Editorial Review :

Taking advantage of the high-speed image processing abilities of Casio’s state-of-the-art Exilim Engine 4.0, which is built into the Exilim EX-S12, the new Dynamic Photo function allows the photographer to cut out the main subject of interest in an image that has just been captured and then combine it with another image to form the background. You can also cut and paste several rapid-succession images to create a moving subject on a still background. This function makes it easy to create composite scenes from an image juxtaposition that exists only in virtual reality, or they can create a composite image that conveys a certain message. Casio technologies like these are creating whole new avenues of enjoyment that go far beyond mere picture-taking, delivering greater creative and viewing pleasure.

The EX-S12 has a stylish body measuring just 3.7 inches wide, 2.1 inches high and .6 inches thin (.5 inches at the thinnest part). It boasts a 3x optical zoom and a super clear, 2.7-inch widescreen LCD monitor and has an effective 12.1-megapixel resolution. It is finished in a design with both the high-class feel and beauty of stainless steel.

Casio Exilim EX-S12 Highlights

Newly-developed Exilim Engine 4.0
Representing a significant upgrade from the Exilim Engine 3.0, the Exilim Engine 4.0 is a powerful electronic package comprised of an ordinary CPU and a high-speed dedicated image processing CPU. It delivers outstanding color reproduction and a rich tonal range that guarantees superior visual expression. Noise reduction at high-sensitivity levels also helps to produce high-quality, beautiful images. Even better, despite the new image combination functionality and other functions that entail complex processing, energy consumption is about 30 percent lower than before, which means longer battery life. The new engine successfully combines the pursuit of radical new functionality with improvements to many conventional camera features.

Just What I Ordered, Just What I Expected,

This is our third Exilim camera and. like the other two it's the perfect camera for what we want. It's easy to use, has all the features we need, has good picture quality, and it is relatively lightweight but sturdy.

We can comfortably carry the camera anywhere, and it's rugged enough to take some bouncing around. Uploading photos to our hard drive is simple.

The order shipped the day after we placed the order, and it arrived two days later, well packaged and in perfect condition.

Some friends who are more serious about photography than are we have tried our Exilims, and while they offer quibbles about features they would need that ours do not have, they acknowledge that the camera is just about right for our purposes, and they marvel at the price.

We're very satisfied

Fantastic Digital Camera

I bought this 14 megapixel point and shoot digital camera about a month ago and have been playing with it since then. It is the fifth Casio I have owned (upgraded with each new generation) and have always been thrilled with the results. This camera is no different. Full of nice features it's easy to use and the images are stunning. I would highly recommend this camera.

For The price it is hard to beat

I researched Digital Cameras online for 2 weeks. If you want a camera that shoots fast (up to 40 frames a second), great zoom, great build quality, great picture quality and a decent price....Look no further. 1st I am amazed at the 40 frames per second out door shooting which is great for kids sporting events or even help with a golf swing. It will even shoot up to 15 frames a second I believe indoors when having a flash on. Tons of specialty shooting selections to choose from. It takes great video in 640 and crystal clear 720 HD video. I would recomend a 16 gig card to take care of all your HD video needs. I found myself starting to use the 640 setting more because the quality is good and uses less space. So far I have had it for 3 months and not a complaint about this camera. For $300 on Amazon it is tough to beat.

High Speed Insight

I bought this camera for the high speed function. The high speed works fine, but as the fps increases, the picture size elongates horizontally and shrinks vertically. How many high speed things do I want to view from chest-height to knee-height?? Not very practical. Now I have to return it for a camera with high speed that will actually capture within a normal viewing parameter. Check the aspect ratio of the high speed prior to purchasing to be sure this is what you want... definitely not what I was looking for.

Excellent for the price!

This camera is absolutely unbeatable for the price!
Photography:
For photos, this camera is an excellent choice. I primarily use it to take HDR photos, and they all have turned out fantastically! The image quality is great. It's also very cool that you can take 40 pictures in a matter of a second.
Video:
For videos, this is a decent camera. While it doesn't offer 1080p, it still offers 720p, which will suit most of your needs (unless you're planning on using it for highly paid professions.) At 720p HD with unlimited recording, everything looks crystal clear. The only downside to this camera is that it doesn't have a mic jack, so you're stuck with the built in mic (don't get me wrong though, the built in one is of good quality!)
High Speed:
The high speed video quality is not the best, but as long as you stay at 210fps, you'll be fine. Anything above, and the video quality is almost unbearable. Even at only the 210fps option, everything is super-slow and looks neat. (Oh, and it's unlimited recording.)
General - The Verdict:
Only one big complaint - the battery life is poor. But anyways...
In general, this camera has a very nice price to performance ratio. Although it may not be the best for a professional photographer, it still will suit most people's needs perfectly.

Overall, a great point and shoot camera

Ok, so I begin by saying I know almost nothing about photography. I am a neophyte who started taking pictures in December 2009 (when I bought this camera). But I tell you, between the Casio Exilim EX-FH20 9.1 MP Digital Camera with 20x Optical Zoom and 3-Inch LCD (Black) and Adobe Photoshop Elements 8, there doesn't seem to be anything I cannot do, and have a lot of fun doing it.

The 40 FPS bursts let me capture things I could never get one frame at a time. I've only used the video a little, so I cannot speak to it, other than what I used it for worked. The Best Shot functionality means I can take really good pictures on the proper settings and not have any idea what those settings are or mean. Additionally, I have pretty much complete control over all of the settings if I go into manual mode. I can also shoot in RAW if I want.

