Immediate gratification is the pulse of today, and the PowerShot SD960 IS Digital ELPH with its streamlined appeal wastes no time at reminding you. "Here's a camera unlike any other." But it's the excitement of ongoing discovery - the way this camera captures the vibrant spontaneity of the world before you - that defines the lasting rewards of the PowerShot SD960 IS Digital ELPH, and the new level of pictures and HD movies that await you.

Excellent digital point-and-shoot
My last point-and-shoot was a Canon so when the CCD started to go, I looked around and got the SD960 IS. I wanted three things, (a) compact enough to fit in a short pocket, (b) high res video capable, and (c) easy to use. This model fits the bill. Even with rather large hands, the buttons are easily accessible. Since I'm used to Canon, the menus are super easy. I grabbed two 4GB SDHC cards and two extra (generic) batteries, and everything fits in a little Case Logic case (~$6 at Staples). The 4GB cards each hold 20 minutes of DVD-quality (720p) video. I'm extremely pleased with the quality of both pictures and video. The wide screen format is excellent for both pictures and video.

Great camera for its size and price.
Very compact yet takes great pictures. Controls sometimes difficult for big hands. Wide angle useful in small areas.

Canon PowerShot SD960IS
I am doing the review, but my wife is the primary user. I have also used it several times.
I like it. Not sure what else to say.
It takes good photos. Haven't tried the video feature yet. Battery life is long.
Has some pretty cool features that I have not even tried to use. Just point and shot.
That is all, for now.

Quick shutterspeed, Brilliant picture quality
This camera does everything well. The picture quality and video quality are HD for sure. Also, the shutterspeed is nice and quick. Best of all, Amazon had by far the best price around. If it didn't we would not have bought it here. But it did so we did.

Very dissapointed
Pictures not sharp and poor quality. I have the old Cannon Powershot 1000 and the picture quality is much better.

Unworkable as sold
I find it very unacceptable to pay $150 for a camera and find out that it cannot be used as sold. It does not come with a memory card and nothing in the sales information provided prior to the purchase calls this out. Therefore I will not buy another product from either the supplier or Canon.

This is the best camera for an amateur. Cannon PowerShot takes clear, perfect pictures. The PowerShot also is small enought to fit conveniently in a shirt pocket or small purse.

Not a friendly camera, I miss my Kodak easy share
I got this camera because it had such amazing reviews and because my mom had the 1100 model and I loved the pictures. I HATE THIS CAMERA!!! I had a Kodak Easy Share and I loved how the pictures turned out and how easy it was to use, but it was too bulky for a diaper bag. I got the Canon 1200 for its portability and the "amazing" pictures it claims to take. Boy am I disappointed. The auto feature is all but useless. 9 out of 10 photos taken with the auto feature turn out blurry. Even when it looks good on the screen I download them and see they are in fact blurry. (if you read a lot of reviews you will see the problems with the auto feature and blurry photos) I have missed so many cute photos of my baby due to this stupid camera. The 1100 was far superior and much more user friendly. I am not a camera person so maybe if you know the ends and outs of cameras it will work for you, but if you are just a normal person looking for a point and shoot camera THIS IS NOT FOR YOU!!

Beautiful, detailed pictures for EBay selling
This camera is great for taking pictures of items to sell on EBay. I've never had such clear detailed pictures before. I love it.

Great Camera
This is a great camera. I've only owned two digital cameras and this one is the best so far. The picture quality and features are great. It's fits easily in my purse, with a case. I was looking for a pink camera only, and this one is not only cute, it gets the job done. I would definitely recommend this camera.

