Take a great picture no matter the conditions. The Nikon Coolpix S560 has many features that help you do just that. For example, for fast-moving subjects, there's Face Priority AF, a face-finding technology that quickly finds and focuses on up to 12 faces in a group portrait. Blink warning will let you know when your subject's eyes are closed so you can retake your picture. And with a possible ISO of 3200, you'll get that important picture you want. Scene Auto Selector automatically recognizes the scene in your picture and adjusts the camera setting Blink warning will let you know when your subject's eyes are closed so you can retake your picture Smile Shutter - The camera can detect up to three faces with the subject's smile, determine which is closest to the center of the frame, ultimately firing the shutter Face Priority AF - face-finding technology quickly finds and focuses on up to 12 faces in a group portrait In-Camera Red-Eye Fix D-Lighting - rescue those photos that are too dark for printing by enhancing the underexposed areas of the picture while not touching the properly exposed areas ISO up to 3200 15 Scene Modes High Quality TV Movies with Sound - duration is limited by the available space on your SD/SDHC card Approx. 44MB Internal Memory Formats - JPEG, AVI, WAV Rechargeable Lithium-ion Battery Dimensions (H x W x D) - 2.1 x 3.7 x 0.9 in. Coolpix 560

The S560 is a full featured, easy to use small camera. The only significant problem I have found with it is that the battery will not hold a charge for very long.

Nice camera

Good features and great picture for this price point. The charger that has a pivoting plug would be better and more compact than this one with a cord.

Great Camera for the Price

I am very pleased with this camera, it is a great value for the price. I bought it for my wife and she really likes it. It is easy to use and has excellent picture
quality. I would recommend it for anyone looking for a good quality, inexpensive
digital camera.

Good choice for portability

Bought this camera for my wife. She wanted something compact loaded with features. Well
Nikon delivered all of that and more. I have been amazed at some of the pictures she has
captured.

Get it!

Recommend this camera. Not a photo expert and it is easy to use. A good deal of features I have not yet used or figured out but for ease of use our 9 year old is a master. Zoom is very good. Right size too. Button feel good to use not cheap. Easy to remove battery pack and photo card slot,(after I read the instructions). The only fault for this and current cameras the 10MP is not needed for everyday standard photos. The file size is too large. Now need software to reduce my photo file sizes for storage.

    Customer Review :

Great Pics, bad video quailty due to camera sounds.

I purchased this camera having read several reviews. I knew the flash was in a bad position and thought I could contend with that. It was more of a pain than I anticipated. I figured that the HD video noise people were describing would have been a malfunction in the camera that they received. I did not experience the noise that several people described but I did notice a clicking sound on playback. The sound was created when the zoom was used during recording. I exchanged the camera for another one thinking it may have been a malfunction in that camera... the replacement did the same thing. The clicking is loud enough that it really distracts and in some cases covers up sound from the subject your recording. When you don't use the zoom, the video is great. I contacted Nikon and they provided me with a quote from the owner's manual...

    ""This is not a malfunction.

As stated in your User's Manual, "The sounds of zoom control operation, autofocus lens drive movement and vibration reductions were recorded.""

They know about this and put it the manual but not in the specs or on the packaging. You don't know about it until after you've made the purchase or read it online. I am so over Nikon for a while. I will be returning the second one and looking into other options. It is a shame because the camera takes great pictures and is small enough to carry in my pocket.

Love it but I broke the battery-"door"

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this simple camera. I have gone through at least 10 digital cameras in the past 2 years (all were stolen or broken purposefully by a*holes...) and now I have 2 digital cameras plus the one on my Blackberry... recording equipment of any kind is like a weapon I use, instead of real weapons... (Nikon Coolpix L19 and a Canon 10.1, very similar to the Nikon but actually I like the Nikon better. They are around the same price/look.)

I love this camera so much and USE it so much that I am willing to TAPE the darn battery-door shut to make it work... I know the latch can be fixed somehow but I don't have $ to fix it and when I do get $, I am robed. I know, the world IS out to get me. But I'm be out to get the world really soon.

The ironic thing is, the latch that keeps the memory card in my Canon does not work, but the latch that keeps the battery/mem. card area closed does work... the mem. cards stay in my Nikon fine.

Anyhow, I love the video ability of the Nikon and its ease of use with everything else. I DO like the AA battery vs. lithium battery; I lose the lithium batteries and they cost my too much to replace. I WOULD sell my Nikon for a very inexpensive rate if I could buy a new one exactly the same; or I'd barter it out along with whatever, for a new, unopened perfect Nikon CoolpixL19 8MP. Anyone interested, email me at [...]

camera was defective & it cost $18.45 to return it.

