Customer Review :
Incredible camera, incredibly inept warranty service! They broke my camera!
The X50 is the ultra ultracompact! But mine had a very common problem. After weeks of normal use and NO DROPPING the LCD got stuck in the ultra high contrast mode! You can see "ghosts" on the screen when you turn it a certain way and you can read some of the menu items. I even used the included A/V cable to see the menus on my TV and adjust the contrast - no luck. So I did the online customer service request for a warranty repair and received the RMA. There was NO DAMAGE to the LCD, it just wouldn't display properly. My X50 still took wonderful pictures, I would just use the button to turn off the barely-functioning display. There were no other problems with my camera. Weeks later I was told by Sony/Konica/Minolta service that my camera (just a few weeks old) suffered from corruption and that they would CHARGE ME for the covered repair. I didn't pay, they sent it back totally BROKEN. No power, no pics, & no recourse for me. They refu$e to return it to the working condition it was in. THEY are CORRUPT!

6 Months and Screen Already Broken
I bought this camera and within 6 months the screen broke. I would not recommend buying this camera, the company does not have a warranty and there is nothing to do once it is broken.

Good camera, after two years autofocus fails, but fixable
In case your autofocus stops working (which mine did after attempting to zoom). Power cycling, reseting to factory default, lens cleaning did not help, but after several zoom outs and ins, the autofocus came back. Apparently, the zoom mechanicism some how interfered with the autofocus. Typically, I do not use the zoom feature and will avoid it in the future. Otherwise, for 2+ years, this has been a very good camera.

Konica Minolta DiMage ultra compact digital zoom camera
I have found this camera to be one of the very best of its type. The operating system is ultra quick, fastest of any digital camera I have ever seen so you can grab that quick picture you might otherwise miss. The pictures are ultra sharp and can easily be enlarged to 11X14. The zoom feature is easy to use and there are more features then most people could ever use. The rechargeable battery lasts a very long time even when heavly using the flash. An added bonus is it has a real viewfinder that makes it easy to use in bright sun. It is easily pocketable, pants or shirt. Its one weakness is the viewscreen, which can be easily broken if the camera is accidently dropped on its edge. The camera is tough enough to keep working, but you'll have to wait to down load your SD card onto your computer to view your shots if you were unluckly enough to break the screen. In general, this is a tough little camera. Too bad Konica Minolta got out of the camera business and too bad Kodak or some other company didn't pick up this model or the X60 and continue manufacturing it. It would take a digital SLR to take better quality pictures.

Great little camera.....fits in my purse. I love the fact that it has a rechargeable battery as I bought a second one so I am always ready!!! The battery holds a charge a long time. Good pictures and I find the camera easy to use.It has quite a zoom feature too. It has many features that I should use but I have not taken the time to learn about.

Fantastic camera!
I bought this camera in 2004 and have used it extensively. I have taken it to Kamchatka, to Egypt, and many places in the US. This camera is capable of taking amazing pictures, easily and consistently. It works great, is easy to carry, and comfortable to use. Four years later, it's still my favorite camera to use when I want that 'special shot'. I wish Konica Minolta was still in business!

I love this camera!!!
I have had this camera for almost 5 years. I have taken literally thousands of pictures with it and have never had a problem. I got it shortly after my son was born and have since used it to capture and freeze moments of his life. I take pictures almost on a daily basis not only of my family but also of nature and pretty much anything else that looks interesting. By no means am I a professional but in my opinion for a 5 yr old 4mp camera it still takes the sharpest most vibrant pictures. My mom recently bought my dream camera for herself and after using her camera then going back to my little minolta I still prefer my minolta.

Konica Minolta out of camera business
After 2 1/2 years my Z2 camera stopped working. When I turn it on the shutter makes a noise and the memory light comes on and stays on. The lens does not extend. I went to the KM website only to find the company no longer makes cameras and Sony has taken the responsibility for repairs. Sony charges a flat rate of $181 to work on the camera, plus parts, and we pay the shipping to get it there. There is an internal battery in the camera but only the mfg can replace it. Will that cost me the flat rate +? Will replacing the battery fix my problem?

