The Fujifilm FinePix Z5fd is the stylish and sleek digital camera. Unlike conventional AF cameras that target mainly subjects in the center, the Z5fd features Face Detection that instantly and accurately identifies faces everywhere in the scene and brings them into clear focus.Depending on the brightness of detected faces, Face Detection optimizes face exposure, or automatically activates Intelligent Flash, which adjusts sensitivity and flash output for ideal subject exposure.

photos or videos with size of ipod

After over a year of use, I feel it is more than safe to say WOW! Fantastic videos & many high quality photos. Many were taken on horseback during long distance competion in high winds, blowing snow, blowing rain, frozen & even nice weather.

Took care of the problem super fast

The zoom wouldn't work on the first camera sent it back and got one that is perfect. Very nice no hassles.

Neat camera

I have the pink one. I love the color, and I feel special because it slides to turn on. No it might not get the best pictures, but it suits my needs. If I want to be a photographer, I'll buy a slr camera. As far as I know it doesn't have sepia, which isn;t the end of the world. I wish it has better pixels also.

Grainy indoor pictures

This camera takes great outdoor pictures, but indoor pictures esp at lower light and close ups are quite grainy. I bought a Nikon Coolpix P80, a little more expensive and larger to carry, but the picture quality is much better. Still looking for a great pocket sized camera.

An amazingly strong camera!

I am very serious in everything that follows:

Over a course of four years, this camera has withstood more abuse than any camera should. I have literally run it over with my car at 40 mph on dirt... more than once. I have dropped it over a hundred times onto hard surfaces. The front faceplate looks like it has 3 bullet dents. The LCD screen has dust and hairs behind it. It is scratched so much you can't see scratches. It has been rained on, dropped in mud, and been literally thrown from a car traveling at 55 mph, sent into brush. It has been stuck with double sided tape to the back of a car doing 55 mph offroad. It was taped to the front of a motorcycle. It was held outside the window of a car doing 100 mph. It was held outside a car doing 70 mph in the rain. It was used in 0 degree flash freezes.

I never thought anything about Fuji... and now I can't imagine buying anything else. I simply cannot stress how great this camera is. It is not a shockproof camera--but it has earned the title!

Cheap, but ... cheap

I got this camera as a gift in December 2002. As one of the least expensive 3 megapixel cameras at the time (the output is 2048x1536 pixels), it sold fairly quickly. It seemed nice at first, with the large image size for the price, but I became disappointed with image quality after a while. The sensor is only capable of ISO 100 speeds, so it would insist on using the flash in most situations that didn't have the benefit of broad daylight. Even in broad daylight, the images would still be quite grainy at larger sizes, and there was a good chance of bright background colors bleeding around the edges of darker foreground objects. So, in addition to not handling dark scenes very well, it also had trouble with bright ones. Unfortunately, it's a struggle to see the preview/playback screen when outdoors. I got frustrated with it fairly quickly, though some of the deficiencies can be fixed in post-processing, and many images look just fine if you display them at 1/4 resolution (1024x768).

I liked the fairly small size, as it fits nicely into a shirt pocket. It's also easy to retrieve photos from the camera, since it simply shows up as a USB hard drive if you have it in the correct mode. Unfortunately, the battery life seemed fairly short for a camera of this size. I used it with a 128 MB xD card, and was able to put right around 100 full-size photos on it. Unfortunately, it seemed to suck batteries dry pretty quickly, so 100 photos on a single charge is about as far as I'd want to go.

The product was not as advertized, The zoom would not work. Apparently the camera was dropped hitting on the zume lense, breaking it. I am returning product to sender. The item is worthless as it is.

Very good, cheap digital camera

For its low price, this camera is worth it. It takes nice quality pictures and is durable. I've dropped it a few times and it hasn't broken yet. It is also extremely easy to use. Even my mom figured out how to use it!!!

Overall: A very good camera

Rating :

Good for its age

I bought this camera several years ago and can say that I am pleased with its performance over that time. I thought I would add my thoughts on it to the chorus.

