Editorial Review :

Like the very popular Dimage Xi, the Minolta Dimage Xt is a 3.2 megapixel camera, but with more versatile features and packaged in an even smaller body. The new design eliminates more than 5 percent from the size and nearly 8 percent from the weight of the Dimage Xi. The exclusive folded optical zoom system allowed Minolta to recreate the world's thinnest (as of April 2003) compact, planar digital camera with a 3x optical zoom.

Optics and Resolution
Minolta's folded optics provides a 3x
optical zoom within its slim design.
Featuring a 3.2-megapixel CCD sensor, the Dimage E223 delivers image detail up to 2048 x 1536 pixels for print enlargements up to 11 x 14 inches. This revolutionary non-extending lens is responsible for maintaining the camera's 0.8-inch thin profile either while recording or when stored. The 3x optical zoom, equivalent to a 37-111mm lens on a 35mm camera, is assisted by a 4x digital zoom giving a seamless zoom range of 12x. The lens focuses down to 5.9 inches at all focal lengths for close-up photographs without having to use a separate function.

Storage and Transfer
Images can be stored on either Secure Digital (SD) or MultiMedia (MMC) memory cards; a 16 MB SD card is included. Download image files to either a Mac or PC via USB connectivity, including any USB-based Windows Me/2000/XP and Mac OS 8.6 or later computer without installing any software.

Movie and Audio Modes
The Dimage Xt is not limited to recording still images. Video with audio can be captured at either 160 x 120 or 320 x 240 pixel resolution. The length of movie clips is only limited by the memory card capacity. The new Direct Video function allows the camera to be connected directly to a VHS or DVD recording deck.

The Dimage Xt can be used as a remote camera for video conferencing. Simply use the supplied USB cable to connect the camera to a computer with a Windows operating system and a compatible application such as Microsoft Windows Messenger.

The audio recording mode records up to 180 minutes of audio. Voice memo allows up to 15 seconds of audio to be attached to an image when it is captured. The audio-caption function can attach an audio track to any recorded still-image. The audio tracks can be played back in the camera.

The included base serves as both
a recharging station and camera stand.
More Features
The Dimage Xt is a fast, responsive camera. It is ready to use approximately 1.1 seconds after turning it on. This is the fastest start-up time of any digital camera with an optical zoom (as of April 2003). The fluid playback performance only causes a slight 0.2 second delay between frames regardless of file size.

An improved e-mail copy function allows a still image to be copied and resized to 640 x 480 or 160 x 120 pixels so that it may be attached to an e-mail message or posted on the Internet.

The Dimage Xt's charger stand can recharge the battery while it is still in the camera. It can also charge a single spare battery by itself. The charger doubles as a camera stand for when the Dimage Xt is used for self-portraits, a remote camera, or when connected to a computer.

  • Exposure control from 4 seconds for scenes at night to 1/1000th of a second for brilliant sunlit landscapes
Power, Size, and Contents

Questions & Answers
Question : I have a konica minolta dimage x20 digital camera.?
Is there any way to turn of the noises it makes when you take pictures, delete pictures, etc.?It's really annoying. Thanks in advance.

Answer:
You can download the camera's manual from here:http://ca.konicaminolta.com/support/manuals/digital_cameras/dimage-x/dimage_x20/D_X20_E.pdfThe sound effects can be turned off in section 2 of the setup menu (p.82)

Question : Memory card for digital camera?
Hi - I'm looking for a memory card for my Konica Minolta Dimage Z3 digital camera. I currently have a 128MB SanDisk card in it right now, and have failed to find anything else that is compatable with my camera. I am shooting a wedding in less than 2 months and I need a memory card with at least 1GB. I have no idea where to begin and this has already been a hassle trying to find a card to work. Help!

Answer:
Could not find specifications for the memory card in your camera except 128 MB, but it does say in the owners manual to make sure the camera is off and to make sure batteries are removed before removing the memory card. Before adding or removing memory, make sure the processing or ready light is not blinking then turn the camera off and remove batteries. You can use several memory cards if the larger cards won't work in your camera. Check with the Geeks in some of the camera retail stores to see if they can help you. I use the 256 and 512 MB SanDisk cards and find them to be really fast. At a 3 mega pixel setting, the 256 MB card gave me 251 pictures. I use the 3 mega pixel setting because it is faster, takes less memory and gives great results in most cases.Check the source link for help with cleaning battery and camera electrical connections. The secret to making digital cameras work better is having good electrical contacts between the batteries and the camera. Digital cameras require lots of power. If electrical contacts are not really good, this can cause lots of problems so battery and camera contacts must be cleaned properly. Batteries may be fully charged, but will be viewed as low if contacts are not really good. The LCD display is a low steady load, but when lens extension, optical zoom, focus, and flash charging are added in the capture mode; the load is very heavy. With bad contacts, cameras do strange things like making bad pictures or shutting off with the lens out.

Question : What is the difference between Optical Zoom and Digital Zoom? What camera has the max zoom?
I am looking for a camera that deep zoom (at least 10x) Any websites of discount digital cameras you recommend? I had a Konica Minolta (film) that was good but what is a good one for a digital camera? I also had a kodak (digital Cam.) it was decent.

