Great Camera and great price!
This is a great product. The only issue I have is automatic smile feature does not always work but other than that it is well worth the price of the camera.

FujiFilm A220
I have this camera's big brother, the Fujifilm Finepix S1000fd, and BOTH have nearly the same features. We are going to France this year and I will be buying another one for my wife. As a point and shoot camera, this is one of the best I have owned. Start up is fast. Saving to the SD card is quick. And the flash is adequate for most indoor shots.
There are only two drawbacks: It would be great to have a 5x or 10x zoom, but in most situations, the 3x optical is fine. And, the 2.7" screen has problems with reflective sunlight - I plan on using a cellphone UV film to correct that.
It fits in your pocket and is lightweight. Overall, a great camera for the price.

MAGIC CAMERA!
Fujifilm Finepix A220 12MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom and 2.7 inch LCD
I ABSOTUTALUTELY LOVE THIS CAMERA. I bought a recharger with Ni MH batteries (Duracell) and it's a beauty! It's provides you with the freedom of knowing that you will always have battery life. So, to those of you who do not like the buying of batteries on the go, no worries, you can use re-chargeable batteries with it.
It takes absolutely BEAUTIFUL photos. I want to take one of everything I see! It's nice and it's slim and a variety of scenes to choose from when taking pictures. It even has a BABY MODE, which is suitable for babies skin and such. And I have a lil' one so that's great.
The sound quality of the videos are great.
Uploading photos to my computer was easy.
I love it so much I purchased a Case Logic Medium Case for it's maximum protection.
If any of you have any trouble, feel free to contact me.

Good luck and believe me, I'm a picky person. I spent A MONTH researching for the best camera for $100. This one is better than I expected. As you should know, the descriptions of products don't always tell you EVERYTHING. Therefore, there are always good and/or bad suprises. I am extremely pleased.

Very disappointing
I purchased this for my wife for xmas so that we could take it to the Dominican Republic for vacation. Well the scenery was fantastic but this camera destroyed that. We had it set on scene recognition thinking it would take the best photos under whatever conditions existed (night, day, landscape etc..) The pictures came out blurry, grainy or a combo of both a lot of time. Even in the "good" photos which required perfect lighting, the detail you would have expected from a 12mp cam was way worse than a 3mp cam I've owned in the past. The directions are poor at best. It's not a booklet but a foldable paper leaflet that rips easily & that lacks detail/specific info. Under the picture quality settings, they don't even explain what the settings mean, just that they exist. You are expected to know I guess and I'm not new to digital cams in the least. The cover that closes in the batteries and the SD card slips open constantly as you are handling it which is really annoying and we had to tape it just to secure it! Forget taking pictures in low lighting. The majority were absolutely terrible. Spots & graininess. My first Fuji and after it's returned, my last.

Camera was a gift
I gave the camera as a gift. I don't use it but my daughter said she likes it and the quality of pictures are fine for people who use a camera for family occasions etc. My daughter is older but breaks everything. :-) So the price was great. So far she has not broken it but I was pleased with the price and the camera itself. I would recommend it.