Pros:
Reliable - It has not malfunctioned for me in the time I've had it
Uses 2AA batteries so it is easy to replace them in a pinch
The xD media has become comperable to other media in price
Easy connection to computers via USB cable
Capable of switching resolution from 3.2 MP down to .3 MP
Good for taking close-ups
Multiple flash settings

Cons:
Extremely slow in start-up and between shots
Slow shudder speed
Automatic focus makes it virtually impossible to shoot through glass
Very small LCD screen in the back
Pictures become blurrged when the batteries start run down
Flash can fail or be mistimed when the batteries are low
No sound on video

All-in-all, it is a decent camera considering its age and price. It is good for stationary subjects such as landscape, plants, and overweight cats. If you expect to need to take action shots or several shots in a row, it is not the camera for you. The shudder speed is too slow for moving targets and it can take 5-7 seconds between pictures when using the flash.

My personal opinion rates is at 4-stars, though I could not rationally give it more than 3 due to its age and the afore-mentioned drawbacks.

Rating :

Slowest. Camera. Ever

I've had this camera for a couple years and I'm just dying to buy a new one.

We went to Vegas a couple months ago and tried to take pictures of the Lions at Caesars. Here's how it works:
1) Turn on camera, wait a minute for it to be ready
2) Take a picture (with flash)
3) Wait about 50 seconds until it's ready to take the next one.

I can't believe this camera has such high ratings. Besides being horribly slow, the picture quality is hit or miss. When it's on, it's really great, but about half of the time it's "off."

Do Consider For Easy Use, Good Results.

The A205 is easy to operate and renders sharp images for web or prints. The case is bulky by todays standards, but I use a tripod mostly. I have no complaint with functionality after 6+ years of use, and I still employ it for online auctions and my business website content. I find the viewfinder and recharging/download cradle very convenient, I wish my other Fuji camera had them. A205's can be found for as little as $30 today. I have had no problems at all with it.

impressive for a 1st digital camera

I bought this camera brand new in late 2003 to become more "modern". I didn't really need a digital camera, but I wanted one. Now, more than 4 years later I have thousands of pictures on my PC that are priceless. The camera finally died 2 months ago and I've replaced it with a 10 MP Nikon Coolpix. Although this camera is now considered bulky by today's standards, and the LCD screen is now considered tiny (1.5") I can't just toss this camera away. It's served me very well the last few years, so I guess it'll just take up drawer space. It's taken excellent pictures, but it took a little getting used to. To focus on anything, you have to press the button down "half-way". Try saying that to someone who's not used to digital cameras. Most of the blurry pictures occured because of that. Want to take pictures of your kids playing sports? Faggedaboutit! Action shots come out blurry. Not enough light? You'll get grainy pics. Like to take videos? Hope you do it in bright sunlight and don't need sound. All-in-all this camera has gained my respect and takes great pictures under ideal conditions. A perfect starter camera.

Battery Eater - Poor indoor pics

I bought my camera several years ago at Wal-Mart and I have to say I have never really liked it. It eats batteries like crazy, even the rechargable ones. The only battery I have found to not go dead within two to three photos is Duracel. Also, the quality of photos is not that great, especially indoors. I took this camera with me to Amarillo, Texas and I finally gave up trying to take photos with it and bought a throw-away camera which worked fine. I am currently shopping for a new digital camera and have given this one away as it wasn't worth selling.

Rating :

Not bad...

For an older 2.0 MP point & shoot camera, it's not that bad. It's not as easy to work & figure out as a Kodak Easyshare, but still, it's not that bad. The colors aren't as vibrant as Kodak's, but again, it's not that bad. The color LCD screen is a little faded & orangy, but when the photo is taken, the photo on the screen is brighter & more true-to-color. The video is rather grainy, so I wouldn't rely on the camera for video purposes. I didn't try the software....I was able to plug the camera into my computer & upload pics straight to my computer without the software. That was neat. There is a loooong lag time between shots. It runs on alkaline batteries pretty well. The macro setting works well, and the zoom is good. Overall, this camera is dated & not very fancy, but it serves its purpose fairly well. If you want the latest & greatest, this camera is not for you. But, if you want to just take everyday pictures & don't care about too much fancy stuff, then this camera should be fine.

Rating :

great value for the money

This camera takes pretty decent pictures for it's resolution and pricepoint. The included software is also good. Definitely get a larger memory card & the rechargable batteries, though; it sucks up lots of memory for higher-quality pictures and the batteries don't last as long because of that.

I love the super-zoom feature on it, that you can override the 3x zoom by continuing to press on the zoom.

