Can You Trust Digital Camera Reviews

It seems that every where you look there are always some kind of ad about digital camera. It so easy to find that kind of ads everytime you read a newspaper or magazine, when watching tv shows and when browsing online. In the end the endless ads, which all of them claim to be the best, just make the potential buyer like you confuse. Are they really as good as the reviews say? Which one should i buy?

Well there's one thing you should put lesser trust at and that is the press releases or reviews made by the manufacturer or the advertising agencies hired by the digital camera manufacturers. Why? Obviously none of their reviews are balanced and telling the whole truth. These kind of reviews always describe the positive points of the camera to boost their sales. And it's not just for digital cameras. All kinds of ads and reviews made by a manufacturers or ad agency are always half-true. They never say that their products has a minus points it's just that they never say it in their ads. So if you accuse them for not telling the truth they simply say that they never said it doesn't have those minus points. Press releases should be considered a mere press releases. Their purpose is to ge tpeople to buy the product and branding ( give the brand and the product a good name ).

So, whose reviews can you trust?

The best breed of digital camera reviews can be found in specialty magazines and websites which cater specifically to high-tech widgets and other tech stuff. Why? Because their credibility is at stake. When they tell a lie ever just once their credibility drops and their readership plunge. Reviewers from these places aren't afraid to tell the whole truth. When they list the good points of a digital camera they will also point out what the minuses are so you get a balanced review. They also compare one camera with another so you can understand that camera A is better than B for one condition but not for another. Another reason for trusting reviews in specialty magazines and websites is that the reviewers are knowledgeable people. The live and breath the products they review, they have first hand experience with the products, they know the in and out, good and bad.

Another excellent resource for a review is the ones you write yourself based on your own experience with the digital camera. To do this you certainly need to get your own camera. Use it to take pictures and videos using all kinds of settings available. Take note if the results are the same as the ads claim to be. One important note, make sure you read the manual carefully. Understand fully the specs, features and options that you want to try. Watchout for ambigous words such as "weatherproof". This could mean anything from a mere splash resistant to a fully waterproof where you can submerge the camera underwater and it still work perfectly. From your experiments with camera you can now write your review. Just spill everthing you've learned about the camera and be sure to write that you have first hand experience with the camera and not just guessing.
