Great Camera and Great Service from Vendor

I recieved this product before the promised amount of shipping time and was delighted with the quality of the product, especially for the price. This is a great point and shoot camera and the service from the vendor was excellent.

Its good

I bought this because my family broke my other easyshare. This one has more pixels and the picture is excellent. Got it in 2 days.

easy to use digital camera

I purchased this camera because a friend recommended it, and I find it easy to use, a handy size, and it takes good pictures. It does not eat through batteries very fast either. It's a good camera for a new-to-digital person!

Purchased this camera about a month ago. Works great and takes great pics. We took it on vacation to Cabo with us and the pictures came out amazing! Great deal for the price:)

Wasn't for me...

I didn't like the quality of the photos. I did like its flash features! I bought a Canan A1100S which is great - what a great photo/picture quality.

Great camera for a great price

I usually shoot on a Canon DSLR, but am getting ready for a summer trip and wanted something small to carry in my pocket. I did some research and looked around and after messing with a few cameras in hand, I stumbled upon this kodak and impressive it is. For the price it cant be beat, at 12mp with a nice sleek design and very easy to use the buttons are very user friendly. The layout of the buttons are also user friendly no fumbling around at all. Basically at the size of a credit card it easily stores away in my pocket. It also has a "smart" feature which basically just adjusts everything for you instead of having to mess with settings. Its pretty fast when taking a shot, I was expecting a slow response time, but again have been pretty impressed how fast it actually is for a little point and shoot. The pictures have all been really crisp and gives very vibrant colors. Easy downloads of all photos and its a quick painless transfer. It also has a function to connect to your facebook or flickr account if you have one, which I didnt use, but is convienant regardless. If you looking for something quick easy and fun this is a great deal, if your want something more advanced than look elsewhere.

So many problems out of the box...

Our previous camera died so we bought one of these M530's. My wife liked the Kodak name and has used Kodak before. Unfortunately for us, the camera is problematic and it's not just ours judging by complaints and reviews I've read online now.

On the plus side this camera takes video with sound, in addition to normal photos. There are a variety of menu options and picture types to choose form, though to be honest you're going to take 95% of your pictures in the default "Smart" mode anyways.

It's the problems though that keep it from being a recommendable purchase.

First off, almost as soon as it was out of the box the LCD screen has a tendency to go white after it's been on once. If you turn it on, take some pictures, turn it back off, then on again a few minutes later the LCD display will ALWAYS go white, no exceptions. You can still take pictures, but can't possibly see what it is you're taking of course. I've read online this is sometimes due to a loose wire internally, but find it hard to believe it's a loose wire because it always happens after it's been on once already then magically disappears if you leave it off for 10 minutes or so. This is a huge problem because nobody leaves their camera one for an extended period of time, and judging by reviews is not unique to this specific model but is a problem with many, many different Kodak cameras. I don't know or care what the reasoning or excuse is, but this kind of problem is not acceptable out of the box.

Secondly, the camera takes a rather large amount of light in order to take pictures. My kids have fairly cheap cameras that require less light to take a simple picture. I don't know what the problem is with the M530's light filter, but for a company like Kodak this kind of problem really isn't acceptable either.

Lastly, to do something as simple as add a date and time stamp to your photos is not possible without going in and selecting each photo individually and then adding the stamp. This is just plain dumb. An option to turn On and Off automatic stamping is all that's needed here, and as it stands this way stamping your photos will not be an option unless you just have loads and loads of free time to waste by adding them individually.

Overall, my verdict is to stay away from this camera. The problems aren't minor, but are medium to major and it's just not a good value. Quite frankly Kodak seems to have the same problems with various camera models and lines, so perhaps staying away from Kodak altogether is your best bet. You'd think a company like Kodak would be able to put out a better product than this.

Customer Review :

Not worth it.

