Who thought this was a good idea?

All I wanted was a camera that could "burn" the date into the picture, like all the ones I've had for the past 10 years. I take a lot of rapid-fire pictures. Some genius at Kodak decided the decision should only be made on a picture-by-picture basis, and to keep the feature on is not a good idea. Hence, it got returned.

Broken out of box

I got this camera after having a Canon for a couple years. The Canon was good but kept complaining that the batteries were dead even if brand new. I also wanted something with more MP and a faster. Anyway, I charged up the Kodak and used it once. The next time I tried it the lens would come out half way and it would tell me something like "Please remove the lens cap"! Of course it has no lens cap which I thought was amusing if not annoying. I let it sit for a day and then tried it again and it seemed fine. Then it did the lens thing again and was stuck in the out position. It also would not even power on anymore. So, I returned it for a refund. Very unimpressed.

Kodak releases a camera when smaller seems better.

I have been spending months looking for a camera with a quality lens that was still pocket size. Most of my prior cameras had Schneider lens and I have been a long time supporter of the Kodak company so the two cameras I finally had to decide between were the z950 and the M580.
I liked the large aperture of these cameras since most people take photos indoors and I couldn't believe you would get the same photo quality on a lens the size of an erasure head. The z950 has a slightly larger lens but it also has a large housing for the camera. it is .4 inches larger in each measurement. In reviews this was a deal-breaker for many other users. I liked the idea of a larger camera but ultimately chose M580.
The time between power up and first shot is quicker. And although I cannot give specifics the burst photography is much more reliable on the M580. The z950 is quicker between photo one and two, but I have found that when you are needing to take a series of photos quickly (i.e. kids are doing something quickly) the photo taken split seconds after the first one contain the same problems as the original picture. The processing screen still shows up after the second photo but it only is there for half of a second before you get the opportunity to click again. The z950 has a 3 second delay. In today's fast paced world that is an eternity.
The last reason I chose the M580 was the button layout. I prefer the zoom buttons on the back of the unit. The dial used in the z950 work better when you have your eye pressed against a view finder. The buttons are more distinct on top of the z950. That being said I have yet to press the wrong button by mistake on the m580.

This camera is amazing

I was hesitant to buy this camera since there seemed to be very few reviews, and of those there were, half were great and the other half were terrible. Well, I am glad that I bought this camera. I am familiar with Kodak cameras, as my last camera was a Kodak Easyshare V1253. This camera is great! The flash is incredibly strong, and pictures taken come out brilliantly lit, and the colors are amazing. I took a simple picture of my kitchen, and I was amazed at how beautiful the picture looked! I didn't even realize my kitchen looked like that! Really though, I haven't found any problems with this camera yet. The video it takes is nice quality, but the camera's sound itself is quite quiet. That's to say that, when reviewing videos taken, it's hard to hear what I videotaped. BUT, I'm sure the sound will be fine once the video will be played on a computer or such. I don't have anything bad to say about this camera. I love the 8x zoom, the wide angle lens... everything. If you are not sure whether to buy this camera, I would say to definitely at least give it a try. I find going to Best Buy and playing with the cameras VERY helpful. You can hold the camera you might end up buying in your own hands, and play with the settings, and see how the general photo quality is. In conclusion, this camera is great!!

Perfect

So, bought this as a graduation gift for a family member because I love my 'now old' kodak easy share and it's effortless to use. The response was it's a great camera that takes awesome pictures... And now I'm jealous because it's a third of the size of mine!

Pleased in Arizona

I bought this camera for my daughter who is a hair stylist. She needed a good inexpensive camera for capturing styles that she creates. We were presently surprised at the picture quality and would recommend this camera if price and quality are what you're looking for.

It does the trick at a great price

Got it as a gift for a family member. Works well battery life is great. The pics are clear from what i can tell. Its no digital SLR by any means but its a lot smaller and easier to pack around.

Captures Life's Special Moments with Ease

This is my 3rd EasyShare. The first was dropped into water and stopped working. The 2nd ended up with a cracked screen (though it still took great pics!). After the last one broke, I thought I'd just look on Amazon or go to Best Buy and get the up-graded model, mine was only a year old afterall. NOPE. Can't stand the new model. The buttons are too close together, hard to navigate, etc. So I started searching high and low online for the old model or just an up-grade or so. Finally found it at *gulp* Wal-mart (where I paid about half of what you see quoted above).

