Good overall value
Great camera for the price, good features,so far no issues seems like good quality. Would like to see better battery options, cause it does eat up battery life pretty quick.

Apraiser one
This camera is a great value. The only fault is that the feature buttons are in an awkward place. I keep pushing them by accident. Hopefully after a little more use I will get the hang of the proper way to hold the camera. I am a residential real estate appraiser and highly recommend this product as a work tool. To date I have not used the video feature , so I did not rate this function.

EYE PICE?
I am looking into getting this camera really soon and I am wondering if this camera has an eye pice already installed in it or if I have to pay to get one installed when I get the camera please help me as soon as possible please.

Great camera for the price
Takes excellent pictures while zooming in at max. This is what I was looking for all along.

Very good value
I am an amateur who would prefer an SLR, but am too cheap to buy one. This camera is close to an SLR. I would like to be able to attach a shutter release cable instead of pushing a button and possibly shaking the camera during macro and zoom.
So far I have been taking mostly super macro of flowers and bugs and they are VERY beautiful. I display them on my computer walpaper slide show and the detail and clarity are beyond my expectations.
I have been taking most pictures with camera attached to a monopod which helps stabilize the camera.
This camera is very easy to use, seems to have a very good lense. I love it.

The camera is great but takes poor low-light photos
I've taken this camera snowboarding at over 12,000 feet in Breckenridge CO and snorkeling in Hawaii and I've never had an issue. The camera performs well outdoors and in places other cameras would never go. I've added a float strap and left it floating in a pool while it was passed around for great family photos. The panoramic feature works great and is easy to master. My only complaint about the camera is the indoor or low-light performance. Once it steps up the ISO the photos get very grainy very quickly. I would suggest forcing the flash on when you're indoors for better results but otherwise I've been very happy.

Finally a camera that I don't have to be careful with!
I have seen many negative reviews for this product and I couldn't disagree more. Sure it doesn't take the pictures a big bulky cannon takes, but thats exactly it, ITS NOT A BIG BULKY CAMERA. It's portability is awesome because you don't even need a case. And as for the reviews where "It's not waterproof!" was said, this is probably a rare occurance. People always review a product to "warn" people if they've had a negative experience. If everything is fine, most people don't. So don't let the negative reviews change your mind. Wouldn't you rather have a camera that you would ACTUALLY TAKE WITH YOU ALL THE TIME because you're not afraid of scratching it or breaking it. What good are cameras with amazing picture quality if you never have them around to use them? I know 3 other people with this camera and everyone thinks they're great!

Pretty good...
This worked well up to 30 feet. I did not try to go beyond that with this camera. The only problem I had is that I left the camera on so I could snap a picture right away if I saw something that interested me and the fully charged battery ran out before the dive was complete. Too bad the battery would not last through at least the duration of a dive so you could change the battery between dives and not miss anything. Other than that, it is good for most shallow dives.

The perfect camera for my lifestyle
I am an Orvis Endorsed fly fishing guide. I also a bird hunting guide. I am a CEO, a mother, a grandmother, a wanna be book author, a real estate agent, web designer, I trade stocks. I live well and play hard and I try never to own anything that is fragile. It does not fit my lifestyle. When my husband (a photographer in the 70s to early 90s saw this camera in Best Buy, he proclaimed "You need this camera". So we bought it and I loved it!! Several of the images in our company's website were taken with this camera![...] Then, I lost it. It was like losing my best friend. I have taken that camera everywhere! I carried when I guide, fall in rivers, sit on it, drop it, you name it. I went three weeks in mourning. I decided to buy a newer version but instead stayed with my tried and true favorite. I ordered my new one from Amazon; it was here lightning fast. But late last week, I lost my new one. In a frantic search, I ripped apart my office and car. I find my old one. Whew, at least I have a camera. Yesterday while guiding fly fishermen on the Upper Connecticut River, I slide my foot into my waders and what is in the feet of my waders? My new camera. So now I have two!! So if you want a camera thats easy to use that you do not have to be gentle with and yet offers a good quality image, this is the one!