Great Camera
Pros: * Uses AA batteries and can take nearly 250 pictures without a flash on newly charged batteries. * Outstanding picture clarity outdoors. * Incredible pictures at night when set on a tripod or flat surface and using the timer. Can set shutter to stay open up to 15 seconds. Only Z2 & Z3 allow that -- later models only allow about 5 seconds. * 10x zoom is awesome, and takes great pictures outdoors even when hand held without antishake technology. * Hot shoe for adding a flash. * Extremely easy to use. My 7 y/o takes great pictures and movies with it, can download and adjust to sepia or b/w all by himself. * Camera is full of features: ISO 50-400, movies up to 800x600, night movie mode, auto or manual white balance, no special software or equipment needed to get pictures off camera, hook up to computer or tv for slideshow, 2 macro modes, multiple flash settings, burst mode, timer, sepia/b&w/vivid color/natural color modes, sharpnes & contrast controls, able to use additional lenses, etc. * More rugged than it feels. It's our family camera -- used by little kids and adults. We've taken tens of thousands of pictures with it in all kinds of lighting and weather -- it's been dropped countless times -- and it still works faithfully taking great pictures. * Uses SD cards.
Cons: * When adjusting the zoom while taking a movie you hear the camera motor on the sound of the movie. * No anti-shake technology. Available in the Z3 and up. * Taking pictures indoors, in normal low light is a challenge sometimes.
I love this camera and am going to buy another Konica Minolta -- probably Z3.

Great Digital Camera: Lightweight & High Quality
The Konica Minolta DiMage camera is one of the best consumer cameras on the market. My fiance and I have this digital camera and have taken thousands of photos with it and have been very satisfied with the camera.
We love taking pictures, especially of beautiful scenery from our travels. We often post our photos online for family and friends and consistently receive compliments on the quality and color depth of the pictures. You can see some of our travel photos and judge for yourself at GoSightsee.com.
The camera is very lightweight, making it easy to carry in a purse or pocket. We recommend getting a carrying case that clips onto your belt or pants to protect the preview screen from getting scratched. This is the one that we like: Konica Minolta Deluxe Case for Dimage X, Xi, XG, X31, X50 & X60 Digital Cameras The camera case is black and has a magnetic button clasp. You can carry an extra memory card in it as well. It's worth the few extra dollars to keep your camera in good condition for years to come.
The Konica Minolta DiMage camera is very small and sleek and looks cool. People even ask us about our camera while we're taking pictures! The preview screen is large compared to the size of the camera. We also liked that it came with a rechargeable battery (which charges fully in about an hour).
I highly recommend this digital camera!

Great small compact camera
I love this camera. My wife had the x50 and unfortunately I lost it while in a trip to DR. So I decided to buy another Minolta but this time upgraded to the x60 and its even better than my x50. The picture seems to be a little brighter and not as dark as the x50. But the camera is sexy and functional. I love the fact it can slip in my pocket and never be seen. But its also the reason I lost my first one because it is so small. But if you want a compact high quality digital camera, then the minolta x60 is for you.

Rock solid Digi Cam
I have had this camera for over a year now and it still does a ok job. Its very durable as I dropped it onto solid tile floor twice , several times onto the street and all that happened was the battery flew out.The Batt cover does open very easy under normal condition anyway. Barely a dent or scratch. Overall it does a great job taking pictures for the average person. However you do at times see a purple line on the LCD when taking pictures under lots of sunlight. Red eye is also seen in my pictures using the flash at night. Taking video is not the best but does the job. The price is way more now than what I paid back in 2006-$299.00. So maybe the value has gone up?? This Camera would be better priced at the $150 range.

