Casio EXILIM EX-FS10 Digital Camera Features By reducing the size of the circuitry and the image sensor units, Casio has produced the super-slim EX-FS10, which offers a high-speed 30 shot-per-second burst rate and high-speed movies at a maximum of 1000 fps. It also delivers a number of other innovative functions, including the ability to capture a still image while viewing the movement of the subject in slow motion and automatically selecting and saving one frame from continuous shots. The Exilim EX-FS10 measures just 3.8 inches wide, 2.3 inches high and .64 inches thin. It features a newly-developed 3x optical inner-zoom lens and a 2.5-inch high-performance Super Clear LCD. This high-speed model also boasts an effective 9.1-megapixel resolution. Casio Exilim EX-FS10 Highlights30 shot-per-second high-speed burst shooting The EX-FS10 can take up to 30 shots per second of high-resolution 6.0-megapixel images. What’s more, it can save up to 25 frames prior to the instant that the shutter button is actually pressed, so even if the user hits the shutter a bit late, that special moment will not be missed. The number of shots per second can be set at 30, 15, 10, 5, 3 or auto, and the user can set the total number of shots in one burst at 30, 20, 10 or 5. Also, a number of images from a burst can be combined into a single image. Wonderful Camera
I got this camera for it's high speed shutter capability, up to 1000 fps. I was surprized how small it is and how great it's images and video is.

Great features if you can learn to use them
We purchased this little camera for its feature of 30 frames per second shooting and it does. We are able to catch the grand kids in poses impossible at the slow delayed shutter time of normal digital cameras. The camera is compact and the photos good quality. Problem is learning to use it. The instruction book is not well-written, so trial and error is the only way to learn to use the non-intuitive controls of the camera, After several weeks, we are still learning. If and when we can consistently do the things we want to do, we will be very happy with this little machine. The company had the smarts to make a camera with this capability, why could they not hire a qualified writer/editor to write the manual?

EX-FS10
I bought this specifically to have fun with the slow motion features. But I was amazed at the great quality of the HD 720p video that this takes, and the decent still pictures. The slow motion features are really fun, but they do need plenty of light to make the quality of the movie decent. Another nice feature is the ability to 'put reality in slow motion'. It records a stream of full size images, and shows them to you in slow motion,(adjustable), as they are cycling, you can choose one to save. (In another mode you can save the whole lot.) It has many more special modes and features which are described on the manual in a pdf file on the included CD. In low light, the slo-mo is virtually unusable. I would recommend this as a fun video camera, not as a still image camera with some bonus features. The slo-mo stuff works great, the only down side is that the faster you go, the smaller the resolution of the movie. At 1000fps you have a narrow band of a movie. For most things the 210 fps at 480x360 resolution is perfect. The 420 fps records at 224 x 168 and the 1000fps 224 x 64.
In conclusion, its a fantastic toy at a great price. If you like playing with blocks, water, nerf guns, etc. this will make it 10x more fun!

Nice features, but overall just average
If you are thinking about buying this camera, it's probably because of one major thing: the high speed burst/movie mode (an extremely cool feature that, at this time, isn't found on many cameras... and this one is definitely the smallest and most portable right now).
This functionality branches off into 3 very unique modes:
1) a fast 30 frame per second high speed burst shot that lets you keep all, some, or none of the shots you take while holding down the shutter button. 2) a slow motion button that literally slows down the image of your target on the LCD screen and allows you to snap the exact moment you want. 3) a high speed movie mode that lets you capture up to 1000 frames per second for super-slow motion movies.
These functions sold me, and were the main reason I wanted the camera. I have to say that they are slightly disappointing after working with them for a little over a month. All of the slow motion modes are completely unusable under even the slightest of low light conditions. Because of this, I can't use any of these modes indoors at all. Anything shot without the flash comes out as a dark, grainy mess. With regards to the high speed movies, this should really have been labeled as a 210 fps or maybe 420 fps movie mode, because 1000 fps is completely unwatchable. It shoots at an extremely low resolution and requires an immense amount of light to even show up.
Image quality for normal shots is slightly below average. Photos usually come out as very grainy and again require a lot of light. Flash photos come out decent. I seem to have much better luck from other cameras I've owned from Canon and Sony for any kind of indoor photography. The one area the ex-fs10 does seem to work well with is some still low-light photographs. A feature called high speed nightscene uses a method of taking several highspeed photographs at once and melding them into one photo to produce a better photo than you would get under normal circumstances. This prevents a lot of the blur you normally get when using higher ISO's during low light conditions. The same principle is also used in an anti-shake best shot mode, which works reasonably well.
The high definition (720p) movie mode is a nice feature, but also tends to come out grainy in low-light conditions, and again is virtually unusable indoors. It has extreme difficulty staying focused and often tends to go in and out of focus.
As for size and quality of build: The camera is extremely small and light, and will easily fit in medium-sized pockets. It also has a very sturdy and nice feel to it.
Overall, I still think the only reason to buy this camera is if you are extremely interested in the slow-motion modes. They are great if you want to capture fast paced action under high-light conditions (outdoors); however, they severely suffer under low-light conditions. If you are worried about image quality, I'd probably look elsewhere though.