Canon SD3500 IS
I purchased this new at Amazon. I wanted a pocketable p/s camera to carry for photos of opportunity not requiring a carrying case. I am comparing this camera to the following p/s I tried before settling on this one. Sony W200 - 12 megapixel - not wide angle and automatic white balance is way off...always a problem with artificial lighting. Nikon S570 - 12 megapixel - too automated and too many out of focus pictures. Sony TX1 - 10 megapixel -good pictures but not wide angle and I fear the lens cover lid will be flopping around in a few months. Sony WX1 -10 megapixel-good pictures, nice wide angle, almost a keeper. Canon SD 980 IS -12 megapixel-good pictures, older model but same price as the newer SD3500 14 megapixel. Canon A650 - 12 megapixel, very good pictures, larger sensor, folding screen, but uses AA batteries and is like carrying around half a brick. Not for the shirt pocket. First if you shoot with a p/s camera invest in Photoshop Elements and Noise Ninja if you want to make 8x10 inch prints or possibly squeeze out an 11x14 inch print. The sensor is tiny and noise is a factor which must be dealt with during editing. You will not get image quality equal to a half frame sensor. If you only want 4x6 inch prints it will not be so noticeable. Comparing the Canon SD3500 IS to the above I get acceptable prints considering the sensor size, AWB is pretty good but still needs tweaking. Nice wide angle, 24mm equivalent, fits in shirt pocket, touch screen which takes a bit of time to get used to. One factor to consider is the video mode which makes MOV files. Windows 7 will automatically convert these to WMV for watching on your computer but if you want to email WMV files you will have to find a conversion software and quality will suffer immediately. As to image quality I can only give a 4 as no 1 / 2.3" sensor will give you a 5 quality for the forseeable future. Construction appears to be good as you can get for this price range and things to watch out for is the delicate battery/memory compartment lid.

WORKS FOR ME.
I just needed a small digital camera to take quick snapshots that I could then email to friends and family. This camera works fine for my purposes. I am not planning on creating art with my snapshots. I have not had any issues with battery life so far. It is easy to plug into my Mac and transfer the pictures and then prep them for email with one click of a button. I tried using a friends older camera this past week. It was hard to hold steady and get a non-blurry picture. This Canon has image stabilization and I have not had even one blurry picture due to hands moving when I press the button. The pictures look clean and clear and in focus. I did a lot of research and this Canon was highly recommended in this price range. I would recommend this camera to a friend who was looking for a camera for the same purposes as I. My only complaint is that there seem to be a lot of symbols and functions of the camera that are not fully explained in the paper user manual that came with the product. As I use the camera more and more I will have to check and see if there is any digital manual that came with the camera that explains what all these various symbols, etc. stand for and how to use them properly. But as for just pointing and shooting snap shots, it was easy to get started. This is my first digital camera. Previously I took slides and negatives with a Canon FTb which I still have, but don't use much anymore. It's quicker and simpler to use the digital camera for snapshots to email to family than shoot, develop, print and snail mail pictures.

I'm not pleased - poor pic quality, construction not durable
I bought this camera before Christmas 2009, and took lots of pictures during the colorful holidays. I was not thrilled with the results - photos seemed dull, flat, and uninteresting. Photos taken with my 6-year-old Sony were much better! Thought about returning the camera, but couldn't be bothered. Wish I had - camera recently fell off a low end table, and the small plastic clasp for the battery/memory card compartment broke off. Now, because compartment doesn't close properly, camera doesn't always work. I have a good excuse to get a different camera - think I'll go back to Sony.

Great value
We just took this camera on an extended trip abroad and were totally delighted with it. It made our old camera that we took along for backup look mediocre. Image stabilization is very good, exposure in low lighting was impressive, and automatic settings worked well to give us impressive photos. The only surprise was that there's no selection for image quality to control the size of the files.

Don' like
Siempre tuve nikon, primero una L4 y luego una L11, pero ahora me cambiƩ para canon, .. el software es mejor del canon, pero la calidad de fotos es muy inferior la de canon.

flimsy battery and memory card cover
light weight and very cute looking......great quality photos.....however, the battery and memory card cover is very flimsy and feels like it could break with very little force. My older canon's cover worked better and felt more heavy duty.

Affordable, intuitive and fun, the PowerShot A480 uses Canon know-how to let everyone take great 10 megapixels photos. Its compact, lightweight design slips easily into any pocket.

Not up to the Canon standard AT ALL
I've had Canon ELPH/Powershot cameras for years, and have loved every one. This is the first exception. The flash has to "charge" between each photo, (what is this? a disposable?), a lot of the pictures are blurry, and the feel of the camera is clunky and plastic. There's no video, which at this point I sort of assume would be the case on all of these types of cameras. For an extra $50, the 1200 is in a totally different league. I'm still a big fan of Canon, but they've totally dropped the ball on this one.