Point and shoot at its purest
After some researched, I brought the Kinica Minolta X60 to served as my backup to my Canon S2 IS. X60 is a small, slim and lightweight camera that is perfect for a quick photo almost anywhere because you can stick this camera almost anywhere on you.
This camera is almost a purest high quality point and shoot camera you can buy with your money. Everything on it is on automatic modes of one sort or another. There are nine modes including the automatic which actually decide which mode is best for the photo. Most of the modes can be found in most digital cameras like "sports" or "landscape". A child can take a good shot with this camera and it is near perfect for any beginner who walk into the digital camera age with their eyes shut.
There are few small things you can do to adjust and adapt your camera each shot. White balance can be adjusted, ISO from 50-400 can be adjusted, drive mode can be adjusted and other minor features that this camera come packed with. There is even an "anti-shake" indictor if your shutter speed is too slow and your hand is shaking too much. Use a tripod says the computer. The camera also come with a movie mode which is pretty basic as well.
The housing of this camera appears to be hard plastic with a metal feel. It seem to be well built. The large 2.5 inch LCD screen seem to be most vulnerable to damage and this may be the camera's only physical weak link. Proper care and attention would be needed, a good camera case for example is a must. The large 2.5 LCD is very nice. But remembered that it serves as your viewscreen for all your shooting. The controls are bit on the small sizes. There is no way you can handled the controls of this camera with gloves for example. People with long fingernails will have an easier time then people without.
The camera unfortunately, is not powered by AA batteries but by NP-700 ion battery. It got a decent life to it but I would encourage anyone buying this camera to buy couple more for back up. Buy it from a third party since Minolta overcharged for their NP-700 outragously. On the other side, X60 uses SD cards for its storage.
The software that come with your camera is pretty decent sort. Some people will used it and others will not. It pretty subjective.
Overall, this is a very good camera that should meet the needs of most point and shoot crowds. The small size and weight allowed it be taken almost anywhere. Only danger to that is that you might even forget that you have it with you. The camera appears to be very reliable, somewhat rugged and shoot well. This is a computer driven camera and basically all you have to worry about is point and shoot!

Do NOT buy this camera used
After my first beloved Minolta Dimage X Camera was accidentally lost last year, I really wished to have another, as this camera took some of the best, clear, and beautiful pictures of any digital camera I had ever used or seen. I also never had a problem with it, so I looked for and purchased not one, but two used Minolta Dimage X cameras from two different Amazon sellers. The first camera's shutter button jammed after around 100 pictures were taken and no longer works. The second camera took nothing from day one but foggy, blurred pictures whenever the zoom lens was even slightly adjusted, and the only clear pictures were those that did not utilize the zoom option. And again, after taking only 125 pictures on the second camera the shutter button fell off and it also no longer works. I'm out over $150.00 with two busted cameras and would not advise anyone to buy this camera used. I give this camera and my Amazon shopping experience "zero" stars.

A small fun camera- - great features
I have had this camera for about three years, an it is a great machine. It is small, light weight, and it takes o.k. pictures. When I bought it, it only held 12 picture, (I don't know why)but I recently bought a new memory card, and it is great. You can make voice recordings, and take small video clips (35 seconds). The battery life is ok, but not what I would have wanted. Overall, this camera is a great digital camera.

Cheap plastic battery door - $181
Cute size encourages leisure use, but beware of the fragility of this camera. I dropped it and broke the cheap plastic battery cover and the tiny plastic battery hold-down tab. Minolta wanted $181 to replace. Seems like a rip-off since these are simple plastic parts and are easily accessible. Poor service.

I lost it
I bought this when I was mobilized for OIF. I kept it in the pocket of my blouse the whole time, shooting pictures every where I went. Great shots, plenty of storage space. I never felt the need to use max resolution. Unfortuantely I lost it last week and am shopping for a replacement. I'm checking out the X31 and X50 which cost less than this one was.

Can I rate this Negative 50?
This camera is terrible. The camera takes forever to start up. If you see something good and want to capture it on camera quickly....well just forget it. If you do happen to catch the image just a fair warning it will 90% of the time be so blurry you won't see it anyhow. If you like the way it looks when you pull it from your pocket ok just remember that it may look nice, but really really sucks. Buy something, anything but this camera.