I was looking for a simple digital camera for my mother who has had a stroke and read reviews of this Nikon that said it was simple to use. When I got the camera and tested it, the LCD display was so grainy I could hardly see anything, the zoom was sticky, and the auto focus was not working. I have two Nikons that I love so was so disapointed. I got free shipping so to return it, I had to pay the original shipping of $9 plus another $9.45 to send it back. I probably will not buy anything else from Amazon because of this extra expense.

      Another One Bites the Dust

This is the second digital camera I have bought through Amazon and the second one to break after a few months. This one was in a soft sleeve in my coat pocket. I brought it out to take a picture of my kids and the screen was ruined, completely useless. Prior to breaking, I wasn't all that thrilled with the camera. There is a delay in the shooting which leads it to the camera constantly asking "did someone blink?" Why yes, because little kids can't hold still and smile for very long. I didn't find this all that easy to use. So, I've been through a Cannon and now this Nikon. Both broke. However, I need a camera to record my children's lives. These digital cameras are quickly becoming very expensive disposables.

      Mediocre camera

This is my first digital camera and overall it's not very impressive. I like that it was relatively inexpensive(paid $97.87), has a large display, and has features that are easy to use. The batteries seem to last a reasonable amount of time (I use 2 AA rechargeables). However, I expected a better quality camera from Nikon and if I had to do over I would try to find one with less annoyances. They are:

(-) Blurry pics- It works fine outdoors on a sunny day, but indoor pictures are touchy. I find the "smile" setting to be the best for indoor/outdoor and dark lighting. Auto mode is terrible.

(-)Lens error- Not the most durable camera. Dropped it once on carpet and the lens jammed. It still works (for now), but it takes a while for the lens to open and makes a lot of clicking noises. Probably not a good buy if you are the slightest bit clumsy. Amazon sells cases for $6 Premium Digital Camera Zipper Eva Pouch Carrying Case - 10 Color Available for Nikon Coolpix L19, L20, S220, S230, S620, S630, S710, S610c, S610, S560, S60, S600, S550, S520, S210, S52c, S52, S700, S510, S200, S51c, S51, S50c, S500, L18, L15, L12, L11, L10

(-)SD card slot placement- The SD card slot is in with the batteries, so if you want to take out the SD card the batteries fall out too.

(-)Delay- I've never had an expensive camera and it seems that all cheap ones have a few second delay. Not good for action shots.

      Poor picture quality

I rarely write negative reviews, but this camera has driven my wife and me nuts. We have two young daughters, so we wanted to have a reliable, easy-to-use camera to follow them as they grow up. This camera is AWFUL! The picture quality is horrendous -- we have to take four or five shots just to get one that is somewhat clear. It often sticks so that you can't take the picture immediately. We called Nikon and they claimed it was our memory drive. We changed drives, and it still takes poor pictures. Enough! We are getting a different camera.

    Questions & Answers
Question : Do I need a special flash for my Nikon Digital Camera?
I need a larger flash for my Nikon Coolpix 4500 digital Camera with a hot shoe, and would love to be able to use the trusty Vivitar Thrysistor 283 that worked so well with my old SLR, but the Nikon manual warns that flashes not specifically made for Nikon Digital Cameras may damage the camera through some kind of electronic feedback. Are they just trying to sell me a $300 flash unit, or is this a valid concern?

    Answer:
Yup, it is possible for an old flash to fry a camera due to the trigger voltages. You can check this site for more info on that http://www.botzilla.com/photo/strobeVolts.html. Cross reference your flash against the table there. In any case, using an older flash would probably mean a loss of i-ttl (for nikon) or e-ttl (for canon). You would need to use auto/manual flash then. In addition, the camera may also act funny (e.g. my old metz on my canon 20D will always give me a 1/200 f5.6 on program mode. I have to use it in manual mode instead.

Question : Will optional lenses 70-300 etc from a 35 mm nikon 4004 work if i buy a nikon digital camera body?
I have mulitiple lenses from my old 35mm nikon 4004 and I want to use them with a digital camera but I dont know if it can be done...any idea?

    Answer:
All of the current Nikon DSLRs except the D40, D40x, D60 are fully compatible (meter and auto-focus) with AF, AF-D lenses from a N4004 including the AF Zoom-NIKKOR 70-300mm f/4-5.6G lens. The D40, D40x, D60 cameras meter but do not auto-focus AF and AF-D lenses.

