Great lil camera on the GO
I am a Flight Attendant for a major USA carrier and travel alot internationally and domestic. It is small enough to stick inside my tote bag and travels very well in a front pocket should I need it on the go. Takes awesome pictures with just a click. I have not had any issues with this at all. I have also gotten so many compliments.

An amazing product!
First of all, I actually had a hard time choosing a color. It is so nice owning a good-looking product. This is my first digital camera ever and I've had it since January. Unfortunately, shortly after I got it, I found out I had cancer. It's all gone now and I've actually been using it since last month.
Anyway, my daughter has been giving me some coaching tips but I've found this camera to be easy to use and it takes great pictures and video. I got this as a package deal with the cables, case, rechargeable batteries, a tiny tripod (which is worthless) and a large SD card. I've had a lot of people say I got a great deal, so keep searching on Amazon until you find it. I found the package deal totally by accident when I lost my data and had to "re-search" cameras. It was buried on page 2 or 3 of the search results.
It's great having rechargeable batteries (4 in all) but they do seem to go through a charge fast.
All of my pics have come out nice, even the ones I took in the bowling alley. The camera has a nice heft and fits into my hand well. I can't wait to learn how to use even more of the features.

Love the quality of Pictures!!
I thought this camera was really great. I bought a Canon of the same level only about 2 years ago, and this one as a gift, and I can definitely see a change in the quality of pictures. MUCH better than my 2 year old camera, and I am still pleased with those pictures. I like how small it is. Good design.
Rating :
Great little camera for its category
I will give it 5 stars because it is a great little camera for its category of small point and shoot. You aren't going to always get professional SLR quality images, but that's not what this camera is. (Also, you can get better battery life if you get a set of re-chargeable NiMH batteries instead of using regular alkaline AAs.)
The video clips are surprisingly sharp and clear on this camera, rivaling those on the Canon SD1200. I took some indoor family photos at Christmas, and this camera's photos were actually somewhat sharper than the very same images taken with a Sony DSC-H20, which has bad indoor noise.
The camera has easy to use features and buttons and a sturdy build. I like that it has a rounded grip on the right side. I also like the easy access ISO button.
One bad thing was that I took some of my photos using an indoor scene mode, because in the LCD screen they looked so nice and warm. However, after viewing them on a computer in Photoshop, those photos were actually too orange. So don't be deceived by what you see on the screen, apparently the color there is not totally accurate. I should have just taken the photos in Auto mode.
I love the cool design and colors of this camera. I bought the white one because it reminded me of my Electra Rosie bike. So I stuck one of my little red rose stickers that came with my bike on the camera, and now they match! Not that I'll be using my camera while I ride the bike, but still. The camera looks really cool. The white one also looks like a little Apple computer.

Good camera for a point and shoot.
I like the fact that the camera uses AA batteries. That's one of the reasons I bought it. I own another Canon camera that takes really good pictures but I wanted one that I could slip into my purse. The camera takes good outside pictures. I did have some trouble taking inside pictures in low light. Also automatic focus was difficult. I was trying to take pictures at a fashion show in Vegas and the flashing lights behind the models and low light everywhere else caused problems that I wouldn't have had with my better Canon. But overall a good camera for everyday use. It's nice to be able to pick up a couple of AA batteries at the drug store if my rechargeables aren't ready to go. It's not that heavy and the robin's egg blue is really pretty. Would be a great first camera for kids.

