The high resolution, 10.1 megapixel EXILIM Zoom EX-Z200 featurea an EXILIM series first - a 4x optical zoom lens that can shoot as wide as 28 mm (equivalent). Also, in addition to the usual recognition technologies, the intelligence of this camera has been enhanced. It incorporates automatic scene differentiation and allows the shutter to be released automatically. This camera also includes CCD shift anti shake function.

Loved it, til it broke...
I loved my camera. I loved the different modes and all of the options. It took fantastic pictures even in low lighting. One feature I really liked was how you could zoom while making a movie, not many cameras do this. I, too, spent a lot of time researching before I purchased this camera. I had it for just over a year before I had the same lens problem. In addition, there is this tiny little gray piece of plastic that holds the battery in. Every time I changed the battery, it would fall out (smaller than a baby fingernail) and I'd be crawling on the floor to find it. When I lost it and contacted casio to send me a new piece I was told I'd have to send in my camera and have the whole battery compartment replaced. What? This piece was removable since the day I purchased it, but instead of mailing me a cheap piece of plastic, I have to pay a ridiculous amount of money? Well, bottom line, the camera takes great pictures and movies and is easy to use, but is not reliable.

LOVE IT!
I was replacing my sony cybershot and needed a camera that didn't take "fuzzy" pics. This is the ONE...close ups, great zoom, multi-shots of a series...it is phenomenal. And So cute!! You won't be disappointed!

Good camera while it worked
I purchased this camera four months ago and loved it until all of a sudden it quit - lens error. Casio charges more than the camera is worth to fix it.

I like it
This camera has longer battery life compared to other point and shoot camera. I don't need to charge the battery everytime I want to go out. I use flash several times, yet the battery is still full.Image quality is good enough. It is a point-and-shoot camera after all. Overall, I'm pretty satisfied with Casio and it is my first time using it. I've had this camera for 6 months now.

Buyer Beware
Research led me to the Casio Z200. I was very impressed with the written capabilites. Image quality is not on par with the Sony 7.1 mp I replaced. Not as focussed and the 28M or wide angle setting overly distorted pictures of buildings etc. However, as I became accustomed to the settings, the lens stopped working - it would not extend and closed only half way. Being only 10 days old, I was frustrated to have to send it back to the manufacturer at my cost while fall colors were happening. However, to have Casio come bakc and say that I must have dropped it and that I would have to pay almost the replacement price to have it repaired is unacceptable and leads me to believe that there is a serious engineering quality problem or flaw. I have had it returned to me (once again at my expense) and I will gladly send photos of the casio to anyone interesed to check for themselves that it doesn't have a nick or a scratch and was never dropped. Buyer Beware - avoid the Casio Z200

Love it
I loved this camera so much. It was my first camera and I really loved it. I was kind of hesitant being Casio but when I got it, I couldn;t believe that it was soooo good. My mom got a Canon at the same time, and they were equal in everything, and hers cost 50$ more.
I was really sad when it was stolen from my hotel room.
I would definitely recommend Casio cameras, very easy to use, great photo quality in every situation, light camera, the controls are really good, and also very fast indeed.

I love this camera. I've had it 2-3 years now. I've dropped it on multiple occasions, all accidental of course, and it still works great. Great pictures, great features. Ease of use depends on your own savvy. Uses regular SD card. Did I mention I love it? Cuz I love it.

Lasted 2 years with less than normal use!
I bought this in Feb of 2008. I'm a very casual picture take and have probably taken less than 1,000 pictures total during the life of the camera. I am very careful with this camera (as with all electronics) and it is majorly babied. It has never been dropped, exposed to water, nothing. I have an excellent case with full padding for it.
It takes great pictures outside. Inside is a different matter--they often turn out blurry and fuzzy no matter what you do. They tend to over or under exposure which is super frustrating. The setting for auto flash is awful--over exposure all the time. As for the features I am not that familiar as I use this mostly to take pics of the kids and pets. I don't change settings. I do like the Best Shot feature and otherwise the camera is easy to use. I got mine in gold and I love the color and look of the camera.
The problem: About a month ago it stopped recognizing the SD Memory card. I tried all sorts of cards--some it recognizes and I take a pic or two and then when I load to my laptop my laptop can't find the formatting. It's random. These are basic SD cards--nothing fancy. SanDisk and other decent brands (in other words not cheap crappy ones). I did buy an extended warranty and I'm hopeful they will fix it. But I'm very unhappy with the fact that this happened. Had i over used it or abused it I'd probably just chalk it up to that and move on. But to baby a product so much--I expect to get more than 2 years out of a camera. The camera this replaced was an old Kodak that was over 10 years old and still worked fine (but it was not digital). Lame. Severely lame.
You know I decided I could live with the blurry pic's (maybe due to the time lag between when you press and when it actually takes the pic which is much longer than other cameras) inside so I mostly use it outside but now I can't even take any pic's as the internal memory holds 2 photo's. Hello. 2? So I really need that SD card.
Due to this I cannot recommend this camera.