Great camera
Takes great photos. Took with me on a cruise. With the photo card installed i was able to take nearly 700 pictures. Everyone who viewed my pictures thought they were great. You need to make sure you have the back up battery if you are going to take any video. Because of its durability I have taken it everywhere - kayaking, ziplining, hiking in the rain which allows the ability to catch great memories.

OLYMPUS 262851 12.3 Megapixel E-PL1 Pen Camera (Gold with M. Zuiko 14-42mm lens)
Customer Review :
Best camera around
This camera is just too close to be perfect. I originally had my sights on the pen e-p2 and the panasonic G1, but I decided on the e-pl1. Not because of the price, but for the flash (not present on the e-p2) and the bulb mode (limited to 4 minutes on the G1). The build quality is excellent, and is more heavy than I imagined. The sensor quality is VERY good! I had a Canon SX before, DSLR, and the quality is even better, especially at high ISO modes. And just as they say the auto mode of this camera really works. I used to shoot almost always in Aperture priority mode, or at least in Program. With this gadget I almost never leave the auto mode. True, I do photography for hobby, but I know my way around cameras.
The only issue I have with it is that for now there is no cheap lens to buy with a high field of view. Since it is micro 4/3 you get 2x of the focal distance, so the kit lens performs like a 28-84mm, and you will find yourself walking quite some steps back to get your subjects into the picture. But the video mode on its own helps to forget this. Before this camera I never shoot video. Now I find my photo albums are a multimedia mix, since the steps form one to the other almost disappear with this unit.
If you got tired of carrying around your bag with the DSLR, lenses, flash, etc this is a MUST BUY.

Excellent Photos, just not quite DSLR IQ, but very close.
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R195TSAV80RI87 **Note** Cloudy, gloomy day when I took video clip, just before a storm), also, notice the LACK of WIND NOISE. Ususally whenever I take video clips with other cameras, there is that annoying wind noise, the sound on clips I have taken with this camera are clear, gotta love that!
IQ is very nice out of this Olympus EPL-1 camera, even on auto with no adjustments. I shoot with Nikon D700, D90 and D40 for most things, until now. I love the Nikon DSLR's but have found sometimes I just don't want to drag them with, to heavy, lots of accessories, (filters, lenses, etc...) needed to capture the right shot. In fact, I got the D40 because it is was one of the smallest, lightest DSLR's, but attach a nice zoon lens, and it still becomes cumbersome to carry to some events. So I got this camera in hopes of feeling I could get excellent photos from a more portable device, and so far it has not disappointed. IQ is not quite as good as the Nikon DSLR's I shoot with, but if you don't shoot with a DSLR you will be VERY pleased with the photo quality. I have had several instances where my son had a wrestling match and you are moving quickly from mat to mat, and I didn't bring my DSLR because I knew it would be such a hassel. Or out of town at a baseball game, who wants to sit on the bleachers with the other parents and a large camera bag. This camera tucks nicely in my medium sized purse even with an extra 45-200 micro four thirds lens. It is so easy to have with for capturing shots, no need to lug around a DSLR.
I have shot with a lot of point and shoots, some of which I still hang onto and use because of their excellent IQ (for a point & shoot), and convenience. I have a Panasonic FZ35 and Canon SX200 and I wouldn't give them up, but this camera is a step up from those and my first choice (it is my go to camera)NOW! Conveinent check, HD video check, lightweight and portable check (at least compared to my DSLR's), excellent IQ check, cool art filters to add whimsy to photos check. I think if you are moving up from a point and shoot you will be WOWED by the IQ, and anyone who shoots with a DSLR will feel it is great IQ for it's class, NOT DSLR IQ, but comes close, and in some instances, very hard to distingush between to similar photos taken with a DSLR and this camera.
Just know that if you are stepping up from a point and shoot, you will probablly find yourself desiring an additional lens (for more zoom). Switching them out is easy, and the micro four thirds lenses are much smaller and lighter then the four thirds lenses used on a DSLR, and even with a zoom lens on this camera, I have found it surprisingly lighter than I would have thought.
I am enjoying using this camera on a daily basis, and when I travel next I am taking it and leaving the DSLR's at home. I am confident in its photo quality, and I can just put it in my purse to go through security, instead of dragging my photo bag (which is huge and has 6 lenses in it, with multiple accessories), that bag will stay home next time. I really think this will make my vacations more fun to shoot. When I went to vegas last year, my DSLR stayed in the hotel most of the time, because I didn't want to lug it around even with just one lens on the camera and nothing else. DSLR's just get to heavy after a while, and there is nowhere to put it decently when I was shopping, gambling, eating, etc... without having a camera bag with (just hate it when people go around all day with large cameras hanging from there necks, I'm just not into that). When I went on a cruise, every time we got off the boat I took a little point and shoot with me for the same reasons, who wants to spend more time lugging a camera than enjoying the islands. I am really happy that I will be able to bring this and just throw it in my purse, I carry that around anyways, what a delight to have a camera that takes great photos, and doesn't become like a 2nd child you have to watch and lug around!
For shooting weddings and events, yes a DSLR will always be my goto camera, but for everything else, it is the Olympus epl-1! Too most individuals, you will find the photos are excellent and wonder why anyone would spend more, unless you expect to be making a living off your camera (photo journalist, pro. photographer, etc...), stick with this and you won't even notice the difference, and your friends won't either.

