Nikon's stylish and simple Coolpix S570 combines 12.0 effective megapixels with a 5x optical Wide Angle Zoom-NIKKOR glass lens for stunning prints as large as 16x20 inches. The sleek, all-metal design makes it easy to carry, and the incredible, bright 2.7-inch LCD makes it easy to compose and share pictures. The Coolpix S570, with Nikon's 4 Way VR Image Stabilization, combines four technologies that get you sharp, crisp pictures. The Coolpix S570 features Nikon's Smart Portrait System that finds faces, removes red-eye, softens fine skin lines, fires the shutter when your subject smiles and warns you if they blink.

Quality Camera with Pizazz!!
I used to think that I didn't need a digital camera because my cell phone had a camera which was convenient and always with me. However, I missed out on taking a lot of great shots on my last vacation because a cell phone camera just doesn't produce high caliber pictures. So I researched various brands of digital cameras and finally decided on the Nikon Coolpix because it had all the features for taking great pictures; most importantly, the price was very reasonable.
Finally, there is what I call the "cute factor". I wanted a camera that was compact, came in a variety of cool colors, and looked "cute". The Nikon ranks high on my pizazz scale!
Thank you, Nikon!

Don't believe the hype
I am not a professional photographer, I take pictures of my kids primarily. I was looking for a point and shoot that takes good still pictures for vacations. I was tired of hauling my heavy Nikon D50 and associated accessories everywhere. Well, after one 4 day trip of average to useless pictures, I am sending it back. I am in disbelief that all of these reviews are so favorable for this product.
1. The picture quality is NOT GOOD: It takes ok outdoor pictures, but they lack depth. Indoors - the flash is useless. It will either add no light, or wash out the light colors and the subject's faces, even in portrait mode.
2. S-L-O-W: If you don't mind waiting 5 full seconds between pictures, this camera might be for you. I used a class 4 memory card and it still takes 5 seconds to write to the card and focus again.
3. Battery life is average at best and you cannot charge the battery in the camera.
4. Actually something positive: the menu and buttons are really easy to use, the LCD is nice. The power button is finicky though and too small.
5. BEWARE turning it off too quickly: I ruined at least 10% of my pictures by turning the camera off too quickly after taking a picture. It will write the picture to the card but will overlay the colors causing it too look like an old film shot that got double exposed.
In short, I highly advise not buying this camera unless you are going to take still shots outdoors in good light and don't care about actually seeing the eyes of your subjects.

This is a great little camera. Easy to use with very good quality photos and feature rich software. Definitely a good value puchase.

Tandon camera
I purchased this camera for size and convenience. I also have a Nikon Coolpix 8800 which many times is too bulky for my use. The smaller Coolpix can go with me everywhere I go and remains in my pocket. I cannot think how it can get any better than having my "tandem Coolpix cameras!!"

Nikon Coolpix S570 12 MP Digital Camera
I am disappointed with this camera. It arrived on time, properly packaged.
I am not happy with the picture quality, especially the color and auto-focus feature. I am comparing this camera to my old Panasonic I-Palm with much less zoom.
This camera does have good zoom, but I have had a very difficult time getting it to focus for close-up shots. I had an opportunity to shoot a little bird close-up and could NOT get a properly focused picture out of this camera. I set it on auto and then when I was not able to get a good shot, I tried adjusting it to close-up and still was not able to get a properly focused picture.
My old I-Palm did not have the 5X zoom, however, it was able to focus clearly on close-up shots and for distance shots the auto-focus was flawless! I got some great pics with it.
I purchased this camera to carry with me and have ready for unexpected shots. The size is great: it fits in my purse and is lightweight so I can carry easily when hiking.
It does advance very slowly between shots. I am sure the 5X makes it take longer for the memory to record the shot.
Regarding color - things tend to skew to yellow. I have tried adjusting it and get some improvement, but not much. I am comparing it again to the I-Palm and my nicer Panasonic FZ35.
I chose this Nikon over the similar Panasonic model because I already had (2) Panasonic cameras (which I am very satisfied with!), and thought I should give something else a try. I wish I had stayed with Panasonic.
This camera is ok. It is convenient to carry all the time, but I have yet to get a great photo out of it.

