Just One Thing
Great camera. Only negative is the internal memory that comes with the camera. You must buy a flash memory card. Otherwise you can take only a handful of pictures or one little movie before filling up the memory that comes with it
Rating :
Good, but not great
This is a good small point and shoot camera for the price. It is easy to use, has a very clear menu, and a very large LCD display. If you are looking for a 5X zoom with simple menus and an extra big display, this is a great deal. The downside with this camera is that the picture quality is not as good as more expensive cameras, and it does not do well in low light situations. The flash has an effective range of 9.8 feet. Beyond that range the picture will have poor focus or lots of digital noise. It says it can do 1600 and 3200 ISO, but the quality goes down in those situations. The manual says that even in 10 MB Fine mode (highest resolution) they don't recommend enlarging beyond 8 x 12 prints (which was the limitation of my last 3MP Olympus camera). It is nice and compact and easy to use. You will be happy with it as a snapshot camera, but you will want to spend more if you are a serious photographer. I have rated this a 5 because I think you get what you pay for. Even with its limitations, it is a great camera for the price.

easy to use have fun to shoot
Just back from cruise. used it to shoot everyday. I set the camera to the settings I wanted. It performed well for a small camera. small enough to put in pants or shirt pocket. Just love it and worth the price.

Excellent camera
Of all the cameras I've owned in this price range, this has been my favorite. High zoom and resolution, lots of advanced features, compact enough for even a shirt pocket, and all for under $200. I'd highly recommend to anyone looking for an affordable point and shoot.

ok
I love the options, but unfortunately the screen shows streaks just horribly. I tried in various lighting and various subjects, but all the same. Then I hoped that perhaps it wouldn't print out that way, but no such luck. I am preparing to send back to Fuji for repair/replacement. But I really like the package I got (options, details)and felt it the best for the money. Just hope the return/repair process isn't too costly, or else I guess I should have paid up front for a more expensive model.

Customer Review :
Wasn't originally a fan of the touch-screen, now I love it
Having owned 3 different models of the Z-Series Fuji camera, I feel so fortunate to be able to review this top-of-the-line Z700 EXR. I'm a camera buff; I have purchased ten Fuji's since 2003 and have never been let down by any of them. (My oldest, a 2MP A205, still works).
I love the Z700's metal construction. I have the red, that's the only difference is the color. The tripod mount is located center bottom, so you can use a mini-tripod without it tipping over. I'm fairly certain the silver parts are plastic, but the main camera body is metal.
What's in the box? The camera, rechargeable lithium-ion battery, battery charger, USB cable, software CD, basic instruction manual and hand strap. The manual is 23 pages in the English version, and also comes with French and Spanish manuals. The full manual is on the CD.
The lens is protected by a sliding cover which also powers the camera on and off. The lens (5X optical) zooms in and out INSIDE the camera, so you don't have to be as careful when you handle it. Unless you drop the camera you probably won't get a zoom error that commonly happens with cameras where the lens protrudes outward when powered up and you accidentally bump it into something.
One thing I like better about this Z700 than some of the older Z series is the USB connector is not located inside the battery compartment, it's on the side of the camera, behind a door. The battery compartment door (on the bottom) appears to be well-made.
On previous Z cameras the buttons were too close and it was easy to press the incorrect one. I don't have that problem here as everything is done by touch-screen. At the same time I'm a little skeptical that the screen will work years from now. It's a whopping big 3.5 inches, biggest I've seen so far, but it has to be large due to the "buttons" being on the LCD. In any event, once you get used to using it, all the symbols for the functions look similar to what you'd see on a conventional digital camera. A light touch is all that is needed to choose your settings.
The default is the EXR Auto mode - this is similar as the SR Auto (scene recognition) mode on less expensive Fuji's. The sensor is supposed to discern what you are taking a picture of: Portrait, Landscape, Night, Macro, Backlit Portrait, or Night Portrait. In addition to choosing the scene, it also decides which EXR mode to use automatically. Sometimes the pictures turn out better if I choose the mode myself instead of letting the camera do it automatically. Just tap over to either of the 3 EXR shooting modes: HR, SN, or DR, because the camera doesn't always choose the correct scene if used in EXR AUTO (it messes up approximately 5% of the time, not that big a deal, but still....). I haven't been lucky with the SN setting - so far SN has resulted in grainy pictures, I guess practice makes perfect with this setting. (HR is high resolution, SN stands for sensitivity/low noise, and DR stands for dynamic range).
Recovery time after taking a picture without using the flash was under a second; recovery time between pictures with the flash firing was under 2 seconds before the camera was ready to take another shot...this was faster than other cameras I've used recently. Recovery time also depends on the class of your SD card.
This camera has OPTICAL Image Stabilization, accomplished by CCD sensor-shift technology. As far as manual settings, the settings are: ISO, white balance, exposure compensation, size, quality (normal/fine), D-range, and film simulation.
So far I've shot over 100 pictures and some short movies and the battery is still fully charged. The charger is included and you can fully charge the battery in a little over an hour. I prefer lithium batteries over AA's as they make the camera lighter in weight. You just have to plan ahead in case you are going somewhere so you have a fully charged battery, or buy a spare. Speaking of camera weight, the Z700 is slightly heavier than other compact cameras, due to it being metal.
Being a pet owner, my favorite feature is the Pet Recognition. It can recognize the facial features of many dog and cat breeds to optimize the focus. My cats are mixed breeds and they were recognized too. However, it will not recognize Persians with smooshed-up faces. I've noticed that when used in the cat (or dog) mode, the camera tends to focus on the face, and not the rest of the body. Works better as a "portrait" shot. If I'm photographing the entire body, it works better on EXR Auto.
There are two movie selections - HD and 640 in the AVI format. The HD video quality is better than my Flip Mino HD camcorder. Optical zoom needs to be set before recording starts, it cannot be changed after the button is pushed. Focus is also set when recording begins, but exposure and white balance are constantly adjusting during the recording.
Playing movies on your TV requires an optional A/V cable. Playing HD movies requires an optional HDMI cable. There is also a Model HDP-L1 player available on Fujifilm's web site, which includes an HD card reader and a remote. Since I don't have an HDTV, I didn't purchase this so I can't comment on it.
This camera comes with Fuji photo editing software (not a favorite of mine). It's compatible with Windows 7, Vista, XP and Mac. The software is not as good as Picasa, so I don't use it. I never edit my photos while in the camera, it's easier to use the computer for this.
This camera has 30 MB of internal memory, so pick up an SD card with a minimum Class 4 speed.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
THINGS I DON'T LIKE:
1. The screen shows fingerprints so I'm constantly wiping it off with a cloth. I hate dirty screens!
2. One thing I did not expect is that the touchscreen (and the entire camera) gets very warm if you have it turned on for an extended period of time - 10 minutes or so is all it took for mine to heat up - which wouldn't be an unusually long period of time if you are taking lots of pictures. I am not sure if the camera could overheat, but it's something to keep in mind.
3. Due to practically the entire back of the camera being a touch-screen, there's not much area to grasp the camera. I find myself carefully holding the top and bottom. And I ruined a lot of pictures in the beginning with my fingers getting in the way of the lens.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
WHO WOULD I RECOMMEND THIS CAMERA FOR? Not a young child because of the touch-screen - easily broken and this camera isn't cheap. Not for grandma or grandpa either unless they are somewhat comfortable with digital cameras already. For everyone else: Go for it! It's a cool-looking camera that takes really great pictures. I would definitely choose another Fuji with the Super CCD EXR. Would I buy another touch-screen? I'm not sure at this point. It will depend on how long this one lasts before it gives me trouble. I hope it never does. To be honest, I didn't much care for the touch-screen at first, but it's growing on me.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
If you need a camera case, this one is perfect for the Z700EXR Lowepro Volta 20 Camera Case (Black) and it has enough room to carry an extra battery and SD card.