An Awesome Camera
I am a camera klutz and I have taken the most spectacular outdoor pictures with this camera. Although it is only a 3x zoom camera I have been able to capture ants pollinating my peonies and bees pollinating other flowers in my garden. Some of the pictures are worthy of National Geographic! Indoors I have not taken such spectacular pictures and using the zoom causes quite a few blurry shots and the flash is not the best in low light. Having the camera for about two years, I still have not used every single feature, but as primarily a point and shoot camera it is outstanding. It gets five stars from me.

After the Hype Update
Purchased the unit July 2007 to update my faithful only 5 MP Rollie.Took some christmas snaps Dec 2009 worked ok tried to use it in Feb 2010 would not switch on.Sent unit to Casio who then informed me it needed a major new component at a considerable cost $117 with a three month warranty.I was very shocked,I have only used the camera for the odd weekend Etc so it has had very little use,I have used my camera in my cell phone more often,no problems, but that is a Samsung, needless to say it will not be repaired,no use throwing more money away.Casio did offer me an upgrade for loyalty again the PLASTIC Z2 at a cost higher than the internet shops UPDATE Recontacted Casio this time spoke direct to the Service Manager on how disapointed I was with the product and his offer,he reduced the repair cost down to $75 also informed me that that camera had a two year warranty, but I informed him It states in all CASIO paperwork ONE year,he still insisted it would have been repaired FREE OF CHARGE in the two year period.I have found this before with a JVC W/S CRT television, tube went.Which was three months over the 12 months Warranty period, the retailer refused to even help me,I wrote to their service department who informed me that there was a THREE Year warranty in force ( still stated one year on the invoice )2 years parts and labour, third year parts only.JVC collected and had the unit repaired by their nearest depot free of any charges and returned, sometimes it pays to complain DIRECT

My second Casio cam!
I've always been fascinated by Casio cameras. Even though a lot of them are manufactured in my country, they're not readily available in stores here. So I have to purchase them from Japan or the U.S.
I bought this as a gift to my mom. It was an upgrade from our old Z60 cam, which I loved so much. In comparison to the Z60, the build of this S880 seemed far less superior. The steel case was somehow replaced by a plastic one, which eventually broke in a few months.
Overall performance of the camera is great! I love the ease of use and my mother has no problem using it either. It has a better DOF than the Z60.
Anyway, I'm still going to buy a Casio cam next time though :) I just love Casio cams.

Don't waste money on a warantee the company won't honor
I had this camera for 8 months and loved it. Then one day it stopped working. I put it on the charger and nothing...I took it to a camera store thinking that it was the battery but a new battery that worked in other store cameras didn't work in my camera. It was under warantee so I sent it into Casio. They claim that there is some crack on the frame of the camera which voids the warantee. I didn't see anything when I sent it and now they want $90 to fix the cracked frame. I wanted them to send the camera back. They won't send it until I pay them $10 for shipping. What a rip-off. I won't buy from Casio again. I wouldn't recommend them either. I would (and have) purchased from a real camera company, not from some company trying to branch out into cameras.

Quite working in less than a year
My experience is very similar to a previous poster. I bought this particular camera because it is very slim and portable and has a nice crisp view. But in less than a year it just quit working. I thought it must be the battery and wasted $40 buying a new one, just to find that the new battery didn't help the situation. I don't believe I'll waste any more money on it. I'll just go back to my old Sony camera, which is the brand I should have bought in the first place.

EASY TO USE
This camera is easy to use and gives you great photos. This is my third Casio and I love it. When I'm taking pictures of my grandchildren, I put it on 'continuous' and then keep 'snapping' -- there's always a some good ones in there. And it's easy to shoot videos --- simply press the red button and that's all there is to it.

I love the camera, is so tiny that I can take it everywhere. But when I bought it the battery was damage, so I called the seller and they never send me other. I have to buy a new one again in other store.