CAMERA, COOLPIX S3000, SILVER, 12 MP
Customer Review :
Overall an awful quality point&shoot camera
I purchased the S3000 coolpix Nikon last week and am returning it today. Some photos are blurry despite keeping my hands stable, the auto focus is bad, the zooming in&out is not smooth but rather difficult to handle, the flash takes far too long, and reaction time is very slow. Also, there is a photo which the background got "cut" onto/overlaps very sharply (not a blurry bleed) the thigh of the person - what is that?? 12MP is a joke when quality is so poor. The LCD screen is great though. Overall, this camera is the worst digital camera I have used, and I have used and owned many point&shoots (of the same $$ value and less); my digital camera from 10 yrs ago with less MP took fabulous photos in comparison to this cheap quality camera.

Great Little Camera
This camera is a great deal! The price is right, cheaper than anywhere else. It's so small, fits in your pocket, and the pictures are great...very very clear!

Produces good video
This camera takes perfect pictures in bright light, very close to original. In low light pictures tend to be little bit yellowish and dark even with flash. It produces perfect video with continuous auto-focus in AVI format. So, even Windows Vista can show it without need for additional decoding.

A good camera
The Nikon COOLPIX S3000 has all the features as advertised. D lighting is excellent as well as the automatic scene selection and BSS. However, there is one flaw i have noticed in the little time that i have had the camera. When the zoom feature is enabled some photos come out smudged. Parties/people that have taken pictures with my camera also encounter this problem intermittently. Not all photos come out clear. I have yet to determine the cause of this smudged look as hands appear stable when taking photo. Notwithstanding this one flaw, when pictures are clear they are really clean and beautiful. I am satisfied with the camera overall.

Awesome Camera!
The Nikon Coolpix is a wonderful camera! We had to replace ours that went "missing". The newer model with the larger touch screen is a nice improvement. We purchased through Amazon as we could buy it for $30 less than in the local store.

Overall, a great point-and-shoot
I've had Nikon point-and-shoots in the past, and this is an improvement with the higher resolution, the nifty features and the touch screen. I like how the touchscreen makes navigating the menus a quick affair instead of the endless menu surfing of the past, and the resolution is a high enough quality for me to be happy with while I bide my time for a nice SLR. The slim body makes it easy to slip the camera into pockets and purses, and the camera is relatively lightweight. It has enough features and options to choose from that I can get the photos I want in less-than-ideal environments (low lighting, taking pictures around glass/mirrors, backlighting, etc.).
the reason for the 4 stars: The Smart Portrait feature is kind of annoying. It works great half the time but only under very specific conditions: good environment lighting, clear subject(s), and you better be quick and not accidentally close your eyes! Also, my husband has facial hair, and the camera doesn't know where to focus, and therefore hardly takes a picture of him. I have simply turned the feature off.
If anything changes as we use the camera more, I'll update the review.

Great camera
Bought this camera the day before going on an all day garden tour & didn't have time to read all the instructions, so I winged it. Everything worked fine except couldn't find or figure out where the zoom control was. The Quick Guide didn't mention this function, so there I was, shooting away in regular mode, until I happened upon a young lady (unknown to me) also using a digital camera. Took her all of 2 seconds to find the slider on the shutter button. Duh. This replaced an Olympus D-580 which I disliked for the really small display window. Wow! What a difference. I love this Nikon. Can't comment on all the other goodies this Coolpix S4000 has since I haven't had it long enough to explore and set up the rest of the functions. So far, it rocks!!! Horrible video time(s)
Takes decent pics. and OK video shots but limits the time available to each shooting mode, regardless of SD/SDHC card size, as such: HD 720p @ 12m33s; TV movie 640 @ 25m 8s & Small size 320 @ 29m 0s. I've tried the 2gb card it came with, an 8gb PNY Optima SDHC 120 HD (Best Buy @ $[...]), and a 16gb Polaroid (by PNY) Micro SD (with adapter) (Fry's @ $[...] after rebate) with no difference in recording times. Yeah, it'll allow multiple recordings but you'd have to join them together on your PC. I would not recommend this unless you only had [...] to spend.

Nice little camera
I was looking for small camera that does good video; to replace my Canon SD850. The SD850 was nice but the video is bit fuzzy, specially with zooming. The S6000 does very good job with the video, and in HD 780 mode. I replayed the video on my HD TV and found it very detail and just like a regular HD movie. The picture quality is very detail and sharp. I have several printouts, Canon appears to be 'warm' comparing to the Nikon's. Switching different mode is easy enough, you don't need to dig down the menu to find whatever you need. I like the scroll view when viewing stored pictures. The videos are saved in MOV file, I view it with VLC Media player; I haven't bother to load the software came with the camera. You do need to buy your own min-HDMI cable but it is not that expensive. The only thing I don't really like is that you cannot use the zoom while in video mode. So set up the zoom level before start recording because you cannot change it once recording started. Also, don't use the continuous focus feature on video, it will try to refocus and miss the subject. Fix the focus on video and it will do very well.

