Big bang for the buck
Bought this camera because Fantasea had a custom underwater case for it and I was heading to Grand Cayman
The unit takes excellent pictures out of the water and good pictures in it-Deeper you go the bluer they get - You need a $40 red filter for some balance (or a $4/5000 pro model with an arm load of lighting gear) - Next year we will have the filter
For those complaining about out of focus, READS THE BOOK and use AUTO rather then EASY Auto

Exceellent digital for all different events!
I purchase this Nikon due to a friend of my daughter's(age 14), had it dropped at my daughter's bday party, and the girls responsible were able to chip in to replace....and though feeling their lumps about this.....Amazon affordable price made it workable, and positive teachable moment. The young girl who received the new camera loves it better than the original camera(Canon), due to more features and easability. So, thank you Amazon for being there in the moment!!!

Great Camera
I am awful with digital cameras. For me, they always break or stop taking clear pictures. I recently purchased this Nikon to replace two Kodak cameras. The camera is easy to use and durable. The pictures came out clear. For the price you can not beat it.

Great Camera
The s570 is a very good camera, its sturdy, stylish, portable, easy to use, and it has a very reasonable price tag. The only problem is that if your trying to take many pictures quickly it wont always work to well for that, it cant take many pictures quickly at one time.
But overall this camera is very good, i would defiantly recommend it.

Let down
My review will be short and sweet. I have tried everything that I know of and what customer support thought would help to clear up the pictures this camera takes. Every picture has a haze to it. It is very rare that I can snap a pic on the first try. If I move at all the picture comes out blurry. Oh well, 150 dollar paperweight.

Camera Review
This Nikon Coolpix camera is awesome! I've used it already a few times in video mode and the quality is fantastic. Shooting introductory surfing video (from a distance)was SO easy and good for a beginner. Quick shots (a feature of quick rapid action intended) still photographs was FANTASTIC! I would buy this as a gift, everyday use and beginner camera. Initial Amazon price earlier on crushed Best Buy but rebounded just prior to purchase, but still beat BB and I only went to the store for my initial hands-on research. Shipping was fast through our seller! I am totally sold on the ease of use, quality and capability of this camera. You should be too! Taking multi-use video and stills can not be easier than on this camera!

Incredible camera for the money.
I bought the Coolpix S570 for use as an aerial photography camera. In other words, I hang it on a model airplane and trigger the shutter remotely. I was worried that I'd made a bad choice after seeing all the "blurred image" commentary in other reviews. I don't know what those folks are doing wrong..I've gotten nothing but crisp & clear shots despite the fact that everything I shoot is from a moving (frequently violently vibrating) platform. This little camera does everything I want of it, and it's lightweight and solidly built to boot. Two thumbs up from me!

great camera to learn about dig photography
In short, this is a light weight, easy to use camera that takes excellent pix and has a really good manual help to learn digital skills. This is my first digital camera. I am a fair to pretty good photographer with a film camera. Did not want to spend a lot of money since I am just learning how to use digital. With this camera I am now pretty good to WOW WOW! Look what I did. The camera is easy to use and I can get great pix. I use the camera mostly for nature shots and outdoors. I have taken pix of everything form crab spiders in the calyx of a plant to the moon. Have had the camera for about seven months and am extremely happy with the product. The manual is very easy to use and understand so it its helping me to learn this new skill. I did not like the Nikon software that comes with the camera. Big waste of time. I use iphoto and Aperture III for downloading and editing. I also use some of the nifty iphone photo apps to makes artsy shots. I am also just learning how to use all of this software but am enjoying creating and printing my own photos. I would recommend getting the Nikon brand batteries and not the el cheapos. The Nikon batteries spring out of the camera quickly. The less expensive brand does not. I bought two cheaper batteries and was very frustrated. Too hard to get out of the camera! I shoot a lot of pictures when I am rambling thru the natural world so need to change batteries quickly in dusty or dirty areas. In about a year I plan to move up to a dslr with a big honking telephoto and other fun lenses but until them I am very happy to shoot with this little guy. My only problem seems to be not enough wall space to hang all the really cool images I have gotten with this point and shoot. I notice some folks complaining about pix quality. I had to learn to take a little more time when shooting. This is a digital camera so it takes a few seconds for the camera to set up and meter a shot. Watch the monitor to see that the camera has everything set. It is not like a film camera so you cannot just fire away. Also, choosing the right setting is important. This is also something a beginner has to learn. Again, if you are willing to learn this is a great entry level camera.