CAMERA, FINEPIX Z100fd, SILVER, 8 MP
Customer Review :
Under $200 STEAL!! Remarkable bargain camera
GREAT low-cost camera .. not an Amazon buy (from an egg-cellent CA company :) ) .. Bit over $100 ..free: shipping, 2GB SD card and soft case. I've owned it a bit over 6 months. I'm an experienced photographer, but never owned a digital camera before.
Perfect? No, for $450-800 get a better one ;) Others in $100 range may be competitive.. I can't say. It compares very favorably to ones my kids have owned that cost much more. This camera was released ~2 yrs ago.
Strong Points: 1. It works fine as a "point and shoot" in most normal situations.. so you don't HAVE to fiddle with a lot of techy details (BUT it has extensive "manual" capabilities and many MODES such as backlight etc)
2. Superb resolution (approximately 2x HD).. Should easily do an 8x10 photo. Some claim it is "poor" in some situations.. this is a misapplication.. usually in low light where they expect the "anti-shake" to function as a tripod.. sorry but cameras don't work like that.
3. It is EXTREMELY compact.. cigarette pack size and under 5 oz weight. It seems to be well built too.. I haven't babied it. I'm sure water and sand would do it in though
4. Also does decent video (up to 640x480 resolution), and will work perfectly well in an "average" lighted room.. good for casual filming and "youtube" etc.
5. It has 5x OPTICAL zoom (to 10x digital zoom) .. this is excellent for a unit that doesn't have a "snout type" camera lens that sticks out. Optical beats digital a lot. (Zoom appoximates a 35mm with 36-180mm)
6. The LCD seems decently sized and bright to me.. and I don't have very good eyes.. :) It cannot be "reversed" to see yourself while taking your own pic.
7. Works very well as a "copy camera" mounted on a lighted stand to copy documents or family albums, etc.. it has a very nice MACRO focus ability and a "text" exposure mode. It should be great for making shots for ebay etc too.
8. It has EXTENSIVE manual over-ride and settings options.. In order to use these well you MUST be familiar with the camera and its use (from practice and the manual.. which contrary to others I find competent and pretty thorough .. it isn't a tutorial though)
9. It comes with a cord to attach to a VCR (or computer card) and actually makes an ok video camera, though not portable in this mode.. and the viewfinder doesn't power up when you have an external device attached. This is a "makeshift" mode and I'd not suggest it for normal use unless you get the "ac adapter" for it (IMO bit expensive for a $100 camera) It WILL NOT work on USB power.
10. I had no problems transfering pics from the camera to my pc. It can be done by either using the included USB cable or by taking the SD card out and plugging it into a reader on your pc. I've done both and had no problems. It "just happened"..I didn't have to do anything to make it work
11. It makes decent "action shots" too in decent lighting (auto racing etc) with shutter speeds up to 1/1000 sec and down to 4 sec. It doesn't have a "bulb" setting that I am aware of.
12. It has many "best of" scenrios ..1 flash, 1 not: you pick best.. several shots in a row, save last 3: .. "fast shot" sequences.. etc.. I'm sure something to suit your fancy is here
13. The non-extending lens make this both higher in reliability and more sleek.. but also gives it the higher fstop restrictions.
It does have some negatives (not really "failings" .. just things that are worthy of note)
1. The lens is in the spot where your left hand normally goes and it takes awareness to keep your finger off the lens since it doesn't "stick out".. you would see this onscreen unless you're shooting "blind" like over your head.. I found it pretty easy to adjust.
2. This is NOT a "see in the dark" camera.. I say this not because it suffers in low light (it has up to 1600 ASA which is VERY respectable, but the 3.8 lens is the issue). Low light suggests tripods and timed exposures and people don't typically do that with a "point and shoot".. I have used it on a tripod and it works well. I have taken acceptable shots by candlelight if the subject is near the candle.. such as a birthday cake. It is an f3.8 lens.. expensive cameras will be f2.8-f3.2 or so. IF lower light conditions are IMPORTANT to you, I'd suggest GE-E1235 12MP Digital Camera with 3X Optical Zoom (Black) or the slightly older GE E1050TW-BK 10 MP Digital Camera with 5x Optical Zoom and 3.0-Inch Touch-Screen LCD (Black). They're almost double the price and suffer the "innie/outtie snout lens" which I don't much like, but much better for lowlight with lenses around f2.4.
3. The software suite that it comes with (for using on your pc) is only ok.. to do any real custom work you will need to buy software, which you likely have anyways if you are doing this kind of work. For color balance, cropping, making slide shows, etc its fine. Picassa is a decent free option.
4. The battery is ok, but if you're going to use it for extended video you better get a second one so you can switch out if you need to. I've never had it stop on me, but I am aware of its limits.. In still mode it shouldn't be a problem. It recharges rather quickly.. 2 hours?.. I've not timed it. Careful shopping will yield an equivalent battery or better (not with the FUJI brand on it though) for a very reasonably price.
5. You can put a TON of stuff on even a small SD card.. but the memory it comes with would probably not make most people happy for anything other than around the home where you can dump shots to your pc now and then. SD cards are CHEAP now.. buy one no matter what camera you get!
Another "observation".. neither bad nor good.. it took me a bit of study to figure out how to use the "screen menus" to see and sort and change your pics in the camera, but my daughter picked it up and immediately worked it in detail..I'm guessing its pretty standard for digital cameras.. as I said its my first.
In summary.. FOR AVERAGE TO BETTER LIGHTING conditions and MANY 'point and shoot' applications, you can't do better. Its such a feeling of FREEDOM to not have to fool with film and developers!! Excercise that freedom.. USE IT! PLAY WITH IT!! LEARN! :) It is capable, inexpensive, flexible. It isn't a $600 camera for $100 but its a keeper. Buy it.

