Editorial Review :
The Coolpix L20 is a great camera for beginners just getting started in digital photography. Easy to use and fully featured the Coolpix L20 will delight it's users with great pictures, fun features and a huge 3.0-inch display at a surprisingly affordable price.

cool camera
This camera is replacing a Canon Sureshot that is 10 yesrs old. This Nikon is a lot smaller and actually is much easier to use. The view finder is a full 3 inches which is a GREAT feature. The price could not be beat either and the color is, well, COOL! Picture quality is fine but I am still learning how to take pictures in differnt lighting. I hate to read manuals so I am learning as I go. Oh, and you do have to hold down the button 1/2way until it focuses then depress it all the way for a clear picture.

Poor quality control in production
I have been both a professional photographer and a photography instructor in my past life and generally love Nikon cameras. I currently use a Nikon D40X DSLR with great results. This camera (the Nikon Coolpix L20) has, in my opinion, quality control problems which originate at the factory (in China). I read the reviews before purchase but decided to buy one anyway. Took a cruise with the L20 as my only camera (I was on vacation - right?) My mistake - I should have tried out the camera before I left - It was pretty much useless. Out of 200 photos less than 30 were printable unless one was entering a creative art show. I believe from the reviews I have read that many if not most of the L20's work fine, but 10 -20% are not made well and the reviews back that up. Problems with my camera ranged from failure to read low light situations, to totally blurred photos in normal daylight. I don't hate the L20 in general - just the one I have. I am in the process of returning it to Amazon for refund. Next try will be an Olympus or a Canon.

THE worst camera
It is not even 3 months. The camera is already dead. We went for a trip to NYC and Boston. After returning, we realized that it took all blurred images...No memories of the trip at all. Now it says it cannot read the memory card. The memory card is good and I can read it from the computer. Waste of money. WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER NIKON PRODUCT.

Broke after 2 months.
I took less then 25 pictures with the camera and kept it in its on little pouch. Grabbed out one day and noticed a crack in the LCD screen, rendering it completely useless. Called up Nikon since i had a two year waranty and they told me it'll cost 120 dollars to fix. Yes, double the price I paid for it. Aside from the broken screen, the pictures where very blurry, and my LCD screen was very very grainy. Definitely not being another consumer level Nikon.

Good for the price
Good point and shoot starter camera, at under $100 you can't expect much but it does take very nice pictures. Great first camera!
