Excellent camera/great value package

I knew this was the camera I wanted but was skeptical of the package. It turned out that everything in the pkg was fine quality, exactly as advertised. The price was better than competitive. Best of all, the retailer's service was astounding. I placed my order on a holiday, standard shipping, and I received it just 2 days later.

    Customer Review :

    Nice style, inconsistent picture quality.

I love the color and style of this camera. I had no problem figuring out how to use it and how to change the settings. However, its auto mode for pictures is terrible. Most of the indoor pictures I took on auto were grainy. I was able to fix this by manually lowering the ISO, but the camera should be able to do this on its own. One picture I took I couldn't get the proper color quality---without the flash is was too yellow and with the flash it was white and washed out. I ended up using the picture with the flash and adjusting the color quality on my computer to get the photo to look alright. The outdoor photos I took all turned out fine except for when I had manually lowered the ISO and forgot to change it back.

I got this camera to replace my lost (stolen) Canon SD1200, and the Canon is much better. This Nikon can take as good of pictures as the Canon, but you're going to have to play around with the settings first.

    Great for the price

I've owned a version of this camera before and I'm just as happy with this one. For what I paid I love it. It's not a top of the line camera with high quality pictures but it does what I need and I'm very happy with it.

A good camera for the price

I bought this camera even though the other customer reviews did not inspire a lot of confidence. So far I am happy with the camera, even though I have only downloaded one picture from the camera. The camera is super small and easy to transport in a purse. I am pretty happy with it and it is very easy to use. If you have enough money, then get a better camera. But if you don't, and I did not have a lot of money, this camera will work just fine.

I did not receive a battery with this camera, which I'm sure is supposed to be included because all other accessories were sent with camera and the camera cannot be operated without a battery. I contacted the company as soon as I received the camera and they never returned my e-mails.

    Excellent - Full Featured Camera

This camera is great. My family has been looking for a camera better then a typical point and shoot and not as bulky/expensive as a DSLR. What we found was the Coolpix P100. The camera has a set of amazing features and an excellent zoom. I used the camera at a graduation as well as at some sporting events and the modes work well. The sport shooting captured clear pictures of people in motion which is one of our favorite features along with the zoon.

    Definitely would recommend this camera!

Customer Review :

lousy pictures, beware

I just got rid of my fujifilm E-510 in hopes that this nikon L-11 would take better macro close ups. Man was i wrong. my fuji was only 5.0 megapixels compared to the nikons 6.0, but the pictures were a lot more clear and crisp. Taking the same close ups i used my fuji for the pictures from the nikon were blurry and no matter how i tried to adjust settings on this camera the pictures were blurry and the auto focus function was very slow. This camera is in my opinion a piece of JUNK!! now i have to throw this thing away and buy a good camera. I hope this helps.

Lemon Alert!

This camera is short lived. Broke down within a couple of months of purchase, and then lasted for just two years. Why Nikon would create a lemon and besmirch its own name is beyond me.

Rating :

Meh. Good enough.

This is my third L-11. They seem to last about a year until the LCD on the back cracks/breaks. If I don't get more than a year out of this last particular specimen, I may finally be forced to buy something a little up-market and, hopefully, more durable.

Other than the durability, its a good, cheap, point-and-shooter.

In contrast, the analog Nikon FG I bought in 1983 is still going strong, but I like digital because I dislike the expense and clutter of negatives/prints.

Takes Blurry Pictures!

The camera is fine except for the fact that it takes blurry pictures when up close!!! What is the point of a camera that takes blurry pictures! I would not buy this camera.

Rating :

Cheap and nasty

This camera is simply built cheaply. Our previous Nikon lasted for several years. This one lasted for several months. Stupid stuff like the clip for the battery breaking. No clip, no batteries.

It will not be replaced with another Nikon.

I can't figure out how to "fix" the indoor pictures (in a gym)...they turn out yellow. Other than that, it's a great camera.

Just an ok camera

My daughter ordered this camera in February 2008 and loved it. The picture quality is ok, but some turned out grainy and some caught mere specks of dust in the air, resulting in white orbs showing up in pictures. I'm giving it 3 stars because the lens cover broke without dropping, it just happened. She later dropped it and now the picture quality is poor. I would recommend getting something to help you grip it because it is hard to hold on to. Great camera otherwise.

Look Elsewhere

We bought this camera because, like most women, my wife wants a small camera. Expecting the best from the illustrious name "Nikon", our hopes were dashed.