Great Camera

I have owned this device for 2 years and I think it takes wonderful photos. It is easy to use and I have never had a problem. I am looking at these reviews today because I recently lost mine and I am considering buying the exact model I lost. There are lots of new features offered by Fuji, but I know this is a great little camera. By the way, I also own a professional Nikon. I know what great photos look like.

My Old Camera

I Have Had This Camera For Over 2 Years Now, When I First Got It, It Was The Best Thing Out...Now..., Im Starting A Photography Page, And It Seems Like This Camera Lacks The "HD" Look When It Comes To Pictures. It Held Up Well Over The Years, But Its Time For A New Camera. The Video Quality Sucks!, So Dont Base Your Buy On That. It Takes Ok Pictures, I Mean It Got Me Started On My Photography...I Would Recommend This For The Average Teenager, Or A Busy Mom Who Doesn't Want To Miss Those Special Moments.

Great Movies Poor photos

I used this for more than a year and finally got rid of it. The photo quality was very disappointing and was finally forced to carry my old Canon digital elph for pics. The movie quality was very good and I loved the MP4 (lots of video very small files) format but just could not stand the pictures.

The ergonomics were not the best. Worst feature was a very small separate movie button very hard to turn on and off. It was nice having a separate button for pics and movies but still. . . . . .

Another bad feature was it is very easy to put the left fingers over the lens. This is the result of a good feature in that the lens never protrudes from the camera but then you have no reference point and the fingers get over the lens very easily especially if you rest fingers on top of camera.

Just finally had to sell it - believe me you can do a lot better than this camera. I replaced it with a Nikon coolpix L20 on closeout at Sams for $59 - Great photos excellent video - although AVI format but at least I carry one camera again.

Bought this camera at the recommendation of the service rep at Walmart for an inexpensive easy to use camera for my wife.

Only good for still shots,
slow to start
slower to reset 2nd picture
missed a shot its so slow
sometime never reset (Battery eater)thus no pictures at all
Quality of picture is OK, but that only happens when you can actually take one.
Horrible frustrating camera that both my wife and I hate to use - getting a new camera, just not a fuji

Today This Camera Meets My Hammer

I put fresh rechargable batteries into this camera Christmas Eve, then didn't use it. The next day, the red battery light was on when I tried the first photo. Of course, waiting for the camera to green light you for a photo takes at least 7 seconds -- no joke -- which burns battery and wastes many an opportunity. Even at lower resolutions, reload is a huge problem -- downloading the photos to disk to empty the card is no help. I took one photo at Christmas because I didn't bring spare batteries. If you didn't know better, you would think this camera was made at the dawn of digital technology, and you were the caveman that got suckered into buying it.

I rarely get a good photo out of this camera, and I used to enjoy a rep as the reliable family photographer -- no more. The zoom is useless as it moves by gigantic distances and can't be backed up in any smaller increment. It makes a noise like its moving, but I think it has two settings; close and closer -- nothing in between.

There is simply nothing about this camera worth your time. Its so painful to use, you never do and might as well not own a camera. Its also pretty massive and makes you look like a tourist ready to get robbed wherever you take it.

Fuji FinePix A210

For today it is a very old camera and only good as a gift for kids. I have it for 4 years and it is still working. The only problem we have is some kind of abrasion on the lense which gives a glare on the images so we are not using it any more. It has a macro option and video capability without sound. Picture quality is good for outdoors. The flash is not powerful so not recommended for indoors. I was amazed to see that they still have some on sale.

Totally pleased with purchase

Camera was exactly as described. It arrived quickly and was very well packaged. Seller was concerned over the absence of a user guide and emailed me to check if I still wanted the purchase. I advised that it was not an issue because I was replacing the exact item and already had a user manual. I felt that extra touch showed a touch of class.

Questions & Answers
Question : extra zoom lenses for the Fuji finepix s700 digital camera.?
I was wondering what kind of extra zoom lenses can be purchased for the Fuji s700 digital camera. If I can buy extra lenses, where would I find them. I am from Canada. I will mostly use this camera at a race track 80% of the time it will be night.

Answer:
It has a 10X optical zoom. Fuji doesn't offer any "front lens" add-ons. There may be some "after market" ones offered but they would probably be a waste of money.

