Awesome Camera!
I got the HP Photosmart M425 for my birthday and I love it!!!! It is easy to use and takes incredible pics! No complaints.

Point & Shoot Simplicity
HP Photosmart M425 5MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom is simplicity itself. All the basic functions are there in this lightweight, basic compact camera. The icons are easily understood and onboard graphic additions like frames can be fun. It doesn't seem to go through batteries as fast as other digital cameras I have. It's also super easy to transfer images and videos to my computer, with or without HP's Photosmart software (I actually prefer Google's freeware, PicasaII, to transfer and catalog images much more quickly).
I keep it in my purse, and often pull it out to snap something or to show off my pictures, clearly visible in the 1.7" digital screen, to friends and co-workers (hey, if I have to look at their kids and grandkids pics, then they have to ooooh and aaahhhh over my pretty pet portraits!).
The only gripe I have is having to reset the date with battery changes (in the few instances I actually wanted a date-stamp on my photos).

GRRRREAT! AND FAST!
This camera is great! I ordered it the day before my birthday, it said it would come through May 20th-26th and it came the 19th! So woot! I can take over 500 pictures (it came with a memory card). The video is great, and the photos are great and clear. The only thing is the darn batteries! They run out too fast! But i have rechargeable batteries. I have trouble with uploading the videos, but i can learn! But so far, so good!
P.S. if you order it from amazon, i cannot guarantee that it will be nice and fresh, it depends who you order it from.

pansy
This is the wussiest camera I have ever used. I bought the year long warranty, which I highly recommend as I ended up breaking 4 of these cameras over 2 years. The shutter lens gets stuck constantly. If it gets just a little rain on it, it gets frazzled or dies. If you drop it, even from 3 or so feet, it's dead. If you are the kind of person who puts your camera in it's case in between every shot, and are vigilant about it's safety, then it's not a bad camera. But if you are even a little outdoorsy, or clumsy, and esp. if you're both, look at the olympus stylus 770 sw, or just don't buy this camera.

so-so camera
This camera i have had for a while, and i personally think it stinks. It is somewhat heavy for this range. The mega pixels are only 5, zoom is only 3x, and it takes AA batteries. It's battery life is not very good, it is heavy, and overall i would not suggest it.

camera has many flaws
I purchased this camera 1 year ago, and I was so disappointed in the performance. The battery life is terrible, I took it to our town's Christmas Parade, and all the pictures are grainy and really poor quality. I posted some so you can see, also when you take a picture you can not take a picture for another good ten seconds. I had a two foot away shot of the rapper Nelly, and the camera didn't take the shot, and I only caught a shot of his tattoo on his arm! Save your money and get a better camera, like the Canon A630 the same price and much better quality, the battery life is fantastic and the night shots are great too. The shutter speed is much better too. I now have my HP in the closet because when I tried to use it on Thanksgiving the zoom would no longer zoom, and the lense does not retract. The only way I can turn off the power is too take out the batteries! I never dropped it or mistreated my camera, it is just not a good quality camera.

good camera
I've had this camera for well over a year, and I love it. It does take a while to recharge its flash and that has frustrated me at times. This can be helped, but not totally avoided, by always having freshly recharged batteries.
It does eat batteries quickly, but I find that as long as I recharge them enough, it's fine. It only takes two AA batteries and most rechargeable batteries come in sets of at least four, so I always have an extra two with me and switch them out if need be. Of course, if you're the kind of person who always forgets to/never charges their batteries, this is a bad choice for you.
It takes wonderful pictures. I've used it in pretty much any setting you can think of and it's been great. If you leave it someplace cold it'll take a bit to turn back on, but I imagine any other camera would have a similar problem.
Some other reviewers have said this isn't a hardy piece of machinery. Maybe I've just been lucky, but I've dropped the thing a number of times and it's still good as new. A little scratched, of course, but it works just as well as it did when it was new.
I pretty much recommend this to anyone, unless you have a problem with being patient about things. Yes, the flash can take a bit to recharge, so just anticipate that. Make sure your batteries are charged. That's all. =)

COMPLETE JUNK!
This is the most over priced and poorest quality cameras on the market. I have returned mine twice for repairs and now the auto focus is going out. The camera's MACRO function is a joke and if your looking for a camera that can take pictures in low light then this ain't it because it won't. DO NOT BUY THIS CAMERA!

