I love it!
I am a pro in photography for more than a decade. Although I mainly shoot with Slr, I do own few compact cameras handy when I am not too serious about getting that perfect shoot. Of all small cameras that I own, this one is the only one that didn't disappoint me. Most other digtal cameras have few problem such as high iso noise, low image quaility, loud zooming sound, too big, start up too slow and etc.
This one is perfect: Start up is fast & quite; image quailty is great (see photos I have uploaded); HD video quailty is great; control is simple; lens is best (it is sharp and does 8x optical zoom); outside looks great, fashionable, stylistic, price is cheap. In short, this fh20 is a great camera.
This camera can deliver dslr like image quailty, but only if you know what you are doing. As a pro in photograph, I saw a lot of photo getting bad image using high-end dslr, so photography is a skill and art, and a camera is merely a tool. For me, this is a great tool. Although it lacks controls such as changing the aperture or shutter speed manually, you can still get great result if you know how this camera react to different situation such as lighting in a particularly enviromental. It is more than pressing the shutter release to take a picture; Photograhy is all about lighting. A camera that can take Hd video is great. Still the same point, it can record clear sharp video in a controlled eniroment. Don't expect to take great video in a sunny day where the harsh light shining everywhere.
I got a 8gb class 4 sd card for $15 that works fawlessly and a great deal. I can record about 10min of HD video because max. file side per-file is 2 gb, so a 8gb card can record 40 mins of HD video. And 8gb can take 1600+ highest 14 mp photos. I use photoshop and premiere pro to edit my photo and video.

Great Job Panasonic!!
I have been looking for a new digital camera that was small, took great pictures and was very simple to use (for those of us who are digital camera challanged). I had another brand but after a couple years of trying to figure out how it worked, just got disgusted because it was not as user friendly as they had said it was. Another thing I hated about other makes was the fact that they all used the AA batteries. This was a big part of the decision making because those AA batteries only lasted for about 10-20 minutes when put into the camera so was constantly changing them. So I started researching and reading hundred of reviews. After all was said and done, I went for the Panasonic Lumix FH-20. I got it out of the box and was pleasantly surprised at how compact and small it was and how very definitely these are VERY user friendly. I am so happy I don't have to carry a case of AA batteries with me anymore. The battery in this camera is awesome and lasts forever (well, you do have to charge it). The picutres I've taken so far are crip, sharp and the colors are true. Love the zoom feature too. This little camera really packs a punch..it has many other features that a simple to figure out and use. I'm just a simple person who just wants to aim, snap and go (and get great pics) and this camera has done that for me. You sure hit the nail on the head Panasonic for any digital camera challanged people out there..like me. I love my new little Lumix FH-20. Would recommed this camera to everyone. Oh, and believe me, you won't miss the viewfinder..I always found them annoying anyway. Happy picture taking everyone!

Great little camera!
I bought this camera as I wanted a small, easy to use digital camera to carry in my purse. This camera is a perfect size - small, but does not feel cheap. The first time I used it was at my daughter's candlelit wedding. Considering the lack of natural lighting, it did a very good job. I have been able to see pictures taken by other cameras at the same event, and mine did just as well or better. It is simple to use and I look forward to using it as my travel camera. A lot of camera for the price.

Right camera at the right price
I have always been a Canon fan when it comes to digital photography, having owned two digicams and one Canon camcorder. I still think Canons are great, but when it came to buying an everyday point-and-shoot I took another look. I wanted to get the most camera I could, including memory, for $200. I was looking for 12+ megapixels, more than 4x optical zoom, HD video, and a quality lens.
The Panasonic was the only product that came in well under $200. It handles well, shoots quickly, and is so easy to use my 9-year old son had it figured out in about an hour.
One thing that amazed me about the optics is the macro capability. My son took a photo of a Lego Clone Trooper with the lens less than one inch from the subject, and it came out perfectly in focus. So add macro along with the zoom and wide angle capabilities of this excellent product. I could not be more satisfied with it!

Moderately Satisfied
There are a lot of good things about this litte camera. 1. It's little. I purchased this for a hiking trip to California, so I needed it to be easily stowable. It is. 2. Ease of use. My previous camera was a Cannon, and I did not find there was any learning curve in adapting to a different menu set-up. I love the quick menu- it is incredibly convenient. 3. Ability to switch between file sizes easily. All on the quick menu. 4. Very good picture quality. I've been spoiled by Cannon, but Panasonic did OK.
My biggest complaint: the zoom. I wanted to upgrade my zoom from the 4x I had on my Cannon to something with a little more...Ooomph. I figured the 8x would be great. Except for the fact that this camera can't seem to be able to focus between 3x and 6x. If I'm set to one extreme or the other (either zoomed all the way back or all the way in), it's fine. But as I zoom in the camera can't seem to find a spot to focus on. I've tried pushing down the button slightly, getting the zoom box and trying to show the camera where I wanted it to focus on, but that doesn't work either. I've tried other cameras with high zoom and have not run into the same issue. As the camera zooms, the focus stays true. The FH20 starts off focused, gets blurry, and then focuses again. Pretty disappointing performance when you're trying to shoot landscapes, and everything seems to be in that middle range.
All in all this camera was an OK purchase. I like the burst shooting and the video recording, although I think it would have been better to add the video feature to the quick menu.