Not a bad camera depending on what you are looking for
Pros: nice features, lightweight, compact, minimal shutter lag
Cons: battery life, noisy at low light
First, if you take a lot of photos during the evening, or in low-light situations, stop reading and look for another camera. The biggest issue with this camera is that it tends to be a little "noisy" at ISO400 and higher, even when using the flash. To be honest, you're better off getting one of the Canon Powershots or investing in a baseline DSLR. As always, when buying any camera, figure out what you want to use it for before looking.
Photos During the daytime however, the camera takes some pretty nice shots. The nice thing about it is that the auto function combined with Casio's "Best Shot" menu make it easier to set for different situations. The best ISO setting would probably be between the 100-200 range. The optional 30 fps high speed setting is pretty impressive for a point and shoot. This is great for sporting events, or trying to nail a shot of the little one chasing the dog. The auto white balance is a little off at times, but there's also an option to adjust it manually, so not that big of a deal. The camera uses digital zoom, which isn't that great. Even in daylight, it's difficult to get a clean shot zoomed in.
Videos First, the slow motion option for videos is AMAZING. Being the only consumer camera with this option it's a really fun feature to play with. However, it suffers from the same type of noise in poor light, even if you are in a room with the curtains drawn. In order to take a nice clean video using a framerate of 210 fps or higher, you'll need to be outdoors in bright sunlight. The same applies to 30fps, although the noise isn't as bad. The resolution becomes lower as you increase the fps. the 30-210 and 210 fps settings seem to be the best. While 1000 fps is really nice, the quality is a bit poor, and the files tend to be huge. If you're planning to do a lot of slow motion video, you'll want to get a memory card that is decent size (at least 4GB). 3 minutes of vid shot at 210fps is roughly 300-400 MB in size. The camera will also shoot HD vids at 720p, but it's not that spectacular. There have been comments about the camera not auto-focusing during video. This isn't entirely true. You'll need to turn continuous AF on before you start as well as set the type of auto focus you want (spot, tracking, etc). By default, the continual AF option is turned off. What you cannot really do is AF after the camera zooms in, so there is a limit.
Battery Life Battery life it terrible. Another reviewer mentioned that it only lasts 2.5 hours, and he's pretty much right. That time is cut even shorter when filmining videos. Note that the battery has a capacity of 750 mAh, which is not much. In comparison, the Nikon battery for the D90 is 1500 maH and lasts much longer. So if you're planning a long trip, you might want to bring a spare.
Overall, I'm very happy with the camera. I didn't buy it for taking pictures, but more for using the slow motion feature, and it's slim, compact design. Again, if you're looking to replace your point and shoot, I suggest looking at Canon or Nikon as they are much more versatile.

This camera works great, no complaints, but it was an emotional purchase, not a practical one. Prices went way down for this model after I purchased it. Love the color.