Not the easiest to use
There are much better cameras out there for $200 - this one is not user-friendly in terms of navigating through pictures or menus. The battery doesn't last too long because you have to have the camera turned on while you upload pictures to your computer (if you don't use a cardreader and just use the USB cord), and the battery DOES NOT CHARGE while you have it hooked up to your computer. The only way to charge the battery is to take it out of the camera and put it into the AC charging unit, which is a pain to bring with you everywhere.
I got rid of this one and am opting for the Panaonic Lumix DMC-ZS3 when the price comes down a bit.

Fugifilm Z100FD
Love this camera, bought it as a replacement for Fugi Z1.
Pros: Size, fast start up, battery life, picture and video quality, 5x Optical zoom, large display, easy to use menus with many useful options, Uses SD and Xd cards, image stabilizer ... really helps with a small camera, tripod mount, PRICE.
Cons: Must remove battery and place into charger (Z1 came with a cradle that was used to transfer pics to PC and charge battery..much easier to use), Door for access to USB connector hard to open, I find it easier to remove SD card and insert into a card reader to transfer Pics. Can't seem to zoom when taking video (may be operator error).

A good camera, not quite polished enough for me
I really love the style of this camera, appearance and functionality of the menus and buttons, however, it wasn't as good at focusing on close objects as my previous Z1 of the same brand, and on low light photos are grainier than I was hoping for. I've moved on from it and have moved on to two digital cameras since this one.
I think there are better options out there today for the money.

AMAZING!!
I bought this camera about 2 years ago and it is an amazing piece of equipment!! There are so many features and options to choose from to take the perfect pictures....You can even take a picture in complete darkness with the right settings and they come out bright and detailed. The text feature on the camera is amazing...you can zoom in and take pictures of items or works close up...I love using the text feature to take pictures of insects and other small critters because the details are astonishing...This is my second fugifilm camera and my favorite brand...This camera is so good I bought the pink one for my sister :) and is it a trooper!! I have dropped it countless times and it has even gotten wet and still works fine...I would recommend this camera to anyone

Nice camera for the amateur photographer...
I got this camera for my young nephew, because I opened his mind to photography. He loves it, and has been snapping shots whenever he gets the chance. Get a 1GB SD card for it though, because the on-board memory is just not enough.

