Find Something Better

I bought this out of Macy's vending machine a year ago. I must say (while it lasted) it was a really nice camera, great image quality and the videos were excellent. One day the lens got stuck out and the camera would not work at all. I didn't own it long, but I can say it won't last. Pass and get a brand name that has made cameras for years. I'm sorry but, it's an honest review. If you're lucky, you may get one that will last... mine did not.

Poor picture quality and un-reliable

I have owned this camera for about 5 months. It worked OK for the 1st 2 months. I was very disappointed with the picture quality as pictures were often blurry, exposed badly, or out of focus. After about 2 months of use the camera malfunctioned in that the lens would not open when you turned the camera on. The camera would beep and turn back off. I sent it back to Samsung for repair. The return and repair process went very well. When we got the camera back it malfunctioned again on the first use. This time the lens would not retract when the camera was switched off. I tried to contact the seller (Electronic Expo) for a return and was told that the return date had passed (30 days). Now I will try to get back in touch with Samsung to try to get either a refund or a replacement. This camera has not met my minimal expectations. My photographer friends tell me to buy Canon or Nikon. Next time I will stick with those recommendations.

The camera was a Christmas gift from my children...it took fabulous pictures until suddenly without cause, it stopped working. It would turn on, beep x3 and then shut down not allowing any pictures to be taken. My children bought the camera with cash from a vending machine at MACY's...they did not retain the receipt. The serial number on the camera is not fully legible and I am getting NOWHERE with Samsung and their alleged "executive customer service department"....I am on hold to speak with someone no less than 20 minutes...and it's not uncommon to be disconnected after holding to speak with someone for 20 minutes...their customer service is in the Philipines...and NO-ONE there seems to have any authority to do ANYTHING or make any decisions....I am a consumer who expressed the fact that I really loved this camera but I am so disappointed with the alleged 'customer service' and alleged 'warranty'...

I am a total picture taker and this camera totally delivers. I recently upgraded from the 6.0 mp samsung and this is much more compact and the learning curve was easy. I am a scrapbooker and let me tell you the picture quality is amazing!!!

Should have bought a FUJI

I purchased this camera from the local Radio Shack for what I thought was a good price ($99) I have a Sony that I love, but wanted something small, and compact to throw in my purse on a trip to Disney World.

After arriving back from my trip, I anxiously uploaded my pictures to find the video SOUND QUALITY was horrible after the first couple days. I contacted Samsung and was told to send it to their service location.

I thought perhaps, they would find a setting that was inadvertently pushed, or somesuch, since the first few videos sounded great. Nooooooooo, they sent it back to me telling me it was working "GREAT".

I took several more videos, which when put on several different computers, you could only hear if you turned the volume all the way up. I contacted Samsung again, and was told to send it back in. It's a little frustrating to pay $8 plus to keep sending this camera in when the fault is not mine. I am choosing to keep it, and just not take any more important videos on it, that I actually want to HEAR.

I truly think this is a problem with Samsung's SERVICE DEPARTMENT more than the camera itself. But was told by the "live help" online that the camera is "designed by low quality sound".......whatever that means!

i'm super happy with it

i just bought this last week and am in love with it. i think it's great. it does focus a little slowly and doesnt auto pick the best options but whatever. nothing is going to be perfect.
i would buy it again and tell others to get it. its great for the price!

A GREAT, simple, inexpensive camera!!!!!

This is a great camera. I bought one for myself and then i got my sister one, and no problems so far except, a SDHC memory cards slowed down the camera and then it wouldn't even read the card and said file error, and no the memory card was NOT locked when it started giving me that message, but REGULAR SD Memory Cards work smoothly. It has many useful features and has a info buttom you can press that will tell about each button you press or feature you use. Anti-shake works well.

Awesome Camera!

I bought this camera as an upgrade from my previous camera. It is a great camera. It is super easy to use and very user friendly. I also love the editing software that comes with it. You can do some great things to your pictures.

Not Pleased

I have had the Black version and I loved it and it worked perfect! I ended up losing that one and I bought the red one thinking it was the same thing in a different color, and I was sorely mistaken. I had it for 2 weeks and it started freezing while taking pictures and reviewing pictures that I had taken. I contacted the seller about this and they have not done anything about it in 3 weeks. I am very disappointed in this product and this seller. I would not recommend buying this product. and if you do get the balck one because it is a different model number and works amazing!

Camara did not last one week

After a week of use the camara started to get stuck and I was not even able to turn it off. and seems that now I have to contact Samsung for them to fix it instead of getting a return of refund from the seller. bummer....

Problem I encountered

I purchased this camera a week ago and the first day i got it, it worked pretty well and then once I had a handful of pictures on the camera I noticed the camera would freeze up when browsing and you would have to remove the battery to start the camera again. Then I tried a couple more times and if it didnt freeze the same pictures would say "File Error" and this actually happened with 20% of the pictures I had so i would be very cautious and think twice before going through with this purchase. The features and everything else was awesome but I just couldnt have a camera that would have errors on photos i had taken and force me to delete them as well as have the camera freeze up. So think twice before buying if you want to take the risk of getting the same problems as I did

Only one small problem...

The pictures this camera takes are fantastic. It is small and fits well in a pocket or bag. In fact, the only problem I've ever had with this camera is that the rechargeable battery simply won't charge, no matter what sort of adapter I use.

Great camera for the price. The only thing I do not like is the 10 second delay for shooting pictures and you have to load the manual information on your PC to really get the whole picture. A little too complicated for just wanting a point and shoot. Otherwise a great picture

it was small and light but had a decent size screen. Images were sharp and clarity was very good. I would consider this a great gift or something really nice to own.