Is not a point & shoot -- pictures are consistently poor quality
I have not had any mechanical problems with this camera (and even downloading the new firmware to accommodate SDHC was issue-free), but I'm realizing I should've moved on a long time ago. Not only are different picture settings difficult and time consuming to adjust (almost completely through navigating numerous menus on-screen), they don't even help with the outcome. Low-light settings produce completely blurry or dark pictures, and indoor flash makes most pictures over-exposed. Image stabilization is a joke, and given the negligible weight of this camera, the pictures really need a good one, unfortunately. The Best Shot scene selections also do not help produce a clear photo, or one with accurate overall color. I'm not a camera expert but am skilled enough to play around with the settings and experiment, but still have not found any settings to be helpful, so I am really concluding that this camera is just of poor quality. I would say, in general, avoid this line and probably Casio in general. I just see other brands performing much better.

Lens mechanism is fragile, but quick startup and great pictures
I have owned this camera for several years now and I decided to write a review after the camera finally died.
Within the first week, I experienced the lens error/gear grinding that many other reviewers have written about. I sent the camera back for service and it was taken care of under warranty, but it was a little inconvenient to be without my brand new camera for a while.
The second camera worked great for a while, but eventually it tried to turn on in a pocket and I had the lens/gear grinding issue again. After turning it on and off a few times, the camera seemed to sort itself out. I bought a small case for it, mainly to keep it from turning on when not in use and damaging the extending lens. One day I thinking about what a poor design it was and decided to poke around the menus. I found the option that allows you to 'deactivate' the power on button on the back that accidentally gets pushed and causes everyone problems! It allows you to designate the tiny, recessed power button on the top as the only way to turn it on. This button has never been accidentally pressed and I had no issues with the camera after that adjustment. It would have been nice to come with that as the default setting from the factory. It sounds like it would have saved many people from breaking their lenses.
I have always been very satisfied with the quality of the photos and virtually any dificult lighting situation has been overcome with some minor adjustments on the menu or the simple use of the flash. This camera's tiny size has made it the perfect party companion and I have countless pictures from bars and clubs that would not have been taken if I had to carry a bulkier camera around. The convenience and tiny size alone has made this camera worth every penny. It starts up quickly and is ready to take a picture as soon as you are. The focus doesn't hunt around and the time between shots is short enough that I don't notice it.
Sadly, my girlfriend dropped the camera on the floor in Vegas and I got the lens error message again. It won't focus now and makes funny clicking noises. I don't abuse my things, but I didn't treat this camera as carefully as an egg either. I'm not sure how its durability measures up against other cameras, but I'm disappointed with the durability of the extending lens mechanism. This camera has been with me during many wonderful memories and I would buy another one if Casio resolved the lens issue.

I love this camera. This is my third, becasue they have either been stolen or broken. Don't drop it because it is very fragile ( I work with kids, so they are always getting their hands on it). But the pic quality is great. I love it!

Takes a lickin'
I bought the red (orange?) version of this camera about 4 years ago and it has gone EVERYWHERE with me. Literally in my purse everyday, it has survived the beach, a 7th grade classroom, and hundreds of other venues. I LOVE the size--it fit in a cell phone case (which I could attach to a belt loop!). It took great pictures (comparable to my Canon Rebel XT in auto)--especially considering the portability.
At about 3 1/2 years, the cover over the lens was sticking when turned off (I had to tap it gently for the "door" to snap closed), and now approaching 4 years, it has died. Unit will charge, lens will come out when turned on, but LCD shows nothing and no buttons will work. But after 4 years of wear, use, and abuse, I am beyond thrilled with this camera and am looking at another Exilim!

Casio rip-off
My camera went bad from a VERY COMMONLY reported manufacturing defect "camera stabilizer is not available" error message in the model I had. Since this is a common defect from the manufacture, they should have fixed my camera at their expense, but they refused to fix it without me having to pay for their manufacturing defect plus shipping charges! Don't buy Casio products! They don't stand behind the quality of their products.

This is a great little camera!
This is my third Casio Exilim EX-s600. It is by far the best little camera I have ever owned. My first one was stolen (lost?) - My second one was dropped in the ocean, (bad idea) but nothing else seems to deter its mission to make quality point and shoot pictures. The only trouble with this camera, they are very hard to find anymore. Even if you have to pay some extra high bucks for a used one on e-bay or Amazon, it's worth it.