I bought this camera to replace an older Casio Exilim that only has 5MP and a 3X zoom. I love to take basic scenic photos and photos of my pets. I'm not a photographer so I just want something basic. My old Casio always did an excellent job but I wanted more MP to be able to print slightly larger photos. I went with this because I liked the feature of being able to send the pictures straight to my Facebook and Flickr accounts. Not only does this camera not take nearly as good of quality photos, but I found it extremely difficult to upload to Facebook and Flickr. I live near an excellent view of Mt. Rainier and I spent about 25 minutes at one point trying to get a nice photo with it in the background. My Casio ALWAYS got Mt. Rainier to show up in the background instantly. I finally got frustrated and took the photo with my cellphone and it showed up on my cellphone just fine. But when I took the photo with this it couldn't do it. Then when I wanted to upload I had to manually go in and select every photo individually to upload to Facebook and Flickr. Then, it still didn't upload them! I ended up having to just upload them to my computer and manually do it. I can do that with any camera! I wasn't looking for a fancy camera going into this. Just something simple to take cute pictures to show off to my friends. So I returned it and will be upgrading my Casio, I should have just stayed loyal to them to start with. I have had 2 Exilim cameras so far, I began purchasing them back when I worked at Radioshack when they were brand new about 8 years ago and have loved them ever since! My original still works great as well as my second one that I purchased about 6 years ago. I will be sticking with them from now on for simple point-and-shoot cameras for sure!

Customer Review :

Z981 zoom passes the test

I bought the Z981 specifically to use on vacation trips to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area, (BWCA), on the Minnesota-Ontario border. The Z-981 worked great.

The only problem was trying to use the maximum zoom while floating in a canoe, a problem unique to the BWCA, The geometry of a bouncing canoe and the maximum zoom makes it difficult to focus on something like an eagles nest located a half-mile away. Its a great problem to have!

The feature I enjoyed most, once I figured out how to match up photos was the panoramic setting. Some great wide-angle shots.

Kodak Z981 Great Camera for the Price!!!!!

The camera takes pictures way beyond my usage, the panoramic option is really cool because it stitches the pics together and you cannot tell where one starts and one ends. All you do is kinda line up the last pic with the next (just somewhere close) pic and its done. Anyway, great camera for the price!!!!

NO GOOD

I HAVE ALWAYS BOUGHT KODAK BRANDS AND NEVER HAD PROBLEMS UNTIL I BOUGHT THIS CAMRA. IT STARTED OUT FINE BUT WITHIN A MONTH I STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS, THE PICTURES WERE COMING OUT BLURRY, GRAINY AND SOMETIMES ONLY HALF OF A PICTURE CAME OUT. THE PICS WERE NO GOOD. ALSO WHEN YOU USE THE ZOOM FEATURE THE CAMRA JUST SHUTS OFF. DO NOT BUY THIS CAMRA. I AM VERY DISSAPOINTED WITH KODAK PRODUCTS!

Interesting Title

Not really much to say.

Without breaking it down for eight hours, it is a good pocked camera.

Though I did lose mine, I will be buying another as soon as I get a few extra dollars.

Wonderful!

Takes great pictures, so many settings, and choices, but also has a smart capture that takes great pictures regardless.

Find Another Camera

I biggest problem I had with this camera was the blur in half the pictures that I took, whether I was inside or outside. When the picture came out nice, I was happy with the quality. But over half of them didn't, and for the time that I've had this camera and the pictures that I took of my kids, most of the pictures are garbage and worthless. I sold a perfectly working Canon to get this camera. I have now returned the camera due to Beach Camera Nice Return Policy and have chosen to pay a little bit more and keep the better camera. Another issue was that the Date Stamp feature that Kodak uses only works on an individual basis. You have to Date Stamp each picture, instead of it automatically doing it for you. The last thing I noticed was when I put the pictures on my computer, my program won't allow me to remove the red eye from the photos. Kodak may be a name brand, but STAY AWAY FROM THIS CAMERA. I warned you.