Great pictures, small & convenient..... Only one major problem.
I am pleased with the pictures for a point and shoot camera. It is also easy to use.
The only problem.... It constantly shuts off in the middle of viewing pictures taking pictures, anything you do it shuts off. Its not that I didn't charge it either. It was fully charged and still shutting itself off constantly.

So Small And Yet . . .
Don't let the size of this little fellow fool you. Although basically a point-and-shoot, this small camera produces pictures that are comparable to the bigger models. In fact, it was a bigger model that led me to the COOLPIX S6000. I own, and love, my Nikon D300. The pictures it takes are nothing short of amazing. However, the weight and bulk of it sometimes get in the way of life. Sure you shoot pictures that are professional but there are times when you need to capture the moment but not with all the creative functionality weighing you down. That's where the S6000 shines. The Nikon technology and genius with photography are evident with the end product. True, you don't get to compensate for a lot of things and the price is a bit stiff for a second camera but it is one that you will use continually - either by itself or one that is easier to transport.

Best Mother's Day Gift!
I got this for mother's day and I absolutely love it. It is really easy to maneuver through even though there are a LOT of functions! I really wanted the touch screen of the 4000s, but I'm glad I got this one. The scroll wheel is really convenient! The colors are vibrant. It's really hard to get a bad picture with this camera!

Bad Pictures
We purchased this camera from Best Buy. Ours actually came in a kit along with a carrying case and a memory card. After one week we returned the camera.
We took about 100-200 pictures on the camera and we just did not really like the pictures it took. Pictures were blurry, pictures were soft, terrible with action shots. It did not have a "sports" or "action" setting like most cameras that I have owned. Also there was a delay from when you pressed the button until it actually took your picture. We have two little girls that move a lot and trying to catch smiles or other actions would not work with this delay. Overall we just didn't like the pictures.
The kit is silly as well. The case is nice, but the storage card that they include is not adequate. In the owners manual for the camera they recommend a Class 6 card in order for the HD movie taking to work properly, the card that comes with the kit is Class 4.
We ended up buying the Panasonic ZR3 and it is a great camera so far!

Nikon Coolpix L20 digital camera.
Customer Review :
Poor Camera, LCD conked off within days of using
Bought this camera online from Dell because of a nice deal. Sadly this camera's LCD failed within a couple of days of using it on a vacation. Just has white vertical lines and no menu comes up. Took about 300 photos and videos in those 2 days. Some were good, but some were darker even though lighting was not an issue and similar photos at same time came out ok. Also takes blur photos. Again in a sequence of photos some were ok and some blurred. All in all why do you want to waste your time if the photos you take (precious) do not come out okay. Better to get a reliable camera than a cheap one. Till now my Nikon opinion based on seeing the SLRs was top marks. Now not so.

What's worse the camera or the company?
This camera operated properly for about two months. Then one day I started getting a battery error message. I couldn't do anything with the camera so I replaced the batteries with other new ones I had. The same problem, "battery exhausted" message would appear on the screen. The camera was completely unfunctional. I went and bought more batteries at the store, just to be sure it wasn't actually the batteries. The same error message.
So now I have to go through the agravation to return the camera to Nikon Service Department. I packaged it up shipped it back to them and received my same camera back in about 2 weeks. I took it out the box, pushed the power button the camera immediately turned a solid color and the screen was locked. I couldn't power the camera off or on either. The only was to reboot it is to remove the batteries.
I went the whole same scenario of trying different batteries and nothing worked. The screen would turn a solid color or I would get the same message, "battery exhausted" I just could get over the fact that the repair person, did not even bother to try to turn the camera on and see if it worked.
I tried calling their customer no service number and of course I get someone who can barely speak english. I demanded to speak to a supervisor and they refuse to replace my camera with a new one. Maybe Nikon has good products and bad, but I'll never find out that is for sure. I would never buy anything from this company ever again.

It's a long shot...
if you get a picture that isn't burry. This is undoubtedly the worst camera that I have used (not just owned) in my 30 years of enjoying photography. I had an earlier HP point and shoot that was terrific. Wanted an easily totable camera as opposed to the heavy gear of my slrs & lens. As the saying goes, your best camera is the one you have with you. Not so with this one. Maybe one in ten shots is passable and forget about indoors. There is no accounting for when a pic is blurry or when the flash decides to work. A friend also purchased this model and has the same opinion. What can I say except, this is an un-Coolpix, keep on shopping and pass this one by.