Superb camera!
I have this camera in orange that I bought in Zurich in '05, and I love it. I've used it on 6 bike trips and 2 snowy trips in the Alps and all over the USA and have put thousands of shots and hours of videos through it. But I've never lost it or dropped it. How possible? When I bought it I attached a neck cord and have ALWAYS carried it around my neck (except on airplanes, where it lives in it's little leather case inside my camera bag). If it's not around your neck, you WILL drop it. If you carry it in your pocket, it WILL break. Same with any such camera. If I hand it to someone to take a shot, I put it around their neck. EVERYONE should get a neck cord for their tiny digital cameras and USE them. No worries after that. Here's a good cord on Amazon: Targus Digital TGK-NS Digital Camera Neck Strap
The paint is chipped all over now, and the lens cover doesn't open all the way until you tap it (this warpage happened recently in Vegas when I left it in my car for a day, and the car temperature probably reached well over 150 degrees - it was 110 outside - try not to do this!). But the camera still works!
The only negative I've ever had with this camera is that you cannot zoom during video mode. You must set the zoom where you want it BEFORE you start the video.
I'm sorry that some folks have had quality control issues with this model. But if you get a good one and wear it around your neck at all times, you are gonna love it. I am very surprised (happily) that this older model is still available, but from what I read about the newer models, it is in many ways preferable, as Casio seems to be cheapening its products to stay competitive.
PS...I carry my cellphone on a neck cord too, and it's over 7 years old (Sanyo on Sprint) and still works like new . . . never lost, never dropped, never broken. Neck cords are the way to go.

Casio EXILIM EX-S5 Digital Camera Features The 10-megapixel Casio Exilim EX-S5 offers a new body design, customizable focusing frames and wide-screen video recording, which makes high-quality photographic functionality simpler to use than ever before. A new, high-speed image processing engine even allows moving subjects to be cut and pasted onto still backgrounds or other images. Casio Exilim EX-S5 Highlights Newly-developed Exilim Engine 4.0 Representing a significant upgrade from the Exilim Engine 3.0, the Exilim Engine 4.0 is a powerful electronic package comprised of an ordinary CPU and a high-speed dedicated image processing CPU. It delivers outstanding color reproduction and a rich tonal range that guarantees superior visual expression. Noise reduction at high-sensitivity levels also helps to produce high-quality, beautiful images. Even better, despite the new image combination functionality and other functions that entail complex processing, energy consumption is about 30 percent lower than before, which means longer battery life. The new engine successfully combines the pursuit of radical new functionality with improvements to many conventional camera features. Dynamic Photo function Thanks to the high-speed image processing capability of the new engine, a moving subject can be cut out of a number of images that have been shot and combined with a different still shot that forms the background. A unique digital camera image where only the main subject in the photo is moving can be created using just the camera, with no editing on a computer. Tracking AF Using the image analysis technology in the new engine, the ability of the auto focus function to automatically follow a moving subject has been refined. In addition to improvements to the accuracy of auto focus tracking, when a subject leaves the frame the camera makes a record of it, and when the same subject once again enters the frame it is recognized by

Camera was okay while it lasted, customer service is not
I bought this camera in December 2009, along with a hard case to protect it, to be the one that I carted around in my purse. It worked well until about three weeks ago when I tried to turn it on and the lens jammed, at this point the camera was four months old. I called Casio customer service, since it says in the box to call them, not to return it to the store I bought it from. Once they heard the problem, they stated that it sounded like the gears had slipped and that I would have to wait until Monday to call their service department. I called and was informed that I needed to ship the camera along with a letter describing the problem via Fed Ex or UPS to their service department in California. So, $15 and a week later I get a postcard in the mail saying that unless I can produce the receipt to prove that the camera was purchased within the last year (what was the point of registering online then???) that it would cost $78 to repair the camera or $15 for the camera to be returned to me unrepaired. So, be warned that the camera has a limited lifespan and the camera will end up costing you more than you expect. Up until this camera, I have only owned Canon, and will now return to that.

camera was working great until the shutter stopped opening on it. It is under warranty for one year as long as they don't say it looks like we damaged it. WEll, we will see how that goes. No scratches or damage on it that we can tell. One minute it was working next minute shutter doesn't open and camera says Lens Error on it.
Make sure you save your receipt and box info for one year.
I have to pay shipping. read the other reviewers, someone else had same problem.
otherwise,t he camera takes nice pics and we are happy with the how easy the camera is to use.
The battery life is pretty good, but I would prefer a camera that takes double AA's this has a lithium battery that you take out and put on a charger that comes with the camera. Can't do anything with the camera until you charge the battery or have a secound battery for it.