I have big hands and I shake alittle when holding something for very long. My Coolpix P90 is just what I had been looking for. Now I can take pictures of my Grandbabies and secure my stuff for insurance purposes. The reconditioned camera was in my price range and I couldn't be more pleased. My Garnddaughter had just purchased the same one several weeks ago and I saw the results. It takes great pictures and it's easy to use. Thanks Amazon.com Johnny McGuire

Great camera
I just received this camera today and it appears to be a real beauty. First of all I am not a professional photographer so I really just needed a good, solid camera with high zoom capability and good resolution. The P90 fits the bill in all that. I am studying the manual today to learn how to use all the other features and capabilities and I am sure it will be a joy to use. My previous camera was a Kodak DX6490 which is a great camera but began acting a little flaky. So, it was time for a new, upgraded camera. The P90 has an excellent "feel", very solid and a bit hefty which makes it seem like a "real" camera. I took a few sample pictures and they look great. I got it from Amazon at a very good price compared to the local retailers in my area. Included are the battery, charger, lens cap, neck strap, A/V cable and USB cable. I had a 2 GB SD card which, according to the display, would hold about 350 pictures at the highest quality and resolution. I have ordered an 8 GB card and extra batteries so I will be prepared for the little league season coming up. The menu system is easy to use and the buttons/switches are all in the right place and easy to access. Unless there is something drastically wrong with this camera that I have yet to discover I think I will be very pleased with it.

Can't belive they sold it under the Nikon name
Can't begin to say how much I hated this camera. I did return it. It is the first camera I ever returned. The zoom is an impressive 7x in this small housing, however the zoom control is so poorly designed that it seems to move in 5 steps. There is no fine zoom speed, its allllllllllllllways fast. If you attempt to frame something the zoom over shoots the desired focal length. then you go back and forth with the zoom, too tight, too loose, too tight, too loose. ARRRRG I crop it later.
Controls were frustrating. Change the exposure? Don't forget to confirm before you shoot or it reverts back to the previous setting. Don't even THINK of shooting in low light. Although the camera is 3200ISO (In 3M only) they FORGOT THE NOISE REDUCTION. So any shot not in sunlight has multi colored sparkles. Now a few extra sparkles in a night sky isn't so bad but the sparkles in the grass look dumb. And remember your sparkles in the sky might be green or purple. Rather than using a recursive noise reduction (Cameras that used this shoot your picture and then shoot one more with the lens closed, then subtract the second picture (which is noise only) from the first giving a near perfect sharp picture) The only option here was to have the camera BLUR the picture so the noise would be blended away. That process blurs the picture.
To the camera's credit it does take nice sunset pictures. It is compact.
Please look at a Cannon or Olympus. Nikon might make a good SLR but this is a dog.

HUGE Disappointment!
This camera was a huge disappointment to me. It is the second Nikon digital point and shoot I have owned. The first was several years ago and was a good camera. I also own Sony and Canon digital point and shoots and a Panasonic digital mega-zoom. This camera appears to be a cheap imitation of the Sony Cybershot line. It is set up almost identically. The camera feels OK as far as quality, but no match for any of the others I own. Most importantly, the image quality is absolute CRAP! Once in a while it manages to take a good picture, only then in good light, and only if I take 3 or 4 shots and hope one will turn out OK. Too much light and the image will be washed out. The flash is way too powerful & washes out low light shots. If no flash is used in low light the images are terrible as well. Any zoom over 3x is worthless as well since the shot will not be in focus. Worst of all: I bought this as a gift for my wife for Christmas and expected it would be better than our Sony, which was great, but broken by our little boy. The feeling of giving a bad gift has definitely sworn me off Nikons for good. My wife has no patience for technology that is not easy to use without endless donking with the settings. Sony, Canon or Panasonic are the way to go. Do NOT buy this camera if you are looking for something that will take great pictures every time.

Great Pix for the Price!
Great things about CoolPix: + Long-lasting battery + Clear, High Quality pictures + Adjusts to almost any conditions + Design and color very stylish + Well made + Light weight
Other notes: + Little zooming while taking a video, I think it should be possible to zoom more + It takes a little bit too long to snap a photo + Zoom can be difficult to control
Accessories to buy: + SD card + Case + Lens Protector + Extra battery
I am very pleased with this camera, especially because you get a good product for a good price. It is very well designed, and it fits everywhere.