WORST DIGITAL CAMERA I HAVE EVER OWNED
Well my frustration with this camera came to a head last week on our trip to the Smoky Mountains.... I took 7 pictures of Bears and 6 of them turned out blurry. We also went to the Nascar speed park and ALL of the pictures from there turned out blurry. bottom line unless you are standing still this camera sucks completely. i have tried every mode on this camera - auto/easy auto/running/portrait/landscape - you name it it simply isn't possible to take a picture of anything that is in motion. A complete P.O.S. also, anytime you ask someone "Hey, can you take our picture?" - you have to give them a lesson and tell them to "hold it EXTREMELY STILL - then push the buttom 1/2 way down - then the light will turn green - then push the button the rest of the way down" - it is effin impossible to teach someone how to use this p.o.s. i am trying to return mine to Nikon for a full refund. simply horrible - the worst digital camera i have ever owned BY A MILE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Questions & Answers
Question : Do I need a special flash for my Nikon Digital Camera?
I need a larger flash for my Nikon Coolpix 4500 digital Camera with a hot shoe, and would love to be able to use the trusty Vivitar Thrysistor 283 that worked so well with my old SLR, but the Nikon manual warns that flashes not specifically made for Nikon Digital Cameras may damage the camera through some kind of electronic feedback. Are they just trying to sell me a $300 flash unit, or is this a valid concern?
Answer:
Yup, it is possible for an old flash to fry a camera due to the trigger voltages. You can check this site for more info on that http://www.botzilla.com/photo/strobeVolts.html. Cross reference your flash against the table there. In any case, using an older flash would probably mean a loss of i-ttl (for nikon) or e-ttl (for canon). You would need to use auto/manual flash then. In addition, the camera may also act funny (e.g. my old metz on my canon 20D will always give me a 1/200 f5.6 on program mode. I have to use it in manual mode instead.

Question : What is the BEST Canon or Nikon digital camera for MOVIE's w/SOUND and in LONG LENGTHS?
Hey there! I am looking for a Canon or Nikon digital camera that records long, good quality movies with sound. Can you recommend?
Answer:
I would get the Canon Powershot TX1. Most compact digital cameras shoot video at 640 x 480 but this one shoots at 1280 x 720. That's a huge difference. The sound is in CD quality. It can shoot nonstop up to 4GB (which is only 13 minutes as the highest setting).

Question : Can I fit my old Nikon lenses onto a new digital camera with or without an adaptor?
The Lenses I have are:Nikon AF 70-210mm f/4-5.6 D Zoom-NikkorNikon AF 35-70mm f/2.8D Could they be adapted to a new Nikon digital camera? If so, what models? Also, would it be possible to somehow use an adapter to put them onto the Cannon Digital Rebel XT?Thanks.
Answer:
I currently have used my older Nikon AF lenses with success on my D50, D70, and D200 with no problem. The only exceptions to that full compatibility rule would be the current D40, D40x, or D60, as they lack the internal autofocus motor and must be manually focused.Right now, my long tele of choice is an older Nikon 75-300mm f/4.5-5.6 AF Nikkor. There are zero compatibility problems with my current digitals. This is one of Nikon's strong points, as there is a longer history of compatibility than almost any other DSLR maker.http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/compatibility.htmhttp://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/compatibili ty-lens.htmJust a reminder, except for the new D3, with it's full-frame sensor, all other Nikon DSLR's have a 1.5 crop factor, effectively giving your lenses different perspectives in the digital world. Your 70-210mm becomes a 105-315mm and your 35-70mm, becomes a 53-105mm.As for your last question, yes, you can use an adaptor for a "Canon" XT. Hope this helps.

Answer:
No there is not, but I think if you want a printer, that you should check out the Epson printers. They have a selection of printers and are very well respected for quality. Also, you may want to investigate photo lab options. Below are 2 links to help you research, one is to Epson's website and the other to Mpix an online lab that offers some possibilities.Hope this helps.Mark

Question : Does anyone own a Nikon digital camera that they love or hate?
If you own a Nikon digital camera I would really like to know your thoughts on it. Just be sure to tell me what kind it is and what you like and don't like about it. I'm looking to buy a Nikon digital camera soon and I wanted some outside views on which ones are the best. Price isn't that important to me as long as the quality is worth it. I don't want to pay $700+ only to find out that I might as well have gotten a disposable camera from walmart.Thank You!
Answer:
I own a Nikon D50,and am happy with it. The only frustrating thing is that I don't yet have the skills to fully utilize its capabilities. HOWEVER-there is more variation in pix quality due to the skill of the user than in the cameras. Sort of like making love.
