Great camera

I had this camera since 2004 and still loving it. At 3.1 MP my pictures are crisp and videos that I took with this camera were clear with sound when played on TV/PC. I bought SD/USB card reader and loading content is so easy. As long as I have a spare rechargeable AA batteries or even AA alkalines I won't miss a great shot. I also bought a 2GB sd card and to take as much pictures I want and shoot videos as well. This comes with a viewfinder!! Alot of newer digital cameras don't come with viewfinders ,which make it easier to save the battery life. I was able to enlarge some of my pictures up to 16x20 and the posters/pictures look so crisp and clear. A great buy indeed.

Fantastic Pictures, Fragile Battery Door

This camera takes the best pictures of any digital camera I have ever used! Especially in low light, it leaves the Canon S30, S40, and A510 (the ones I've used) far behind. Another reviewer wrote that it takes better pictures than the Nikon Coolpix, and I can easily believe it.

This camera shines especially well in low-light conditions such as indoors or twilight/sunset shots. Indoor shots without the flash are even better than with the flash, while indoor flash pictures are not over-exposed.

I also love the way the settings show up on the monitor with a brief description of the setting and what it's used for. It makes the camera very easy to use, with no chance of turning the dial to the wrong setting by mistake.

Its one weak point is that the battery door is very fragile, and the catch tends to break, so that the door won't stay closed with batteries in it. This issue is so ubiquitous that it's almost a non-issue: replacement battery doors are inexpensive and very easy to find.

When my battery door broke, I put my camera up for sale to someone who could replace it - after buying another CX6330 that I hope will be as good. If you can repair these little electronic parts yourself or have a good camera shop nearby, it is well worth replacing the occasional battery door (or just being very careful when opening and closing it) in order to take such beautiful pictures!

An Oldie but a Goodie

I have had this camera for several years. It is easy to use, holds a charge for a looong time and takes great pictures. I have dropped it, gotten it wet and let it bounce around in my backpack without a case and it has stood up to all of it without a glitch. I am just now upgrading to a ultra compact. My Mom recently got a bigger fancier digital camera with 12.1 mp and she often says she thinks the old Kodak Easyshare takes better pictures than her new one. I will keep this one around for awhile as I am sure to miss it if I don't!

A STAR IS BORN!

I do not know how other reviewers use this camera, but am inclined to think that their problems are caused by user error. I have had this camera for 4 years now along with the camera dock. I love this camera. I have had no problems at all. Even after it fell off the roof of the car it works like a champ. It is easy to use. compact, not overly complicated. I use the view finder alot as the lcd on any digital camera will use up the battery really fast.I use the lcd only when taking close up shots of items for online selling or outside to capture insects, flowers etc. It charges quickly, holds a charge a long time .I use the KODAK rechargable battery pack and I replace it annually ( it cost me $12.00 a year for the battery ). I have taken hundreds of photos with this camera and it has never failed me. I love the video feature too, you can capture alot of fun times withit. The online Easyshare software is great too and it is free. You can crop, edit, enahnce, frame etc. do just about anything you want to your pics .A really nice camera for a very reasonable price.

Good Basic Camera

Camera is a good basic camera, good to learn how to use digital camera but can not withstand wear and tear. I've had it for two years and the usb port doesn't work. Camera does not zoom well and it lags between pictures. Takes decent video and pictures. Definitely not for the experienced user or the scrapbooker who totes their camera everywhere!!!

this is horrible.

this is a horrible camera. i got it for christmas a few years ago, and it worked fine, but now it has many problems. when i turn it on, the shutter cover doesnt open fully, and i have to slide it back with my finger. earlier today, after charging the batteries for five hours, i turned it on once and it worked okay. but then i tried to turn it on again, and it completely locked up. there is also something that rattles inside it when the batteries are taken out. i am fed up with this camera.

Great camera!

I think this camera is great! For a point & shoot, it is really awesome. The zoom is great, the LCD screen is bright & vibrant, it takes really bright & clear pictures. It's easy to use too. The buttons are a little tiny, but it's not that bad. It has macro & landscape settings on it, which work great. You can change the ISO setting. The camera has a lot of features & functions, I really like it.