This is a great compact point and shoot.
I bought this to replace a hp with 6x optical zoom and am sure happy with my purchase. I've now taken about 1000 pictures and a dozen movie clips in a variety of conditions. The optical vibration reduction works great, I've taken lots pictures while skiing and at Disney parks on rides and they come out great during daylight hours. It's really fast (I use a class 6 Transend memory card) between pictures. It does take a couple seconds to recharge the flash when the battery is lower. I read complaints of bad pixels, which I see many of when veiwing pics on the camera, but they don't appear when I upload the photos or print them out. I also tested a few at stores and some previews looked really red toned This was also the case with my purchase but the pics appear fine once uploaded. The auto setting works great except for outdoor night shots. To shoot in low light the exposure gets long and the camera must be set against somthing steady like a wall. The videos are really clear but the sound is a little weak. The controls take a little getting used to but work great almost as well as my HP. I love the 7x zoom, start up and pic to pic speed. I've never seen a point and shoot that works this well and after a lot of use I am thrilled about it. My only dilemma was Amazons shipping, it took 15 days to arrive, I should of ordered it through a different supplier.

didn't excite me
When I spend this much money for a camera it should excite me - it doesn't. I was enticed to buy this camera by the 26X zoom. I am returning it and will stay with my Panasonic FZ35 - 12mp/18X zoom. I took both cameras out to do a comparision, the panasonic pics were as good or better than the nikon - clearer, brighter, sharper. There also were some smaller things I didn't like: 1) the battery has to be charged in the camera, that means you can't use the camera with a second battery while the first one charges, 2)you have to go to the main menu to make small changes while the Panasonic has a "quick menu" that allows changes in seconds, 3) it goes off too quickly. Yes it can be set for 30 minutes but then everything stays on, I want it to just go to sleep so it only needs a touch of the button to wake up not go through a complete start up.I do mainly wildlife/bird pics and you need to be ready when they present themselves, by the time you go through starting up they are gone. I'm sure these are Nikon features but I don't like them. I will stay a faithful Panasonic user and wait for them to come out with a larger zoom one of these days.

Excellent product. Great improvement over the P90.
I love this camera. I researched several cameras before purchasing the P100 and I was not impressed with any of them. Then I found the Nikon p90 which I thought was alright. It had several features that I liked such as the 23x zoom and the multi-angle view finder. I was a little disappointed with the picture quality I attributed most of the poor quality to the fact that it had 12.1MP resolution which most people will agree is only useful if you are taking pictures that you plan to enlarge into wall art. Then I heard about the New P100 which had an even more impressive zoom at 26x and when I found out it was only 10MP and It shot 1080P HD video I was sold. When my camera finally arrived right out of the box I was impressed with the overhauled version of the p90 they had added several useful features. I have taken several photos so far and the problems with the p90 are gone the photo quality is amazing even in low light. I love the facial recognition mode for up to 12 faces and the fact that the shutter releases when every one smiles. The in camera photo editing software is decent the software for your computer is better. I have found only one flaw the battery does not last but for about 300 pictures less with the flash so it is a good idea to buy extras but they are cheap and easy to find on e-bay also it does not come with an external battery charger but again you can find it cheap. In conclusion I LOVE THIS CAMERA!!