I only got this camera because I was going to Europe and needed a camera. I wanted a canon but couldn't find any in store with a rechargeable battery. I dislike this camera more and more every time I use it. The picture quality is awful. Almost everything comes out blurry not matter what mode you're in. It often freezes if you take a picture too fast or switch from picture taking to reviewing quickly. The video option is not fantastic and I find that I hardly use it. I hate that Casio does not have its own program for uploading pictures and then editing them etc... I don't use this camera much and its usually just sitting on my desk but it still has managed to start to fall apart. The lens gets stuck and a lot of time when i try to take a picture the screen goes black so I have to turn the power off and then on again. Seeing as I hardly ever use the camera, it does not make sense that it is falling apart. Don't get this camera it is a waste of money. You can get a canon one for around the same price that is so much better.

Poor photo quality outweighs all positive features
The title says it all. The photos are terrible under all lighting situations. You must have a hand as still as one on a statue in order not to take blurry photos.
The craftsmanship/shell is what you'd expect for 100 bucks USD.
If you are more into shooting videos, this camera might do the trick because the quality is outstanding, but if you want stills, I urge you to pay 50 more bucks and get a higher quality point and shoot camera.

Question : how do i make my pictures look better with a casio exilim digital camera?
I just go this new digital camera from casio. but when i take pictures they backround light seems to be a little darker and the persons face looks red or like there is to much light.
Answer:
There is more to photography than "point" and "shoot".The more you learn about it (via books and tutorials), the more you are able to figure out why something doesn't look right and what to do about it.Start with your manual - read it, then practice. Read it again, practice some more. Experiment and pay attention to what worked and what didn't.Your little camera has big limitations, but can still take decent photos as long as the light is good. It is up to YOU to get the most out of it.

Question : Does anyone know where I can find a new usb cable for my Casio Exilim EXZ75 digital camera?
I recently lost the usb cable for my Casio Exilim EXZ75 digital camera. Someone told me to get a card reader. Does a card reader work the same way? Which is better an usb cable or card reader?
Answer:
The USB cable applicable to your camera is proprietary. You can search the internet to find it, but contacting Casio is the easiest. Expect to pay $40+ for a new cable.Even better, just grab a card reader. It does almost everything. In terms of transferring photos, it works better (they're faster). If you want the advanced software upgrade features, or want to download images from the internal memory then you will need the cable. Note that software updates are not recommended to be taken on my novices and internal memory images can be copied to a memory card in the camera.Where to find a card reader? Well your computer might already have it. HP/Compaq has had them for a while on many models. If your computer has it, it will be on the front of your computer and one will be markes SD.If your computer doesn't have it, buy one. They start at around $15 at local stores and can be as low as $2 on http://dealextreme.com (expect to wait 4-6weeks for shipping and questionable quality). You want an SD card reader, but a multi-reader can't hurt. It'll plug into any USB port.

Question : I have a Casio digital camera and I don't know how to save videos onto my computer from the library. Help?
Basically I click upload and then it sends me straight to the library. When i try to save videos they don't do anything when I click in the file I saved them to. My friend has a Casio and says something else pops up that you can save things from, but nothing else pops up with my library. What should I do? The Casio camera help section doesn't contain anything about videos.
Answer:
The easiest way is to buy a multi CARD READER. Then connect the card reader to your USB port, wait until the driver is automatically installed, then get your memory stick from your Casio camera and insert it to the appropriate place in the card reader. When it is done, you can browse from Explorer and copy paste your files. Good Luck

Answer:
I would recommend Canon PowerShot SD990IS (a good 14.2 mpx camera, just 350$, read the review: http://shortcamerareviews.com/canon-powershot-sd990is-digital-camera-review/).Or if you're looking for something cheaper, check the A1000IS, just 150$ (read the review: http://shortcamerareviews.com/canon-powershot-a1000is-digital-camera-review/)