I LOVE this model. Very similar to my last one, but easier to use. The layout is very functional, settings are easy to manipulate, and I get great pics everytime.

Friends have much more expensive cameras and while they're struggling to get them out of their fancy camera cases and change all the settings, I just pull my EasyShare out of my pocket, point, and click. I've captured the moment and they've let it pass.

This is an easy to use camera, great quality, at a reasonable price.

I do have to say, though, that the EasyShare SOFTWARE stinks. I've had it crash several computers and never have gotten it to work. My mil's computer also died after she installed it. You don't need it. I just use either my HP printer software or Windows photo. Don't bother loading the Kodak software.

11 yr. birthday present

I purchased this as a birthday present for my 11 year old niece. Lucky for me she loves the color green. (green was on sale even cheaper) I didn't want to spend too much for it because she's 11, but I wanted something that would take great pictures/movies. She loved it. It was her favorite present. She won't stop taking pictures and now her mom's camera is safe. I can understand why it doesn't come with a memory card, but I think all cameras should come with some kind of case. It bothered me that I had to buy a case from another seller. charging and connecting to the computer are easy-it came with that cord. Using all the settings is a little confusing for her because there are a lot, but she's figuring it out. All in all a good purchase.

Better than expected

I was skeptical as I had seen some negative responses. I took it on a cruise and the pictures are good (not great), it was easy to carry, easy to use and the batteries lasted longer than expected.

lasted only 4 months

Mine only lasted 4 months. while it worked, I was happy with it - especially since I paid only $50 for it at Staples when it was on sale and I used coupons to bring the price down even more . But I certainly expected to get at least a year's worth out of it. I bought it March 23rd and yesterday, July 26th, the batteries were dead, so I put brand new batteries in it. turned it on, took a couple of pics.... in under a minute it blinked low battery, turned off, wouldnt turn back on. replaced the batts again - same thing. and again. and again. I tried 3 different brands/types of batteries. The camera was not dropped, gotten wet , or anything out of the ordinary. I'm very upset :(

Great Camera, Not Very Durable

I bought this camera at a local retailer for around $20 on clearance. It was a perfect companion to my larger Kodak Z8612IS because of it's smaller size. It also took nice pictures. It does eat batteries fairly quickly if you turn it on and off a lot or use the flash frequently, so invest in rechargeable batteries. Zoom is acceptable for a point and shoot, but it doesn't zoom very far. I loved this camera when it was working; the lcd screen was broken on a recent fishing trip when it was squished inside my camera bag which was stuck underneath a car seat being folded forward. The LCD screen is cracked and completely unusable, which makes the camera basically unusable. I'm disappointed that it broke so easily. Be careful with this camera and you'll have a nice camera for a low price.

Question : I got a big Kodak digital camera, and after every photo I take it says?
"processing. . ." and it takes a long time. Why does it do this? My smaller digital kodak camera is quick and doesnt stop to pocess anything. When I'm taking my photography photos I don't like to wait 30 seconds between each snapshot. Can I fix this?

Answer:
Normal advice here - Read the manual. If you do not even know what your camera is then there could be a bit of trouble though. The size of the file will make a difference as will the speed of the card it is dumping to.If your "big Kodak Digital camera" is shooting in RAW format then the files will take longer to dump to the card but it should not be taking 30 seconds even with an old and slow card.Shooting jpegs in a lower resolution will speed things up but you are sacrificing quality for speed. Mind you I doubt you will notice anyway.

Question : Best Kodak Digital Camera, or Digital Cameras in general?
I'm planning on buying a digital camera soon and I was just wondering which Kodak Digital Camera is best. I was also wondering if Kodak is a good Camera brand & if not, Which camera do you consider is good.

Why Kodak? It's not a good brand for "Cameras" believe me.I'd suggest to go through some reviews before you make your decision. My favorite site for this is: www.dpreview.com (You may need to know the basic elements in digital photography to make a good choice)Finally, I'd go for Sony, Canon, Olympus, or Panasonic. Those are the really good ones.Good Luck...