I love it!
I had my doubts about this camera after reading a ton of online camera reviews. I decided that reviews always have to be taken with a grain of salt, so I ordered it.
I love this camera, it's fun to use. The autofocus is fine.. It's not a DSLR and so it doesn't perform as well as a high end camera would. However, after updating to firmware 1.1 the autofocus works pretty well. I am a little disappointed that it doesn't have an AF Lamp. That would have improved low light performance greatly.. But i guess you can't have everything.
I think like a previous reviewer said, you need to be honest about how you will use the camera and what your expectations are. For me, this camera is a gem, but i'm not a pro looking for exceptional results. I just want to snap a few great pictures and have some fun.
Most of my images are of animals - i.e. Dogs and cats. The camera is just fine for this. I know some reviews say otherwise. However, as any pet owner or parent knows animals and kids are unpredictable. There is no guarantee of a perfect shot with even the highest end camera. When photographing active and rambunctious subjects, it's partly about knowing your subject and partly luck. For it's class. this camera does pretty darn well.
I have also read that people thought the camera felt flimsy and cheap because it was mostly plastic. That's simply not true. It feels no less plastic than any DSLR. Honestly, it's heavier than I imagined and built like a brick - very sturdy. Unless you are just really rough on your gear, I can't imagine this camera falling apart on you.. even with everyday use.
Some say the flash isn't that powerful, but this camera seems to do a good job in lowlight situations. It would do even better in low light with the 20mm panasonic lens or with a faster manual focus lens. I , myself, am using a 50mm 1.8 lens from an old film camera. As far as the flash, it's still pretty bright. You are after all trying to take a picture, not make your subject blind.
The art filters & multi exposure options are a lot of fun. I can't wait to get some more lenses ( such as a lensbaby) and go out into the world with them. My favorite is the grainy B&W with the Diorama mode being second. If you have doubts about the art modes, you can always shoot in Jpg + raw and get the best of both worlds.
I am only giving this 4 stars because i DO wish it came with an EVF. I think it's silly that i have to pay almost $200 more for this very basic feature. I wish it had stereo sound like it's big sister the e-p2 as well.
Also as a Mac user, I am a little disappointed the included software isn't compatible. It took me a few minutes ( due to bad links on the Oly website) to find the OM2 software ( I will only use for panoramas, personally).

