Question : Can I reformat an SD card without losing the pictures on it
I took pictures this afternoon on my Nikon D80 and brought it home to pop into a card reader and upload them to my computer. Unfortunately, when I plugged the card into the computer, OSX told me the disk wasn't formatted...which I thought was wrong since I had just taken it out of the camera. I tried it on Windows XP and got the same result. I then popped it back into the camera, which told me the same thing. Is there any way to format the drive without losing the pictures that I think (and hope) are still there.
Answer:
you might be able to recover them with disk utilities (there are more on windows than mac)... but unless there were many photos, I'd reformat (on the camera)