Amazing Product
I got this camera as a present a year ago, and dropped it in the ocean when I was on vacation...:( I bought an other camera, but the picture quality didn't live up to the standards set by the Dimage X1. So, I did a lot a research trying to find the Dimage X1 again. This is the most amazing camera ever -- to bad it's not in production any more. Picture quality is great. The anti-shake feature help to take the most amazing pictures. By far THE best digital camera I've owned.

Good For 3 Years
I purchased this camera from London in 2005. It still working without issue, but its outdated now..take lot of time to save picture even in small size of pic.
It has got GREAT ANIT SHAKE Tech...but night vision is poor.
Charging dock is great and still working after 3 years....no issue yet.
But I would say, not to buy it as there are plenty of better cameras in market now...

Not as good as the Dimage X50, Brand New?
This camera model does not have the fast action picture taking ability as the Diamge X50 model. The camera can has a very slow reaction time.
I also question whether the camera was brand new???? Amazon claime it would be, but it was missing the bag case and the SD card that the box said it should contain.

STUNNING quality
Okay, I'd purchased this camera TWO years ago, and I'm still thrown by it's picture quality! Majority of my friends own Sony digital cameras, yet it doesn't come close to Konica Minolta Dimage X1! I constantly get compliments on my photo's, often everyone would ask if it's a professional DSLR camera that I'm using to get such wonderful quality! Though, I honestly have to agree that the shutter speed is one of the main disadvantages, along with some of the features and especially the bulky size & weight. Overall, I've been extremely happy with this product regardless of other's opinion, and I'm actually afraid of replacing it now that I'm so attached!!! Picture quality is stunning after TWO years!

Questions & Answers
Question : My old flashes don't fire with my digital camera, why?
I own a Konica/Minolta Maxxum 7D digital camera and have two older flash units. A Metz 60CT1 and a Metz 32 Z1. I've used these flash units with my film cameras for years with no problems and would like to use them with my digital camera. The problem I'm having is the digital camera won't fire the flash units. Why?
Answer:
Look at the contacts on your camera and compare them to the ones on the old flash units.Be sure the trigger voltage is not too high .. it could fry your cameras electronics. Usually a flash with less than 12v trigger voltage (except Canon .. 6v for them) is safe. Your 60CT1 has a trigger voltage of 20.89V and the 32 Z1 3.46VHere is what I found on the Internet:"But, not so nice is the fact that Minolta's hot shoe is non-standard. In other words you not only can't attach a non-Minolta flash, but you also can't use other accessories (such as bubble levels) that mount on a camera's hot shoe. The Minolta hot-shoe design is indeed superior to a standard one, but it's a real pain not to be able to use accessories, or a less expensive flash unit."I guess this is the answer

Question : What non-SLR Digital mega-zoom camera has the biggest Image Sensor?
I'm wanting a new Digital Camera with at least 12x optical zoom with the largest image sensor possible. My current (Konica-Minolta Z3) has a 1/2.5" sensor but I'd like one with at least 4/3 if not full-frame. Do they make any with a sensor this large or are sensors this large reserved only for SLR's?
Answer:
The only bridge camera that I remember with a large sensor is the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-R1. The Cyber-shot R1 has a 10.3 megapixel APS-C sensor and a fixed 5x zoom lens.http://www.dcresource.com/reviews/sony/dsc_r1-review/index.shtmlIt was an ambitious product that, unfortunately, failed to meet expectations. Sony never released anything like the R1 again and it has since discontinued its R-line.The only fixed-lens compacts with a large sensor are the Sigma DP1 and the upcoming DP2. Both the DP1 and DP2 have wide-angle prime lenses. You may want to wait for Olympus' Micro Four Thirds camera. Micro Four Thirds cameras use the 4/3 sensor and utilize interchangeable lenses. Panasonic has already released their first m4/3 product, the G1, which is no larger than its FZ-series ultrazooms.

