Batteries & Flash
Bought 2 of these & gave 1 to a friend - Had flash problems right away & dealt w/ H.P.Support 4 times - They claimed batteries were the problem each time! After buying fresh rechargables locally twice w/ no improvement I got Sony batteries & it works perfect
A great camera @ a low price w/ superb tech support Thank You

Love the camera, but disappointed about the company's sale.
The MZ67 Digital Camera that I bought as a gift for my to be husband, was great. He loves it. But one thing , it did not come with the CD and other items that was advertised with it. I emailed the company and also Amazon, and Amazon did the best they could on my behalf. I will not order from that company again. They do not comply with what they advertise and plus in order to use the camera the way you want to use it, the CD comes in very handy. Thank you.

Stupid retracting lens!
I bought this camera a couple years ago... a friend of mine dropped it and the retracting lens slipped its gears and wouldnt work! I called the company and and after HOURS of irritation they said it was still under waranty and would send me a new one. They did so, but it seriously took alot of phone time and talking to customer service people who did not seem to understand english and wanted to call me at 4am to ask questions! I got my new camera 6 to 8 months ago and the lens is already acting stupid! (And it HASNT been dropped this time!) Its getting stuck open and wont close...or it closes and refuses to open again! I refuse to go through the hell I went through LAST time to replace it so I am in the market for a NEW digital camera...preferably one WITHOUT a retracting lens! Its sad because I love the pictures it takes...the zoom is awesome.... its easy to use.... video is good.... but this lens issue is a BIG problem! When it wont open half the time to even TAKE a picture? it doesnt really matter how GOOD the pics are!

Camera not worth the money
It is extremely difficult to get a quality photo out of this camera. Nine out of ten photos are fuzzy. I've tried several different settings. After about a year of use I dropped the camera and broke it. My gain, I guess. I'll go back to my bulky sony until I can afford a new one. It won't be an HP.

Nice camera, except
I like the camera, don't get me wrong. It does a nice job taking pictures, movies and has a lot of storage with the SM card. Very easy to use, nice large display. The bad, be careful when you open the compartment that holds the batteries and storage card. The clip that holds the flap down is made of soft cheap plastic and breaks very easy. I have to use packing tape now to hold it together It should have been made of metal. If you take a picture or movie and use the zoom control wait 3-4 seconds before you take the picture or your image will be out of focus. I found out the hard way and missed a shuttle launch now I have a clip that is out of focus. The wife hates that it does not have a view finder, you have to look at the display to see what you are shooting.

HP Photosmart
The HP Photosmart R937 digital camera is the best camera I have ever owned. It was disappointing to learn that HP stopped manufacturing them. I was so glad to be able to find another on Amazon.com! Thanks to Luke Childs, I received the camera in excellent condition with many accessories including a 4 GB memory stick! Love it.

HP937 Offers Large LCD Screen and Many Great Pictures
The Hewlett- Packard Photosmart R937 Digital Camera is a slightly more advanced digital camera than the average with a few extra features that make some of the simpler digital cameras pale in comparison. I have owned a few different digital cameras in my day and with each purchase, I tend to look for more features in a more user- friendly package. This HP camera combines the features I had on my last Hewlett- Packard camera with a larger viewing screen and more photo effects for more advanced and more convenient photography.
Hewlett- Packard Photosmart R937 Digital Camera offers many good reasons to rate it highly but among them, the one that caught my attention first was the huge LCD screen. Small viewing screens are a great annoyance with many digital cameras, but the LCD screen on the Hewlett- Packard Photosmart R937 Digital Camera measures a whopping 3.6 inches. In fact, it encompasses almost the entire back side of the camera and it provided exactly the extra viewing area I wanted. Not only does the large screen make it easy to capture images and clearly see the image you are about to take, it is also perfect for the playback of the video feature. With a screen this large, one can preview a video with ease. There is no need to strain the eyes when the LCD screen on your camera is 3.6 inches.
This camera offers many different shooting modes to create just the right picture. Beach, landscape, snow, sunset, etc., are among the many choices and you need to just try each one out to find out which one works best for different situations. I also like the auto- shooting mode. Using this, the Hewlett- Packard Photosmart R937 Digital Camera becomes idiot proof. It will do its best to conform the image electronically, saving the user the time or hassle of seeking out just the right mode. Picture cleanup is also very fast with the Hewlett- Packard Photosmart R937 Digital Camera. The large LCD screen makes it easy to find problems and makes it easy to delete the problems with a touch of the screen.
Is everything perfect with the Hewlett- Packard Photosmart R937 Digital Camera? No, there are a few problem areas. One is the lack of available memory. There is enough space on this camera to handle about 20 to 25 pictures. This isn't much at all, and it won't suffice for even the casual picture taker. This is why memory cards are a must with this camera. Another problem is with the zoom function. It doesn't zoom very wide, and it is also one of the few features of the Hewlett- Packard Photosmart R937 Digital Camera that is not activated by using the touch screen. Another small complaint is the time it takes to transfer pictures from the camera to your pc. The 1.1 USB connection isn't very fast, so you have to be patient as you wait for the pictures to flow from one device to the next.
Perfect or near- perfect digital cameras may exist, but they will likely cost a week's wages or more and are not practical for the casual photographer. The Hewlett- Packard Photosmart R937 Digital Camera isn't perfect, but it does take plenty of great pictures, offers great editing, has a long battery life, and offers a gigantic LCD viewing area of 3.6 inches, all for a relatively low price. It's a winning digital camera in my book, giving you the minimum features you want plus a little bit more without the excessively high price tag common with the more sophisticated cameras.

