Cheap
I knew that when I bought this camera from a big-box store that it couldn't be great, but it was at first. But then one day when I went to use it an error came up regarding the lens. I've come to find out from searching other web sites that this is a very common problem with the camera. It must have been so common that you can't find this camera on Sanyo's website anymore.

I love it
I'm not the kind of person who wants the thousand dollar camera, so when I received this for xmas last year I used it everyday. Seemed like a normal camera, until a few months later I was messing with the settings and noticed it had a Professional setting right next to Auto. Since then this camera has gone everywhere with me and has not left Professional mode, unless I need to take a video here and there. Either way this camera is amazing on pro-mode even my mom who has a $3,500 Olympus with telescope lenses wants to borrow it because of how crystal clear the photos turn up. Sure it may take some time for the sensor to lock onto what you want but it's worth it for the quality this camera has. I have uploaded some photos in the customer gallery :)

Sanyo Vpc s1070 - run
bought this camera from walmart and the LCD crapped out on day 38. Walmart would not take it back, and indeed had no more of them in stock...Sanyo said it was warrentied for 30 days and it would be cheaper to buy another one. Tried contacting a live someone/anyone at Sanyo to no avail. Automatted Q&A only. I knew there was a reason I didnt like Sanyo.

Get it
This is a great camera for its price. I read a review from a semi-pro who recomended this camera before I purchased mine . This is an older model. On this model you can use your own rechargable batteries. One step above this one I would get now because it can be recharged straight from the camera(its like $10 more). I've had my camera for more than a year now and so there is a newer model out.. Great pictures, everyone comments on how great my photograpny is (its easy with this camera) Don't lose any cords because its almost impossible to get the Sanyo replacement cords. Its a really good camera!! My mother has a more expensive camera but we use mine because it takes better pics.

Love it
I really love this camera, it is so small that you end up taking it everywhere if you have a medium size bag, and quickly turns on and gets to business. There isn't a whole lot of playing with settings, of course you're not going to get a PREFECT movie, but what you do get is good quality. I originally bought this for about 170 bucks a couple of years ago, and still use it. I quickly pull the video files off with my macbook, which is the original reason I bought it.

not happy with service
The sounds stopped recording 6 months after purchase. The cost of the camera was $150, to repair it $130. The parts were covered, but the labor was not. I would not get this camera unless you get the extra insurance. It does take good pictures and video....just watch out if it breaks.

E-1 to E-2, and back to E-1
When my E-1 broke I immediately started searching for a replacement, as it was such a handy and useful gadget for documenting my family and I felt I couldn't live without it. By that time E-2's were already out and when Amazon gave me a good price on it, I pulled the trigger.
I must say I was disappointed after evaluating it, and decided to return it, and look for a used E-1 on fleabay, which I did. Here is why I don't think it's a worthy upgrade.
I guess I can go right into the cons, because I honestly don't see what is better in E-2 over E-1. Maybe the battery/memory door is sturdier and seems to lock more securely right away. In E-1 one had to make sure it sealed correctly.
My main beef with E-2 is image quality. In daylight is not that bad, but the moment you go indoors you see this is not E-1. The image is much nosier from E-2. That goes for photos, but especially for video (which is my primary use). Filming in low light is no longer possible, it this was the forte of the previous model compared to other manufacturers in the price range. 60 fps in low light is out of the question altogether. Noise becomes all you can see in the video then. It is very apparent even in the viewfinder screen. It is just bad.
White balance is my other issue. In artificial lighting (which again is all you get indoors) it is way too cool, almost blue in most cases. E-1 was on the warmer side, but it was closer to what actually the lighting was. E-2 looks completely unnatural. This is more pronounced indoors again, but is also visible outdoors, in daylight. For photos is not as bad, but there isn't a quick way to adjust white balance after the fact on video. The only way here is to manually adjust it prior to filming, but that kind of defeats the point-and-shoot-ness of the camera.
I think the prices on fleabay also said something about which one is better. When I looked E-2s new hovered around 150-170, whereas E-1s were more than double the price.
So, I'm back to E-1.

waterproofing
i had this camera for almost 2 yrs now without a problem. takes decent pictures and videos, i like the built in video editing software. very handy and fits with 1 hand use. Just 2 days ago, we were in orlado water parks, i used it again - the same way used it before. i was only able to take 6 pictures and 2 minutes of video and it stop working. when i check it, the screen is filled with water. i removed the battery and sd card and have it dried, after 2 days of trying the dry the camera, the water is still in the screen, i dont have any idea how caome it wont drain out. i love this camera but i'm now doubting the waterproofing of this camera in the long run...