Good replacement for FlatFoto/PureDigital cameras
This camera was purchased as a replacement of my Flatfoto/PureDigital CVS&Rite-Aid camera collection. However, I will keep the comparison to a minimum. I have deleted most of the references, but a few traces remain.
Bootup It turns on quickly, ready to use in 3 seconds.
Display Display runs a lot faster, which consumes the battery faster. There are settings to switch the camera to "display on photo only" to conserve battery life.
Battery Powered by AA batteries or rechargable battery packs. It is preferred to use digital quality batteries, or even NIMH batteries, but it can use NiCd or el cheapo batteries. It won't last long with such poor quality batteries, but that's fine if you take less than 10 pictures at a time. There is a setting to drain out NIMH batteries to reduce crystallization (memory effect) which is handy if you don't have a table lamp battery discharger to do the same.
GUI GUI has a lot of functions, but is very easy to navigate to switch a setting. It's quite easy to use.
Storage Pictures are stored in JPG format. Full EXIF info is recorded, with all the details, some you won't care about. The camera uses XD digital media, which is different from the standard SD film format. I worked around this limit by purchasing a MicroSD-to-XD adapter to use with my existing MicroSD media, which I prefer. Storage is really no issue as I am never without my netbook with a cable to offload pictures between shoots. The camera has a floating megapixel processing system, from 0.3 (eBay photos) to 7.3 (keepsake photos or for retouching) Batteries must be in the camera for file management, it is not powered through the USB connection.
Video Don't expect anything good here, it takes cellphone quality videos at 15 frames a second, and at only 60 frames. You have a choice of 320x240 or 160x120 frame size. I am guessing it does not have a streaming encoder, the reason being for taking only 60 seconds of video. I'm keeping my camcorders on hand.
Software I cannot review this portion as I bought the camera used, no CD came with the unit. I will not elaborate on what software I am using instead, as each user has their preference. Therefore, I will only list them: Altap Salamander, IrfanView
Connectivity There is nothing in the camera that enables it to be used as a webcam, nor does it have Bluetooth or Wi-fi. Only data transfer and PictBridge through USB. Still, it's good.
Not a bad intermediate camera. I'll have to put it through the test at the Califur convention.

Stay away from this battery hog
I purchased the camera over a year ago and have been living (don't ask me why) with dismal battery life problems since day one. You're lucky to get 10 pictures out of the two AA's. I called service and they told me for $25 to $50 they would diagnose the problem and update the camera to fix the battery drain problem, which they know about!!! Why did I wait for the warranty to run out????? Stupid.... It's my last Fuji, I guarantee you that.
Rating :
Battery Hog and Not That Great in General
This camera is just OK for a beginners camera in terms of functionality, but for the money I would just get something better. I find it hard to get clear pictures of objects from very close proximity, and this thing uses up batteries(even high quality rechargeable ones) faster than any other device I have ever seen. I also find this camera to be worse than most with getting a steady shot and avoiding blurs. I have an upgraded memory card in mine with larger-than-stock capacity, but I find it annoying how the camera limits you to only 60 second videos despite there being enough memory to hold many minutes of footage with ease.
Now for the worst part about this camera... I can only get about 8 to 12 shots out of a set of freshly charged 2500 mAH batteries before the camera completely shuts off due to it saying that the batteries are dead. It's almost a crime for the manufacturer to put something on the market that is this ridiculous with battery annihilation.
I simply can not recommend this camera to anyone based purely on the battery problems that it has... WARNING... STAY AWAY!
Rating :
Do NOT buy this camera
My wife and I own a digital camera already, but she needed a point-and-shoot for a class she's taking. We got this camera, and after just a couple of months, it quit working. The camera comes on, and we can do everything (review pics, zoom, change menu settings) EXCEPT take a picture. When we push the shutter button, the camera turns off. After searching the web for a solution, I've discovered that many people have this problem, there is no apparent solution, and no information forthcoming from Fuji.
Don't take my word for it, check out this "find help here" site.