Beware!! Good camera but terrible place to buy from..
I purchased this Casio camera a few months ago, and I would give it a B. The actual camera takes pretty good pictures, but the only drawback is that at night or when it is dark you can't see the LCD display at all, not knowing where to focus to take the picture. On the other hand I would give "Electronics Expo" an F. Their customer service is terrible!!! Beware before buying anything from them; think about it twice because is not worth saving a few dollars and then trying to hustle [...]. When I purchased this camera, it arrived defected and I called their customer service number and I spoke to a rude jackass who told me they couldn't do anything about it and I should conctact Casio directly, and forget about even trying to return it for your money back, they only do exchanges, no refunds no matter what. FYI, buy directly from Amazon.com and prevent future headaches if a problem happens, they are very customer service focused unlike the Electronics Expo [...].

Less expensive point and shoot
After dropping our Casio camera 2 days before leaving for France, we needed a new camera quickly. We didn't have enough time to do adequate research. This new Casio Exilim took fine pictures but did not have the zoom capability of the previous Casio. It did not always take picture quite in focus. When I remembered to push the shutter button down 1/2 way to focus, the focus worked fine. Well, it was only $120 so not the end of the world. We may replace it soon for a better camera.

Pretty Good for the Price
I have been looking for a Point & Shoot camear for about 2 years now. I want something to go along with me when I cannot take my Nikon D80 DSLR. I finally found what I have been looking for, I am not going to do a technical review, they are all over the internet. I am just going to give my likes and dislikes of this camera. First, the size is just what I wanted, small enough to fit in my pocket, but big enough to hold steady. This is about the size i have been looking for, it measures 3 1/2" wide and 2 1/4" high, and is very light, but not flimsy feeling. This camera does everything I want in a P&S camera, 10MP sensor, takes pretty good pictures, not DSLR quality, but good enough for a quality 8X10 photograph. It also records movies which was a must for me, I use it to record my motorcycle trips. This camera fits the bill perfectly. Start up is not bad, just fire it up and it seems as though it is instantly ready to go, it locks focus great in daylight, and in well lit indoors. It does struggle a bit in low light, but what P&S does not? Having said that, I have yet to miss a shot anywhere, so it has performed well. I had one problem with the camera, but I believe it was the SD card I was using. When I switched from the SanDisk card to the PNY card, I found that 2-3 out of 50 or so shots were missing, meaning I woukd get a message that read "file can not be found". I have not run into that since putting the SanDisk back in. I also noticed that with the PNY card that I had some problems aquiring focus, even in bright sunlight. Again thet went away with the SanDisk, my recommendation, stay away from the bargain cards, pay the extra $1-$2 and get a quality card. The movie recording feature is great and I have recorded up to 5 minutes of video with no problems. I believe that you can record up to 4GB of video at a time, which should give you over 10 minutes. Really that is long enough for a single file, if your card is big enough, you can continue to record as many 4GB files as you have room for. I have uploaded to YouTube, and the transition is seamless, just remember to record in the YouTube mode and no problem. I recently took this camera on a trip on my bike up the Golden Chain Hwy in California, and I was able to capture the entire trip in both still pics and video with just 2 4GB cards, and that was three days worth of video and pictures. The battery lasted all 3 days and I was making a point to shoot as much as possible, but I would recommend an extra battery for extended trips, because I was at the end of battery life after those 3 days. I got a couple hundred pics and several minutes of video, so I would have to say the battery life is very good. I was very satisfied with the quality of the pics, they were very good and close to excellent. The video quality is also very good, and for me it will replace an older Sony camcorder, but if yo are mainly a video shooter, I would not recommend this as a primary video camera, the quality is so much better on a dedicated camcorder. But for the occasional video shooter who does not have or want to buy a video camera, this is a very good option. Overall I have to highly recommend this camera, if you don't have DSLR expectations you will be very satisfied, this little camera is a very hearty and versatile camera, it is very good at what it does. For a second camera or as a primary camera, this will fit the bill very well. I have been a photographer for over 25 years, starting with a MF Nikon FG, and am very picky about my equipment, I never buy junk photo equipment, and would never recommend something that I do not use myself. I love this camera and actually like it well enough that I ordered a second Casio, the EX FC-100 which has even more video capabilities, so yeah, I like it. I picked up the EX-Z29 at Radio Shack for $119 which included a carry case extra strap, and a 4GB SanDisk SD card. A very good deal.