An affordable high quality compact from Canon
The Canon Powershot A495 is probably one of the most affordable compact digital cameras out there. A little bit bulky and encased in a full plastic body, including a plastic lens barrel, its design may not catch your eyes at first, but this pocket-sized, AA-battery powered digital compact will surprise you in many ways once you take it out of the box.
With a high-quality 2.5" LCD screen, composing shots are easy, and the auto scene detection function makes taking pictures a breeze. With the DIGIC III processor (although not as good as Canon's latest Digic IV processor, it does a fine job here), the camera's software is able to detect up to 9 faces within a single frame quickly and adjusts the exposure accordingly so the subjects don't turn out overexposed or underexposed. Recovery time is amanzingly fast, again thanks to the DIGIC III processor normally only found in the more expensive IXUS models and Canon's DSLRs, so you can go on to shoot the next picture almost immmediately. The DIGIC III processor also makes sure that the pictures come out as clean and as noise free as possible. The A495 shoots from ISO 80 all the way up to ISO 1600, and with a small 1/2.3 inch sensor, keeping the images clean and noise free is no easy feat. The white balance adjustment is nearly perfect, with the camera producing almost natural colors even under flourescent lights. Test images have been uploaded under the customer's images section showing the color reproduction and noise performance of the camera.
Of course, the A495 is by no means a perfect little camera, with a few disappointing features here and there, and they are 1) a slow continuous burst, at a sluggish 0.95 frame per second 2) the night mode, which shoots at 2 megapixels only, and 3) a somewhat imperfect software which always keeps the camera's shutter speed just slow enough indoors to cause just a little blur to the images, even with the flash on. Therefore, it'll wise for you to keep the camera as steady as possible or use a tripod when you're shooting indoors.
Compared to the very closely priced Sony DSC-S930 and S950 released last year, the Canon is able to produce much cleaner and sharper pictures at any given ISO (even though there is no ISO 3200), and the quality of the images closely matches those of the very expensive Sony DSC-WX1 with EXMOR-R sensor, which comes as a surprise to me.
With its low price point and high quality images, the Canon Powershot A495 makes a perfect gift for any casual photographer, and for someone who's just getting into photography, it has enough features to become a back-up camera with its ability to use AA batteries straight out of a convenient store.

Reasonably priced Canon, but there could be some improvement
I decided on the Canon A495 as I wanted an inexpensive camera to carry around in my purse for unexpected shots. I purchased the red camera - it's a deep frosted red with black trim.
This is a good camera for beginners - it's not DSLR quality but it's easy to learn and use; it's not my camera of choice for my shots that I want to look really professional, my Panasonic camera is for those...but for those of you who just want a good basic camera from a well-known camera company, this one should fit your needs well.
Are you trying to decide between the A495 and the next model lower, the A490? Here are the differences:
· The A495 has a Face Self-Timer feature. You can focus on a group of people, and before the camera takes the shot, run over and get into the picture yourself, with your face being detected, too. Of course, you would also need a tripod or a place to set the camera down.
· The A495 has two (2) additional Scene Modes: Poster Effect and Super Vivid Color. Nice to have the additional scenes, but how often will you use them? I plan on making some art for my living room walls with the Poster Effect scene, so I opted for the A495.
· The A495 will focus on up to 9 faces (or areas); whereas the A490 will focus on up to 5 faces (or areas).
You have to decide for yourself if you would be using any of these additional features to save yourself a few dollars by going with the A490 instead of the A495.
PROS: · Easy to use straight out of the box - I didn't need to read the manual to start out, but I recommend reading it to learn about all the features · Fairly durable, even though it's made of plastic · Powers up ready to take a picture in about a second · 2.5" LCD screen is large enough to see clearly · Takes great close-up (macro) shots · Program mode lets you change some settings like exposure compensation, ISO, continuous shooting, metering mode, etc. · Larger than an ultra-compact camera, so it's easier to grip and avoid dropping · Uses AA batteries, and I'm surprised I got over 400 shots from my rechargeable batteries (the alkaline AA batteries included did not last long) - so I recommend rechargeables · Takes surprisingly good video with sound (not HD) and can be directly uploaded to YouTube (this is part of the included software) · The ZoomBrowser photo editing software has always been a favorite of mine, I use it with all my cameras, no matter what brand they are. I like this more than Picasa.
CONS: · Recovery time after taking a picture is SLOW, and even worse if using the flash (approximately 3 seconds w/flash) - this is normal with a camera that uses two AA batteries. It's still better than the Nikon L20, though. · No optical image stabilization - but this is rare in any camera at this price point · No optical viewfinder - again, hard to find now in any camera, but if you want one, check out this Canon: Canon PowerShot A1100IS 12.1 MP Digital Camera with 4x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 2.5-inch LCD (Silver) · Battery door is flimsy, I have to be careful when closing it so the hinge doesn't break, and if not careful, the batteries fall out when removing the SD card · Slightly on the bulky side, won't fit easily in a shirt pocket, should be OK in a pants pocket
I would have given this camera 5 stars if it wasn't so darn slow on the recycling time after taking a photo. It flashes "busy" on the LCD screen and it is frustrating when you are waiting to take another shot.
NOTE #1: This camera does not come with an SD card, so pick one up when buying the camera as you will not be able to use it right out of the box otherwise. This camera will accept SDHC cards up to/including 32 GB.
NOTE #2: The PSC-500 genuine Canon case Canon PSC-500 Deluxe Soft Case fits this camera perfectly, but there is no extra room for spare batteries. It's a snug fit, but it's well padded too.
NOTE #3: For those of you looking for a camera that can put a date stamp on your pictures, this one does. You have your choice of date only or date and time - or none at all.