You can probably use a cable you already have. I lost the cable to my Palm Tungsten 2. It has a USB connector on one end and a mini firewire on the other. I tried using a cable from my external DVD burner, and it worked perfectly.

Question : What is a good digital camera that DOES NOT...?
give a blur, look unsharp,or take forever to take...I bought a 700 dollar digital camera and it sucks, I mostly take pics of my kids, but when I try to get a pic it is always blurry!!!My old camera was konica minolta that took great pics, but its no longer working and we all know what happened to konica...I need a good camera! Help.
Answer:
I think the main problem would be that your cameras lag time to take the picture the instance you press the shutter button is the Culprit to your unsharp, blury pictures. Because it would not take the picture unless your camera see's the subject in focus. Or that there was not enough light to give your photo the correct hand holdable exposure. Setting up your camera to a higher ISO might do the trick, but beware of the noise. Try some of these alternatives. If you want to salvage what you already have this is what I would do. For about $20 bucks you could get a wireless flash booster. Set your camera to manual. Set the shutter speed between 1/60th to 1/25 sec. Set your aperture to f 8. Set your camera flash to its lowest setting. Set the flash booster so that its trigger sensor sees the camera flash go off. Then this would give you great pictures of your kids. This would also alow for placment of the flash way above the camera lense to eliminate red eye. And add that natural lighting effect. On a budget and want a camera that would last a very long time:If you want a camera that could track your subjects movements and take the picure while still in focus. I would get the Nikon D40 ($600).Available in December. Very light easy to use digital SLR. Cons would be that its a bit on the big side. Most kids would be aware that they are being photographed and most shots would be mostly posed. Unless you invest in a longer telephoto lens like the 70-200 f2.8 AF VR. On a budget and want a camera that would last a very long time (pocket size): I would get the Canon SD900 ($425). Titanium shell will last for years. Image Stabilizer to take crisp hand holdable shots. Cons would only be that it has a small 3x optical zoom which would mean that you would have to be pretty close to take a great quality picture. Not too big, not too limited lens, not too expensive, not bad camera:Olympus SP-510 ($260) Fast response time, long 10x zoom lens and online support on how to take better pictures. This camera design was invented by Olympus. It was such a nice design that other manufactures such as Minolta and Kodak. None of them perfected it except Olympus. With rubber gromets around the lense and battery door. It keeps the dust out. And a digital image stabilizer to help keep the subject in focus. And its 10x optical zoom to capture candid shots of your kids in the moment.Distraction:Keep your kids from moving too much by giving them a toy that will allow them to take pictures as well. Give them a kid proof digital camera and watch them take pictures of you and what they think are picture worthy. Then take the digital camera you have now and take pictures of them. And if money is no object:I would get a Nikon D2XS ($4,700). Camera capable of taking pictures only when in focus. Not only that, you could set up the camera to take pictures when a subject crosses a predetermined focusing zone that you have set up. For example if you set the camera to take the shot when someone crosses 15 feet away and is in focus, the camera will not take the shot if the the subject is 14 feet and not in foucus. It will only take the shot if the subject gets to the 15 feet focused zone. Great camera if your kid happens to run as fast as that little boy in the movie "The Incredibles". I know that this might be overkill, but I just love cameras. Hope this helps.

Answer:
You got a bad one. Someone sold you their junk. This is a VERY old camera (over six years old) and uses a memory card that is no longer made.Try to get your money back ... I hope you didn't pay more than about $15 including shipping. You can try calling the Sony help line 800.222.SONY and see what they say, but I am afraid you have been had.Look here for a good, inexpensive P&S camera and avoid buying on eBay.http://www.dpreview.com

Question : Why my 2GB SD card no longer works in my digital camera?
I have a Konica Minolta digital camera. My 2GB sd card which is probably about 6 months old, used to work in my camera, but now it just says "Unable to use card." BUT the card still works on other card readers, such as my printer. And no, the disk lock is not on.I tried another 2GB card in my camera, and it works fine. Why can't my camera read that SD card? Does anyone have any insightful answers or solutions to my problem?
Answer:
format the card in the camera