Customer Review :
BUYER BEWARE!!! VERY DISSAPPOINTED WITH THIS PRODUCT AND WITH SANYO LACK OF CUSTOMER SUPPORT!!!
Well we purchased this camcorder over a year ago. I rarely use this only for Christmas, birthdays and of course the kids end of school programs. If I use it 5 times this year that was a lot. It worked fine although it was very confusing to operate. In addition I found this camera to be very awkward to hold. The still photos were okay I never really used this function. I just went to use the camcorder and I found I had a black screen and all the footage that I had stored on it has vanished!! This is horrible all my memories are lost forever! I called Sanyo customer service well they suck because I was told I would have to pay for the repair its no longer under warranty. Sanyo warranty is only 90 days!!! I WILL NEVER BUY A SANYO PRODUCT EVER AGAIN!!! This company does not stand behind its product or its customers!! I should have bought a SONY!! I learned the hard way!

Black screen of death
I was amazed to read the reviews that mirrored my personal experience. This will be my last Sanyo anything... Sanyo should have provided firmware to fix their lighting shortcomings and paid for the massive amount of camera failures.

Buyer Beware
I saw a review for this camera in a magazine when they first came out and it sounded like a great thing. I ordered one from the PX. It took forever to come in and when it did there was no picture, only a black screen. The PX doesn't have the best track record for electronics, so after I took it back, I bought another one somewhere else. It came in and worked. I thought it took great video, nice vibrant colors. There is a large delay when taking pictures, so you have to anticipate what will happen during action shots and click a few seconds in advance, and don't even bother taking pictures while taking video. It leaves a noticable glitch in the video stream. I used this camera very little. I pulled it out for band concerts and such to take a few pictures. I always stored it in a padded case, etc. Anyway, after about 6 months I turn it on one day and I have a black screen again. My husband called the company...apparently this is a known issue which occurs frequently. My camera should have still been under warranty, but the guy said because of its model number it was made in Japan so the warranty didn't apply. (I thought they were all made in Japan). Anyway, we could send it all in (in the original packaging) and they would repair it. We did. They charged us over $200! I have used the camera 6 times since it has been repaired. I have treated it gently and handled it with care. Yesterday I turned it on to make sure the battery was charged and ready to tape my daughter's graduation and the black screen was back. I want to cry. I'm out a lot of money and I have nothing to show for it but a defective product that should have been recalled.

Black screen of death
5 days after the one year warranty expired I turned the camera on and there was no preview image on the view screen. Everything else seemed fine, it took pictures (although blank), the sound was working, voice instructions were OK too. Checked some HD1 forums and found this to be a very common problem with HD1's. Called tech support and was told I was to pay for parts and labor since it was out of warranty. Labor was only 90 days anyway. I asked the tech if there was a possibility of a recall and was told "no". Too bad, it was a good video camera. Stills need quite a bit of light. Stay away from used HD1's. I think I will stay away from Sanyo after this experience.

DO NOT BUY!
when it worked, it worked great, but after about 2 weeks, the screen went black and stayed that way. luckily, i bought it used for cheap. unluckily, that voided the warranty. last sanyo product i will ever buy...ever. cant even find a place in my town that sells or can fix them. not willing to pay 200 dollars to get it repaired by the company. big ripoff. really pissed. i guess ill just have to live with throwing 350 dollars out the window.

Question : my sanyo digital camera won't upload my pictures to my computer. help
i have a sanyo digital camera. it used to always let me upload them. but it wont anymore. i connect the USB cord into my computer and a pop up comes up and it sayd that i need to scan and fix removable disk i.. i scanned it and it still wont let me upload my pictures. i tried everything. can somebody please help me
Answer:
Don't bother with cables or special softwareThe easiest and best method to transfer photos and video from your camera to your computer is via a little USB card reader (which are very cheap these days and widely available).Card readers also work for moving photos from the computer onto a card.Plug the reader into a USB port and insert the memory card.It will show up as a drive, and you can simply drag and drop the photos across to the folder of your choice.http://www.ephotozine.com/article/Card-Readers-explained-140