Question : Can I use a Nikon 35mm camera lens with any Nikon Digital Camera?
I've got a lot of great Nikon lenses but want to up grade to a digital camera. Can I get any Nikon Digital Camera to use with these lenses? My understanding is that most F-mount lenses are compatible with newer models.

    Answer:
yes and no99% of all nikon 35mm lenses will fit all the current Nikon DSLRs... HOWEVER, certain things may not work on the camera when you use an older lenses metering is sometimes lost on the DSLR if you don't use a Nikon lens that has the electronics in the lens... or if you buy a D40, D40x, D60 you would not be able to use an older Nikon auto focus lens and have the auto focus work unless it was one of the AF lenses with the built in motor. The oldest AF lenses required a motor drive in the camera body to focus the lens, Nikon left that motor out of the low end cheaper DSLRs.

Question : Can I load photos from a Nikon digital camera to my computer if I've got Sony software installed?
Can I load photos from a Nikon digital camera to my computerif I've got Sony software installed? Can I install Nikon andSony software on the same computer so I can load photos fromboth cameras? Thanks

    Answer:
yes you can you just can't use the sony softwareyes you canyesdon't know if yur usin a windows or mac but you don't really need to use the software yur camera came with when you insert your memory card/connect camera to computor instead of clicking open with the camera software click open to view files

Question : If i buy the SB-800 for my Nikon digital camera do i need an umbrella or softbox also?
To take professional pictures with good lighting. Also, which Nikon model digital camera would you recommend?? For portraits/indoor outdoor photography

    Answer:
I picked up a LightSphere from Gary Fong for my SB-600, it gives a nice diffused light source. I shoot a fair amount of portraits and like my D90 for that. Good image quality that won't break the bank. For even better the D300s is a higher build quality.

Question : Will the lenses and flash bulbs of an older Nikon camera be compatable with the newer digital Nikon cameras?
A family member of mine purchased an older semi-professional Nikon camera in the early '90s, and he was wondering if his flash bulb and lenses, also bought new around the same time, would be compatible with a new digital Nikon camera.Advance thanks for any help provided : )

    Answer:
I am guessing you mean speedlight or flash and not flashbulb. There are probably only a small percentage of the folks on here that have actually ever used a flash bulb. But I know where you are comming from ~lol~ It depends on the speedlight and lens but probably so . Any speelight with a low enough sync voltage like the SB-25 can be used I will link a chart so you can check the flash. If you do not know the sync voltage or if the chart says its above 12 V for Nikon ( 6 volt for Canon) get a wein hot shoe to hot shoe safe sync slave and you can use any speedliht with that between the speedlight and the cameraHere is the chart http://www.botzilla.com/photo/strobeVolts.htmlNow as to lenses any lens that is AI, AF, AFd, AFs or AFi can be used On some cameras pre AI lenses can also be used ( D40/D60) Others they cannot mount on unless they have been AI converted Yours are probably AF or AFd if they were made in the 90s as they started making them in 1986 and they are still made today, AI lenses will never autofocus they were manual focuse cameras. In addition only AFs and AFi lenses will autofocus on the D40/D40x or D60AI lenses will not meter on D100, D90, D80, D79, D60,D50 or D40. They will not matrix meter on the D1 though they will center weight and spot meter, they meter on all other Nikon dSLRI routinely use lenses from the 70s on my cameras ( D40 and D300) . Feel free to email me with specifics on the camera, lens and spedlight you have gotten. BTW That old film SLR still probably takes great pictures also so keep it around in case you get a yearning to shoot film oneday

Question : can a nikon slr 35mm lens be used on a nikon digital camera?
i have a nikon n55 film slr and i'm looking to buy a nikon d70 or d80. i have two lenses, one of which is a 70-200mm (af). both the n55 and d70/80 use a 'g' lens mount but i'm wondering if there are disadvantages to using a film lens on a digital camera. thanks in advance!

    Answer:
Absolutely .. that is what is so good about Nikon's .. even the old manual focus lenses from 1959 can be used with a little $15 AI modification ... any AI lens forward can be used. I use all my old Nikkor lenses on my D100 and D200 DSLR's.Since your N55 is a auto-focus camera, all of its lenses will work on the D70 or D80 DSLRThere are NO disadvantages using 35mm Nikon "film" lenses on a DSLR

Question : Can you use Nikon lenses for film cameras on your digital camera?
I was told that Nikon digital camera lenses are interchangeable with Nikon film camera lenses...the difference being that lenses made for the film cameras cost significantly less than those made for the digital cameras. Does anyone know if you this is true?