Zoom and Lens Cover "Stick"
A FinePix F31fd was purchased early 2007 new from Amazon to replace a first generation Canon digital point-and-shoot. Electronically, the Fuji product is great. The amazing battery life really makes having the opportunity to catch a great shot much easier than having to remember to recharge each night. The low light capabilities, resolution, etc. are stellar as mentioned by numerous reviews here.
The achilles heel of the F31, and perhaps affecting all of the similar Fuji FinePix digital cameras, is a tender mechanical lens mechanism and Fuji's inability to correct it. The lens retracts into the camera body on shut-down and a cover closes to protect the lens. The reverse happens when the camera is energized to take a photo.
Early in the history of this unit, the lens would be balky ocassionaly on open or close. After several power-up/down sequences the mechanism would work properly. After the lens opened and the cover retracted, the zoom feature would work flawlessly.
Frequency of the failure to open or shut down continued to increase until it became too much. The camera was not dependable in being able to catch a spur of the moment shot. After contacting Fuji, the camera was sent to the nearest Fuji authorized repair center which is in San Antonio, Texas. The charge to go through the center was $60 plus SH both ways. Within a few weeks after return from the authorized repair center, the same zoom and lens cover issues returned. Cleaning with compresses air does not appear to help.
This unit has been gently handled. When not in use it is returned to the camera case.
The Canon this unit replaced did not take the quality of pictures (I think it was 3 MP) nor have the battery life of the F31. However, the mechanical functions never failed to operate properly.
Sadly, the F31 is being retired.

The Low Light King!
The Fujifilm SuperCCD sensor in the F31fd (and other Fujifilm cameras) is unique. No other manufacturer has them. What is great about the SuperCCD sensor is it's ability to take great photos in low light situations WITHOUT the use of a flash. The high ISO photos the F31fd produces are a quantum leap ahead of the competition. Other cameras will produce noisy and virtually unusable photos at ISO above 800, not so with the F31fd. You won't find low light performance in other manufacturer's cameras until you start shelling out big bucks for a digital SLR. If you find yourself in situations where using the flash is not an option, the Fujifilm F31fd is your only answer.

GREAT camera for casual photographer, but poor video
By no means am I an expert at cameras or photography. I am a mom. And I love to take pictures of my family. And when I finally get that perfect shot -- when my kid finally looks at the camera and smiles perfectly when they're in the middle of swinging through the air or jumping on the bed -- I want that photo to last forever. But several cameras failed me and on pretty important occasions.
Not so, the FinePix F31fd. Most cameras perform well when there's plenty of sunshine or perfect lighting. But other (expensive) digital cameras that I was using kept coming up with really grainy photos whenever I took pictures indoors. (I had zero photos from my law school graduation as a result.) There was no excuse for that. But all the reviews about the FinePixF31fd being the king of low light -- all that is true. I consistently get clear, unblurred and NOT grainy photographs, no matter whether I take them indoors, outdoors, at noon or at dusk. I'm a casual photographer -- I don't play with the settings on my camera, nor would I know what I was doing if I did. I just put it on auto focus, point, and click! And I have months and months of wonderful photos of my little girl's toddler years which are crystal clear.
My major complaint though, is that I wanted a device which would take fantastic digital photos as well as good movie clips. When you're stocking a huge diaper bag, you don't also need to haul both a camcorder and a digital camera along. Besides, the Finepix is small enough to always carry in your purse so that you always have it on hand to catch life's unexpected moments on film. That's what I like about it. But I wish that the movie capabilities were better. You can zoom in/out and take the movie, but once the movie mode is recording, you can no longer zoom in and out. But the BIGGEST complaint I have is that the sound quality is awful -- even the loudest sounds get recorded at a muffle. Quiet sounds are left off the video altogether. (Sad for me, I was never quite able to get my baby cooing or babbling on tape.) If Fuji had worked a little bit longer on the microphone on this guy, it would be the perfect device for me!

AMAZING! Ten out of five stars! Buy it if you can find one...
AFter 2 weeks of research (Fuji Finepix, Sony Cybershots & Canon models) I chose the F31fd based on all of the excellent reviews & it's plethora of features. Was nearly impossible to find one of these brand-new but there are occasionaly a few on Ebay for under $500.
First impression of the F31fd: Much smaller than I thought. Very well put together, buttons and dials very convenient. Access to features and menus is logical and usually within 2 button clicks. The video quality is breathtaking at 30fps, similar to my camcorder. I've taken hundreds of photos using all of the features and their quality has FAR exceeded my high expectations based on the A310.
Three straight days of picture, movie, playback, and "playing" with the features, and the battery indicator is still two out of three bars. Fuji says 580 shots per charge. I believe it. One really neat feature is that you can still take a picture when you are in playback mode (which is conveniently accessed by pushing one button). The shutter is nearly instantaneous too.
I've recommended this camera to family and friends. WHY can't we find these still in stores? This is in my opinion the best under $500 camera on the market! Good luck...buy it if you find it.