Decent camera.
This is my first digital camera. I bought it based on the reviews on Amazon.com. I'm used to using manual SLRs so this was a change. The camera is really good for the price. Easy to use. Not super big. Decent quality pictures even in low light. I like the macro function. The pictures look a lot better on my computer than the LCD camera screen. I've only had it a month or 2 and no problems at all.

No capturing the moment - it's gone!
After 3 weeks of playing around with the settings, upgrading to photo lithium batteries, using a better memory card, etc., I finally sent the camera back. The camera took too long to focus on the subject to get a good picture. By the time it registered, the "photo moment" was gone or the picture turned out blurry. Forget action shots as there was no way this camera could keep up with any movement. The battery seemed to really lag behind between shots (about 6-8 seconds to recharge the flash) even after I changed to better batteries.
This camera was extremely aggravating to use. Thank goodness I decided to return it within my 30 days and Amazon refunded my money. I would not recommend this camera to anyone wanting to capture kids in action. The treasured moments will be long gone before the camera decides to actually take the shot (and then it might not be a clearly focused one).

First camera for 3 year old
We bought this camera from amazon as an "almost first" camera for our 3 year old daughter (her first camera, an Argus Bean, spontaneously quit working after 90 days). I think this is a fantastic camera and my daughter loves using it. We have had the camera for a couple of weeks. I read all the other reviews on amazon before making the purchase (thanks!).
While we love the camera, I am still not sure this camera will ultimately be sturdy enough for use by a 3 year old. Our daughter is very careful with stuff and always uses the camera with the wrist strap, but with the lens extended, I fear it is only a matter of time until she bumps it into something or drops it on the floor. So I am not sure I can recommend it as a sturdy first camera - time will tell. But the design is very simple, it is a good size for her tiny hands (she is small for 3), and she is learning how to use functions like zoom and flash pretty quickly. And she loves taking pictures!
I also want to point out that the camera does a surprising good job with macro shots. I am a casual photographer but I love taking close ups of flowers, textures, etc. and I recently purchased a Canon SX 200 IS (also from amazon). The SX 200 is a fine camera and it does do great macros but, for my simple needs, if I had it to do all over again, I would be tempted to save some bucks and buy one of these instead. Nice design.

Cannon camera review
Very pleased with the camera. There is just one thing that has a concern with me and that is that I have adjusted all the sounds that I can on the camera but I have never heard the 2 beeps when you push the shutter 1/2 way done to let you know that the picture is in focus.

Question : Where can I get a nifty screen protector for my Canon digital camera?
A friend told me that they make those plastic protector things (that adhere just with static electricity) for digital camera screens so you don't scratch them. he said you can get them specifically for your make and model so they fit perfectly. I have a Canon PowerShot SX110 IS. Where can I find a protector for it?
Answer:
If you chose to go with the plastic protectors go to Walmart and by the targus at 2.79 than cut them by yourself. There are 4 in the box so if you make a mistake just throw it and cut a new one.If you chose to go with a custom made one made of glass be ready to spend around 30 dollars. Is it worth it for a camera that cost 240? Your call, I chose the Targus for my G10.

Question : What kind of batteries should be used with Canon Digital camera A 570? Any specific brand?
I have recently purchased Canon A 570 Digital camera. The batteries have gone dead I have replaced the old Panasonic batteries with brand new Duracell battery however the moment I inserted the batteries I get battery low display. Are there any specific brands that we have to purchase and any specific model? Can we use rechargeable batteries?Which recharger should I use? Any specific brand? Please let me know the exact name of the model/brand of batteries.
Answer:
Yes, of course you can use rechargeable batteries. In fact, that's what you SHOULD use. Any good name brand of rechargeable NiMh battery and charger will do. Make sure they are high capacity (something like Energizer 2700mAh or higher).Your camera only uses 2 AA batteries, so make sure you buy 4 batteries and a charger that can charge 4 batteries at a time, so you always have a spare set.To lengthen your battery life, make sure you turn off the LCD in between shots, and also limit the use of the flash, zoom and recording of movies.Make sure you always give the batteries a charge before you plan to use the camera. Especially if you have not used it in a while, because NiMh batteries will discharge at the rate of about 1/2 -1% per day when not used. You can also use Lithium batteries (such as Energizer e2). They are non rechargeable and fairly expensive, but provide a much longer battery life than ordinary batteries. They are perfect as an emergency backup...and the good thing about them is that they do not discharge when not used.good luck...