Great pictures except at night
I really like this camera despite it's flaws. It takes GREAT quality pictures during the day and there are many modes to choose from like beach, close up, portrait, etc. You can also edit your pictures before you upload it to your computer (make a border around the picture, fix blemishes, make a picture softer, crop, etc). It was my first touch screen gadget and I loved that feature, especially with the BIG display screen. The video feature allows you to zoom in while recording....some cameras don't have that feature.
Now on to the drawbacks, it takes bad pictures at night or in low light settings and leaves a bunch of white spots all over your picture. The red eye does not always work. The camera will power off or freeze sometimes. The cover that reveals the lens when you power the camera on or hides the lens when you power the camera off stopped working. Luckily for me, my husband took the camera apart and fixed it. It takes FOREVER to upload pictures from the USB cable and sometimes it took several tries before I could upload all my pics, therefore, I just took the memory card out of the camera, popped it in my laptop, and transferred the pics. It was sooo much faster! The video feature has a very low sound.
I've had my camera since 2007 and plan on keeping it to take pics during the day since it does such a great job but I'm going to buy another camera for night/low light pictures. The camera works well now except that the blue knob that holds the battery broke when I dropped my camera on the floor so I taped it shut.

piece of junk
I bought this camera less than six months ago, (from Best Buy, not in a big hurry to pay a restock fee) and I've already had to replace the battery twice and the charger once.
When it "worked" it was fine, but now HP's customer services answer to the fact the charger isn't charging the new battery is to buy a new battery.
It's ridiculous to have to buy a new battery for every day I use the camera. (which happened when I took it on vacation to Georgia. The battery died in one day.)
My recommendation? DO NOT BUY THIS PIECE OF JUNK. One of my family members works for HP and she recommends the same thing. I wish I would have known before I threw my money away on this item. I am now looking for a new digital camera and a friend has suggested Nikon. (he's a professional photographer, so I'm going to take his recommendation.)
I'm so disappointed in this product and more disappointed in the lack of customer service. Never again will I buy an HP product.

HP R967 Digital Camera
I have a preference for HP Products and had been happy with my original HP photosmart 635 bought Nov-2003. Then, in Nov-2005, I upgraded to an HP photosmart R817 after seeing the awesome photos taken by a tour mate on our African Safari to Kenya, and simply LOVED it and the photos I took with it -- even bought one that Xmas for a gr-niece, who had taken a Photography class and admired mine! Then in Oct-2007, while traveling in Germany, I dropped the camera while touring a monastery in Corvey, and could no longer take outdoor photos... only inside with/without flash!! So, after finding that this version was no longer available, I opted to try the R967, since it was the closest to the 40X total zoom of the R817 and used the same type battery, instead of AAs; R967 has 30X total zoom. I'm still working to get all the features down, but I like it 'almost' as well as the R617!! I can highly recommend it to other amateur photographers!

