Kodak easyshare C182 blue digital camera

I just ordered my Kodak Easyshare digital camera and it is excellent. I've already taken it out the box, took pictures and is exploring everything it can do. I put the order in a few days ago and it arrived today Thurs. (7/08) already even though I wasn't expecting it until later just as described new, wow. Now that's great and speedy service and I would definitely recommend this camera and the seller to anyone looking for a reasonably inexpensive camera to take and share those special moments.

Good pocket camera

Nice resolution, easy to use, but in sunlight, trying to snap a moving target it's impossibly bad. Without a rangefinder it's very hard to zero in on your object (like butterflies), but it's handy and lightweight. I found that I only got about forty shots out of a set of Duracells so if you're going to be using it very much you'll need re-chargeables.

My Old Canon was Better

Easy to use. Software is fine. The cropping feature is annoying. You have to place your cursor exactly in the corner of the window before cropping to size, otherwise the entire window moves in a direction you don't want it to go. Downloading the pictures is easy, as is taking the pictures with or without the flash.

But we buy cameras for the end results, not ease of use, and this Kodak fails.

My old Canon Powershot A520 with only 4-pixels took better and clearer photos than this 12-pixel Kodak. I don't understand why that is. I expected much sharper images with a higher pixel camera.

If you're on a budget and want a cheap camera that takes okay pictures, this Kodak is for you. Make sure you keep a stash of extra batteries in your pocket. This camera eats them for lunch.

I would not purchase another one. I'll return to the Canon, probably before this Kodak expires.

Great Camera for Older People

MY mother is 81 this year and getting drug into the twentieth century Kickin and screaming. This was ALMOST painless for her to start taking pictures. She Still liked her older 35mm camera better but this is growing on her.

Features Missing

This is the second Kodak Camera I own. The first, which I'm still using, is a C340 Easy Share. While the C182 has more features and Picture quality is great, Kodak Engineers must have been drinking heavily when they designed this one. The left out important features. For example the ability to automatically have a Date Stamp on Pictures. My old camera once you set it to place a Date on each picture that's it. You don't have to change it and every picture will have a date on it until you turn this feature off. With the C182 you have to manually insert the date on each picture. So if you take 500 pictures you have to do this 500 times....How stupid is this.

My old C340 was able to retain the date on the camera even though it had no batteries for weeks and even months. With this new C182 once the batteries are out for a short period of time you have to set the date and time again. Foolish if you ask me.

The pictures are great but so are other cameras. Kodak needs to learn that when they build a new product it should have all the great features of their old products plus some new and improved onces. If I had known that these features were left out I would not have gotten this camera.

Nice camera at a reasonable price

I bought this camera even after reading the previous review. I am very please with the camera. The picture are extremely clear and the camera was easy to set up and use. I needed a camera for a graduation and I will not be disappointed. I am looking forward to creating lots of memories with the camera.

Had to return

It is a cute little camera. But, when I tried to insert a memory card the camera wouldn't accept it. I took out the card from a camera that I was using and it couldn't read that card. So, I bought a Kodak memory card, thinking that the camera was just being picky. The camera still wouldn't read the card. I tried to format the card and the camera wouldn't accept the card.

I contacted Kodak customer service. Was told to take out batteries and memory card and then reinsert after 10 seconds. Didn't work. Told to take card out and reinsert. Didn't work. Was told to try a different card. I informed the CSR that I have already tried several different cards and the camera will not read them. Was told that I needed to send the camera in for repair. Forget that! I'm returning it.

I am disappointed. It does take nice pictures. And I thought having a green camera was cute. I was really looking forward to using it this summer.

outstanding value and quality

It is a great camera, at a great price....cool color, there was a clicking type sound at initial use but I have used for 3 weeks and it has gone away, uses 2 AA batteries.....still on my first set so it does not "eat" batteries. It is easy to remove pictures from camera to computer and pictures are of good quality. I am very happy. I have had other more expensive cameras but this is one is the best buy for me....and it is a KODAK.......

A bad experience

Over all the camera is nicely thought out. The large viewer, easy to use functions and picture quality are great for the money. Unfortunately the camera would 'freeze up', meaning frequently after taking a picture none of the buttons would work. It wouldn't take another picture, you couldnt access the menue, even the on/off button wouldnt respond. the only fix was to open the battery door then close it to 'reboot' the camera. This problem started on day one and after a couple weeks was so problematic I had to return the camera.