The E-PL1 is the perfect Assistant SLR. (or is it Assistant to the SLR :)
I spent several months on trying different cameras to co-reside with my trusty Kodak Z712 IS that was still producing wonderful pictures at a very high success rate. During the process I also learnt a lot about them and having kids, I was very interested in the quality aspect of the images since I did not want to lose the well, Kodak moments :)
Just like most consumer electronics, everybody has different needs. I learnt that you cannot have everything in one camera because if you did, the industry would shut down and quit making any more upgrades.
Here are some key things that I learnt that I want to share with people scratching their heads between cameras and SLRs vs P&S.
1) It is ALL about the sensor. NO MATTER what P&S you get, no matter what is built around it (touchscreen, front screen, a tank (G-10), uber zoom lens, you will ALWAYS be stuck with a small sensor compared to SLRs and therefore always have a liability in low light and high ISO pictures. You need to look at sensors like Dart Boards. Bear with me, I am trying to clarify this. Imagine you have two dartboards that you are aiming at. One is a much smaller dartboard where the circles of quality (points) are pretty small and one which is 7-8X times the size of the first dartboard with correspondingly larger circles including an easier to hit Bullseye (the best picture). The odds of you hitting the bullseye and high points on the second board will always be higher no matter how much you try to screw up. (auto modes). On the smaller board, you can still hit the bullseye but the chances are much lower UNLESS you shoot 50 darts at it (multi shot modes) and hope one sticks OR you are one of the best dart throwers in the business who knows all about wind speeds and trajectories and somehow manage to squeeze a high point shot frequently. So there you go. Either you need to be really good at the photo process (and speed of decision is critical sometimes at the perfect moment) or you simply take a high volume of shots and utilize the percentage of good to great shots you can get out of the bunch. Do not try to compare some random shot from a P&S to a SLR because it just meant you happened to hit the bullseye somehow and not that they are equal by any means. SLRs will CONSISTENTLY out perform a P&S for HQ pics.
2) Portability - The best camera is the one with you. Unfortunately that means the cell phone for most people. However, the E-PL1 gives you hope to salvage the memories at a formal lunch or a party where unobtrusiveness is critical and you dont want to stick a huge SLR in someone's face. The kit lens is small, not very small but enough to avoid nervous glances anytime you try to click. Stick the pancake 20 mm Lumix Lens and they won't know what hit them. I consider SLRs to be EVENT based items where you have to plan to take them to a birthday function, wedding etc and its OK to have a piece of luggage with you while everyone else use a compact. The E-PL1 would make an Excellent Assistant SLR. (or is it Assistant to the SLR :)
3) Price - while the price is reasonable for the basic lens kit it is not cheap and I agonized over the 20 mm LUMIX lens and finally got it since it is simply a match made for the EPL1 form factor with a huge low light advantage. However, you need to remember that a lot of P&S lose value a lot quicker than SLRs that will take good pics no matter the date of manufacture. Since this is a new technology still evolving, your return on investment should be very good for this camera since it has all the necesssary features in it. (the next one could have a view finder, doubt it since the whole size thing would be compromised), there is already flash and high MP to take you through several years (get an accidental warranty and you might be set for much beyind in case something should happen to your camera and it is discontinued)
4) Megapixels are a very misunderstood concept. On a P&S, the higher the MP the more noise and issues at high ISO you will have since the PIXEL DENSITY is reduced (MP/Sensor size). That is why my 7 MP Kodak stays awesome for regular prints upto 8x10 since it does not falsely advertise its capabilities. A 12 MP on a small sensor on a P&S is asking for trouble. The key in my (very limited) experience is that you need to use the Flash as little as possible and use natural light and proper framing and placement with minimal zoom (use your legs). As such high ISO usability is very important to get at least a nice 8x10 print if desired, 4x6 would be more common. The E-PL1 is fantastic at high ISOs and pictures are not burnt out by the flash
5) Software/Editing is the main element of good digital photography and I am still a novice on this one so it is all the more critcal for me to have good art option ON BOARD the camera (stitching, diorama, sepia etc) This makes it a lot easier to see the after effect of the shot before it happens and saves you time later on the PC. RAW files while large and not commonly used by the average consumer are good to save for the important pics as a DIGITAL NEGATIVE if nothing else.
So, after the long expose, here is the rundown.
I ended up keeping the camera. I like my toys cheap and usable so its never easy for me to make a major purchase regardless if I have the money.
I did not miss the view finder as much as I thought I would. Pictures are consistently good and the Olympus JPEG engine is awesome. I got the 20mm LUMIX pancake lens and use the flash as little as possible The art filters are great. The Sepia is a nicer type not the washed out brown pics like others. The cool/wow factor is high and will remain as such for the near future since its a new type of technology (not just model) Auto focus for the kit lens was improved with the firware upgrade but still not as speedy as you would like The 20 mm lens on the other hand..... This camera will need work for very young kids and pets that don't work as well with you for posing. 3-4 yr olds and above will be fine and there are burst options/modes you can play with to utilize the dart board theory to take multi-pics in those situations. Get a tripod for shots that you can plan out like in a glamor shop (makes you look cool and like a pro) and minimizes errors and blurs. Essential for night and fireworks etc. The 20 MM will give you some extra help and onboard Image Stabilization will help as well on any lens.
Oh, and I am actually having fun taking pics now. I am taking more random pics of my kids and ending up framing even the unplanned poses. My facebook albums are like a gallery now for even regular pics.

