The D-Lux 3 is a 10mp digital point-and-shoot with O.I.S. optical stabilization technology and the ability to choose between 3 picture formats - from simple JPEG to RAW format. The image stabilizer (O.I.S.) leads to sharply focused images even in situations where there s not really enough natural light. The camera is also perfect for digiscoping - taking photographs through a spotting scope - to capture nature at close range. The D-Lux 3 also gives the photographer the freedom to create his own view of the world without any automatic settings. The 16:9 picture format with the full resolution of over 10 megapixels produces fantastic images for frame-filling viewing on HDTV equipment. The brilliant 2.8 display also has an aspect ratio of 16:9.

Questions & Answers
Question : Leica point and shoot digital camera?
Can someone tell me where Leica's P/S are made? Are they better than other brands? I'm looking for a really good P/S, not like the toys from Nikon. Many thanks!
Answer:
Leica P&S cameras are made by Panasonic as others have already said. They are probably better than Panasonic brands since Leica would specify the manufacturering standards to be applied, but it's not right to assume that they are better than all cameras including "toys" from Nikon. Leica doesn't need to build the best P&S cameras. It has a well known reputation world wide so people will buy their products whether they're good or not. The name does the selling not the qualityI was seriously considering a Leica range finder for $5000 a while back. I was seduced by the name and the alleged quality. By the time I was done I realized that this camera didn't really do much at all, it wasn't better built and the pictures it took weren't among the most outstanding on the market at all. In fact the reviews were not complimentary at all. It's no different with their P&S cameras. So I bought a Nikon toy, the D200 instead for $1,600. What's interesting is that the Nikon is better built than the Leica rangefinder and its so richly functional I am consistently getting outstanding images many of which I would never have gotten from the Leica because it doesn't provide the tools and functions needed even though it's three times the price. If you need to impress your friends then by all means buy the Leica but just keep in mind you'll impress them with the camera but not necessariily with the pictures it will take. There are better cameras on the market from Canon and Nikon that produce better pictures.

Question : What is the best Leica digital camera i can buy?
I saw the Hermes edition and i loved it
Answer:
The Hermes edition is indeed gorgeous. But that was a variation on the M7 model - a 35mm film camera. Also, they only made 500 of them and they retailed for about $10.000 each. For "just" $3000 Leica lets you configure a brand new MP or M7 film camera pretty much any way you want it. Black metal or chrome, different skins, etc. Here's their a-la-carte page: http://en.leica-camera.com/photography/m_system/leica_a_la_carte/Oh, add another few grand if you want lenses with that.As for digital cameras, Leica has 4 product lines:* Point & shoots, which are rebranded and massively overpriced Panasonic cameras,* The new X1, which is a retro looking $2000 point & shoot,* The M8 and new $7000 M9 - digital versions of their rangefinders* And the new S2 for studio work. Their website has photographs for all of these. As for the best Leica camera, that depends on what you shoot. And on how much money you have. But apart from the S2, Leica hasn't been making cameras for professional photographers for decades. These days they're a boutique company that makes retro looking cameras for rich amateurs. (They know their cameras are outrageously expensive and they like it that way.)If you're only after the design aspect yourself - and there's nothing wrong with that - you can pick up a fully fuctional used Leica M2 or M3 film camera with a lens for under $1000 from places like KEH.com Other places, such as cameraleather.com will be happy to sell you kits to pimp those cameras.Need even cheaper? You can buy a Russian knockoff for well under $200 on eBay. Something like a Fed 3 or Zorki 1.

Question : Point and shoot digital camera, Leica D-Lux 3?
I'm looking for a high end P/S digital camera, is Leica D-Lux 3 worth $600? What is your recommendation? How much (the most) would you shell out for P/S?Your advice is greatly appreciated, thanks a bunch!
Answer:
Leica makes top quality cameras. I would not pay more than $300 for a high end P&S. You get to $500 and you can start looking at low end DSLR's which offer more.

Question : does a 35mm leica m3 lens fits any digital leica camera?
analog leica lens to digital leica camera
Answer:
Leica made/makes 3 different types of interchangeable lens mounts. They include LTM or M39, M and R. LTM or M39 are screw mount rangefinder lenses from the 1950's and prior. M are bayonet rangefinder mount lenses from the 1950's and forward. R lenses are bayonet mount SLR lenses. All these are film lens mounts. The only digital Leicas are M rangefinders and noninterchangeable lens point-and-shoot size cameras. Obviously you can't swap lenses on the point-and-shoot's. You can *generally speaking, with only a few exceptions* use all M lenses, film or digital on all M bodies, film or digital. LTM lenses can mount to M bodies with an adaptor. So if you buy a Leica M8 or M9, the digital M rangefinders, you can use pretty much all M and LTM lenses made since the 1930's.Btw, film and analog are not the same thing. Technically speaking, digital cameras are analog.

Question : how to use panaroma in leica v lux 20 digital camera?
.is it really a panaroma .or i have to take separate photo then add those with a software in the pcyes i have it and yes that have a mode saying panaroma assist .after taking one picture it will say next .then again it will show you where your last picture's end part .so you can begin again from that part .but in the end what i got is seperate photos .not like sony cybershot where three photo auto joined and give you a perfect panaroma view
Answer:
Do you have this camera? If so read the manual? If not perhaps you can download a manual from the maker. That's what I do in advance of buying a new camera. By the time I have it I pretty much know what I want to.Panorama is certainly available in software. Any panorama effect requires several photos whether in the camera or in software. And the final question, are you sure this camera has that feature?