Pleasantly Surprised
It was time for another point-and-shoot camera and after much researching I decided to go with the Casio Exilim EX-Z29. The picture quality is excellent, vivid, and bright for an entry-level model. My existing Samsung S730 doesn't compare. I took three identical pictures - comparing the two - and the Casio was more life-like. This little wonder has enumerating Best Shots and the settings I've used so far appear to be just right (I haven't tried any night shots yet - so the jury is still out). The interface is simple and intuitive. The 2.7" wide screen is easy to see in bright sunlight and the battery last a good long time. Turning on the camera is rather quick - again, my Samsung took twice as long. I use the HD setting (3648 x 2048) for most of my picture taking and have been, so far, very satisfied. Although the video is not HD, the Wide Shot (848 x 480 WVGA) is not bad - I"ve posted a couple of video samples on YouTube (do a search on the Casio Exilim EX-Z29). Playing it full screen via YouTube is nice - not as archaic as 640 x 480.
I have two minor gripes. First, the power button is too tiny and a bit recessed. Having to rely on a fingernail is annoying. Secondly, the YouTube capture mode is the Standard Definition. I wished Casio had used the Wide Shot setting instead.
Nevertheless, the Casio Exilim EX-Z29 is a winner. Great price and value, excellent pictures, above average video, easy-to-use interface, and solidly built. For an entry-level point-and-shoot, I highly recommend it.

Very Disappointed
I never thought I'd write a review like this. I had this camera 1 week. The first time I used it I was very happy with the pictures that I took. I went to take pictures a few days later and it wouldn't work. It kept saying "Lens ERROR" and shut down. So I guess I will need to go through getting it returned.

decent quality, major shutter delay
I got this Exilim to replace an older Exilim that I had that stopped working. I didn't do thorough research on this camera. I simply assumed that it had a higher megapixel count, so it was probably a step up from what I had. Boy was I wrong. This camera has no digital zoom and has a much longer shutter delay. So long in fact, that it's practically impossible to get an action shot. No wonder it was "cheap". If you're at all interested in getting action shots, don't get this camera. If you just want to take pictures of flowers and things that don't move, then you might be OK.

Not so happy
I have bought 4 exilims and this is my latest buy. My last purchase, a Z250, is excellent - especially the video button and the quicktime file format. This one, has the video button, but the output video is avi format - 1 minute video takes almost 100 MB. So it is impossible to record a long video using a 2 GB card.
Also, it does not recognize my 4GB SDHC card - which is another inconvenience.
As for taking pictures, it is like my other Exilims - good quality given its small size.
Buy Z250, not this one.

bad camera just hate it
I don't think I have taken a good scenic photo with this camera. It stinks. NOTHING is in good focus or sharp because it forces the camera to use a big f-stop rather than f-stop it down so that the whole photo is in focus. TERRIBLE> It will take a photo at f-2.8 and 1/800th of a second rather than at f-5.6 or 11 and maybe at 1/250th of a second. So makes everything pretty fuzzy and not sharp at all. Also I think because it has a wide angle 28mm lens it needs more light in general to get a photo. I don't think I would buy a 28 mm lens again. I came to this camera from a Panasonic with a vivid color setting and there is no comparison. I sent this camera on hi density which also helped. I am going to dump this camera as soon as I get back to the US> I did figure out how to force the camera to remember the ISO which helps but still the photos are just not sharp. Don't like it & would never recommend it to anyone who knows photos.

Hooked on Casio
I am an amateur photographer, and I've been using Casio cameras for years now. This is my 3rd Casio Exilim, and I love them so much that I hardly consider getting another brand, or even model. It has everything that you need (for basic to average user), it's easy to use and to take along. The only feature that I liked better with my previous Casio Exilim was that I could charge the battery by placing the camera into a dock, instead of completely removing the battery. But this is minor inconvenience.

Question : how do i make my pictures look better with a casio exilim digital camera?
I just go this new digital camera from casio. but when i take pictures they backround light seems to be a little darker and the persons face looks red or like there is to much light.
Answer:
There is more to photography than "point" and "shoot".The more you learn about it (via books and tutorials), the more you are able to figure out why something doesn't look right and what to do about it.Start with your manual - read it, then practice. Read it again, practice some more. Experiment and pay attention to what worked and what didn't.Your little camera has big limitations, but can still take decent photos as long as the light is good. It is up to YOU to get the most out of it.

My casio exilim digital camera is making really weird noices. It seems like the shutter keeps getting stuck. I have tried to charge the battery, but thats not it. Do you think plugging it in to a computer and try loading picture on would work? I have no pictures on it because i cant take any. Question : I have a trouble shooting question on the Casio Exilim Digital Camera about focus?
I've got a problem on Casio Exilim Digital Camera. My camera suddenly can not use any focus system. It looks everything a bit out of focus and even it's out of focus when I use the Manual focus too. I guess the main problem is focus system or might be the setting. Is there any way I can solve that problem? Thanks
Answer:
you most likely dropped it. if you did and the lens doesnt move, not even retract when u turn it off, then its broken..buy a new one
