Sleek, compact, durable and convenient

I have taken over 100 pics so far with this new camera and havent run into a single issue.
Zoom is good, quick pic taking is good, i like the confirmation beep, love the large screen, scrolling review is a breeze.
All good, I would recommend this camera to anyone.

For the kids, maybe. For yourself, pick something else.

I bought this on sale from Amazon because it was cheap, and the reviews were good. After using it for two months, I have to say that I'm disappointed with the pictures. Colors just aren't vibrant, nor are they particularly accurate. The time between red-eye flash and real flash is way too long, and it's so bright that most subjects think it's the main flash and move before the picture snaps. I've had to retake so many pictures because of this. Videos are poor quality, very grainy and low frame rate. Like other cameras in its class, the battery has to be charged in a separate charger instead of simply plugging a power cord into the camera.

On the plus side, it's easy to use. It has the usual presets which can be selected by scrolling through sample scenes. You just pick the scene that's similar to the one you're taking.

I also have a Fuji Finepix J20 for comparison. Picture and video quality of the Exilim is markedly inferior to the Fuji. Although the Exilim is $50 cheaper, the savings isn't worth it. I'm giving this to the kids.

good camera for the price I paid - WAIT - read the UPDATE!

This camera is good. It is easy to use. The picture quality is excellent. The only problem is that it does not take batteries, so you have to make sure you charge it up everytime you plan to go somewhere. It's not like you can pack a couple extra double A batteries in your pocket just in case. When the battery runs out, you're cooked usless you can get to a computer or electrical outlet to charge her back up.
WAIT A MINUTE - just when I thought it was safe to put up a positive review...now the battery has decided that it can recharge in about 4 minutes, but then when you go to use it, you can only take about 5 pics before it runs out. So, left it charging for a couple hours, but then used it for 5 minutes and guess what? ran out in 5 mins again. Basically the camera is useless now and I wish I had my money back.

Rating :

Good for the Price

For the price of about $80 something dollars, it was pretty good. It does its job by taking pictures. The seller shipped it to me fairly quickly.

With this camera, beware that the image quality on the video is grainy when you zoom. Otherwise, video quality is average. If you take a picture without flash in a dark area, the picture will come out blurry.

Basically, u get what you pay for and for the price I paid, it was worth it.

This 10.1 effective-megapixel high-speed digital camera boasts a wide-angle 24 mm 10x optical zoom lens in a compact body that makes it easy to carry anywhere. It also gives users a maximum burst rate of 40 shots per second for still images (maximum image size of 9.0 megapixels and maximum shooting capacity of 30 shots) that can now be used to photograph distant subjects thanks to the high-power zoom. It also enables up to 1,000 fps high-speed movie recording that captures motion that is ordinarily too fast for the human eye to see. The EX-FH100 allows users ranging from advanced amateur photographers to beginners to enjoy high-speed burst shooting. It is equipped with a mode dial that enables manual exposure burst shooting and also has a mode that makes high-speed burst shooting easy, a feature that sets the burst shooting speed to the optimal rate just by selecting the type of scene. Plus, enjoy high-quality photography even in dim indoor lighting by using a highly sensitive CMOS sensor.

A really decent camera!

This camera replaced a several year old Canon point and shoot, last in a line of point and shoot Canons, and it compares vary favorably with them all. I'm still fooling with it, but I have had the most satisfying results in natural light using the red square and "A" exposure settings. The "BS" setting doesn't give me the pictures I want. I added a slave flash that's much bigger than the camera and I'm set for portraits and small groups of people. It's a bit slow cycling between exposures, and the built in flash isn't terribly powerful. My pictures are generally very sharp with minimal artifacts. I haven't used the movie mode yet and may never. The camera is a bit too small, so it's hard to touch the "on" button without looking at it, and it could use a bigger grip surface. The camera seems much more solid than my old Canons. The focus speed is not outstanding. On power up/down, the noise the lens makes extending/retracting into the body is disturbing, but it seems to just be a feature of this camera. Battery and memory card access is top notch. The Casio has been able to capture images that compare favorably with ones I've taken with my Canon Rebel DSLR, but of course the little Casio is usable over a narrower range of exposure situations. This is really a usable camera, especially considering the price. Sharp photos! Just OK image stabilization. I think I like it, but I'll be sure in several years. It's less of a compromise camera than I thought.