Great camera for the price = great value

Kodak from my prior 35mm popup design, and digital 2mb without a zoom lens, has always surprised me with some great quality photos with its lens, in all lighting situations including video options. There has always been a stickler with Kodak digital cameras, and not 35 mm, about its drainage of batteries while the co. was pushing for docking stations for its cameras with some patent issues with other co. However, I think over time, the NiMh batteries that excelled, much like in the Darwinian context, have been able to fill this void with Maxells first, followed by Duracells which doesn't drain in the Kodak cameras over long length of time vs. other rechargeables which only lasted 1-2 days in the camera. Once this problem was fixed after reading the other review suggestions, I'm glad I purchased this camera. The frame is plastic, so lighter, which made me question its durability. However, with its small size, one would always be careful anyway. Its lens is not so fragile as a Canon digital which went black with mere bump that all other digital cameras endure. The shuttle over the zoom lens was a concern when I read someone selling one with that problem, but if you're a photographer who doesn't necessarily depend on a zoom lens for a great shot on an excessive level, than I don't find it to be much of a concern before purchasing this product after comparative research of what else is on the market. With great lens, great durability, with added features including a stereo for videos albeit small, it's great for the value for what you would purchase such a small digi camera for -- it's far superior to anything on a PDA or cell phone, and it fits so well inside any purse or bag, and battery is there to be ready for any shot on any day, which you can't definitely get from a large 35mm or DSLR in a big bag that needs careful shot planning with a tripod. I love the Kodak lens, but have a Canon for professional tripod shots which Kodak will obviously not be able to cover in a small design with options for fast speed, races, and etc., but it does what it does in the top of its product line.

great camera

I bought the Kodak EasyShare C533 as a bundle with the series 3 dock three years ago and have really enjoyed the use of both (wore out my first dock, got a second from e-bay). This 'snapshot' camera takes better pictures than my $$$$.00 Canon SLR print camera. Took both to Africa this past summer and never bothered using the Canon SLR. Used 8 1/2" X 11" photo paper to blow up some photos on my HP printer and they look great. So far I'm still using the rechargable battery that came with the unit and carry 'disposable' (responsibly) batteries on trips as back-up. About batteries, unfortunately, most people do not understand the proper care for different rechargable batteries leading to premature failure. This camera does not appear able to handle more than a 2 gig SD card, but that's OK, I don't do video and cannot imagine a situation where I'd fill this thing up (and I carry a second SD card). Picture recovery time can cause some aggrevation and I am not experienced with other digital cameras (other than a previous dig cam so complicated and frustrating that I gave it away) to evaluate this against other models. Occasionaly the camera doesn't want to turn on and much playing with the on/off switch is necessary to get it up and running. I'm no techy and this camera has served me well with minimum frustration and much satisfaction so it's great with me.

Keeps getting worse

I purchased the Kodak Easyshare CD1013 for Christmas 2009. it was a black Friday sale. When i first started using it the only thing I disliked it the quality of the indoor pictures, the flash doesn't seem to be very strong and pictures seem to turn out a little dark. I had this same problem with a previous Kodak camera I owned and am sure it is just the Kodak brand. It wasn't bad enough to return the camera, it was a good price after all.
I do like the feature that lets you know whether the picture is blurry or not. It has a red, yellow or green hand letting you know. The problem is is that it seems to be harder and harder the older the camera gets to get a green hand. so you are taking the picture again and again and missing some good shots of your kids. On an outing the other day I took it out to take some pictures and when turning it on it would automatically shut off. though I knew the batteries were new I still tried the spare i had with me. it still did the same thing. when getting home I took some new batteries out of a new package, just to make sure and now it will not even turn on for a second. The camera has only lasted 8 months. I'm sure there are lemons in every batch, but I have learned to go with past experience and not buy Kodak again and I get what I pay for.

Great Camera and Easy to Use

I bought this camera to take with me on vacation.
The camera works great and is easy to use.
It has 10.3 mega-pixels and therefore provides great clarity in the pictures and with the video.
The camera only has a 3 times zoom, but works great. If your wanting close up pictures of wildlife, then you need to go to higher end camera. That is to be expected though, because this camera is less expensive, and gives great pictures for the price.
I liked it so much, I bought one for my ten year old daughter so she could get started taking photos. It's easy to use for beginners and also for people who don't need all the high tech gadgets.

