Best Point and Shoot
I have owned multiple cameras in the Canon Powershot series. I bought this camera almost two years ago and it is still fantastic camera. I have travelled all over the world with this camera and it inevitably takes better photos than any of my friends' point-and-shoot cameras. Although the automatic settings work well, I love its manual features and use them frequently to improve the shot. The manual settings are easy to use and show up on the LCD screen, so you do not need to be a professional to adjust the ISO, exposure, etc.
I have printed poster-size images by this camera and they look professional. I am often complimented on my posters and people are always surprised that I took the pictures using a point-and-shoot camera.
Best features: AA batteries (a lifesaver when electricity is unavailable or you forgot to charge the batteries fully) Optical viewfinder (great for poor lighting environments or to save battery life by turning the LCD off) Manual settings

Cannon Camera
I am very happy with this camera. It takes very nice pictures and is a perfect compact size. When taking pictures, there is a small delay between pictures but I knew this from research before buying.

lens error
I purchased this camera for my daughter. She loved the quality of pictures she got from it. However, in three weeks time she got the dreaded "lens error" message and the lens wouldn't completely retract. We sent it in for warranty service. After a week's wait was was back as good as new. Within a couple of weeks, it was back to a lens error status. Not wanting her to be without a camera again we went to a local Radio Shack and got her a Nikon Coolpix. It's OK but doesn't produce the quality of pictures she wants. This is our 4th canon and the first one we've had trouble with. I would like to buy her an ELPH but am not really trusting canon right now

Easy Digital Camera which make a good gift
This Digital camera makes a perfect gift to anybody in your family especially elders. I gifted this to my mom and she loves the camera. She did not had to go through the entire manual to operate this camera. Ofcourse you need to have minimum common sense which I guess most of us have :). The other reason why I took this camera was that it operated using the cell battery which you can get it in any store all over the world. Since my mom was traveling I wanted to get her something to use which would not need a voltage converter etc etc. I did not want my mom to carry a converter so I looked in specific for a camera that would run on cell batteries as she can get it anywhere she wants. So now she doesn't have to carry the silly camera battery charger with her. SO all she had to do was pop in new batteries. The picture transfer was easy she did not had to go through a lot of hassle. The picture quality was good. The camera was very portable and you can carry around where ever you want to . Over all its a good camera and easy to use.

Customer Review :
Seems pretty sturdy
Obviously there are already a slew of reviews for this but I wanted to add my two cents. I upgraded from a Canon Powershot S30 (awesome camera) to this about two years ago and have liked it quite a bit. It is a very comfortable camera to hold and the buttons are easy to find and reach, not in the way. It takes very clear pictures, although if you are using it for any nighttime shooting I would recommend using a tripod because it has a tendancy to want to blur more at night. I do wish that the macro setting was capable of a little more, but it still works well. Also the battery lasts for a long time between charges, though my view on this may be slightly skewed as the battery in my old camera wouldn't even last a day.
The titanium casing on this camera is one of my favorite features because I tend to be very rough on my things. My camera has been dropped or squished a few times with no real ill effects. I've had it drop into a creek before while hiking around and after sticking it in my oven at 100 degrees F for an hour and then letting it air out for a couple of days it seems to work fine. I was sure that it was fried but the internal clock and buttons and all still work, so I am very happy with the camera.

Great Image quality, but SLOW shutter
I bought this camera shortly before the birth of my first child. Frankly, the camera has been wonderful in every way except for one -- the shutter speed. It doesn't matter if the flash is off, where the settings are, etc. --- From the moment you hit the button to take the picture, it takes nearly a second to capture the photo. I have SO MANY photos of my son with his eyes closed, or blurred images from making a sudden movement, etc. Trying to take a picture while he is moving is impossible -- especially in the higher megapixel range. If you're trying to capture that "perfect moment" I would recommend something a little better.
Our Friends went out and bought a Canon Rebel xsi when we bought our SD950, which is, granted a DSLR camera. They have remarkable pictures! We would be in the same room, shooting the exact same material of our kids going down an inflatable slide, or playing in a ball-pit and *they* have wonderful pictures, and we have very poor pictures.
So, I'm going to hang on to this camera for group photos, scenery photos, and will not hesitate to take it on vacation with me due to it's portability -- but I will be buying a Canon Rebel xsi for those moments when the SD950 will not do.

Died after 14 months
Great camera. Did everything I wanted it to until one day it just died. I'd only had the camera for just over a year. I didn't drop it, it wasn't wet, and it wasn't poorly treated. In fact I had a special case for it and babied the camera. The batteries were fine, it just died. Now I have to pay an additional $200 to have it repaired.

LOVE this camera! Taken thousands of pictures with it!!
I pretty much love everything about this little point and shoot camera. I have taken this camera from the ski slopes, Disney World, and to the tops of mountains...and it performed well in all conditions. This is the first digital camera I purchased myself and I will be sure to keep purchasing Canon cameras in the future. Shutter speed for action shots, sub-par low light shooting, and extremely large video files are the only complaints I have. Otherwise...this is the camera you want!

Great camera
This camera is wonderful. I haven't mastered all the functions yet, but it is user friendly enough that until I have time to do more experimenting, I can get some great pictures.

Question : Which is the best canon digital camera?
Hey, i recently purchased the Canon digital Elph, and it really sucks at taking pictures. I mean its good overall, but it gets REALLY shaky, and i would prefer something that is very durable. I believe there are certain types of canon cameras that work really well in taking pictures. Not really interested in the whole professional camera's only small digital cameras. What are the good ones? (From canon only)
Answer:
Here, take a look.http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/specs/Canon/Actually all Canon cameras can take excellent photos. The user just has to understand the limitations under the conditions they use the cameras."REALLY" shaky shots are caused by using too slow a shutter speed when hand holding the camera. This applies to cameras that cost under $100 to the $8,000 Canon professional DSLR. Changing cameras will not solve this problem. It can be reduced some by buying a camera with built-in image stabilization system

Question : How do I upgrade the lens of my canon powershot digital camera?
I have a canon digital camera with a 4x optical zoom. what kind of lens do i look for to upgrade to higher zoom? I am pretty camera dumb but am getting into pics so want a camera that wont get blurry upon getting far a way pics.I found telephoto lenses that are 3x does that mean that my new zoom would be 7x since I already have a 4x or does it replace what the camera already has? This is where I am getting confused.
Answer:
Most cheaper non-DSLR cameras will not allow you to upgrade: the most you could hope to do is get an adapter piece and a telephoto mount for it. This only works if you actually spent good money on that camera, though since most don't afford it. Plus, telephotos are not worth the money if the zoom is that low, so you should just get a new camera in my opinion.Edit: A telephoto will compound with your camera's optical zoom, so 4x3 = 12x zoom. I should warn that most telephotos tend to make it more difficult to hold your camera in a balanced way and usually require their own stands if you want a clean shot.
