Perfect Camera for both semi-pros and semi-travelers

I love the size, features and cost of this camera. It make it so much easier for me to enjoy taking pictures and knowing that it is helping me get the correct focus and obtaining pictures I am shooting for one reason and seeing other reasons I would have taken the same shot had I seen it originally.

Great price!

Nice.. Very Nice..

I love this camera so much, I purchased it three times.
It has great zoom, nice clear pics on 4MB selection, nice video too. It comes with a 16MB card, which, now that the hi def pics arent 2MB each (about 800k), you can fit more than 8. I purchased a 1 GB card that can hold several hundred pics, as well as decent, good quality video. It comes with FinePix software which allows you to make a Video CD, DVD, etc.. which is nice for special occassions. I purchased a USB XD reader with this to take the card out, and connect directly into my laptop, rather than physically connecting the camera to the laptop. The downside is the long startup time, and its hunger for batteries. Use Energize Lithum batteries. They last at least 50 times longer than regular batteries. Long distance inside pics with ok or dark light dont come out very well, unless you set it for nightpics, and have a tripod. The manual settings are good if you know what they mean. I like the shutter delay while photographing fireworks with a tripod.

A very nice shot!

I just received mine and love it. Not a bad deal for a lower end style digital camera. I am definitely an amateur who just happens to love shooting pics. The Fuji S5100 gives me the option to both point and shoot OR adjust for manual shooting. This is my 3rd digital camera and really was not looking to get anything besides a Canon or Sony, but am now a believer. Additionally, I saw in a Consumer Report today (June 2009) that Fuji ranks higher than Canon and Sony for less repair issues (only 3%). Also, be sure to see my pics here under recently added (not most popular). I shot them the same day I got the camera. I just went for it and think I got some really great shots.

The absolute WORST customer service!!!

The camera is fine as long as nothing goes wrong. Fuji has the worst customer service I have ever delt with. They pass you from one person to another and do everything they can not to help you. Be prepared to deal with the worst customer service in the business. I really hope this helps you.

good transition from SLR film camera.

As an owner of a Pentax K-1000, I really like this Fuji S5100. Its simple to use, and the prints come out very nice. I like the feel of this camera because it feels like my SLR. I find the little pocket digitals no different that the old Kodak pocket camera. I like the S5100 for its options and ease of use.

Congratulations!

An amazingly strong camera!

I am very serious in everything that follows:

Over a course of four years, this camera has withstood more abuse than any camera should. I have literally run it over with my car at 40 mph on dirt... more than once. I have dropped it over a hundred times onto hard surfaces. The front faceplate looks like it has 3 bullet dents. The LCD screen has dust and hairs behind it. It is scratched so much you can't see scratches. It has been rained on, dropped in mud, and been literally thrown from a car traveling at 55 mph, sent into brush. It has been stuck with double sided tape to the back of a car doing 55 mph offroad. It was taped to the front of a motorcycle. It was held outside the window of a car doing 100 mph. It was held outside a car doing 70 mph in the rain. It was used in 0 degree flash freezes.

I never thought anything about Fuji... and now I can't imagine buying anything else. I simply cannot stress how great this camera is. It is not a shockproof camera--but it has earned the title!

Don't believe me? See this camera in action, "Chris Offroads his Sebring" on YouTube:

After over a year of use, I feel it is more than safe to say WOW! Fantastic videos & many high quality photos. Many were taken on horseback during long distance competion in high winds, blowing snow, blowing rain, frozen & even nice weather.

Took care of the problem super fast

The zoom wouldn't work on the first camera sent it back and got one that is perfect. Very nice no hassles.

Grainy indoor pictures

This camera takes great outdoor pictures, but indoor pictures esp at lower light and close ups are quite grainy. I bought a Nikon Coolpix P80, a little more expensive and larger to carry, but the picture quality is much better. Still looking for a great pocket sized camera.

Neat camera

I have the pink one. I love the color, and I feel special because it slides to turn on. No it might not get the best pictures, but it suits my needs. If I want to be a photographer, I'll buy a slr camera. As far as I know it doesn't have sepia, which isn;t the end of the world. I wish it has better pixels also.

Love this camera

This camera takes great pictres. I love the size of it. I would still like to get a digital slr camera that you can add different lens too but this camera has awesome features. I like that it is easy to travel with and light weight, it fits in my purse. I also like that they sell an acc. for it where you can use it underwater. In my opinion this camera can't be beat for price, quality, features etc. I can't find any faults and the face detection is pretty neat. Enjoy it if you get it.

Allowed me to print VERY LARGE pictures

I was preparing for a trip to Peru, and needed my first digital camera for my first trip out of the country. Because my room is very sparse, I was hoping to be able to decorate with some very large pictures. In fact, the only thing I cared about was the ability break a picture down into many smaller pieces, print each of them out, and to print each out so that they could be combined into very large pictures of high quality. In this, the camera worked perfectly! I printed one particular picture (that wasn't even in the highest resolution)on 12 pieces of photo paper. This gave me a picture that was 2.5 ft wide and almost 3 ft tall. The quality of the pictures is fantastic. Even when inspecting the picture from inches away I cannot see individual pixels. I am confident that, if I had enough photo paper, I could enlarge higher resolution pictures to more than 5 feet tall without any distracting loss of quality.

The only reason I didn't give this camera 5 stars is because I am not familiar enough with the more advanced features to give the camera a perfect overall score. All I can say is that for my uses, it was amazing!

