    Nikon S220 for Megan

I bought this camera for my daughter. She had another Nikon Coolpix S210 and lost it at Disneyland. I wanted to replace it since she uses it all of the time. She says that it is better than the other model and takes great pictures and is very easy to use. Based on her input, I would highly recommend this camera to anyone who loves to take pictures.

    Grainy and Noisy Indoor Pictures...

I am taking into account that this is just a "point and shoot" camera but even so I expect that the majority of my pictures will not come out grainy! In comparison with some of my other friends cameras such as the "Canon Powershot" the Nikon 220 just does not measure up. I have tried to adjust the camera settings, but nothing seems to work in reducing the amount of noise in the pictures.

It is especially prevalent in indoor settings or ones with low lighting. If you have some good natural lighting and you are taking pictures with this camera the woes of its poor quality are not as noticeable.

Anyway if you don't care too much about the quality of your pictures, and you want a "cute" and portable camera... you can save a few bucks and go with this one. I got mine from Costco awhile ago when it was on sale so it came with a case and some other stuff. I regret not wanting to spend a few extra dollars in order to get a better quality camera.

great small camera for kids and people with kids

We bought one of these for our 10 year old for Christmas. She was immediately able to take very good pictures with it. She also quickly figured out how to use the other features, and enjoys the video capability. The battery holds a charge for a long time, even when using the flash. Video quality is decent, even in indoor lighting. It's not a professional quality camera, but has great quality for the low price and small size. I think I'd like one of these for myself. It's tiny, but takes much better photos than other small cameras we've had (or the camera on my phone). We just ordered one for our 9 year old's birthday. She had a Kodak (can't remember the model#), which was horrible. Half the time it wouldn't even power up properly.

Complete Junk- can I give no stars?

Lens error within 3 months and they say it is not covered. No customer service at all. If you get someone without a thick accent you may be able to sort of get through the process. However look on the web and the same story 100% of the time. Your camera breaks within 6 months you send it to Nikon at your expense and they want $100 to fix a $150.00 camera for a known defect. This Camera is complete junk and Nikon are total thieves. READ THE REVIEWS ONLINE BEFORE YOU EVEN THINK ABOUT BUYING THIS CAMERA.

Customer Review :

Worth the price, best for outdoor/daylight

I bought this camera because I needed something inexpensive that I could break or lose without feeling too bad. The camera is worth the price, but don't set your expectations too high. It's a great camera to keep in your bag at all times but probably not the end-all of your camera needs.

Pros:
Price
Nikon quality, very durable
Battery life is MUCH better than most digital point-and-shoots

Cons:
Flash stinks, which is expected for an on-camera point-and-shoot
Lag time between shots in low light is painfully slow

defective 2 times

I ordered this camera in May and it would not shut off when the button was hit. I contacted the seller and returned it at my cost and was sent another the end of June. I contacted the seller when I tried to use it the second time at it was doing the first as the first camera. I have contacted the seller 3 times since and have never received any solution. It has been almost a month since I last heard from ABCDEALS.
Beware!!

Coolpix L1

I am a beginner with digital cameras, and this camera has worked great. I got it about three years ago, so I pretty much know how to use every mode on it. This camera works great for still shots and scenic pictures. Also, it takes really clear pictures of close up items, such as plants or insects. It also has many different settings on the "Scene" mode, that can allow you to take pictures of fireworks, make a panorama, and many other things easily. Also, this camera is very durable. I have dropped it countless times in the snow, in puddles, on cement, and it still works well. However, this camera is kind of hard to use for action shots. When you press the shutter button, it takes a full two seconds to take the shot. Two seconds may not seem like much, but, for example, when you want to take a shot of someone kicking a soccer ball right as it leaves the ground, after two seconds, the ball is a lot farther away. Also, it burns through battery power fast, so rechargable batteries are a good investment. Overall, I think this camera is a great choice for a person who wants good quality pictures on a camera that will last a long time.

:-))). En general excelente compra, fotos muy nitidas. Recomiendo este producto ampliamente!