I love this camera!
I was looking for something smaller but with slr quality. I found it and more with this camera. I know people with bulkier and more expensive slr cameras and I am way more pleased with my photos and the simplicity of the Olympus Pen E-PL1. I have had it for about a month now and haven't had any issues. I love the extra art settings this camera offers too. I would recommend this camera to anyone!!!

Camera Review - My Olympus Stylus Tough 3000
I am an avid lover of my Olympus Stylus 3000. This compact, and powerful little stylish bubble camera has been the answer to everything that I could possibly ask for.
When Digital Camera's first came out onto the market my very first camera I received was a little digital Olympus from my dad as a gift..
I bet it was something like 5mega pixels or something - but and I loved it too. I carried the little thing everywhere telling my story in self portraying photographs.
..Then somewhere along the lines I decided to take a photography course and upgraded to a Minolta DIMAGE A.2. The BEST on the market at that time (this was in 2004). It was 10 mega pixel SLR and I spent $1100 on that camera.... I hated it. I still dont really know how to use it. Not to mention that Minolta has now become extinct - so I couldnt even buy parts if I wanted to. For YEARS I had this Minolta this BiG honkin' piece of machinery.... That I simply hated carrying around...
Now its 2010, and it was time for an upgrade. Really I was looking for a new still camera that I could compact with me everywhere I went, but there was a catch. I wanted video capacity and HD preferably... Something Cute, and not to expensive...
Then TaDa! This little stylus perked up its little face on Amazon.com. Now the first thing that attracted me to this little Olympus was his price...he was comparably priced at approximately $200, and of course because I once had a Olympus before that I very much loved, we instantly had a connection. Then he continued to tell me about himself...
"I'm waterproof" he said seductively. "You can carry me around with you, anywhere, and we will have an amazing time...you'll never have to worry about me because not only am I susceptible to water, up to 3 meters... but I'm also Shockproof" he said cockily to me. "I'm a Stylus Tough, and I'm one of a kind."
How could I not fall in love with such a wonderful little camera?
But before I could commit to him; I need to feel him, hold him in my hands and KNOW for sure that he was the one for me. So I looked around looking for my prince charming camera. I met many other camera's in the process... but none of them were stacking up to the stylus that I read about on Amazon.com
Then Finally I found him! He came in 4 different colors to choose from, but I knew that I wanted him in Red. The clerk as he was showing him to me, was as charismatic as the camera, and I knew that we were a perfect fit. Today was the day that I getting my new little Olympus Stylus 3000!
He was perfect to hold in my hand, and I liked that his lens was not retractable. To me, that was a feature that was less likely to cause me to send him away to the warranty hospital. His buttons on the back are rubberized and soft. Everything about this camera is fun and noninvasive. He has many "magic" features, and a wide arrange of capture settings such as `cuisine' and `pets'. My favorite setting is the pinhole, and popart in the magicbox. But you can also stencil and create coloring pages!
The only downfall that I have about this little camera is uploading the video. The video feed is only compatible in Quicktime (MP4) and I have to convert all my videos in order to alter them in moviemaking which compromises the quality - quite a bit. And when you are recording video you cannot zoom. you can zoom before you start recording and it will work, but once the red little button has been pushed that's it! no changes missy! and unfortunately the features don't work in video either... so no popart videos :(
Besides that, I highly recommend this Powerful little 12mp, Stylus Camera!

