But it's the excitement of ongoing discovery - the way this camera captures the vibrant spontaneity of the world before you - that defines the lasting rewards of the PowerShot SD960 IS Digital ELPH, and the new level of pictures and HD movies that await you. Immediate satisfaction. Day-after-day delight. What could be better?

Awesome pocket cam
This is a great pocket cam. Pic/video quality SUCKS of course, compared to a dSLR (which I'm used to), but this little cam allows me to take it anywhere anytime. This advantage compensates for the comparatively crappy IQ (once again, think of dSLR difference). For its category, works great. 2 years of constant use, and still works like a champ.

Great Camera
I am Canon lover since I knew what cameras are. This one is again, the best for the purpose of handyness. Picture Quality is awesome & you can print as much as large as you can and get the same feel as seeing on a Computer.

Outside Nice
VEry nice pictures outside..inside with flash is decent as well. My camera makes noise...when it's on..even the day i took it out of its package!!! idk if it's faulty or not..but it works so i'm okay for now. Battery life is pretty decent...i had mines on for like 4 hours..taking non stop pictures while i was traveling. would be nicer if it's slimmer and shorter..but whatever.

Great Camera
I am really happy with this camera. It's not a SLR replacement, but is very good and so much more practical in many situations.
I got the camera to take on a backpacking trip because I wanted to go as light as possible-- but still wanted to get good pics. The camera exceeded my expectations and delivered great images. I was really happy with the colors it produced. There are situations that the sharpness is a litte soft-- especially with the zoom and/or if you are trying to crop into the shot tight, but over-all the images are great. The wide angle is awesome!
The touch screen UI worked well and was pretty cool. However-- I found it was quicker to use the dedicated buttons on the right for quicker/tactile access to common features. I love it that this camera still has these buttons compared to the newer model which is all touch-screen.
I was also very happy with the video quality. The 720p clips looks great. I cut them into my 1080i HDV footage and it's hard to tell the difference. Zoom while shooting is digital and should be avoided.
I bought several extra batteries too, but I was pleased that I really only needed one extra as each battery lasted 7 days (about 500 pics) while in the wilderness. NOTE: I used minimal flash and shooting video will zap the battery much faster than pics.
PROS: - Size - Good/Great Images - 24mm wide-angle is great - Fast and accurate auto-focus - Nice feature set and shot modes - Touch screen cool, but... - Still has vital physical buttons - LCD is bright/vivid even outside - Custom self timer (with multiple shots)
CONS: - Sharpness with zoom - Touch screen can be accidently activated - Not a SLR replacement (but fits in my pocket)

Owning the right item and getting it at the right place
This canon camera is easy to use and produces a quality picture. I have had a canon camera for years but this one is by far the best. And above all it was not as expensive as the others I have owned. And this version does much more then the others.I wish I had known about it earlier but it took a friend to point me in the right direction.I tried to purchase the camera at a store but I could not get the one I wanted so I went to online purchasing and used Amazon.com because I knew I could get what I wanted and without any difficulty.

Canon Power Shot DS 980 IS
This camera is amazing. It has no flaws, it is just perfect. Easy to use, stunning functions, lots of features. Everything that I would ever want. Touch screen options is fantastic. It might be a little complicated for those who are used to cheaper and much less sofisticated cameras.I have a dougbt that those who write bad reviews have no idea how to use good quality cameras. I would recommend to buy this digital camera not only my friends but everyone who is looking for something different and better than anything else that is out there. Canon has proved itself once again. I love high end technology and this camera could easily meet those requiremnets. Love, Love, Love. You won't be dissapointed. The pictures as well as video is truely fantastic quality. Only thing is that it might require several hours to get used to it. I would ask incompetent people to keep their reviews for themselves. Please do not mislead others with your absurd opinions.

Nice Features, takes time to get use to functions menu
Likes: wide angle lens, size, wt.
Dislikes: controls are different from earlier models. Not as easy or intuitive.
You can use the screen glass like an iPhone butt sort of.

Batteries dont' last
Camera is good for picture quality and ease of use - this is my 3rd canon powershot - battery life is awful. I take several pictures - upload them - then shut the camera off - in 1 and half weeks of not using it- batteries are dead - I can't keep batteries in camera or they drain quickly.....I would not recommend this camera and now I have to purchase another camera, and I won't be purchasing powershots anymore.

WARNING - CAMERA SWITCHES ON EASILY AND WILL RUIN LENS!
This camera would be great, except for a fatal flaw! It commonly switches on inside the users' purse, pocket ect, this causes the lens to jam and then the camera does not work properly and makes a horrible grinding noise while turning on. After this event there are spots in the picture, you cannot use the zoom feature properly, and the camera continuously errors out reporting the lens cannot be closed. This has happened to my husband twice! The first time Amazon kindly replaced the camera, but he has yet to decide what to do about the second time. This has also happened to me, although my lens was not damaged, thankfully. This really would be a great camera if not for this problem. The on switch should be a dial you have to turn, not a pressure sensitive button.
The camera otherwise takes good photos, pretty easy to use, decent battery life ect. But sorry, can't recommend something that self destructs within minutes of purchase.