Not a very good camera
I have had this camera since December of 2005.But i got i with the printer too.The printer is very good. But more can be said for the camera. For a few reasons The battery life is very poor.Like it can probley last you 30 mins at the most. And some times if you take a lot of pictures you can use them from the camera. And it will say photo can not be found. And sometimes whene you turn the camera on the screen will be off.And the screen is kind of bleek and dark and blurry too.And the video quality is horrible. And when you are taking a video with the camer the videos are very blurry and poor. And when you take a video you can look at the video on the camera but you CAN NOT HEAR THE SOUND.You have to have a computer to here the sound. And my grandpa has a canon and you can watch the video and hear the sound on the camera too!!!!!And in my opinon HP makes better computers then cameras. Thanks.

HP Photosmart R927
This camera is fantastic! It takes great pictures to save on the computer or to print. The controls are easy to use- even my photo challenged husband can take great pictures. It takes beautiful pictures in low lighting too which is great! It is not cheap plastic, but has a metal casing. I will definately get another HP if this one ever goes bad.

Yet again another great camera from HP
This camera is not slow like some people are saying, like 1 person said use a SanDisk or HP memory card they have more speed. If that deosn't work than just simply change the red-eye setting in the camera, because with this setting on, the camera will try to fix the red-eye on every single picture you take before you can take another. The camera has so many fetures but yet it is so easy to use plus at 8.0MP you get great clear pictures.

Great Camera
Best digital camera I ever owned. Awesome quality, great battery life, and design, nice strong houseing, great flash for day, inside or nighttime and best of all it's a good price. Made with quality unlike their printers which suck.

Nice camera
I have had this camera for 8 months now and I love this camera. The prints are wonderful no matter how much I crop them. I had an HP camera prior to this one and I had it for 5 years and loved it. So I purchased this camera and I have not been disappointed with it. Has many features of which I haven't used them all yet. Would not trade this camera for any other.

Will never buy another HP camera!
This is my second HP camera and both had the similar problems....bad battery charge....The first camera came free with my purchase; I didn't use it for several months and when I tried it wouldn't charge, even after buying a new battery. This second camera (R927) had the flash quit working shortly after the waranty ran out....and still wouldn't work even with a new battery. The only way to take pictures at all is to turn the flash off completely. Also, I have been very unhappy with sharpness and color quality overall. I have always liked HP Photosmart printers, but their cameras...not very good. Waste of money!

Super camera for this price
I bought this camera 9 months ago and I've been very happy with it. Picture quality is superb. Never showed blurry pictures unless "shooting without flash in darker places". If you shoot without flash in dark places pictures will be blurry. It is not a flaw. This problem is related to "night shot" ability. You may choose others for more money. Movie quality is medium. Overall this is a perfect choice for leisure purposes.

Not worth the money
I purchased this camera about a year ago. I've not had the problems with blurry photos that the other reviewers have had, the quality was great. Unfortunately, the batteries are depleted within minutes. If you buy this camera be prepared to have a lot of batteries onhand if you plan to take photos for any length of time.
We haven't used the camera for about two months and when we tried to use it today we found that it won't take pictures at all. It stays on as long as we're only reviewing photos or adjusting the settings but as soon as we try to take a photo the battery light flashes and the camera turns itself off. We put a fresh set of batteries in the camera and had only adjusted the settings and the screen flashed that the batteries were already depleted.