The optical quality of the photographs it produced was abysmal. Most were out of focus, and those that were in focus were of very poor quality.

So we returned it for a refund, thanks for that, and bought a Canon. It is slightly larger but produces excellent photographs every time.

Stay away from this camera!

Coolpix S51.8 review

I needed to replace a much-loved, damaged Nikon Coolpix. I especially did not want a model with an external zoom lens. This camera was exactly as desired - and even a little better. Bonus 2 gig SD card was appreciated. Love the red color! Prompt delivery-even before I expected it.

Question : Is there a certain printer for the nikon digital camera?
i just bought a nikon s70 touch screen digital camera and i want to buy a printer for it, is there a specific printer i need for it and if so whats it called?

Answer:
No there is not, but I think if you want a printer, that you should check out the Epson printers. They have a selection of printers and are very well respected for quality. Also, you may want to investigate photo lab options. Below are 2 links to help you research, one is to Epson's website and the other to Mpix an online lab that offers some possibilities.Hope this helps.Mark

Question : Does anyone own a Nikon digital camera that they love or hate?
If you own a Nikon digital camera I would really like to know your thoughts on it. Just be sure to tell me what kind it is and what you like and don't like about it. I'm looking to buy a Nikon digital camera soon and I wanted some outside views on which ones are the best. Price isn't that important to me as long as the quality is worth it. I don't want to pay $700+ only to find out that I might as well have gotten a disposable camera from walmart.Thank You!

Answer:
I own a Nikon D50,and am happy with it. The only frustrating thing is that I don't yet have the skills to fully utilize its capabilities. HOWEVER-there is more variation in pix quality due to the skill of the user than in the cameras. Sort of like making love.

Question : Will the lenses and flash bulbs of an older Nikon camera be compatable with the newer digital Nikon cameras?
A family member of mine purchased an older semi-professional Nikon camera in the early '90s, and he was wondering if his flash bulb and lenses, also bought new around the same time, would be compatible with a new digital Nikon camera.Advance thanks for any help provided : )

Answer:
I am guessing you mean speedlight or flash and not flashbulb. There are probably only a small percentage of the folks on here that have actually ever used a flash bulb. But I know where you are comming from ~lol~ It depends on the speedlight and lens but probably so . Any speelight with a low enough sync voltage like the SB-25 can be used I will link a chart so you can check the flash. If you do not know the sync voltage or if the chart says its above 12 V for Nikon ( 6 volt for Canon) get a wein hot shoe to hot shoe safe sync slave and you can use any speedliht with that between the speedlight and the cameraHere is the chart http://www.botzilla.com/photo/strobeVolts.htmlNow as to lenses any lens that is AI, AF, AFd, AFs or AFi can be used On some cameras pre AI lenses can also be used ( D40/D60) Others they cannot mount on unless they have been AI converted Yours are probably AF or AFd if they were made in the 90s as they started making them in 1986 and they are still made today, AI lenses will never autofocus they were manual focuse cameras. In addition only AFs and AFi lenses will autofocus on the D40/D40x or D60AI lenses will not meter on D100, D90, D80, D79, D60,D50 or D40. They will not matrix meter on the D1 though they will center weight and spot meter, they meter on all other Nikon dSLRI routinely use lenses from the 70s on my cameras ( D40 and D300) . Feel free to email me with specifics on the camera, lens and spedlight you have gotten. BTW That old film SLR still probably takes great pictures also so keep it around in case you get a yearning to shoot film oneday

Question : Will the lens of an old nikon camera work on one of the new digital cameras?
I have a nikon 8008s camera with three lens for it. If I buy a new nikon digital camera will these lens work on the new camera?

Answer:
Lenses for an F801/8008 would all be Ai or AF/AF-D. They would almost certainly NOT be AF-I/AF-S (the F801/8008 can't operate the autofocus motor in AF-I/AF-S lenses). They would mount on any Nikon digital body. The two gotchas would be:1. Ai lenses (except for the fairly uncommon Ai-P lenses which are actually AF-D lenses without autofocus) would get no metering on anything except the D1/2/3 or D200/300/700.2. AF/AF-D lenses would not autofocus on a D40/D40x/D60Another important thing to note: Except on a D3/D700 all your film lenses will behave like longer lenses on digital bodies, due to the 1.5x crop factor of the smaller sensor.