Tons of performance in a very modest package
This is a very versatile camera and responsive to most needs. It has a good macro range to go along with a super zoom range. It compares well to a Panasonic DMC-GH1 which has a much larger sensor and more expensive optics (the lens alone is twice the price of this Nikon). The Panasonic also produced higher saturation and contrast shots in default mode and this gives the appearance of higher resolution. The Nikon gave a truer auto outdoor color balance and more natural contrast. Even at ISO 800 it was very sharp. You can enlarge a few test shots at the DPReview forums by searching for "Nikon P100 test shots". or if this works: [...]
The two highlights that amazed me were the Nikon's focusing indicator system. It is so cool that when you shoot a bouquet of flowers the display shows you each blossom chosen by the matrix focusing system. You click the shutter with the knowledge that it is choosing what you want. Wonderful. The second highlight is the range of the optics from good macro, nice wide angle, and amazing telephoto. Please see the photos I uploaded showing how well this camera compares. What the Nikon lacks mostly comes down to smooth tones and fine detail at high ISOs; and this is only because it is being compared to a large sensor camera. The images would easily pass a fairly critical viewer on an 8x10 print and seem to be better than previous cameras with this size sensor.
Pros (so far): Great focus indicator system, Display shows small green squares over selected objects for focus = ready to shoot, red square = not ready Light, easy to hold good fit to my medium sized hands. Articulated screen seems more natural than the swing out to the side screens (aligned with lens) Quick access to shoot videos, focus tracking option, slow motion (lower res 240 fps), Hugh zoom range and quite fast action, 1½ ++ second end to end Outdoor sunlight colors quite natural Very good resolution lens for this price range and favorably compares to much more expensive lenses (see above photos, several are pieces of 16 x 20 prints) Very good macro versatility (see blowup of portion of terry towel above) Adequate viewfinder but very contrasty, necessary info in viewfinder.
Cons (so far): When shooting a video the focus is not able to keep up with the zoom (I reduced my rating because of this). No RAW image option (less important with tools like Corel Image Adjustment Lab that gives me color temperature correction on jpg) Lens cap rather than auto protect system, must remember to take it off before turning on camera (your notified when you forget) Must use the menu system for several settings (ISO, color balance), slower but OK (hats off to the Canon G11, Panasonic) Fast zoom over big range means it is tricky to accurately crop a shot (same with others though) Would love to see a 'nudge' feature for small changes. Color balance with my photo fluorescent lights was tricky to dial in Quick shutter in most situations but not all No hot shoe for accessories and external flash Only an adequate viewfinder Minimum aperture of f8 (standard for cameras in this class, but would love to see it improved) Screen does not 'self protect' Must manually switch viewfinder verses LCD, simple one push button though

Jump from the Point & Click is noticeable
I bought this camera for my wife because I know she is going to take a ton of pictures of our new baby on the way. That being said, I looked into the DSLRs and talked to a lot of people about what we should get. The feeling I got was that DSLRs were a little out of my comfort zone. I still wanted to "point and click" but wanted some more depth and pop to the photos. In our first test last night after it arrived, we were blown away by the difference. Close shots of a ladybug on the orange tree v. zooming in on lamp posts across the street - everything was clear. We took a photo of our old car and it looked like a dealership photo. As an aside, I have no idea how the camera made the dirty car clean. As you can tell, I'm very happy with the purchase.
The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that I am a novice and have not figured out everything the camera can do after a quick spin. I assume I would give it five after doing so.

Liked it until it froze
I was truly happy with this camera. Yes, many of the photos were a crap shoot, but I was learning the different settings and getting some great results. Was farely happy with the stability control and photo quality, especially the tight zoom shots. I could make out the DUST on objects in my house. Some action shots were a blur of motion. Sports mode is outstanding. It was like a flip book. Low light was grainy, but I'm sure it can be tweaked...or not. I never got that far. After owning it 6 days it froze in full zoom. The power light was on, but nothing would respond. I had JUST fully charged the battery. I finally took it out and put it back in (the battery) and it slowly shut down and came out of zoom. WHAT the hell caused this I do not know. However, I decided to return this camera and get one that has been on the market a little longer and has a track record. I probably got a lemon, but it does scare me. For the money, there are others that seem as good or better. So I feel fine not keeping the amazing 26x zoom. I will say the menu is the simplest I have ever used. I am no camera buff, but it was a breeze. It also boosts a completely printed out, detailed manual. The video is okay. You need at least a class 6 card for the HD video. The class 4 would stutter stop the motion. You can set it to VGA with the class 4 and it worked fine. The battery life is only so so. Again, this is simply my opinion of a camera I owned for a week. In the future if this camera is tried and true I would consider giving it another shot. The best photos this camera gave me were close ups of my sons face. They were truly amazing. In the P, and auto modes with flash, indoors. Another I liked was some zooms I took outdoors from a moving car. In P mode. VERY loud zoom and it seems to shake when in video, but was told this is farely typical. That the Panasonic is much quieter. It is. I played around at Wolf camera. I think it was the ... fz35. I hope this issue is not a common one. Too early to tell. Good luck! I think this camera has SO much potential...but not for me at this time. I'm a bit skiddish now.