Casio High-Speed useful for High speed and stills

This is an amazing camera. for stills and slow motion it is beyond compare. For HD video or SD video at 30 frames per second it is useless. Even with a Class 10 Memory device the motion is sped up and jumpy. Worse than that is that you can not zoom while filming NORMAL video without popping/cracking noise going to the audio track.

Rating :

Great camera overall!

I've played with this camera for a week and I love it. It looks nice, fits in your pocket, and it's amazingly fun to play with the slow motion video.

The pictures are great. I'm not a big photography expert, so I can't say too much about the picture quality. Compared to other point-and-shoot cameras I've owned like the Canon PowerShot SD870, it's just as good if you're taking normal pictures. However for low light and high speed, this camera kicks ass.

But mainly I played with video, it was the main reason I bought this camera. So far it met my expectations. It's really fun and it's just like what you see on YouTube. It's great for analyzing your golf swing or martial arts. It also works in room lighting, but it can be a bit dark at 420-1000fps. When you're outdoors, it works perfect. The resolution at 1000fps is quite small though but it works very well.

One minor downside is that the built-in memory is very slow, so when you first get the camera, your experience will be inferior. It will not have much capacity, your HD video recording/playback will be slow and jumpy (as another reviewer pointed out), and 1000fps videos will take a long time to record, and some videos may skip frames. But since I put in a Class 6 8GB SD card, all those problems went away.

I've had no issues transferring the videos/pictures to my computer via SD or usb plug.

Overall I think it's great value and I would recommend it.

Best High-Speed Photo and Video for the Money

I purchased this camera to be a compact point-and-shoot that I could take with me everywhere. The main purpose, for me, was to photograph and video my newborn daughter.

With those expectations set, I was extremely pleased with the camera! It certainly won't compare to a DSLR in terms of photo quality, or a dedicated video camera in terms of movie quality- but for the size and price,it's great.

When I started shopping, I had a few important criteria. Note that these criteria immediately rule out any sort of DSLR (mainly due to size and price)

Must Have features:
- Portability: I needed a pocket-ish-sized camera, one that I could take everywhere.
- Affordability: I was on a relatively strict budget of under $400.
- HD Video: I wanted to be able to record at least 720p.

Desireable features:
- High-speed photo: This is an incredible feature for photographing action (and babies, children, animals, etc).
- High-speed video: I have always loved high-speed (slow-motion) video.
- * Shockproof / waterproof: I plan to do a lot of outdoor photography, so this would be nice.

Ultimately, the Casio ticked off all the boxes save for that last one- it is not waterproof, nor (I imagine) very shockproof. My wife also owned an older Casio Exilim model, and we've been very happy with it, in terms of size versus image quality. So I made my decision, and went with the fh-100.

So far, I've been quite pleased with the camera. It takes fairly nice-looking photos and HD video, and the high-speed features are tremendously fun.

If you are interested, you can check out my YouTube channel for examples of HD and high-speed video, and my picasa albums for examples of photo quality:

[...]

My main complaints, after a few months' usage, largely boil down to missing "wishlist" features, and other "hey, it's a point-and-shoot" type of issues:

- Limited aperture range:. It's a beefy camera, but it's still a point-and-shoot.
- No intervalometer: This has forced me to use other cameras for time lapse photography.
- No zoom or autofocus (or manual focus, for that matter) while recording video.
- No A/C power: Not uncommon with cameras, but worth mentioning.
- 4GB video limit: It does not continue to shoot video once the 4GB file size limit is reached, without manual intervention.

Those last two complaints make it difficult to take long video, even with a large memory card.

Clearly these are all minor issues. I would love to see an intervalometer added via some sort of software update, but otherwise I am quite happy with the camera.

The battery life is great, but it's still worth buying an extra battery in my opinion, so you're never waiting for it to charge. (Also, I have an Eye-Fi card- which is like a battery vampire)

pretty good overall lil guy

All the little point shoots have their pluses and minuses. For me this one is a great camera so far.

It's a little "too big" "too heavy" but so is everything else in the class.

+10x zoom
+battery life
+24mm
+++super slo mo

picture quality is pretty much as good as anything else except maybe for the s90 but then you don't get the extras.

just my opinion. if you want the BEST pic quality and big zoom probably go for the pany but if you want a lot of fun and ALMOST the best picture quality get this.

If all you want is BEST pic get s90

PS. Not to sound too smarmy but I've met women after shooting their dogs in super slow mo and showing it to them. EVERYONE LOVES IT> This feature almost makes the camera (or the fc 100/150 etc) worth it. Luckily it also takes pretty great pics too.