Better bring your charger!!!
I loved this camera at first. After about a year though, the charge just would not hold. Excellent camera besides that. Just be sure that if you plan on taking more than 10 pictures, have your charger ready to plug back into the wall. Then within minutes, it'll show that it is completely charged again, yet within taking only a few more pictures the red screen will show, "Battery too Low to take Pictures". I think I will get a new camera this Christmas.

There are better buys out there for the money
I've had this camera for about a year now. I like HP products and figured this would be as great as most of their products. I was very disappointed though. I've had to return this camera to HP already because it kept giving me a red screen with an error message. They sent me a new camera for free and so far this one is doing decent. Also, as far as clarity goes, it kinda sucks. I suppose if you have never used a good quality camera then you might be inclined to think this one isn't so bad. But believe me, there are better cameras out there for the money that you would spend on this one. If you can find this camera under $100 then I would say go for it but otherwise I don't reccomend it at all. I have had webcams that take better pictures. Also, if you are having issues with any HP product that you own, you can always call HP and tell them the problem and they will take the product back and send you a new one. I have to admit that HP has really good customer service. I also own an HP laptop and HP printer. I have had to return the printer to HP once and they sent me a new one a few days later for free.

what?
I got on here to read reviews for this camera because I came across one new that I could buy for $80 and wanted to see if I should bother. What baffles me are the people that have written bad reviews for the camera, saying they are on their 5th or 6th one. IF YOU ARE HAVING SUCH TROUBLE WITH THIS CAMERA, WHY DO YOU KEEP GETTING ANOTHER ONE? MOVE ON. And to the lady that said she got on here to sell her R725 then she writes a bad review telling people not to buy it, could you get any denser?

good option for the money
This little compact takes excellent pictures. (i'll be sharing a few within a few days...)
I got mine for christmas last year, and for the most part, have zero complaints. Yes, i have had an error message or two pop up, but i just kept turning it off and on till the message went away. i am now having battery problems which i believe is my own dumb fault for not charging it fully before using it. but they are 5 bucks on here, so...
I will be upgrading to a nikon d40x (dslr) camera here soon, but that will be for my artsy type photos primarily. The hp will still be around holidays, movie premiere nights and the like. Not to mention the great little videos it can do. Be aware that if you zoom during a video, you will be able to hear the lenses moving to focus. Minorly annoying....
In all, a great product for the coin.

Would not recommend
I received this camera for my birthday in March. I exchanged it 2 days later because the battery would not hold a charge. The second one lasted until about 2 weeks ago (so approx. 3 months). This time the camera would turn itself on when it was just sitting on the counter and turn itself off when I tried to take a picture. Very weird. Anyway, I have been trying to return it to Target again, but every Target in my area seems to be out of them. So I have decided that I am going to try something else. I seem to have no luck with HP cameras, the last one I owned (before the R725) just decided to die on the day of my sons 3rd birthday party. I believe the problem with the R725 does not lie with the camera itself, but with the battery. It would be a great camera if the battery would be better.

Good camera!
I received this camera as a gift for Christmas in 2005. I am still using it without any problems to this day. I dropped this camera on cement steps and it still works. This camera takes great pictures, no fuzziness or blurring unless you dont have a steady hand. I have used this tons of times without problems. I even took a photograph with it that won Best Of Show at the local art fair. Battery drain can be bad with any digital camera if you use the screen. If you get name-brand batteries, they will last longer. It mainly depends on whether or not you use the viewing screen to frame the picture. The one problem I did have was when I got impatient and did not let the camera finish saving the picture to the card and tried to take another picture then shut the camera off. It "corrupted" (half of the picture had the film negative look) a few pictures on the memory card. You should let the camera finish saving the picture before trying to take the next one just to be safe.
All in all, I have taken some amazing pictures with this camera and some not so amazing ones (thanks to me) When I have a steady hand or tripod, this camera takes SHARP & CLEAR pictures. 5mp is great for anything up to 8x10
I would recommend the HP M415 to anyone looking for a great Point and Shoot

Final Pictures are screwy - Pixel layout highly distorted
Let me start by saying I'm a huge HP fan. My PC is an old HP, both of my printers are HP (the 820C and the photosmart 7760), and my previous two digital cameras are HP. I can't tell you how disappointed I am with the M415. The pictures look great on the rear display, and even on the thumbnails as the images are being upload, but the horror and disappoint comes when you blow up the image to full screen - the bottom half of the picture is missing! Let's put it this way, it might as well be missing. The bottom half of my pictures look like someone has cut it in half and replaced with a negative (you know, the 35mm film negatives)of part of the bottom half. The real trouble comes in that the problem is not consistant - I can take 20 pictures with no flaws, but the next 50 will be screwed up. I've missed wedding, graduation, vacation, and baby pictures with this camera. Mind you, this is the second camera (the M415) HP has sent me, both with the same problem. HP still insists that they have never heard of the problem before (BTW, tech support is very polite, but very slow. Over 4 phone calls I was on hold 7 hours). The camera is too expensive for me replace after just 4 months - buyer beware.