Very Good Value for the Money

I bought it. It works well and I like it. I did not have any of the bad experiences of the "one stars".

lots of problems with Kodak C190

To start with, batteries last no time. And when they instantly go dead, the camera doesn't close the lens, it just locks up and takes hours to finally turn the light off. I was afraid to remove the card the first time with the camera in 'on' mode until the light went out, afraid it would erase the existing images to take the card out. Since it happens every time the batteries suddenly die, I finally got up the nerve to open the cover and remove the batteries right away, then the light will go out even though the lens stays extended. I take the card out, put in new batteries, and it will close the lens, then power it off. Then I feel it's safe to reinsert the card. It seems to have a mind of its own on Auto, sometimes it will flash and sometimes not in the same spot, same area, having one good shot and one almost black with major grainy image, not like you can lighten it. Sometimes the flash won't go off in ANY mode, regardless of "flash on" being selected in each. At least 50% of all photos in all modes are too blurry to use, a problem with the auto focus. The C190 did occasionally take wonderful shots that I couldn't ask for better, but were so sporadic I could never depend on it and was honestly surprised when I did get a good shot. Lastly, the paper-thin plastic tab on the battery cover that's expected to hold up against the strong pressure of the spring under the batteries and card just snapped yesterday while the camera was laying on a table. Cover popped open and one battery shot out. Cover can't be replaced by user, must be sent off and the process will take around 3-4 weeks before you can get it back. This is my 3rd Kodak camera to have a problem with the lens cover that made the camera useless (only had this one 6 months) so I'm giving up and moving on to a different brand. Just wish I knew which one I could trust!

Blurry pictures

I too am extremely disappointed in this camera - I bought it from QVC as a Christmas gift for my daughter. The photos whether the subject is still or moving come out blurry and grainy. I also will no longer will purchase Kodak based on name brand trust. I will probably buy a Canon.

I am satisfied

Though I still can't figure out weather there is
no sound on the movie playback at all or it is my
camera that fails this feature

Questions & Answers
Question : How can I get a clearer picture on my Kodak digital camera?
I have a P850 Kodak digital camera and I can't get close up pictures ( of flowers, animals etc..) to be very clear. Any suggestions?

Answer:
well if you have the 24-140 lens than your minimum focusing distance is 2.0 - 20.4 inches in macro focusing range according the datasheet online i found for this camera.if you are staying within those limits and have the lens or camera set to macro it should be in focus. if not try using a tripod to keep the camera steady alot of times its you moving and you don't realize it. if not staying within 2.0-20.4 inches of your subject and you need to get further or closer try close up filters wich any decent camera store should sell and carry. or try buying a macro lens which only does macro. lmk if these solutions don't help- i love helping solve camera problems like this.

Question : Best Kodak Digital Camera, or Digital Cameras in general?
I'm planning on buying a digital camera soon and I was just wondering which Kodak Digital Camera is best. Some of my choices include: Kodak Easyshare V1273, Kodak Easyshare V1073, Or the Kodak Easyshare M883. I was also wondering if Kodak is a good Camera brand & if not, Which camera do you consider is good.

Answer:
Why Kodak? It's not a good brand for "Cameras" believe me.I'd suggest to go through some reviews before you make your decision. My favorite site for this is: www.dpreview.com (You may need to know the basic elements in digital photography to make a good choice)Finally, I'd go for Sony, Canon, Olympus, or Panasonic. Those are the really good ones.Good Luck...

Question : Transfering pictures from Kodak digital camera to Dell Desktop?
I recently reformatted my hard drive. Before I would plug my Kodak digital camera in and then a menu would pop up and I could transfer my pictures from my camera to my Dell Dimenson 3000 desktop. I could also do some minor editing like the darkness and cropping. Now when I plug in the camera, nothing happens. Do I need to reinstall a driver or software. I had whatever was standard/came with the computer. What do I need to get it back to the way it was before I reformatted the computer?I already have the CD that came with camera and tried D/L software from Kodak. Both are the same. I don't like that program, too complicated. I am looking for the program that came with the computer, but not sure what it would be called.

Answer:
If you go to the Kodak website, you can type in the model of the camera that you have and it will give you the option of downloading the updated drivers for your camera as well as the updated "EasyShare" software. No need to look for you CD that came with the camera. You may have to register on the site but it's ad/spy-free anyway and you can opt-out of emails. Hope that helps.

Question : How do you edit Kodak digital camera videos?
I want to edit a video I took on my Kodak easyshare digital camera, but the program that comes with the camera does not allow me to edit the video. Where can i download a free editing program that works with Kodak Easyshare software? Thanks in advance! :)i just want basic editing capabilities: trimming clips, adding titles, fading in and out, maybe some cool transition effects? just any editing that is compatible with easyshare will make me a happy camper. :)i have windows movie maker but the video files are not compatible with the moviemaker program. any idea on how you convert them so they are usable??

Answer:

Question : How do I create a photo and save it on the memory card for Kodak digital camera?
I have a Kodak digital easyshare camera and wanted to edit some photos and then print them at a local Kodak photo machine but am unsure how to load the edited photos back onto the memory card.

Many computers today are equipped with card readers. If your isn't, simply buy one at a store where cameras are sold. They're very reasonable and easy to use.Windows will see your reader as a drive. Then simply copy / paste your files onto the card and you're done.
