The SANYO Xacti VPC-S770 sophisticated design allows you to take it just about anywhere. Captured images are easily viewed on the camera's large 2.4 inch LCD display. This camera features a digital image stabilizer for less blur in your photos and red-eye removal. It also has a self-mirror feature so you can take self-portraits. With a 3x optical zoom lens and 5x digital zoom, the VPC-S770 can frame your subjects with much better results. The VPC-S770 stores images in the camera with its 16MB internal memory.

Superb,High Quality Compact Digital Camera

After a few years of dealing with the great quality but of course bulky Olympus Evolt E500 8MP Digital SLR with 14-45mm f/3.5-5.6 & 40-150mm f/3.5-4.5 Zuiko Lenses I decided upon suggestion I needed a smaller digital camera that was simpler to use but had a very similar image quality of my profession model, just for ease of use on say little day trips and such. My first such attempt at purchasing such a camera was a near disaster with the extremely low quality DIGITAL CONCEPTS 87690 7.1 Megapixel Digital Still Camera. The deal at the store was I'd try to camera and return it the next day if I wasn't satisfied and pay the difference on this one, which was also available. Well it's been a week since I bought this camera and I've taken a couple hundred pictures with it and am extremely impressed with the quality not only of the images, which are in fact nearly the equal of my Olympus professional SLR but the ease of use of it's modes and features. The album has an easy hands on menu along with some internal menu features to control everything from excellent white balance and handy AE metering settings. The macro feature was my main concern here as it does when it comes to most cameras of this type but it too is excellent. I primarily have photographed flowers with this so far and I can set as close as 3-4 inces away from the subject before it goes blurry. This camera has almost all the features as my Olympus pro model and a few more such as a range of scene modes for everything from birthday parties to fireworks,a self timer with a little self mirror feature for self portraits as well as a motor drive for continuous pictures. One of the only mild drawbacks is,as stated previously is the slightly low battery life but,if the camera is shut off after a short time and not kept on for long periods the battery will last much longer I find. Another great feature about this camera is when you zoom in closer the ammount of visual "noise" common with these compact digital cameras is kept at a bare minimum and,in broad sunlight or flash use is barely noticible. There are features of this camera I haven't set used but for anyone looking for a near pro quality, budget priced compact digital camera with many handy features this will more than do the trick the same as it has for me.

Awesome

Simple and easy to operate, lightweight and fits in your handbag or small purse. It is a Sanyo and even though this camera is just a 7.0 Mpix camera the photographs are high quality. I love sending these photos over the internet because the pictures keep that quality. You would love this product.

Don't know about the camera but don't buy Sanyo

I shop early for Christmas and got this camera in September. When my daughter opened it in December, it was missing a charger. We emailed Sanyo and got no response so called them. They said since it was passed the 90 day warranty, they could not help us. We were completely ripped off. We looked in the box when it arrived and it looked like everything was there- turns out we got two of another cord instead. I didn't know we had to go through everything piece by piece because I assumed Sanyo was a responsible company.
My daughter is waiting to use her dead camera while we find a replacement charger.

Good camera, bad battery

I think the overall quality of the pictures is good, but like any digital camera, in dark lighting situations, the pictures become blurry. What I don't like is that after fully charging the battery, I left the camera on to see how long the battery would last. It shut itself off after only 70 minutes!!! I couldn't believe a camera with such a short battery life would be sold.

Works for me!

I have had this camera for over a year now and was surprised to see negative reviews. I was actually looking it up because I have to purchase a camera for work and was going to get this one.

One of the best things about it is that despite the fact that I take a lot of pictures of my two little ones I do not have to charge the camera very often. Maybe once a month.

My only complaint is that the video quality is low when the lighting is not good.

I would recommend the camera, and despite the other reviews I am going to buy one for work.

Love this camera!

This camera is light weight, small so it is easily carries in my pocket or purse. Takes great pictures. Video quality after transferred to the computer isn't the best but other than that I have nothing bad to say about this camera!
Lost the adapter to charge it and tried to find a new one and no one carries it, so be careful to not lose it!

Buyer beware regarding this and other Sanyo products

I purchased this digital camera in November 2008 as Christmas 2008 gift for my daughter. She was responsible and careful, but by April 2009, the bottom had fallen off the camera. She gerry-rigged it with masking tape and a piece of Lego, to keep battery from falling out. I just found out about the situation and phoned Sanyo about getting the camera replaced or repaired.

Did you know this camera comes with only 90-day warranty for labor and parts?

Here's what Sanyo graciously offered via their 1-800 number: Sanyo will fix it IF I agree to pay $25 over the purchase price for servicing a defective camera less than one year old. Buyer Beware!

Short Run Time on Full Charge

Bought the pink one at full price ($44.95) as a Christmas present for my wife who has constant cold hands (especially on a ski lift!). The unit does get comfortably warm (during 25F ski hill temperatures)...I really should measure the temperatures in a follow-up though...but the run times are no where near the advertised 3 hours...how the heck did they get that number!

On a full charge of the Eneloops (measured at just over 2000mAh and 1.44V using a La Crosse BC-9009...which BTW is being returned due to it being a fire hazard...but that's another story) the unit runs for just over an hour on low...OR 45 minutes on medium. I did not time the "Turbo" mode...but I'd wager it would not run for longer than 30 minutes (I think Turbo auto turns off anyways...so you cannot really run it constantly in that mode anyways). Not worth the $44.95 IMHO...maybe closer to $20.

Still not a bad choice if you need heat intermittently (like on a ski lift) and if you can carry a few sets of spare batteries. I'm not a huge fan of chemical hand warmers...you cannot really turn them off after they're activated. I think I'll try the zippo next:

Question : Why is the screen on my Sanyo digital camera white with a black spot in it
I just bought this camera 32 days ago. My daughter was using it at school to take pictures. She finished her pictures, took the card out, downloaded the pictures onto the comptuer, put the card back into the camera, and then turned it back on. The screen is now totally white with a black spot in the middle. Sanyo says that is cosmetic damage, so it is not covered. Couldn't the screen just have went out and wouldn't that be an internal problem

Answer:
Here's a test you should try on the camera screen.*Gently and slowly* rub your finger nail on the screen. Does it chage colors or intensitiesDoes it look anything like these imageshttp://images.google.com/imageshl=en&um=1&sa=1&q=broken+lcd+screen+camera&aq=f&oq=&aqi=&star t=0If so, the screen is an unprotected LCD which is very fragile and much more prone to breaking. If it feels hard like a clear sheet of plastic or glass, then it probably didn't break, it is most likely an electronic problem. Many Kodak point and shoot cameras like the C743 were very prone to broken LCD's ( I have 2 that broke). They were so common that ebay vendors made an industry out of selling replacement screens. Do an ebay search for C743 LCD screens. The Sanyo might have the same vulnerability. If it is indeed broken and Sanyo won't fix it under warranty, you'll have to get an estimate for repair and decide whether or not you want to repair it or get another camera (my guess is that it won't be a Sanyo).