Question : If I'm looking for a very professional Nikon digital camera, what would be a recommendation?
If I'm looking for a very professional digital camera, probably not SLR, what would be a recommendation? I need something with a very GOOD macro setting. I'm pretty sure I'll be buying a Nikon, and I'm also curious about CoolPix. This camera I plan on using for artistic photos, so I'm searching for really nice quality - not a little rectangular box used to take pictures of the family BBQ, you know? hahaha. thanks for taking the time to read this.

Answer:
I would recommend Nikon Coolpix P90- 12.1-megapixel resolution for photo-quality prints up to 16 x 20 inches- 24x optical wide-angle (35mm equivalent focal length: 26-624mm) Zoom-Nikkor ED glass lens- 3.0-inch Vari-Angle LCD and Electronic Viewfinder- Nikon's Smart Portrait System; Red-eye Fix, Face Priority AE and morehttp://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001PKEJZQ?ie=UTF8&tag=bestdeals-y-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&cr eative=390957&creativeASIN=B001PKEJZQEven you can consider this one Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ35 - 12.1-megapixel resolution- 27mm wide-angle Leica DC Vario-Elmarit lens; 18x optical zoom with POWER O.I.S.- HD movies with 1280 x 720-pixel resolution; AVCHD Lite format- 2.7-inch TFT LCD screenhttp://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002IKLJU0?ie=UTF8&tag=bestdeals-y-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789& creative=390957&creativeASIN=B002IKLJU0

Question : Can I fit my old Nikon lenses onto a new digital camera with or without an adaptor?
The Lenses I have are:Nikon AF 70-210mm f/4-5.6 D Zoom-NikkorNikon AF 35-70mm f/2.8D Could they be adapted to a new Nikon digital camera? If so, what models? Also, would it be possible to somehow use an adapter to put them onto the Cannon Digital Rebel XT?Thanks.

Answer:
I currently have used my older Nikon AF lenses with success on my D50, D70, and D200 with no problem. The only exceptions to that full compatibility rule would be the current D40, D40x, or D60, as they lack the internal autofocus motor and must be manually focused.Right now, my long tele of choice is an older Nikon 75-300mm f/4.5-5.6 AF Nikkor. There are zero compatibility problems with my current digitals. This is one of Nikon's strong points, as there is a longer history of compatibility than almost any other DSLR maker.http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/compatibility.htmhttp://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/compatibili ty-lens.htmJust a reminder, except for the new D3, with it's full-frame sensor, all other Nikon DSLR's have a 1.5 crop factor, effectively giving your lenses different perspectives in the digital world. Your 70-210mm becomes a 105-315mm and your 35-70mm, becomes a 53-105mm.As for your last question, yes, you can use an adaptor for a "Canon" XT. Hope this helps.

Question : Can I use a Nikon 35mm camera lens with any Nikon Digital Camera?
I've got a lot of great Nikon lenses but want to up grade to a digital camera. Can I get any Nikon Digital Camera to use with these lenses? My understanding is that most F-mount lenses are compatible with newer models.

Answer:
yes and no99% of all nikon 35mm lenses will fit all the current Nikon DSLRs... HOWEVER, certain things may not work on the camera when you use an older lenses metering is sometimes lost on the DSLR if you don't use a Nikon lens that has the electronics in the lens... or if you buy a D40, D40x, D60 you would not be able to use an older Nikon auto focus lens and have the auto focus work unless it was one of the AF lenses with the built in motor. The oldest AF lenses required a motor drive in the camera body to focus the lens, Nikon left that motor out of the low end cheaper DSLRs.

Question : Looking fo a good lens for good price for my Nikon digital camera?
this is my camera i needa better lens that zooms in ad out more than the 18-55 lens!!Megapixels: 6.1 Megapixels Optical Zoom: 3 X Lens System Nikon AF-S DX 18-55mm lens LCD Screen Size: 2.5 in Recording Method SDHC Memory Card, MultiMediaCard, Secure Digital (SD) Card Camera Type Digital camera - SLR

Answer:
I suggest you stick with Nikon lenses. The original manufacturers lenses are almost always better. A very popular choice right now is the Nikkor 18-200mm zoom. I provided a link below. It is not the cheapest lens out there but it has a great zoom range. For most people this is the only lens they will ever need.http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/408518-USA/Nikon_2159_18_200mm_f_3_5_5_6G_ED_IF_AF_S.html