I will never buy Fuji again
During the warranty period, the power button malfunctioned. We sent the camera in for repair, but Fuji insisted that we damaged it. They forced us to pay $85. A couple years later, the same issue occurred -- the power button malfunctioned again. We sent it back to Fuji, and they want another $85 to fix the SAME problem, even though we did not drop or damage the camera. This is just ridiculous. When we called them, Fuji responded that it doesn't matter how many times the same item malfunctions and they repair it, they will charge us. Forget Fuji. I'm going back to Canon.

Questions & Answers
Question : Fuji s700 digital camera and its usb cable?
I just recently purchased a fuji s700 camera and im having trouble with transfering pictures to my pc. It seems like it doesnt reconize the camera. all i get is a white screen and "usb" in the upper left hand corner on my camera...... and nothing on my pc (i would assume a window should pop up for the transfer). Question : extra zoom lenses for the Fuji finepix s700 digital camera.?
I was wondering what kind of extra zoom lenses can be purchased for the Fuji s700 digital camera. If I can buy extra lenses, where would I find them. I am from Canada. I will mostly use this camera at a race track 80% of the time it will be night.
Answer:
It has a 10X optical zoom. Fuji doesn't offer any "front lens" add-ons. There may be some "after market" ones offered but they would probably be a waste of money.

Question : zoom error on fuji digital camera, how much would it cost to fix it?
It is a fuji finepix f650. Would it be worth sending the camera to the factory to fix or buy a new one? I've only had the camera for 7 months but I did not keep the receipt and the box.
Answer:
If it's a zoom error that requires you to replace the lens on the camera, the parts and labor could run as high as the $200-250 range, but the only way to figure out exactly how much it would cost would be contact Fuji. Try calling their factory service center; they'll be able to tell you if it's something that's under warranty or if you'll have to pay for the repairs yourself, and should be able to give you a ballpark figure for the cost to you.http://www.fujifilmusa.com/JSP/fuji/epartners/ServiceSupportRepairContent.jsp?dbid=674543

Question : Digital camera advice from Fuji owners - battery charging?
My wife's just bought a Fuji finepix z70 digital camera, we're wondering when the battery is supposed to be charged, how long on average it takes? The instructions state to wait for the charge light to turn off, but this doesn't seem to be happening. The adapter lights changed from orange to green without any further indication its going to do anything. Is it ready? Has been on charge for hours.ThanksSo is the battery ready when its turned from red to green? You dont have to wait for it to turn off completely?
Answer:
These are variable. I have a Fuji S20 that takes 4 hours, using separate AA charger.I have a Pentax that takes a battery similar to your NP-45a Li-ion and it takes almost six hours. That's why I purchased 2 extra batteries and keep them charged, so I don't run out of power.I found your battery on amazon.com for about $15 each. These batteries last long so I would start with one back up.Regarding the charger lights, it has been my experience, when the light changes to green, the battery is charged.

Question : help!my fuji digital camera isn't working and i need it for a trip tomorrow the lense keeps saying focus error?
i am leaving tomorrow and it won't work.
Answer:
I'd buy a disposable or borrow something from a friend. If you don't have that luxury, you could try cleaning the lens. If you do this wrong it can damage the camera. I use the same solution and microfiber cloth that they give you to clean glasses. This may solve your problem, but if not, I'd try to get something else to use. If you do get great pictures from the trip, you may want to check out the HD wireless digital frames from Ceiva. http://snurl.com/98odw