Questions & Answers
Question : Is there a way to restore pictures saved to the internal memory of my Kodak digital camera?
My digital camera is a Kodak EasyShare CX7430. I had some pictures on the internal memory and they got erased, and unfortunately it seems I cannot restore them. When I hook the camera up to my computer, it recognizes it as a device, not removable media. I would be willing to do anything, as I am also going to contact Kodak. Since the camera doesn't work anymore anyway, I would also be willing to take the camera apart. Please help me! I have tried numerous programs and so far nothing works. Thank you!

Answer:
I've looked and looked, and I haven't seen any way of recovering photos from internal memory. With a media card, you are able to mount the card as a drive and search it for missing files. With internal memory, there's no way for any recovery program to access the memory, since it is accessed by the camera's proprietary software interface. Here's the support page for your camera.http://www.kodak.com/global/en/service/products/ekn027989.jhtml?pq-path=1931You should be able to find the tech support contact info there. Hopefully they will have a better answer than mine.

Question : Best Kodak Digital Camera, or Digital Cameras in general?
I'm planning on buying a digital camera soon and I was just wondering which Kodak Digital Camera is best. Some of my choices include: Kodak Easyshare V1273, Kodak Easyshare V1073, Or the Kodak Easyshare M883. I was also wondering if Kodak is a good Camera brand & if not, Which camera do you consider is good.

Answer:
Why Kodak? It's not a good brand for "Cameras" believe me.I'd suggest to go through some reviews before you make your decision. My favorite site for this is: www.dpreview.com (You may need to know the basic elements in digital photography to make a good choice)Finally, I'd go for Sony, Canon, Olympus, or Panasonic. Those are the really good ones.Good Luck...

Question : Can i somehow put filters on my tiny kodak digital camera??
I have a small kodak digital camera, it's just plain digital. It doesn't even have a "mm" sized lense. Just a regular digital camera. is there a way to adapt lenses to it? would they be effective if i had to rig up something? or would the become deffective because of the distance between the lens and the filter?

Answer:
what sort of filters do you want to add to it? in this age of digital photography the only useful filter would be a UV filter for protection, any other effects could be replicated in digital editing. If you do want effects without editing, you could get away with holding up a filter to the lens but, really, why? and yes, the further you hold from the lens, the more distortion you will get. but hey, try it. no harm can come...

Question : Is Kodak digital camera battery Lithium CRV3 3V rechargeable?
I had a new Kodak Z8612 digital camera. I introduce in it the CRV3 battery that I had get with the camera. I made about 10 -20 pictures and a few films in about 5 days. And then the battery stop working. Is it rechargeable? Should I buy a battery charger?

Answer:
No. This battery is not rechargeable. The recommended battery for your camera is the KLIC-8000 Li-Ion Rechargeable Battery. Try the KODAK Li-Ion Rapid Battery Charger K8500 Bundle with Item # 8018566 that costs $44.95. This item includes a charger and a klic 8000 rechargeable battery. Question : How can I get a clearer picture on my Kodak digital camera?
I have a P850 Kodak digital camera and I can't get close up pictures ( of flowers, animals etc..) to be very clear. Any suggestions?

Answer:
well if you have the 24-140 lens than your minimum focusing distance is 2.0 - 20.4 inches in macro focusing range according the datasheet online i found for this camera.if you are staying within those limits and have the lens or camera set to macro it should be in focus. if not try using a tripod to keep the camera steady alot of times its you moving and you don't realize it. if not staying within 2.0-20.4 inches of your subject and you need to get further or closer try close up filters wich any decent camera store should sell and carry. or try buying a macro lens which only does macro. lmk if these solutions don't help- i love helping solve camera problems like this.

Question : Can a Kodak digital camera record footage from a TV?
I want to plug my Kodak camera into my TV so it can record video game footage. Does anyone know if this works? If anyone has done this before please assist me! I appreciate it!

It might. You might have better results if you just buy a video capture card for your computer. It will be a lot cheaper too.

Question : how long can you record on kodak digital camera?
when i record on my digital kodak camera i can only record for 22 secs and i want to record for more longer can someone please help me .

Answer:
It depends on your camera model and your memory card.22 seconds is so short, you must be recording to the internal memory. The M1063 (for example) quotes a maximum of 80 minutes depending on card.