Question : What canon digital camera body do you recommend to fit my sigma zoom lenses?
I have a Canon EOS Rebel G that came with a 28-80 mini zoom macro and a 70-300 macro super.....I want to get a digital that i can still use my lenses on.Any recommendations? Would it be cheaper to get just the body? Im looking in the $500 range.I am not a pro, but hope to get a good camera to learn that will last.
Answer:
Sure, you can buy something like the entry level Canon Rebel XSi or XS and will save buy buying only the body. If you want a wide angle lens, you will find the "kit" lens (18-55 mm IS) will give you a decent wide angle view.

Question : How do I unlock my memory card on my Canon digital camera?
I have a Canon Power Shot SD1000 Digital Elph. I have a memory card that I took pictures on, and somehow the memory card is locked. I let someone hold my camera, so I don't know how it got locked in the first place. It won't let me access my photos, and I know it's the memory card not the camera because the other memory card works. What do I do?!?!?!
Answer:
If you look at the memory card it self there should be a small switch on it. Slide it back and your ready to go!

Question : How do I upgrade the lens of my canon powershot digital camera?
I have a canon digital camera with a 4x optical zoom. what kind of lens do i look for to upgrade to higher zoom? I am pretty camera dumb but am getting into pics so want a camera that wont get blurry upon getting far a way pics.I found telephoto lenses that are 3x does that mean that my new zoom would be 7x since I already have a 4x or does it replace what the camera already has? This is where I am getting confused.
Answer:
Most cheaper non-DSLR cameras will not allow you to upgrade: the most you could hope to do is get an adapter piece and a telephoto mount for it. This only works if you actually spent good money on that camera, though since most don't afford it. Plus, telephotos are not worth the money if the zoom is that low, so you should just get a new camera in my opinion.Edit: A telephoto will compound with your camera's optical zoom, so 4x3 = 12x zoom. I should warn that most telephotos tend to make it more difficult to hold your camera in a balanced way and usually require their own stands if you want a clean shot.

Question : Suggestion for a canon digital camera?
Hi guys!I'm planning on a getting a canon digital camera (i alr have my dslr hehe) and the canon digital camera is for me and my family to share :) Yeap!Any ideas or suggestions which one i should get?
Answer:
Canon's latest EOS 7D mid-range DSLR is a pretty good option. It sports an 18 megapixel CMOS sensor, 19 point auto-focus system, an intelligent viewfinder, and 8 frames per second shooting. Additionally, it includes Canon's Dual DIGIC 4, an advanced imaging processor, which is the real engine behind EOS 7D's efficient and high resolution photography. If DSLR is not in your wish list, you can buy a Canon PowerShot or a more stylish Canon IXUS camera. IXUS range of Canon cameras is slimmer, has all the latest features, and looks elegant in hands.

Question : Canon digital camera and other non canon lens?
I have a Canon Digital Rebel XT and I was wondering what other kinds of non canon brand lenses can I use with my camera? Currently I use a Canon 50mm 1.8 and the 18-55mm kit lens.
Answer:
Some lenses to consider are those from Sigma, Tamron, and Tokina. On average, each lens does not do as well as their Canon or Nikon counterparts, but still get the job done. If you want quality, get Canon lenses. If you want a cheap alternative, go to the third party brands. As for specifics, I use a Tamron 70-300mm f4-5.6 at the moment, but am going to upgrade to a 70-200mm VR once I save up enough money. The Tamron is good for the money, but slow to focus. I hear this also plagues the type with the built in motor. The type of lens you want depends on the type of shooting you're going to do. If you shoot landscapes, look into a wide angle lens, such as the Sigma 10-20mm or Tamron 17-50mm. For telephoto zoom, the 70-200mm f2.8 Tamron would be a good option. I don't care too much for the Sigma, because there are issues with the outer coating. For portrait work, I've heard good things about the Tamron 90mm macro, or the Sigma 70mm macro. I have not used Tonkina, but some people say they are good, while others do not. I guess the same goes for Sigma, but not so much with Tamron.