Answer:
Here's an article that has a good explanation of the difference between optical/digital zoom:http://www.dpreview.com/learn/?/Glossary/Digital_Imaging/Digital_zoom_01.htmThe camera with the largest zoom range (without changing lenses) is the Olympus SP550 w/ 18x zoom.http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/specs/Olympus/oly_sp550uz.aspHere's a list of digital camera with big zooms:http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/compare_post.asp

Question : What does SLR digital camera mean? I have a Konica Minolta Dimage A1 is this an SLR ?
I want to enroll in a class to learn about my camera, but since I am a novice I know nothing about digital cameras. I was given this Konica Minolta and don't understand how to use it and if it is a SLR digital.

Question : Digital Camera Wide Angle Converter confusion?
I have a Konica Minolta Dimage Z6 digital camera. It is not an SLR. I want to zoom in as much as possible and am under the impression that getting a lense attachment might help me to zoom in even more. I also like to take sports shots so slowing an image for a clear shot would be paramount. I am looking online for more information but am not camer literate so maybe you can help. Does the following information I have copied from a website seem to describe what I am looking to accomplish? The optional Wide-angle Converter ZCW-300 KIT includes a 0.75x wide-angle lens to let you include more of the scene in your composition. With its 26mm wide angle, the converter lens is ideal for panoramic landscape shots or architectural photography, as well as tight indoor scenes. ORUsing the hot shoe connector you can attach the high power Minolta Maxxum Program Flash 5600 HS (shown), Program Flash 3600 HS or the compact 2500D flash which offer versatile functions such as auto power zo

Answer:
George is correct...the wide angle does the oppostite of what you want. The Z6 has a 12x zoom lens and I was unable to find a teleconverter (this magnifies or zooms in on the image more) for the camera on the Internet shopping sites. But 12x is very good for a zoom lens so you should be ok. Here's a couple tips for sports photography:Note: The maximum light sensitivity of the Z6 is ISO 320. This is not very sensitive and may hamper your ability to get good shots at night. You should be ok in bright sunlight though.Set the ISO at 320Set your exposure mode for aperature prioritySet the aperature at f2.8You could even try setting the ev control for -.3 or -.7 as long as it doesn't underexpose your photos. This will allow you to get a little faster shutter speed. Don't underexpose night photos though as this will lead to increased noise. You will get the fastest shutter speed to freeze action this way.Your flash only has a range of 6-10 feet so it won't be useful unless you're right on top of the action. Double check to see that the flash is turned off or it may slow down your shutter speedShooting tip: Pan your camera with the action so the subject stays relatively still (and sharp) in the center of the frame and the background will be blurred. This will give your pics the feeling of motion.

Question : What non-SLR Digital mega-zoom camera has the biggest Image Sensor?
I'm wanting a new Digital Camera with at least 12x optical zoom with the largest image sensor possible. My current (Konica-Minolta Z3) has a 1/2.5" sensor but I'd like one with at least 4/3 if not full-frame. Do they make any with a sensor this large or are sensors this large reserved only for SLR's?

Answer:
The only bridge camera that I remember with a large sensor is the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-R1. The Cyber-shot R1 has a 10.3 megapixel APS-C sensor and a fixed 5x zoom lens.http://www.dcresource.com/reviews/sony/dsc_r1-review/index.shtmlIt was an ambitious product that, unfortunately, failed to meet expectations. Sony never released anything like the R1 again and it has since discontinued its R-line.The only fixed-lens compacts with a large sensor are the Sigma DP1 and the upcoming DP2. Both the DP1 and DP2 have wide-angle prime lenses. You may want to wait for Olympus' Micro Four Thirds camera. Micro Four Thirds cameras use the 4/3 sensor and utilize interchangeable lenses. Panasonic has already released their first m4/3 product, the G1, which is no larger than its FZ-series ultrazooms.

Question : question about the Konica Minolta G600 digital camera?
I have a konica minolta G600 digital camera that I purchased used a couple of years ago for less than $100 on ebay. recently though I've seen the same exact camera on Amazon and other sites for prices reaching nearly $900. The SAME freakin' camera. I'm just trying to get an idea where this insane price jump came from. please respond only if you can give a relavant answer. Thank you

Answer:
The G600 is an older camera (nearly three and a half years), thus older technology.Statistics on the camera.http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/compare_post.asp?method=sidebyside&cameras=konicaminolta_dima geg600&show=allRefurbished G600's cost around $400.You seem to have found a deal. The big plus for this camera has to do with the fact that it can use both the most popular SD memory card and the propriatary Sony Memory Stick. In addition is has one of the largest sensors found in P&S digital cameras

Question : Why my 2GB SD card no longer works in my digital camera?
I have a Konica Minolta digital camera. My 2GB sd card which is probably about 6 months old, used to work in my camera, but now it just says "Unable to use card." BUT the card still works on other card readers, such as my printer. And no, the disk lock is not on.I tried another 2GB card in my camera, and it works fine. Why can't my camera read that SD card? Does anyone have any insightful answers or solutions to my problem?

Answer:
format the card in the camera