Casio Exilim EX-G1

I like this camera! I wanted a good, rugged, waterproof digital camera and I researched these attributes extensively! Something I could take in the woods or when I went kayaking, carry in my pocket and take with me wherever without worrying to much about damaging it from an accidental drop! I have read reviews of the many manufactures of rugged cameras and I chose Casio because I have been wearing Casio rugged G-Shock watches for years, which have lasted for years and I'm sure if I replaced the battery would still be running now! I'm not a camera buff but I like what I see when I take a picture! I can't judge video quality because I haven't used this feature! Overall I like this camera, it is a little small for my hands but I don't find it to difficult to use. I need to buy a camera float and that will happen in the near future or I might just make up a tether for now!
All I hope is that it lasts as well as my Casio watches and I'll be pleased! Only time will tell!

Pros:

* Stylish
* Delightfully thin
* Waterproof (10 feet)
* Shockproof (7 feet)
* Freeze proof (14 deg F)
* Big bright LCD screen
* Adequate user interface
* Fairly quick boot time (I'm used to a DSLR)
* Quick shutter response
* USB connection treated like thumb drive

Cons:

* Battery requires special tool for removal
* Battery removal required for recharge
* Battery life
* Does not charge via USB
* Lag time between photos
* f/3.9-5.4 (~7mm to 20mm)

Thoughts:

I loved carrying around this camera in my pocket. I hardly knew it was there. I felt comfortable taking it to the beach, or poolside. It's also very good looking. It really stands out from the rest of the point-and-shoot designs. It's just a pain to change out that battery! I'm supposed to keep this little plastic tool clipped on to the wrist strap, according to the instructions. If I did, it would easily fall off and be lost, and then I'd be up a creek. In a pinch, a guitar pick might do the trick, but WOW, a special tool? Really? That was their solution? Too bad it doesn't charge over the USB cable. Then you wouldn't need to take the battery out - problem solved.

I'm really on the fence over returning it.

As for photo quality, it's auto ISO lands on 1600 pretty regularly, and it looks terribly grainy. The 3x zoom is barely adequate, and the videos are pretty small (680x450 pixels or so).

Summary:

Stylish, waterproof and wonderfully portable with a quick startup time. All but brightest lighting conditions produce grainy photos. Minimal zoom, and a special tool is needed to get the battery out for charges. I might have to settle for something that's bulkier and ordinary but takes better photos.

Defective out the box

This Compact digital is well designed and comfortable to use.
The camera has a active video zoom and shoots an excellent HD video,
However in this particular case the sound would stop recording about 10 seconds into the recording.
I liked the camera and would have kept it had it not been for that out the box flaw.
The picture quality had greatly improved over previous casio camera that created grainy pictures.

Questions & Answers
Question : Does anyone know where I can find a new usb cable for my Casio Exilim EXZ75 digital camera?
I recently lost the usb cable for my Casio Exilim EXZ75 digital camera. Someone told me to get a card reader. Does a card reader work the same way? Which is better an usb cable or card reader?

Answer:
The USB cable applicable to your camera is proprietary. You can search the internet to find it, but contacting Casio is the easiest. Expect to pay $40+ for a new cable.Even better, just grab a card reader. It does almost everything. In terms of transferring photos, it works better (they're faster). If you want the advanced software upgrade features, or want to download images from the internal memory then you will need the cable. Note that software updates are not recommended to be taken on my novices and internal memory images can be copied to a memory card in the camera.Where to find a card reader? Well your computer might already have it. HP/Compaq has had them for a while on many models. If your computer has it, it will be on the front of your computer and one will be markes SD.If your computer doesn't have it, buy one. They start at around $15 at local stores and can be as low as $2 on http://dealextreme.com (expect to wait 4-6weeks for shipping and questionable quality). You want an SD card reader, but a multi-reader can't hurt. It'll plug into any USB port.

I've had it for a couple years and out of nowhere it won't let me download pictures off of it. It says it "doesn't recognize" it. I was thinking maybe I needed to re-install it. But I lost the disk.

First of all, do not save any new file to camer's memory card.Take out memory card, and connect it to computer using a card reader. You should see memory card shown as a drive letter (like H:) in Windows Explorer.Download recover software asoftech photo recovery. Install and open asoftech photo recovery, select the memory card, and click 'Start' button.http://www.asoftech.com/apr/