the little camera that could!
i've had many digital point & shoots in the past and i've got to say that the A495 is simply the best. here you have a camera you can take pictures with with ease in automatic mode and then further your picture taking skills with both the program mode and the settings mode. for anyone with experience in digital cameras, the aforementioned settings are familiar territory- but one should know, never has navigating the settings been easier and faster. not only is this a handy little camera to have around for those 'just in case' moments, but it is a great camera to grow with. i really wish that this was my very first introduction to the digital camera world! put in a little effort and viola! in no time, you're taking pictures worth framing. at 10 mega pixels, these shots can be blown up to poster size, suitable for hanging!! the camera also comes with a video mode- great for shooting small video clips, an AV cable- to attach to your TV set to watch your pics & videos on the big screen, a USB cable- to upload your pics/vids to your computer for editing, and a disk with a pdf instruction manual, and the solid Canon Zoom browser for editing your pics. in all, a perfect pocket sized camera not only for the person that doesn't feel like lugging around something bigger & more expensive, but for someone on a tight budget that wants something with quality and the ability to learn with. (honorable mention has to go to the 'posterize' camera setting. i included some of the pics i took in this mode- i'm absolutely addicted to shooting with this setting in widescreen!!!) finally, nothing is without flaws: if i absolutely HAD to find fault with this camera this would be it: 1. AA battery life (definitely bring backup batteries- or better yet, rechargables) 2. (another person mentioned in another review) flash recovery takes a few seconds- that could mean the difference between a decent pic and a blurry mess. although it goes without saying that this is a problem in almost ALL compact digital cameras. 3. no view finder (i'm reaching here- this has never been a concern of mine, yet some people absolutely NEED one).

Bulky but good!
I have owned several Canon Powershot series cameras and they perform really well. I have had the A560 for about 2.5 years and it's about time I buy a smaller camera (i'm purchasing a Canon Elph SD940is). The A560 is durable and it is still in great conditions! The only problem I have with the A560 is that it is too bulky to carry with me all the time. The fact that it uses AA batteries is actually great, the only thing is that you must have rechargeable batteries and a battery charger. Regular disposable batteries won't last for a day with a camera like this. The flash is great and the Macro mode is better than average. I don't think it performs very well in low-light conditions. Overall it's a good purchase if you don't mind the extra volume and if you have a battery charger.

NOT BAD!
After losing my samsung, which I found to take extremely good pics and was no longer sold, I decided on this one and must say that for the price I paid for it, it takes very good pics. However, I do recall purchasing it for much less. It disappointed me on a few occassions, however later found that you must learn to use the settings to get great pics. I have been told several times that I take quality shots especially at family engagements.

BUYER BEWARE ON THIS PRICE!!!!
This camera is no longer current for Canon. Check the Canon web site. On their site they show retail price of $150. Why would you pay $400. My son-in-law recommended it, but also indicated it probably was no longer available from Canon unless they had some left over inventory. He also said he paid a little over $100 when he bought his. I guess Wall Street Photo is trying to subsidize the execs!

Color communicates. It introduces you before you say a word, making the PowerShot SD1100 IS Digital ELPH the ultimate image-maker. Five fashion-forward hues expressed in pure aluminum add a new burst of excitement to Canon's Perpetual Curve design. Of course, a camera that brings out the best in you also delivers Canon's most advanced technology features. Call it style with substance, for a new level of picture-taking pleasure.

So far so good!!
I love it! The color is starting to chip but that's okay. I always use it and I take it with me whenever I don't feel like using my DSLR. It's compact, perfect for when you're clubbing or during parties etc. Easy to use and less complicated than DSLR ( of course!) It's well worth the money. ;)

camera and printer
This little camera takes a great picture, is easy to use, and is small enough to put in your pocket. The pictures from the printer are great, and you can also transfer the pictures from the camera to your computer. I love the little printer, though, for puting pictures in a photo album. I was really surprised at the quality of the pictures from the printer. They are great.