Questions & Answers
Question : Can I use a Nikon 35mm camera lens with any Nikon Digital Camera?
I've got a lot of great Nikon lenses but want to up grade to a digital camera. Can I get any Nikon Digital Camera to use with these lenses? My understanding is that most F-mount lenses are compatible with newer models.
Answer:
yes and no99% of all nikon 35mm lenses will fit all the current Nikon DSLRs... HOWEVER, certain things may not work on the camera when you use an older lenses metering is sometimes lost on the DSLR if you don't use a Nikon lens that has the electronics in the lens... or if you buy a D40, D40x, D60 you would not be able to use an older Nikon auto focus lens and have the auto focus work unless it was one of the AF lenses with the built in motor. The oldest AF lenses required a motor drive in the camera body to focus the lens, Nikon left that motor out of the low end cheaper DSLRs.

Question : If i buy the SB-800 for my Nikon digital camera do i need an umbrella or softbox also?
To take professional pictures with good lighting. Also, which Nikon model digital camera would you recommend?? For portraits/indoor outdoor photography
Answer:
I picked up a LightSphere from Gary Fong for my SB-600, it gives a nice diffused light source. I shoot a fair amount of portraits and like my D90 for that. Good image quality that won't break the bank. For even better the D300s is a higher build quality.

this is my camera i needa better lens that zooms in ad out more than the 18-55 lens!!Megapixels: 6.1 Megapixels Optical Zoom: 3 X Lens System Nikon AF-S DX 18-55mm lens LCD Screen Size: 2.5 in Recording Method SDHC Memory Card, MultiMediaCard, Secure Digital (SD) Card Camera Type Digital camera - SLR
Answer:
I suggest you stick with Nikon lenses. The original manufacturers lenses are almost always better. A very popular choice right now is the Nikkor 18-200mm zoom. I provided a link below. It is not the cheapest lens out there but it has a great zoom range. For most people this is the only lens they will ever need.http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/408518-USA/Nikon_2159_18_200mm_f_3_5_5_6G_ED_IF_AF_S.html

Question : Do I need a special flash for my Nikon Digital Camera?
I need a larger flash for my Nikon Coolpix 4500 digital Camera with a hot shoe, and would love to be able to use the trusty Vivitar Thrysistor 283 that worked so well with my old SLR, but the Nikon manual warns that flashes not specifically made for Nikon Digital Cameras may damage the camera through some kind of electronic feedback. Are they just trying to sell me a $300 flash unit, or is this a valid concern?
Answer:
Yup, it is possible for an old flash to fry a camera due to the trigger voltages. You can check this site for more info on that http://www.botzilla.com/photo/strobeVolts.html. Cross reference your flash against the table there. In any case, using an older flash would probably mean a loss of i-ttl (for nikon) or e-ttl (for canon). You would need to use auto/manual flash then. In addition, the camera may also act funny (e.g. my old metz on my canon 20D will always give me a 1/200 f5.6 on program mode. I have to use it in manual mode instead.

Question : Does anyone own a Nikon digital camera that they love or hate?
If you own a Nikon digital camera I would really like to know your thoughts on it. Just be sure to tell me what kind it is and what you like and don't like about it. I'm looking to buy a Nikon digital camera soon and I wanted some outside views on which ones are the best. Price isn't that important to me as long as the quality is worth it. I don't want to pay $700+ only to find out that I might as well have gotten a disposable camera from walmart.Thank You!
Answer:
I own a Nikon D50,and am happy with it. The only frustrating thing is that I don't yet have the skills to fully utilize its capabilities. HOWEVER-there is more variation in pix quality due to the skill of the user than in the cameras. Sort of like making love.

Question : what is the best nikon digital camera?
i am looking for a new digital camera and i'm am not sure what is best for me. i shake really bad, so i need the image stabilization thing. and i am looking for a digital camera, not one of the big photography ones. something that takes sharp, good day and night pictures would be really nice. but the big thing is something that takes reaaaaaaaally sharp pictures that are not grainy. i know nikon is good, cause my mom has one of the photography cameras and it is amaaaaaaaazing. but too much and too big for me. any helppp?ps. i am looking for something new, like off their website.
Answer:
actually the "big photography" ones are not really big, Nikon has few entry level DSLRs which are really small, D40/40x, and D60, and they have VR (vibration reduction) on the lens.by the way, shake may due to how you hold your camera, keep your arms/elbow right next to your body will help.