Awesome Camera

I had this camera for over three years, and it never gave me any problems in those years. Just recently it broke though, it doesn't turn on, so I just figured it was time for an upgrade since they have all new cool features on the new cameras. Nikon has always been my camera brand favorite, and I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants a simple point and shoot digital camera.

Questions & Answers
Question : Will the lens of an old nikon camera work on one of the new digital cameras?
I have a nikon 8008s camera with three lens for it. If I buy a new nikon digital camera will these lens work on the new camera?

Answer:
Lenses for an F801/8008 would all be Ai or AF/AF-D. They would almost certainly NOT be AF-I/AF-S (the F801/8008 can't operate the autofocus motor in AF-I/AF-S lenses). They would mount on any Nikon digital body. The two gotchas would be:1. Ai lenses (except for the fairly uncommon Ai-P lenses which are actually AF-D lenses without autofocus) would get no metering on anything except the D1/2/3 or D200/300/700.2. AF/AF-D lenses would not autofocus on a D40/D40x/D60Another important thing to note: Except on a D3/D700 all your film lenses will behave like longer lenses on digital bodies, due to the 1.5x crop factor of the smaller sensor.

Question : Do I need a special flash for my Nikon Digital Camera?
I need a larger flash for my Nikon Coolpix 4500 digital Camera with a hot shoe, and would love to be able to use the trusty Vivitar Thrysistor 283 that worked so well with my old SLR, but the Nikon manual warns that flashes not specifically made for Nikon Digital Cameras may damage the camera through some kind of electronic feedback. Are they just trying to sell me a $300 flash unit, or is this a valid concern?

Answer:
Yup, it is possible for an old flash to fry a camera due to the trigger voltages. You can check this site for more info on that http://www.botzilla.com/photo/strobeVolts.html. Cross reference your flash against the table there. In any case, using an older flash would probably mean a loss of i-ttl (for nikon) or e-ttl (for canon). You would need to use auto/manual flash then. In addition, the camera may also act funny (e.g. my old metz on my canon 20D will always give me a 1/200 f5.6 on program mode. I have to use it in manual mode instead.

Question : Will the lenses and flash bulbs of an older Nikon camera be compatable with the newer digital Nikon cameras?
A family member of mine purchased an older semi-professional Nikon camera in the early '90s, and he was wondering if his flash bulb and lenses, also bought new around the same time, would be compatible with a new digital Nikon camera.Advance thanks for any help provided : )

Answer:
I am guessing you mean speedlight or flash and not flashbulb. There are probably only a small percentage of the folks on here that have actually ever used a flash bulb. But I know where you are comming from ~lol~ It depends on the speedlight and lens but probably so . Any speelight with a low enough sync voltage like the SB-25 can be used I will link a chart so you can check the flash. If you do not know the sync voltage or if the chart says its above 12 V for Nikon ( 6 volt for Canon) get a wein hot shoe to hot shoe safe sync slave and you can use any speedliht with that between the speedlight and the cameraHere is the chart http://www.botzilla.com/photo/strobeVolts.htmlNow as to lenses any lens that is AI, AF, AFd, AFs or AFi can be used On some cameras pre AI lenses can also be used ( D40/D60) Others they cannot mount on unless they have been AI converted Yours are probably AF or AFd if they were made in the 90s as they started making them in 1986 and they are still made today, AI lenses will never autofocus they were manual focuse cameras. In addition only AFs and AFi lenses will autofocus on the D40/D40x or D60AI lenses will not meter on D100, D90, D80, D79, D60,D50 or D40. They will not matrix meter on the D1 though they will center weight and spot meter, they meter on all other Nikon dSLRI routinely use lenses from the 70s on my cameras ( D40 and D300) . Feel free to email me with specifics on the camera, lens and spedlight you have gotten. BTW That old film SLR still probably takes great pictures also so keep it around in case you get a yearning to shoot film oneday

Question : Can you use Nikon lenses for film cameras on your digital camera?
I was told that Nikon digital camera lenses are interchangeable with Nikon film camera lenses...the difference being that lenses made for the film cameras cost significantly less than those made for the digital cameras. Does anyone know if you this is true?