Super camera for this price
I bought this camera 9 months ago and I've been very happy with it. Picture quality is superb. Never showed blurry pictures unless "shooting without flash in darker places". If you shoot without flash in dark places pictures will be blurry. It is not a flaw. This problem is related to "night shot" ability. You may choose others for more money. Movie quality is medium. Overall this is a perfect choice for leisure purposes.

good for the price
I received this with a missing usb cord and the wrong memory card.Thought to be broken. I was about to give up until I read the manual about its internal memory. It functions fantastic. Be sure to have jumbo maH in the aa rechargables, 5.2 mp is huge. My 1700 maH aa's do very good and it recharges the flash in no time, at least as quick as my a205 fujifilm (same batteries go figure). The extras really are good like "5mp best" and audio with simple vid recording. Great for price, and even better for free. go to hp for the memory module, it seems to be very finnicky even if following hp's guidelines on what this camera will take for external memory cards. This one returned errors even with a correct card, but hp's correct card seems to be the best answer.

Answer:
I guess it depends on what you plan to do with the camera and what kind of pictures you want to take. HP makes pretty decent printers and if you can get a sample shot printed from it prior to purchase depending on your satisfaction with the quality of the print that should be your main decision maker on that scale. Also be aware that if you're going to be say, printing a book a photo printer isn't the best choice because the quality is definitely inferior on that level. As for HP cameras I've never had any personal luck with them. As the previous poster stated HP camera's are 'ok' but for true quality I'd look at another brand. I'm a very big fan of Canons, but Nikons are also solid pieces of machinery, along with the sonys, in terms of reliable picture quality and satisfaction.

Question : my digital camera stopped working!?
Its a hp Hewlett Packard photosmart digital camera with 2x digital zoom.I put brand new batteries in it and even a new memory card. What can i do to fix it? I need Help! QUICK!
Answer:
Check that the batteries are inserted correctly. If it's under warranty, send it in for servicing. If it's not, try removing the batteries and leaving them out for a day or two. If it still doesn't work, toss it. Unfortunately, your cheapie HP won't be worth the cost to fix it, just replace it!

Answer:
see if you can buy the battery door part separately. if not then I would suggest some gaffer tape. and just tape it shut.

I haven't had any trouble with realplayer, mediaplayer or any other program and my digital pictures. I'd have a look for a virus first to see if this is upsetting your system - you'll have to reinstall if there are viruses abd they are removed - then i'd look at control panel, and admintration tools to see if your printer and digital camera are enabled.

Question : what causes many brown lines when I take pictures on my digital camera?
Hewlett Packard digital camera, about 1 1/2 - 2 yrs old. Really a wonderful camera. All of a sudden though every picture I take has darker brown lines running over the complete viewer. Not the battery. Nothing happened to the camera. The lines show up when you view the pictures on your camera and also when you upload them to your computer. Just a constant neatly multi-lined darker streaking over the entire viewer/picture. I haven't printed any pics but, again, lines show up looking at pics on camera and also uploaded to my pc. Any ideas? Doesn't show up under trouble shooting on the HP site and of course I think my warranty is well over. I like the camera so much though (docks to the 4" x 6" HP printer) that I don't want to get a different one if I can fix this one somehow without it costing $3,000,000. Appreciate your time and suggestions/thoughts.
Answer:
Try a camera reset. When a camera does something strange, that's the first place to start.Since the lines show in the files on your computer, it's not the LCD. It might be the card.Take out the card and take a picture using the internal memory. If it works okay, then try formatting the card in the camera. Cleaning the card's contacts is a good idea too, in case there's a little corrosion. If the problem persists you may need a new card.Last option (and least likely), the sensor has developed a fault. It will cost too much to fix.Try typing the model number into Amazon and see if there's a second hand one for sale.