My Old Camera
I Have Had This Camera For Over 2 Years Now, When I First Got It, It Was The Best Thing Out...Now..., Im Starting A Photography Page, And It Seems Like This Camera Lacks The "HD" Look When It Comes To Pictures. It Held Up Well Over The Years, But Its Time For A New Camera. The Video Quality Sucks!, So Dont Base Your Buy On That. It Takes Ok Pictures, I Mean It Got Me Started On My Photography...I Would Recommend This For The Average Teenager, Or A Busy Mom Who Doesn't Want To Miss Those Special Moments.

This camera was a gift to myself. It takes excellent pictures and was well worth the price. It arrived very quickly and it perfect condition..I would definitely order again!

Great quality for photos and video-Easy to use
This is a great Camera for a great price(I got it on sale for about $120) It is VERY easy to use and comes with terrific photo editing software. Features include: ~Rechargeable battery(charger included) ~MANY photo settings(party, inside, outside, close up,time,ZOOM,timer..etc) ~Video mode(You will need a SD card for memory) ~point and shoot ~Anti blur/shake
It is very small and lightweight I got this camera to replace to Kodak easy share. The Battery lasts a long time on each charge, longer than other cameras I have had Very nice photo quality and a very reasonable price.

Great Movies Poor photos
I used this for more than a year and finally got rid of it. The photo quality was very disappointing and was finally forced to carry my old Canon digital elph for pics. The movie quality was very good and I loved the MP4 (lots of video very small files) format but just could not stand the pictures.
The ergonomics were not the best. Worst feature was a very small separate movie button very hard to turn on and off. It was nice having a separate button for pics and movies but still. . . . . .
Another bad feature was it is very easy to put the left fingers over the lens. This is the result of a good feature in that the lens never protrudes from the camera but then you have no reference point and the fingers get over the lens very easily especially if you rest fingers on top of camera.
Just finally had to sell it - believe me you can do a lot better than this camera. I replaced it with a Nikon coolpix L20 on closeout at Sams for $59 - Great photos excellent video - although AVI format but at least I carry one camera again.

Great Camera
I have owned this device for 2 years and I think it takes wonderful photos. It is easy to use and I have never had a problem. I am looking at these reviews today because I recently lost mine and I am considering buying the exact model I lost. There are lots of new features offered by Fuji, but I know this is a great little camera. By the way, I also own a professional Nikon. I know what great photos look like.