Great point and shoot camera
Many of the reviews I read on Amazon, and other places, are left by people who just recently purchased the item. Not real helpful. So I waited 11 months. That should be enough time to properly evaluate the Canon PowerShot SD1100IS.
I'll cut to the chase: this is a perfect point and shoot camera for people taking candid shots, vacation photos, kids, and general every day use. The quality is good, the options robust, and it's compact enough that it will fit you in your shirt pocket.
This IS not the perfect camera if you're trying to take professional looking photographs, particularly of nature and especially outside. You just don't have the focal depth to get rich pictures. My father in law has one of the Canon SLRs and you can really see the difference in quality. But you can also see and feel the difference in the size of the camera you're carrying around (a few ounces that can fit comfortably in your pocket v. a few pounds that needs it's own case). I'm not saying it doesn't take good outdoor pictures, it just doesn't pick up everything that your eyes do.
If you need a camera to take to parties, the kids' play date or soccer game, or just having fun, then this is a great camera. It has nearly all the features of other Canon cameras. Also, the video is really good quality and it saves it in .avi format.

Super Great camera.
Great camera I have one and bought a 2nd for my folks, as the film cameras are getting harder to find and have the film developed. The movie mode is good if you can't get the right still shot, the voice recorder is wonderful for getting the whole story during a family story time. Paired with the Micca Slimm [...] Mom and Dad don't even have to have a computer to see their pictures, listen to their voice recordings or watch their just shot movie on their HD TV. The auto mode on the camera does just about everything for them to get a great shot.
Rating :
Faster than any other camera I've played with
Lots of reviews out there, but few mention how snappy this camera is. Nearly instant start-up, which I consider a requirement so that you don't miss that special photo b/c you are twiddling your thumbs waiting for the camera to boot. Similarly, the camera responds very quickly when taking a photo. Again a requirement for me.
I have been thoroughly impressed by image quality.
I was recently disappointed when I dropped the camera onto a hard floor and the lens cell became inoperable..."lens error" or something similar...my favorite camera is not useless...but then again, maybe I shouldn't have dropped it onto concrete...

Loved it
I say "loved it" because my friend dropped it on Halloween. I took great pics on land and underwater (in the Canon housing), and did excellent macro. My only complaint is that after a couple years some pixels started dying in the LCD screen. Could have replaced the screen if my friend didn't total it- oh well.

Love it! Dont know what ill do when it dies.
This is hands down the best camera ive ever purchased/used. Its picture takeing compaired to my sis's Rebel XSi is better at some points. We love this camera the only possible problem with it is that at some point in time you wont be able to fix it or able to find a new one for sale.

Excellent scenery pictures, poor others
I've had the Canon PowerShot SD870 IS for about 2 years now, and I've realized that it's GREAT for scenery pictures--landscapes, buildings, sunsets, etc--but when it comes to photographing people, the picture quality is awful (especially when taken indoors). All of my friends hate my camera because they claim that it "makes them look ugly." Haha, sounds ridiculous, I know, but it truly does not make people look good AT ALL! I've taken it to Best Buy, compared its settings with the Canon cameras on the floor to make sure I didn't have it on some weird setting, and it STILL just takes awful pictures of people. It has cool features and is very easy to use, but its weaknesses are things that I consider most important in a camera. So, it's definitely not the camera for me!

Not for butter fingers
I searched many months for a camera. Read review after review and test drove a few. Purchased the SD870 IS and was a bit dissapointed by the picture quality (lots of red eye indoors no matter what mode) and the durability of the thing. My husband had it in his pocket and cracked the LCD during a fishing trip. It was not covered so I paid for the repair. Then just the other day I dropped it not 3 feet from the ground while playing back the Halloween photos I took of my kids and poof the lens was dead. The pieces just crumbled and this was on carpet and we do not have cement floors. I am very unhappy with the quality and just wanted to let others know that if you have butter fingers (typically I do not have) then this camera is not for you. One bounce and it is burnt TOAST. I am back on the prowl for a "tough/waterproof" camera in hopes to avoid such problems in the future.

Problem with LCD
I have taken many great pictures with this camera and have been pleased for a couple of years, however, my LCD Screeen is now going bad. I have streaks in the screeen and a spot in the middle of the screen that is getting bigger every day. I would like to know what is causing this problem. I have had similiar problems with canon cameras and their LCD screens in the past.