Answer:
I was told that Nikon digital camera lenses are interchangeable with Nikon film camera lenses...the difference being that lenses made for the film cameras cost significantly less than those made for the digital cameras. Does anyone know if you this is true?

Question : Does anyone own a Nikon digital camera that they love or hate?
If you own a Nikon digital camera I would really like to know your thoughts on it. Just be sure to tell me what kind it is and what you like and don't like about it. I'm looking to buy a Nikon digital camera soon and I wanted some outside views on which ones are the best. Price isn't that important to me as long as the quality is worth it. I don't want to pay $700+ only to find out that I might as well have gotten a disposable camera from walmart.Thank You!

Answer:
I own a Nikon D50,and am happy with it. The only frustrating thing is that I don't yet have the skills to fully utilize its capabilities. HOWEVER-there is more variation in pix quality due to the skill of the user than in the cameras. Sort of like making love.

Question : Will optional lenses 70-300 etc from a 35 mm nikon 4004 work if i buy a nikon digital camera body?
I have mulitiple lenses from my old 35mm nikon 4004 and I want to use them with a digital camera but I dont know if it can be done...any idea?

Answer:
All of the current Nikon DSLRs except the D40, D40x, D60 are fully compatible (meter and auto-focus) with AF, AF-D lenses from a N4004 including the AF Zoom-NIKKOR 70-300mm f/4-5.6G lens. The D40, D40x, D60 cameras meter but do not auto-focus AF and AF-D lenses.

Question : If i buy the SB-800 for my Nikon digital camera do i need an umbrella or softbox also?
To take professional pictures with good lighting. Also, which Nikon model digital camera would you recommend?? For portraits/indoor outdoor photography

Answer:
I picked up a LightSphere from Gary Fong for my SB-600, it gives a nice diffused light source. I shoot a fair amount of portraits and like my D90 for that. Good image quality that won't break the bank. For even better the D300s is a higher build quality.

Question : If I'm looking for a very professional Nikon digital camera, what would be a recommendation?
If I'm looking for a very professional digital camera, probably not SLR, what would be a recommendation? I need something with a very GOOD macro setting. I'm pretty sure I'll be buying a Nikon, and I'm also curious about CoolPix. This camera I plan on using for artistic photos, so I'm searching for really nice quality - not a little rectangular box used to take pictures of the family BBQ, you know? hahaha. thanks for taking the time to read this.

Answer:
I would recommend Nikon Coolpix P90- 12.1-megapixel resolution for photo-quality prints up to 16 x 20 inches- 24x optical wide-angle (35mm equivalent focal length: 26-624mm) Zoom-Nikkor ED glass lens- 3.0-inch Vari-Angle LCD and Electronic Viewfinder- Nikon's Smart Portrait System; Red-eye Fix, Face Priority AE and morehttp://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001PKEJZQ?ie=UTF8&tag=bestdeals-y-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&cr eative=390957&creativeASIN=B001PKEJZQEven you can consider this one Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ35 - 12.1-megapixel resolution- 27mm wide-angle Leica DC Vario-Elmarit lens; 18x optical zoom with POWER O.I.S.- HD movies with 1280 x 720-pixel resolution; AVCHD Lite format- 2.7-inch TFT LCD screenhttp://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002IKLJU0?ie=UTF8&tag=bestdeals-y-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789& creative=390957&creativeASIN=B002IKLJU0

Question : can a nikon slr 35mm lens be used on a nikon digital camera?
i have a nikon n55 film slr and i'm looking to buy a nikon d70 or d80. i have two lenses, one of which is a 70-200mm (af). both the n55 and d70/80 use a 'g' lens mount but i'm wondering if there are disadvantages to using a film lens on a digital camera. thanks in advance!

Answer:
Absolutely .. that is what is so good about Nikon's .. even the old manual focus lenses from 1959 can be used with a little $15 AI modification ... any AI lens forward can be used. I use all my old Nikkor lenses on my D100 and D200 DSLR's.Since your N55 is a auto-focus camera, all of its lenses will work on the D70 or D80 DSLRThere are NO disadvantages using 35mm Nikon "film" lenses on a DSLR