I agree that there can be a lot of noise in the higher ISO ranges, but PSE8 can remove that. My experience with the battery life is that it's pretty darn good. I bought some rechargeable AA batteries, and always have some fresh ones in my case.

You can see a lot of the images I've taken with this camera at [spmoran dot photoshop dot com]. Note that they were all run through PSE8, but for a fellow that's been taking pictures for all of six weeks, they are a testament to this camera. Enjoy!

Casio High-Speed Exilim EX-FC100 9 MP Digital Camera

The high speed movies of 1000 frames per second are very useful. I first heard of the Casio high speed cameras while visiting a research institute in Kharkov, Ukraine last winter. They were using the EX-F1A to photograph plasma discharges in air.

Great for slow motion video

This camera is great for taking decent quality slow-motion movies. I've used it to help me improve my golf swing. The 210 frame per second video mode is perfect for this. You will instantly be popular at the driving range if you bring this camera. My daughter is sprinter on her high school track team and I was able to use this camera to help her improve her sprinting technique. Coaches had told her what she needed to do to run faster, but there's something about me showing her technique compared to faster runners using this camera that made her motivated to make the changes necessary to run faster. The camera is small enough and light enough to take with you in a pocket or a golf bag. The quality of photos and HD videos is pretty good - so it's usable for more than just slow-motion. I wish the camera had a higher resolution slow motion mode something like 640x480 at 100+ fps, because I would use it to make higher quality slow motion video to include on DVDs. The resolution at 210 fps looks good on the camera screen or a smaller window, but doesn't look so good on a full TV screen or computer screen. You can easily edit videos on the camera which is handy to trim the beginning and end pieces of videos you shoot at high frame rates which tend to have lengthy chunks you want to remove. Nothing like it in the market at this price point, so 5 star ratings - even though it's not perfect at all aspects of picture/movie making. Though now I want a higher resolution device that takes slow-mo movies because it looks so cool!

Awesome little camera

I did some research on this camera before I bought it and liked what I read. After I bought it and used it, I was even more impressed. I enjoy taking digital pictures and especially enjoy taking action shots and videos, and this little camera delivers! I barefoot waterski and race motocross and have gotten some unbelievable pictures and videos with this camera. The 30fps is what does it for me as far as the single shots go, and the 1000fps is what does it as far as video goes. The slow motion on the video is extremely impressive and leaves you going...wow! All my pictures have been crystal clear and I love everything about this pocket sized camera. The battery life is excellent but I enjoy taking pictures and video so much I think I'll buy at least one more battery. I also bought two 16gb memory cards which I enjoy filling to capacity and may end up buying more of those too. For such a small camera, the 5X optical zoom is awesome too! There are so many different types of settings available to get the perfect picture, if you somehow manage to screw up a picture it would have to be the users fault, not the camera's. I can't say one negative thing about my little camera...two thumbs up from me!

Question : how do i make my pictures look better with a casio exilim digital camera?
I just go this new digital camera from casio. but when i take pictures they backround light seems to be a little darker and the persons face looks red or like there is to much light.

Answer:
There is more to photography than "point" and "shoot".The more you learn about it (via books and tutorials), the more you are able to figure out why something doesn't look right and what to do about it.Start with your manual - read it, then practice. Read it again, practice some more. Experiment and pay attention to what worked and what didn't.Your little camera has big limitations, but can still take decent photos as long as the light is good. It is up to YOU to get the most out of it.

Question : How to change pixel on Casio digital camera?
Not sure if I'm using the right term but I was told that if I adjust the size of the pictures taken on my digital camera to smaller I will be able to take more pictures using the same amount of memory? I have a Casio Exilim digital camera and was wondering if anyone knows how to adjust this? Thanks!

Answer:
If you go into the menu you will see something that says quality. You can change the size and quality here. It is really not a good idea though. You can always make a picture smaller but you can't make it bigger. If you get a picture that you would like to blow up you will be out of luck. Memory cards are cheap. Just buy a larger one.

Question : I have a Casio digital camera and I don't know how to save videos onto my computer from the library. Help?
Basically I click upload and then it sends me straight to the library. When i try to save videos they don't do anything when I click in the file I saved them to. My friend has a Casio and says something else pops up that you can save things from, but nothing else pops up with my library. What should I do? The Casio camera help section doesn't contain anything about videos.

The easiest way is to buy a multi CARD READER. Then connect the card reader to your USB port, wait until the driver is automatically installed, then get your memory stick from your Casio camera and insert it to the appropriate place in the card reader. When it is done, you can browse from Explorer and copy paste your files. Good Luck

Question : Does anyone know where I can find a new usb cable for my Casio Exilim EXZ75 digital camera?
I recently lost the usb cable for my Casio Exilim EXZ75 digital camera. Someone told me to get a card reader. Does a card reader work the same way? Which is better an usb cable or card reader?

Answer:
The USB cable applicable to your camera is proprietary. You can search the internet to find it, but contacting Casio is the easiest. Expect to pay $40+ for a new cable.Even better, just grab a card reader. It does almost everything. In terms of transferring photos, it works better (they're faster). If you want the advanced software upgrade features, or want to download images from the internal memory then you will need the cable. Note that software updates are not recommended to be taken on my novices and internal memory images can be copied to a memory card in the camera.Where to find a card reader? Well your computer might already have it. HP/Compaq has had them for a while on many models. If your computer has it, it will be on the front of your computer and one will be markes SD.If your computer doesn't have it, buy one. They start at around $15 at local stores and can be as low as $2 on http://dealextreme.com (expect to wait 4-6weeks for shipping and questionable quality). You want an SD card reader, but a multi-reader can't hurt. It'll plug into any USB port.