Great camera !
This is the seconde Finepix A-series camera we have purchased and they're great. Fantastic price and well built. Our first Fujifilm camera was an A600 and the A610 is even better. It has a larger LCD screen and takes multiple types of memory! Also, consider the fact that it uses standard AA batteries (I'd suggest the 'ion' type for longevity). Fantastic camera.

Fujifilm A610 Camera
This is a nice camera, but I chose it because the right-hand thumb location adds stability, which allowed for single hand usage. I would have liked the red-eye reduction and higher ISO ratings in the A810 model, but I would have lost the thumb rest to a function wheel, which would then require two hand usage. I have a handicapped user and single hand operation is required. It's funny that most modern cameras work to be sleek, but ignore getting a good grip on the unit. The pictures are good, but not as good in low lighting due to the lower ISO rating. Features are nice excluding those I've griped about. I would recommend the A810 model if you don't mind using two hands all the time. If you have kids, single hand operation is useful even for anyone. :)

Great product for the price
This item was purchased in 2008. I own a home based business, and use this camera in my work to take pictures for our catalog, and to identify our inventory. It has performed excellently since the time of purchase, and is in use even now. I am very satisfied with this item, and do highly reccommend it.

Great camera and at a great price. Only minus is it is not all that thin (due to using batteries) - but still fits well in your pocket!

Terrible Customer Service!!!
The camera is fine as long as nothing goes wrong. Fuji has the worst customer service I have ever delt with. They pass you from one person to another and do everything they can not to help you. Be prepared to deal with the worst customer service in the business. I really hope this helps you.

Questions & Answers
Question : fuji digital camera reverts back to japanese?
Fuji F10 camera purchased in Japan, has started corrupting files making precious photos unreadable on a computer but they can be viewed on the camera. Re-formatting the XD memory card is the only answer to making it usable again. Another issue is that the camera settings revert back to original Japanese and the date resets back to 2005 at random. Fuji tech support did not recognise the fault and their only recomendation was to return camera for service but this investigation would cost more than a new camera. Anyone else experienced similar problems?the camera is not designed exclusively for the Japanese market. It is identical to the F10 available in Britain.
Answer:
FUJI cameras often have Firmware Updates, which you should try prior to return it to FUJI for servicing! Here's the link for your model.Help that solves your problems ;-)

Question : Where is the internal battery on a fuji s3100 digital camera?
Can not get camera to hold date and time
Answer:
Your instruction book should tell you where it is. If you can't find it, call Fuji and see if they can help you.

Question : Fuji digital camera is very cheap. Do I have any reasons not to buy it?
I just compared it with other brand with the same spec. Fuji is about 40-50% cheaper than other popular brands. Is it worse than others?
Answer:
They actualyl pretty good, Fujifilm camera to digital kinda late compare to other, but fujifilm was like the king in film camera. Fujifilm Digital camera has some of the very best camera sensor and great design. However it lack some friendly mode scene as other offer, but fuji does take very nice picture.

Question : Anyone know of a great Olympus or Fuji point-and-shoot digital camera?
I'm looking for details here... I have lots of xD memory and my camera has gone belly up... anyone have feedback on current Olympus or Fuji digital cameras?
Answer:
Between those two brands...sorry, but Olympus is a brand I would never consider (due to it's so-so photo quality). The Fujifilm Finepix F30, however, is a compact point & shoot camera that performs extremely well in low light (high ISO, handheld, no flash). No other compact can compete with it in this area. I would buy it for that capability alone. So, if you want a compact camera particularly for low light situations, then it's the one to get. It also has great battery life of up to 580 shots. The newer, F31 fd, is a minor update but hasn't been reviewed as yet. But, if you ever decide to invest in SD memory, then have a look at Canon ;-)

Question : How much does it cost to repair a fuji digital camera?
My friend dropped my camera and there are scratches all over it, the battery holder won't close properly and the lens doesn't go back into the camera when you turn it off. i know thats a lot of damage but about how much do you think it will cost to fix it, or get a new cover pot on it?
Answer:
The link i provided has a future near the top where they give you a free price quote. you need to no the model of you camera and an approximate age.

Question : extra zoom lenses for the Fuji finepix s700 digital camera.?
I was wondering what kind of extra zoom lenses can be purchased for the Fuji s700 digital camera. If I can buy extra lenses, where would I find them. I am from Canada. I will mostly use this camera at a race track 80% of the time it will be night.
Answer:
It has a 10X optical zoom. Fuji doesn't offer any "front lens" add-ons. There may be some "after market" ones offered but they would probably be a waste of money.

Question : help!my fuji digital camera isn't working and i need it for a trip tomorrow the lense keeps saying focus error?
i am leaving tomorrow and it won't work.
Answer:
I'd buy a disposable or borrow something from a friend. If you don't have that luxury, you could try cleaning the lens. If you do this wrong it can damage the camera. I use the same solution and microfiber cloth that they give you to clean glasses. This may solve your problem, but if not, I'd try to get something else to use. If you do get great pictures from the trip, you may want to check out the HD wireless digital frames from Ceiva. http://snurl.com/98odw