Customer Review :
Olympus versus Lumix
I am just a snap happy picture taker who likes an ultra-small camera with quick shutter speed. I returned the Olympus after evaluating picture quality with the zoom, and because I did not like the feel of the camera in my hand. The Olympus picture quality is excellent until you get beyond 8x zoom; the blurring around the edges is very noticeable even while taking the shot, and the colors fade. The camera felt bulky and heavy compared to the Lumix FH20, and is more expensive. Overall a beautiful camera, just not right for my type of picture taking.
A side note about the Olympus brand; they design their battery and memory cards so you cannot substitue a generic brand.

best point and shoot
This is an excellent camera even though its a point and shoot. It has 12 mega pixels and a good zoom which is one of the reasons i bought this camera. I also bought this camera because it has an in-camera panorama feature. I later found out that it also does a grant job with up close pictures like flowers and such. it has three shooting settings for it in case you want to get really close like i do: normal, macro, and super-macro. i didn't even know it had this feature and once i discovered it i started getting compliments on my photos.

Some decent features, but wouldn't recommend
I've had my Olympus Stylus-9000 for a little over a year. Recently some smallish issues have compounded to make the camera basically unusable. First, the good stuff: I love the 10x optical zoom. When I bought the camera, there was really nothing that compared to that in it's price range. Outdoor and low-light, slow-speed pictures come out great. I never had any problems with battery life. I took it on a two week vacation; I zoomed in and out and turned the camera on and off all day long and only had to charge the battery twice. The controls are straightforward and the size makes it perfect to stuff in your jeans pocket.
Now the bad: first and foremost, the camera (or at least mine) simply isn't durable. I had the camera for a little over a year (just long enough to pass the warranty period, natch) and developed a few problems that gradually evolved into major problems. The LCD screen (which I thought was great originally) developed a jittery static problem that was only intermittent at first. Eventually this got worse and worse until now the screen is rarely visible and I have to take pictures "blind". Also, whatever feature it was that was providing the stabilization for zoomed in pictures stopped working, which makes the 10x zoom pretty much useless unless you have something to rest the camera on. Someone else mentioned this and I agree: the camera does not take good indoor pictures. Using the iAuto function, you get pictures that are overflashed; there seems to be no mechanism to correlate flash strength with subject distance. Switching to manual mode will eventually get you a decent picture, but who wants to tweek settings when the auto feature should be doing that for you? Flash free indoor pictures (which I resorted to after the overflashing) are grainy and the image stabilization does not do much if anything to correct the natural blur that comes with hand held low shutter speed pics.
In short, my camera broke. After reading the reviews here, this doesn't seem to be a common problem; maybe I just have bad luck. If I were happy with the camera overall, I would certainly be willing to buy another of the same model, but I am not. The camera simply isn't that great. I will be buying a differnt camera this time around.