Questions & Answers
Question : How do I unlock my memory card on my Canon digital camera?
I have a Canon Power Shot SD1000 Digital Elph. I have a memory card that I took pictures on, and somehow the memory card is locked. I let someone hold my camera, so I don't know how it got locked in the first place. It won't let me access my photos, and I know it's the memory card not the camera because the other memory card works. What do I do?!?!?!
Answer:
If you look at the memory card it self there should be a small switch on it. Slide it back and your ready to go!

Question : What kind of batteries should be used with Canon Digital camera A 570? Any specific brand?
I have recently purchased Canon A 570 Digital camera. The batteries have gone dead I have replaced the old Panasonic batteries with brand new Duracell battery however the moment I inserted the batteries I get battery low display. Are there any specific brands that we have to purchase and any specific model? Can we use rechargeable batteries?Which recharger should I use? Any specific brand? Please let me know the exact name of the model/brand of batteries.
Answer:
Yes, of course you can use rechargeable batteries. In fact, that's what you SHOULD use. Any good name brand of rechargeable NiMh battery and charger will do. Make sure they are high capacity (something like Energizer 2700mAh or higher).Your camera only uses 2 AA batteries, so make sure you buy 4 batteries and a charger that can charge 4 batteries at a time, so you always have a spare set.To lengthen your battery life, make sure you turn off the LCD in between shots, and also limit the use of the flash, zoom and recording of movies.Make sure you always give the batteries a charge before you plan to use the camera. Especially if you have not used it in a while, because NiMh batteries will discharge at the rate of about 1/2 -1% per day when not used. You can also use Lithium batteries (such as Energizer e2). They are non rechargeable and fairly expensive, but provide a much longer battery life than ordinary batteries. They are perfect as an emergency backup...and the good thing about them is that they do not discharge when not used.good luck...

i have bought cannos sd 630 . But i know there is latest model of canon digital camera in the market . So i want to know what can i do with my cannos sd 630 and what can't i do ?
Answer:
The Canon SD 630 is a very good compact camera.I don't think you should worry about the other models for now. I would wait till next year to see what is coming out. They are...SD800 IS, 7.1 MP, 3.7x opticalSD900, 10MP, 3x opticalA630, 8MP, 4x optical but larger in sizeThe two SD models just have more megapixels and the newer processor. And the SD630 has the same excellent movie mode...and has a large 3.0" LCD. Just make sure you use a fast SD card.

Question : Which is the best canon digital camera?
Hey, i recently purchased the Canon digital Elph, and it really sucks at taking pictures. I mean its good overall, but it gets REALLY shaky, and i would prefer something that is very durable. I believe there are certain types of canon cameras that work really well in taking pictures. Not really interested in the whole professional camera's only small digital cameras. What are the good ones? (From canon only)
Answer:
Here, take a look.http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/specs/Canon/Actually all Canon cameras can take excellent photos. The user just has to understand the limitations under the conditions they use the cameras."REALLY" shaky shots are caused by using too slow a shutter speed when hand holding the camera. This applies to cameras that cost under $100 to the $8,000 Canon professional DSLR. Changing cameras will not solve this problem. It can be reduced some by buying a camera with built-in image stabilization system

Question : Where can I get a nifty screen protector for my Canon digital camera?
A friend told me that they make those plastic protector things (that adhere just with static electricity) for digital camera screens so you don't scratch them. he said you can get them specifically for your make and model so they fit perfectly. I have a Canon PowerShot SX110 IS. Where can I find a protector for it?
Answer:
If you chose to go with the plastic protectors go to Walmart and by the targus at 2.79 than cut them by yourself. There are 4 in the box so if you make a mistake just throw it and cut a new one.If you chose to go with a custom made one made of glass be ready to spend around 30 dollars. Is it worth it for a camera that cost 240? Your call, I chose the Targus for my G10.

Question : Suggestion for a canon digital camera?
Hi guys!I'm planning on a getting a canon digital camera (i alr have my dslr hehe) and the canon digital camera is for me and my family to share :) Yeap!Any ideas or suggestions which one i should get?
Answer:
Canon's latest EOS 7D mid-range DSLR is a pretty good option. It sports an 18 megapixel CMOS sensor, 19 point auto-focus system, an intelligent viewfinder, and 8 frames per second shooting. Additionally, it includes Canon's Dual DIGIC 4, an advanced imaging processor, which is the real engine behind EOS 7D's efficient and high resolution photography. If DSLR is not in your wish list, you can buy a Canon PowerShot or a more stylish Canon IXUS camera. IXUS range of Canon cameras is slimmer, has all the latest features, and looks elegant in hands.
