Long lag time, but good for the price

My daughter had a camera like this that broke, so I bought her another one. We shared it on a trip and I was surprised by the long lag time that this camera has when taking pictures! Had I tried it before we went, I wouldn't have bought this model again. If can adjust to the lag time, the pictures do turn out good.

LCD viewer

The LCD screen freezes, leaving it un-usable to view pictures. Happened 16 months after purchase of the camera. Second time it has happened with a Kodak camera. Kodak wants to charge $80 to repair. Will be looking at Nikon and Canon.
Night pictures are terrible.

When I had bought this camera two years ago, I was thrilled. It produced crystal clear pictures and very, very easy to use. Within a couple of months of my purchase, though, the camera would turn off in the middle of when I was taking a picture, but the lens would still be zoomed out and I couldn't turn it back on for a while. That happened a couple of times. Then, I took it on a cruise and plugged it into the right voltage outlet so that it could charge and when I took it out, it wasn't charged and it wouldn't turn on. I spend about $80 on getting it fixed and I had to get it fixed often. Great pictures, but it wasn't worth how many times I had to get it fixed and how much it cost to get it fixed.Kodak EasyShare V1003 10MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom (Slate Gray)

Not the best Picture Quality

The camera came on time, but im not happy with the picture quality of this camera. Taking pictures from a distance is a waste of tiem cause the pictures come out horrible, even when i use the various settings.

Awful Camera

This is our 2nd Kodak,we loved our old one, but someone bought us this one for a gift and I regret giving away the old one. I have a toddler and I have zero pictures of her face, I have plenty of the back or side of her head. This has the WORST delay ever. My pictures are often blurry and out of focus. Our old camera was a 5 MP and took much much better pictures than this thing. I would not recommend this camera to anyone. Kodak missed the spot with this camera.

I did have to give it two stars because, it is compact and very easy to use. Kodak is very user friendly, the buttons are labeled well and the menues are easy to follow.

Question : Kodak EasyShare Z740, Professional
I own a Kodak EasyShare Z740 and was wondering how professional of a camera it really is. I'm planning on getting a canon or nikon this December, but I'm wondering if, for now, it will take professional looking pictures (not casual pictures of friends and family). I'm planning on majoring in photography and need to keep working on my portfolio.Any reviews Tips about settings Much appreciated.

Answer:
Camera isn't taking pictures. You are. If you are good enough then you can capture good pictures even with Kodak EasyShare Z740.

Question : does anyone know what lenses will go with kodak easyshare z740
i ordered a tiffen filter - circular polarizer 55mm for my camera. on my camera it has 45.5mm to 55mm lens adapter. so does it mean that that i can put any 55mm lens on it. never done this before. i am interested in the wide angle lens also. i want to take my daughter's senior pictures. or at least try to. my photographer moved off, thought i'd try it myself before going to check out another photographer. any tips on this. what can i do with my camera to make professional pictures.

Answer:
I am not familiar with your camera. If it has a 55mm adapter you can probably use the 55mm filter. It should just screw right on the front of the lens.To me, the major problem with getting professional looking pictures from your camera will be lack of control over depth of field. Consumer digicams use a smallish sensor and a short focal length lens. It is really hard to get selective focus with an 11mm lens That means almost everything in your photo will be in acceptable focus. Great for landscapes or architecture, but not so great for portraits.Try to plan your photo shoot for early morning or late afternoon to take advantage of the golden hour lighting. Put your daughter pretty far in front of the background scenery. Stand far enough back so you can zoom in to telephoto, rather than wide angle.Try using the flash for some. If it bends, bend it (In other words, don't stand her at attention like a soldier). Take a prop (a book, favorite stuffed animal, flower)Don't be afraid to shoot LOTS of frames...that's what digital is for.Good luck to youPS The circular polarizer will cut down on the amount of light you get. Watch your shutter speed to make sure it doesn't drop too low for a sharp picture. You probably won't need to use it for a portrait, unless you are planning on including lots of fluffy white clouds or sparkling water.