Good camera!
I received this camera as a gift for Christmas in 2005. I am still using it without any problems to this day. I dropped this camera on cement steps and it still works. This camera takes great pictures, no fuzziness or blurring unless you dont have a steady hand. I have used this tons of times without problems. I even took a photograph with it that won Best Of Show at the local art fair. Battery drain can be bad with any digital camera if you use the screen. If you get name-brand batteries, they will last longer. It mainly depends on whether or not you use the viewing screen to frame the picture. The one problem I did have was when I got impatient and did not let the camera finish saving the picture to the card and tried to take another picture then shut the camera off. It "corrupted" (half of the picture had the film negative look) a few pictures on the memory card. You should let the camera finish saving the picture before trying to take the next one just to be safe.
All in all, I have taken some amazing pictures with this camera and some not so amazing ones (thanks to me) When I have a steady hand or tripod, this camera takes SHARP & CLEAR pictures. 5mp is great for anything up to 8x10
I would recommend the HP M415 to anyone looking for a great Point and Shoot

good for the price
I received this with a missing usb cord and the wrong memory card.Thought to be broken. I was about to give up until I read the manual about its internal memory. It functions fantastic. Be sure to have jumbo maH in the aa rechargables, 5.2 mp is huge. My 1700 maH aa's do very good and it recharges the flash in no time, at least as quick as my a205 fujifilm (same batteries go figure). The extras really are good like "5mp best" and audio with simple vid recording. Great for price, and even better for free. go to hp for the memory module, it seems to be very finnicky even if following hp's guidelines on what this camera will take for external memory cards. This one returned errors even with a correct card, but hp's correct card seems to be the best answer.

Final Pictures are screwy - Pixel layout highly distorted
Let me start by saying I'm a huge HP fan. My PC is an old HP, both of my printers are HP (the 820C and the photosmart 7760), and my previous two digital cameras are HP. I can't tell you how disappointed I am with the M415. The pictures look great on the rear display, and even on the thumbnails as the images are being upload, but the horror and disappoint comes when you blow up the image to full screen - the bottom half of the picture is missing! Let's put it this way, it might as well be missing. The bottom half of my pictures look like someone has cut it in half and replaced with a negative (you know, the 35mm film negatives)of part of the bottom half. The real trouble comes in that the problem is not consistant - I can take 20 pictures with no flaws, but the next 50 will be screwed up. I've missed wedding, graduation, vacation, and baby pictures with this camera. Mind you, this is the second camera (the M415) HP has sent me, both with the same problem. HP still insists that they have never heard of the problem before (BTW, tech support is very polite, but very slow. Over 4 phone calls I was on hold 7 hours). The camera is too expensive for me replace after just 4 months - buyer beware.

Horrible camera
This has got to be the worse camera I have ever used. I have given it a year of use and I am sorry to say that in all of 2008 I do not have one good photo that was taken indoors. All are grainy, red eye/glo eye, and tons of white spots on every photo. I threw the camera in the trash tonight after veiwing my x-mas photos.
I also have never been able to download the photos from the camera had to use a USB card reader to tranfer them.
I wasted a whole year of photos that I will never be able to replace. I would never recommend this to anyone.I have had it with HP--

Good, easy, point and shoot
I've had this camera for about 14 months now. I carried it around in my jeans pocket for an entire year. The camera is durable. I dropped it a few times and have had it bang into all kinds of stuff while in my pocket. After 12 months the plastic piece that holds the battery broke and the battery would push its door open. I found that if I bent the door a little (it has a metal hinge) then it wouldn't be forced open by the battery. I figured that after the wear and tear I put the camera through, that was a reasonable breakage. The one complaint I have is the software for connecting to a PC. It doesn't really work. The easiest thing is to not bother with it. Just pull out the memory card and put it in your computer (or get a usb card reader if your computer doesn't have a built in one). That will take just a min or two to get all the photos from your camera to the computer. Then just put the card back in the camera and its good to go. The picture quality is good. The camera does have trouble in low light if you don't use a flash. But that is pretty typical of point and shoot camera. Pictures from this camera seem to have more than average red eye, but that never bothered me. The big selling point for me was the internal lens. When you focus, it adjusts inside the camera instead of extending out. This way if the camera gets turned on in your pocket or purse the lens won't get damaged because it stays inside the camera. I also love the touch screen. All cameras should have a UI like this one. So much easier to use and figure out. I recommend this camera.