DONT buy this camera
this camera has very poor durability, the shooting modes are all the same. This camera has broken on me twice, do not buy this camera! This is a waste of money, and it is way overpriced! Canon should be ashamed of this camera!! I'm sick of it saying "Lens error, restart camera"
Rating :
Big disappointment
Bought this after my Kodak EasyShare bit the dust. Everyone raved about Canons, so I thought I'd give it a try. Now, I'm dying to go back to Kodak! This camera takes waaaaay too long to charge the flash between each shot, then waaaaay too long to focus on the subject, and then there's another second delay after you hit the button. Trying to capture "the moment" with my kids is impossible! Or even with group shots I find myself apologizing, "Hold on...it's still charging...hold that smile...trying to focus...not ready yet..." It takes about 5-10 seconds to charge the flash between each shot. Which, when people are waiting, or when your kids are running around, is an eternity. Action shots are impossible -- always blurred. And I haven't been too impressed with the color quality either.
And NOW I'm having trouble with it saying I need new batteries every time I turn it on. Even after I put brand-new batteries in it. I've only had this camera 7 months, and I'm ready to throw it at the wall.
Bottom line: This camera is way too slow, and the quality of the pictures is only so-so. It's more trouble than it's worth.

Faulty design and absolute rip off service
I purchased my Canon SD 1200IS in September, 2009 from Amazon for $160. For the five months that it worked, it worked well. I was careful with it, never near sand nor a beach, never in the rain, kept it in a case. But 5 months later it would not power on, or when I would finally get it to turn on, it would extend the lens and then power down, an even more frustrating situation. I sent the camera in to be repaired while it was under warranty. I then received an estimated repair cost of $118, claiming that it was water damage. Again, the camera was never in the rain, never dropped in water. To my knowledge it was never even damp. If ambient humidity may have caused the problem that is certainly a design flaw and this camera should only be sold in the desert. I had read online that Canon repair had done this same sort of rip off with others and somehow thought that as I knew I'd treated the camera well that my case would not be the same. I am greatly disappointed and will never waste my money on a Canon camera again.
I was extremely disappointed with the durability, or lack thereof, of the camera even with proper care. I was even more disappointed with the outrageous repair estimates that was not even explained by the repair service. As I have seen that others have had the same experience and now learn that one of the cameras I'd given as a gift did the same thing, it is interesting that on Canon's own website the reviews are so glowing. This may have been how I was led to believe it was a good camera in the first place. I have recommended Canon cameras to many of my friends and family and have purchased 5 as gifts in addition to other Canon products (copier, printer/fax, etc.). I will now need to start warning people about Canon's cameras.

I love Canon, they cannot disappoint my family and I. I bought this for my girlfriend and she used to have this Olympus one but I got her into the Canon line of cameras and she noticed the picture quality. Worth the buy, and honestly it has good picture quality. You get what you pay for, and with this you will get what you want....Trust me I was playing with that thing the first second I saw it and took a ton of pictures everywhere we went. Good stuff.

I bought the camera exactly 13 month ago. Never had a problem and liked it overall. Easy to use, good picture quality and battery life was very good. Today however without any warning the lens doesn't open up and I get the error "lens error restart camera". 1 month past the warranty. Reading up on it I guess it is a known error that Canon doesn't warrant. I guess I will not buy a Canon anymore.

Question : What kind of batteries should be used with Canon Digital camera A 570? Any specific brand?
I have recently purchased Canon A 570 Digital camera. The batteries have gone dead I have replaced the old Panasonic batteries with brand new Duracell battery however the moment I inserted the batteries I get battery low display. Are there any specific brands that we have to purchase and any specific model? Can we use rechargeable batteries?Which recharger should I use? Any specific brand? Please let me know the exact name of the model/brand of batteries.
Answer:
Yes, of course you can use rechargeable batteries. In fact, that's what you SHOULD use. Any good name brand of rechargeable NiMh battery and charger will do. Make sure they are high capacity (something like Energizer 2700mAh or higher).Your camera only uses 2 AA batteries, so make sure you buy 4 batteries and a charger that can charge 4 batteries at a time, so you always have a spare set.To lengthen your battery life, make sure you turn off the LCD in between shots, and also limit the use of the flash, zoom and recording of movies.Make sure you always give the batteries a charge before you plan to use the camera. Especially if you have not used it in a while, because NiMh batteries will discharge at the rate of about 1/2 -1% per day when not used. You can also use Lithium batteries (such as Energizer e2). They are non rechargeable and fairly expensive, but provide a much longer battery life than ordinary batteries. They are perfect as an emergency backup...and the good thing about them is that they do not discharge when not used.good luck...

Question : Where can I get a nifty screen protector for my Canon digital camera?
A friend told me that they make those plastic protector things (that adhere just with static electricity) for digital camera screens so you don't scratch them. he said you can get them specifically for your make and model so they fit perfectly. I have a Canon PowerShot SX110 IS. Where can I find a protector for it?
Answer:
If you chose to go with the plastic protectors go to Walmart and by the targus at 2.79 than cut them by yourself. There are 4 in the box so if you make a mistake just throw it and cut a new one.If you chose to go with a custom made one made of glass be ready to spend around 30 dollars. Is it worth it for a camera that cost 240? Your call, I chose the Targus for my G10.

Question : Which is better a Sony or a Canon digital camera ?
I'm panning to buy a good digital camera and i'm wondering which is better a sony digital camera or a canon. Do you know any good model to suggest ?
Answer:
Sony tends to be lower end. They're limited on lenses and feel cheap. Sony has been making SLRs since 2006 and Canon since the early 1900s. Who do you think would be better?