Fantastic little point and shoot. Durable. Great bargain.

This is one fantastic point and shoot. For anyone considering buying a pocket-sized camera, I can't reccomend anything much better if you're happy with a 3x zoom and some difficulty in seeing the LCD in bright sunlight. It's very easy to use, and apparently very durable.

The best feature of the CD1013 is the red-yellow-green hand blur warning that shows on each picture. This really helps when you're outdoors in the sun and can't tell or don't have the chance to see how good your shot was. Get a red or yellow hand? Just take another picture -- maybe try to be steadier, change your zoom or focus or consider changing settings -- until you get a green hand. But depending on what you're focusing on, a red-handed picture may end up just fine anyway.

So far, I'm thinking this camera is pretty darn durable. I've been using it outside at work for the last month and a half -- often taking 100 shots a day, sometimes in light rain. I've dropped it several times in a camera case. So far, no major problems! After a few weeks, I liked this camera so much, I found a great deal on another used CD1013 -- but it arrived with so many scratches and a battery/memory card door that doesn't fully close that it looked like it had been in a blender. After getting a partial refund, I gave it to my five-year-old son. The fact it has survived its past and stood up to my son's abuse and still takes great pictures is amazing.

More pros of the CD1013:

-- Takes good videos with great sound; although no speaker so you have to play the video on your PC to hear the sound.
-- Fantastic resolution at the 10.1 megapixels. I usually shoot at 5 MP and still have fantastic pictures.
-- Pretty quick lag time to turning it on and taking the first shot.
-- Been using rechargeable alkaline AA batteries (1800 mAh) and usually get 200 shots or more. Even when you get a low-battery shut-off, opening and closing the battery door and doing so over until the batteries are totally dead can get you another 10-20 shots.
-- Easy and comfortable to use. Zooms in pretty steadily and quickly.
-- Menus and settings very easy to navigate. Handy messages explaining the use of settings pop up on LCD.

Some cons:

-- Sometimes outdoor shots in lower light in auto-flash come out dark for some reason. But turning the flash off usually gives a great picture.
-- Does not remember the flash setting you had previously selected when you turn it back on. But the flash button is right there next to the power button.
-- I have had some occasional moments of "Uh-oh, something's not right." Was sure I had a jammed lens the other day. But turning the camera on and off and maybe popping the battery door has fixed every problem yet.
-- Not the slimmest point-and-shoot you can find, but still fits in even a jeans pocket.
-- Hard to focus easily when using in the close-up macro mode.
-- Every time you change batteries you have to reset the date and time. But it prompts you to do so right away and it's a pretty minor annoyance.

Question : Can i somehow put filters on my tiny kodak digital camera??
I have a small kodak digital camera, it's just plain digital. It doesn't even have a "mm" sized lense. Just a regular digital camera. is there a way to adapt lenses to it? would they be effective if i had to rig up something? or would the become deffective because of the distance between the lens and the filter?

Answer:
what sort of filters do you want to add to it? in this age of digital photography the only useful filter would be a UV filter for protection, any other effects could be replicated in digital editing. If you do want effects without editing, you could get away with holding up a filter to the lens but, really, why? and yes, the further you hold from the lens, the more distortion you will get. but hey, try it. no harm can come...

Question : How can I get a clearer picture on my Kodak digital camera?
I have a P850 Kodak digital camera and I can't get close up pictures ( of flowers, animals etc..) to be very clear. Any suggestions?

Answer:
well if you have the 24-140 lens than your minimum focusing distance is 2.0 - 20.4 inches in macro focusing range according the datasheet online i found for this camera.if you are staying within those limits and have the lens or camera set to macro it should be in focus. if not try using a tripod to keep the camera steady alot of times its you moving and you don't realize it. if not staying within 2.0-20.4 inches of your subject and you need to get further or closer try close up filters wich any decent camera store should sell and carry. or try buying a macro lens which only does macro. lmk if these solutions don't help- i love helping solve camera problems like this.

They burn out super quickly!About rechargable batteries, can you tell me more about them? Like how much they are, how much money the chargers are, etc.? thanks!