HP937 Offers Large LCD Screen and Many Great Pictures
The Hewlett- Packard Photosmart R937 Digital Camera is a slightly more advanced digital camera than the average with a few extra features that make some of the simpler digital cameras pale in comparison. I have owned a few different digital cameras in my day and with each purchase, I tend to look for more features in a more user- friendly package. This HP camera combines the features I had on my last Hewlett- Packard camera with a larger viewing screen and more photo effects for more advanced and more convenient photography.
Hewlett- Packard Photosmart R937 Digital Camera offers many good reasons to rate it highly but among them, the one that caught my attention first was the huge LCD screen. Small viewing screens are a great annoyance with many digital cameras, but the LCD screen on the Hewlett- Packard Photosmart R937 Digital Camera measures a whopping 3.6 inches. In fact, it encompasses almost the entire back side of the camera and it provided exactly the extra viewing area I wanted. Not only does the large screen make it easy to capture images and clearly see the image you are about to take, it is also perfect for the playback of the video feature. With a screen this large, one can preview a video with ease. There is no need to strain the eyes when the LCD screen on your camera is 3.6 inches.
This camera offers many different shooting modes to create just the right picture. Beach, landscape, snow, sunset, etc., are among the many choices and you need to just try each one out to find out which one works best for different situations. I also like the auto- shooting mode. Using this, the Hewlett- Packard Photosmart R937 Digital Camera becomes idiot proof. It will do its best to conform the image electronically, saving the user the time or hassle of seeking out just the right mode. Picture cleanup is also very fast with the Hewlett- Packard Photosmart R937 Digital Camera. The large LCD screen makes it easy to find problems and makes it easy to delete the problems with a touch of the screen.
Is everything perfect with the Hewlett- Packard Photosmart R937 Digital Camera? No, there are a few problem areas. One is the lack of available memory. There is enough space on this camera to handle about 20 to 25 pictures. This isn't much at all, and it won't suffice for even the casual picture taker. This is why memory cards are a must with this camera. Another problem is with the zoom function. It doesn't zoom very wide, and it is also one of the few features of the Hewlett- Packard Photosmart R937 Digital Camera that is not activated by using the touch screen. Another small complaint is the time it takes to transfer pictures from the camera to your pc. The 1.1 USB connection isn't very fast, so you have to be patient as you wait for the pictures to flow from one device to the next.
Perfect or near- perfect digital cameras may exist, but they will likely cost a week's wages or more and are not practical for the casual photographer. The Hewlett- Packard Photosmart R937 Digital Camera isn't perfect, but it does take plenty of great pictures, offers great editing, has a long battery life, and offers a gigantic LCD viewing area of 3.6 inches, all for a relatively low price. It's a winning digital camera in my book, giving you the minimum features you want plus a little bit more without the excessively high price tag common with the more sophisticated cameras.

Question : I'm looking for an instruction manuel for a hewlett packard camera. model 618?
have no instruction manuel for a model 618 hp digital camera. I'd like to find the web site where I could order one, the flash is not working. Not having the manuel, I can't find in the menu where the flash might be turned off.
Answer:
good luck. they never made an instruction manual so you'll be looking a long time. HP began outsourcing their camera manual writing at the time the 618 was produced. The first manual was written in Hindi and Farsi but not in English (I assume you're an English speaker? ) By the time HP rectified the problem using their Farsi translation software the camera was already obsolete and defective. There has been a class action lawsuit filed in Hosuton Superior Court over this issue and the Judge is considering placing a moratorium and injunction on future HP products

Its a hp Hewlett Packard photosmart digital camera with 2x digital zoom.I put brand new batteries in it and even a new memory card. What can i do to fix it? I need Help! QUICK!
Answer:
Check that the batteries are inserted correctly. If it's under warranty, send it in for servicing. If it's not, try removing the batteries and leaving them out for a day or two. If it still doesn't work, toss it. Unfortunately, your cheapie HP won't be worth the cost to fix it, just replace it!

Question : How can I fix the battery door on my Hewlett Packard digital camera?
I have a Hewlett Packard Photosmart hp 315 digital camera, and the trap door for the batteries is broken. The catch that would keep the door shut seems chipped off, so i have to keep the door shut with my thumb, or the batteries come spilling out. Is there a way to fix this? Howe much will repairs cost me? The camera itself works fine, just the battery door is busted..
Answer:
see if you can buy the battery door part separately. if not then I would suggest some gaffer tape. and just tape it shut.