12 MP digital camera

this is a great camera.
my first digital was also a fuji. my son is using it now. 2 other digital cameras I have had are trash. lasted 1>2 years and died.
purchased one for a co-worker, for her son @ work, and he says it is great.
battery life is very good, second battery is a good idea though, no loss of picture time that way.
have taken several videos with it in Vegas, they came out very good.

Not worth $60

It's really hard to get good photos with this camera and it has some major distortion problems. Pricing it over $70 is a stretch, and over $200, how absurd unless it's pristine and for a gallery of camera types of some sort. You can expect every picture you get from this thing, to, half the time be plagued with graininess. It's very poor in low light conditions and the lens is easy to scratch. Look elsewhere for a low budget quality camera.

Rating :

Was OK......When it worked

It appears from looking around the net that these cameras have a common problem. They simply fail to turn on which makes them an ugly paperweight. Mine worked for about one week.

A Great Camera for the money.

This Fuji uses standard SD cards which makes it just as handy as any other camera (Fuji finally got away from expensive xD cards). I like the feel of the camera because it doesn't feel like a cube of platic, it feels like a real camera should. I have had no problems with the picture quality the other reviewers mentioned. I also find it quite easy to navigate. It seems to have good battery life and has been very reliable and inexpensive to use since it takes only 2 AA batteries. I would rate this camera at 4.5 stars.

Awesome Outdoor Photos, But Indoor Photos Takes Some Tweeking

I purchased this camera after having a Fujifilm FinePix 2650 2MP Digital Camera w/ 3x Optical Zoom for years that I LOVED and it took awesome photos with very little effort (I'm very much the amatuer photographer).

I've been a bit disappointed in this newer Fujifilm camera, however, as it's not so easy to use.

Taking outdoor photos is a breeze. And with 8 megapixels, the shots are very clear and full of detail. However, you can't just click and shoot with indoor photos; to get the best quality you really must read and understand the users manual. Even then, it still takes a great deal of tweeking to get the perfect photo.

I highly recommend purchasing a memory card as the internal disk does not hold many photos.

Question : help!my fuji digital camera isn't working and i need it for a trip tomorrow the lense keeps saying focus error?
i am leaving tomorrow and it won't work.

Answer:
I'd buy a disposable or borrow something from a friend. If you don't have that luxury, you could try cleaning the lens. If you do this wrong it can damage the camera. I use the same solution and microfiber cloth that they give you to clean glasses. This may solve your problem, but if not, I'd try to get something else to use. If you do get great pictures from the trip, you may want to check out the HD wireless digital frames from Ceiva. http://snurl.com/98odw

Question : What digital camera? Fuji A920, fuji J10. Kodak C813, Kodak v1003...or other?
I have been looking at cheap digital cameras, I have always like fuji and own one of their higher market ones for business purposes, and I have had a Kodak in the past........however I am now looking for a point and shoot camera for under £100. All the models mentioned above seem ok but I really don't know the difference...any ideas?

Answer:
I've always liked Fuji. I have had a few of them (when I buy a new one I give the old one to a charity or family member), and I have never had a problem with the. I like that Fuji uses glass lenses as they give you a better quality picture than plastic lenses. Also, I have noticed that Fuji cameras have a good learning curve, so if you are a beginner, intermediate or expert user you will find useful features. But, in that price range they are all about the same, just go for one that will have the features that you want and need.

Question : zoom error on fuji digital camera, how much would it cost to fix it?
It is a fuji finepix f650. Would it be worth sending the camera to the factory to fix or buy a new one? I've only had the camera for 7 months but I did not keep the receipt and the box.

Answer:
If it's a zoom error that requires you to replace the lens on the camera, the parts and labor could run as high as the $200-250 range, but the only way to figure out exactly how much it would cost would be contact Fuji. Try calling their factory service center; they'll be able to tell you if it's something that's under warranty or if you'll have to pay for the repairs yourself, and should be able to give you a ballpark figure for the cost to you.http://www.fujifilmusa.com/JSP/fuji/epartners/ServiceSupportRepairContent.jsp?dbid=674543

Question : Fuji digital camera is very cheap. Do I have any reasons not to buy it?
I just compared it with other brand with the same spec. Fuji is about 40-50% cheaper than other popular brands. Is it worse than others?

Answer:
They actualyl pretty good, Fujifilm camera to digital kinda late compare to other, but fujifilm was like the king in film camera. Fujifilm Digital camera has some of the very best camera sensor and great design. However it lack some friendly mode scene as other offer, but fuji does take very nice picture.

Question : Anyone know of a great Olympus or Fuji point-and-shoot digital camera?
I'm looking for details here... I have lots of xD memory and my camera has gone belly up... anyone have feedback on current Olympus or Fuji digital cameras?

Answer:
Between those two brands...sorry, but Olympus is a brand I would never consider (due to it's so-so photo quality). The Fujifilm Finepix F30, however, is a compact point & shoot camera that performs extremely well in low light (high ISO, handheld, no flash). No other compact can compete with it in this area. I would buy it for that capability alone. So, if you want a compact camera particularly for low light situations, then it's the one to get. It also has great battery life of up to 580 shots. The newer, F31 fd, is a minor update but hasn't been reviewed as yet. But, if you ever decide to invest in SD memory, then have a look at Canon ;-)