Questions & Answers
Question : Can you help me decide if I should keep my new Olympus digital camera.?
I just got a new Olympus FE-230 7.1 digital camera. It takes an xD memory card. My Gateway Media Center laptop has a port that accepts SD size memory cards, but not the smaller xD. I have not even taken the camera out of the box. I'm thinking I should exchange it for a camera that requires SD cards so it will be compatible with my computer . Please help me decide. I don't need anything fancy, just a basic camera and this one seems to fit the bill. Would I be better off with one that takes SD cards? (for computer compatibility) Seems like there are more SD cards on the market than xDs. Does that mean they are better? If YOU were buying a camera today would it make any difference to you if it took an SD card or an xD card? Thanks.
Answer:
The camera that you purchased is a very nice camera and is inexpensive. I would say that you should keep the camera and that you should purchase a card reader or just use the USB cable that came with the camera(even though it is a little slower and will eat up some battery life) but you can recharge the battery and as long as you keep up with that you should just use the USB cable that is in the box.Keep the camera.SD is not better or worse by the way, but olympus and fuji both make XD and that is one way they are able to compete in the Digital Camera mkt. by making proprietary accessories.

Question : Trying to restore pictures from olympus digital camera with xd card?
I am trying to restore lost pictures from an Olympus digital camera that uses an xd card. There was a problem when I went to load the pictures, and the camera screen said to format it. After checking the card for the pics (they weren't there) we formatted. I have used several programs to try to get the pictures, using a card reader. Are they lost forever? One site I went on said if you used an Olympus with an xd card you can't recover the pics. These are very important pics, and I need them back. Thanks for any help!
Answer:
They are not really gone unless you have reformatted the card, or written over them with new pictures. The blog below has put together some simple instructions and recommends a few free programs. I have used the PC Inspector and SoftPerfect products to recover my pictures as well as those of friends. In some cases I wasn't able to get all of my pictures, but I was happy to get back what I could. The first letter of the filename is lost but it's typically easy to figure out what it was supposed to beIt seems there are a few programs that recover pics from xd cards. See the links. You can google "recover images xd" to see what's out there.

Question : I have an old Olympus OM 10fc and would like to use the lenses on a new Olympus digital slr camera?
I have an old Olympus OM 10fc and would like to use the old lenses since I have about 5 on a new Olympus digital SLR camera. What kind of Olympus camera would you recommend?
Answer:
You can do that with any of the Olympus Digital SLR cameras using a simple adapter (Olympus sells the adapter for about $100 U.S. but you can get good ones from third party manufactures for between $20~$50). I have both types and would not pay the difference for the Olympus brand again). In theory they should work with Panasonic and Leica Four/Thirds cameras as well but I have not tried either of them (because I am not rich enough to own all three brands).Be aware that the focal length will be effectively doubled, the lenses will require manual focusing and "stop down" metering in aperture priority mode and there are limitations on the metering modes that will work. Olympus recommends a very narrow range of aperture settings but I find that OM the lenses work well at most settings. There are also adapters with an electronic "focus confirmation" sensor that will provide an electronic connection to the auto-focus mechanisms on Oly cameras, this causes the audible/visible focus confirmation signal to activate when you have achieved best focus. I have not used any of these and have heard mixed reviews where some people loved them and others hated them. This can be important because the viewfinders on DSLR cameras are not traditional ground glass screens like those from manual focusing film cameras but rather are clear screens with focus points visible in the viewfinder. The ground glass style is considered unnecessary because of the auto focus capability.

Question : I got an Olympus digital camera. Not super impressed with the quality -- should i get a refund?
I bought an Olympus 8 megapixel camera with 5X optical zoom. I used to own a 8 megapixel Sony camera... the Sony had excellent quality (Carl Zeiss Lens). The Olympus camera was on sale so i decided to give it a try. it is difficult to take clear, focused pictures with this camera. should i get a refund? What is your experience with olympus cameras?Marie--what model was your camera?
Answer:
i've got an olympus fe310 (8 mp, 5 x zoom) & photos from it are fantastic. i've tried a pentax with similar specs. but the olympus is far better. what model olympus are you talking about ? are you SURE you've focused correctly before taking picture ? sometimes it is hard to focus on some objects that don't have good definition.