Question : Digital camera advice from Fuji owners - battery charging?
My wife's just bought a Fuji finepix z70 digital camera, we're wondering when the battery is supposed to be charged, how long on average it takes? The instructions state to wait for the charge light to turn off, but this doesn't seem to be happening. The adapter lights changed from orange to green without any further indication its going to do anything. Is it ready? Has been on charge for hours.ThanksSo is the battery ready when its turned from red to green? You dont have to wait for it to turn off completely?

Answer:
These are variable. I have a Fuji S20 that takes 4 hours, using separate AA charger.I have a Pentax that takes a battery similar to your NP-45a Li-ion and it takes almost six hours. That's why I purchased 2 extra batteries and keep them charged, so I don't run out of power.I found your battery on amazon.com for about $15 each. These batteries last long so I would start with one back up.Regarding the charger lights, it has been my experience, when the light changes to green, the battery is charged.

Question : help!my fuji digital camera isn't working and i need it for a trip tomorrow the lense keeps saying focus error?
i am leaving tomorrow and it won't work.

Answer:
I'd buy a disposable or borrow something from a friend. If you don't have that luxury, you could try cleaning the lens. If you do this wrong it can damage the camera. I use the same solution and microfiber cloth that they give you to clean glasses. This may solve your problem, but if not, I'd try to get something else to use. If you do get great pictures from the trip, you may want to check out the HD wireless digital frames from Ceiva. http://snurl.com/98odw

Question : I just purchased a Fuji digital camera F40FD. I was wondering if this is a good camera?
I just purchased a Fuji digital camera F40fd. I take pictures in low light and I understand that the Fuji cameras are good for low light photography. I noticed that the camera got warm after taking a couple of pictures also when the lense goes in and out of the camera it grinds a bit especially between the review mode and setting it back to picture mode. I was looking for a F31fd camera or a F45fd camera but could not find one anywhere. So I am wondering if I made the right choice buying the F40fd? I have a couple of days to make up my mind and then I can either exchange the camera or keep the camera. I do not know what to do.I already own a Fuji camera a A820 and the pictures are fairly decent on that camera. I just wanted to bascially up grade that camera because I wanted a smaller more compact camera that worked well in low light. Did I make the right choice?

Answer:
This is a discontinued model. I would recommend a Canon camera over Fuji. Depending on how much you spent on the camera, another choice would be the Canon SD1100 IS. The PowerShot SD1100 IS Digital ELPH features ISO 1600 and High ISO Auto settings that reduce the effects of camera shake and sharpen subjects in low-light situations, giving you greater shooting flexibility. It's small and compact, and the Elph series has been known for it's superior quality for years.

Question : How much does it cost to repair a fuji digital camera?
My friend dropped my camera and there are scratches all over it, the battery holder won't close properly and the lens doesn't go back into the camera when you turn it off. i know thats a lot of damage but about how much do you think it will cost to fix it, or get a new cover pot on it?

Answer:

Question : Do you know what kinda battery the Fuji Z10 digital camera uses?
i am interested in purchasing the Fujifilm FinePix Z10fd 7.2-Megapixel Digital Camera-pink. Is anybody aware of what sort of battery it uses?? And is it a good camera? Any problems?

Answer:
NP-45The sites that I found talked about how the battery didn't last long too.

Question : Just bought a 2nd hand Fuji Finepix digital camera. What does Frame Numbering (Continuous, Renew) mean?
All I got was the camera, no manual with it or anything, but one of the shooting options is called Frame Numbering and you can choose from Continuous or Renew. Does anyone know what this means?

Answer:
It didn't come with the manual? How very odd. Continuous means when you use the next memory card, the photo number (as in, 1, 2, 3 and so on), continues onto next card. Renew means the next card, it resets to 1 (if it's empty, that is). I think I am guessing correctly. I use Canon and I am certain they work the same way.

Question : zoom error on fuji digital camera, how much would it cost to fix it?
It is a fuji finepix f650. Would it be worth sending the camera to the factory to fix or buy a new one? I've only had the camera for 7 months but I did not keep the receipt and the box.

Answer:
If it's a zoom error that requires you to replace the lens on the camera, the parts and labor could run as high as the $200-250 range, but the only way to figure out exactly how much it would cost would be contact Fuji. Try calling their factory service center; they'll be able to tell you if it's something that's under warranty or if you'll have to pay for the repairs yourself, and should be able to give you a ballpark figure for the cost to you.http://www.fujifilmusa.com/JSP/fuji/epartners/ServiceSupportRepairContent.jsp?dbid=674543