Great point and shoot camera
I have a Nikon D90 and always have a point and shoot(p&s) when I do not feel like bringing the BIG camera. After going through several Canon p&s cameras that broke on me, I decided to search my other options. I read tons of the reviews here, focusing on negatives, less on the positives. I found that people's complains and dislikes about the ZS7, did not matter to me. Thank you to those who gave this great camera the positive reviews. I ordered and have been playing with my ZS7 for more than a week now. I really like it and the pictures are much sharper than my previous p&s. I find the night shots to be OK(mostly so-so) but still much better than previous p&s. Again, that is why I have the D90 for those night shots when I want better results.

Problem w recorded image
I received my DMC-ZS7 just about 2 weeks ago. I had not had much chance to use it, but in the small amount of time I've had to play with it I was quite excited about it. Loved the extra zoom feature and the picture quality appeared to be quite nice. Haven't actually printed any photos yet so not sure how the quality will translate to print. Today while taking pictures I noticed a thin blue line was being included in the top center portion of the images. After trying different settings, different memory cards, etc. I found this was occuring in all photos. An email response from Panasonic suggested I reset the camera, and if that didn't work to send for repair. The reset did not work. I don't know if this is a software or a hardware issue, but now I must pay to have it shipped for a replacement. The seller only accepts returns if within 7 days. Also they require all warranty cards to be returned, so if you order any item be sure to save those cards and read all the fine print. I do like the camera and hope the replacement will provide many years of trouble-free use.Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS7 12.1 MP Digital Camera with 12x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 3.0-Inch LCD (Red)

A great camera
This is an amazing piece of technology. Not only does it take great pictures but the onboard GPS tags the location including not just the longitude and latitude but the actual name of the location. The 12X zoom is excellent and the image stabilization seems to work extremely well, even in video mode. The HD (720p)video looks excellent. There are tons of features and full manual control too. The intelligent auto mode works exceptionally well even with difficult lighting situations. For the most part you can just leave the camera in auto and shoot. But the are the P,A,S,M modes if you want to get more creative or are in difficult lighting situations that IA cannot deal with properly.
All of this is packed into a pocket-able device so it is perfect for vacations and family events. The most important thing however is the quality of the photos and they are very good to excellent with this camera. The 25mm wide to 300mm tele lens range is very useful, especially the wide end.
There are tons of features included with this camera so make sure to read the supplied PDF manual to get the most out of it. My only complaint is I wish there were a printed version of the full manual instead of just a PDF. Otherwise, this camera is a real winner.

A fun "spy camera"
This camera is a lot of fun to use, especially for "older" eyesight. You can zoom in on birds, buildings, etc and see much more detail than with normal vision. My only complaint is that the camera usage booklet needs to be downloaded and printed from your computer. Would be much nicer to actually have a little compact booklet.

Purely AMAZING
bought this before my trip to Colorado. forgot my spare battery and the recharger but the battery i had lasted the whole trip! tons of pictures and videos, and just SICK picture quality, i recommend this to anyone and everyone. Such a beast camera.

Absolute product love!
This camera is completely a steal! The quality of photos it takes is only hindered by the level of creativity you have. I absolutely love this camera, in general, but I bought it specifically so I could take pictures of the stars and the moon - of which I was not disappointed. On the contrary, I was joyfully surprised. The camera caught even some of the subtle stars.
The color vibrancy continues to steal my breath! Or the fact that I have even had flowers touching the lens and the picture will still have clean lines is a rarity! All in all, this point and shoot will make any amature, such as myself, feel highly experienced and capable of delivering beautiful pictures.

Very Impressive Photos
I wanted to downsize from a dSLR to a smaller camera because the bigger camera was just too heavy to lug around my neck all day especially since I had a zoom lens on it. I also wanted a small camera that had a viewfinder. Sometimes you just can't see that back screen well enough to take a good picture. Of course I wanted to have the option of manually setting camera speed, aperture etc. plus I wanted, perhaps, to take a short video of some amazing scene on one of my trips.
I bought the Panasonic FZ-35 and have had it now for about 6 months. It takes absolutely gorgeous photos...crisp images, accurate colors in all lighting situations. The camera's IntelligentAuto is often smarter than I am and takes a better balanced picture than I do. I now do very little editing with photo software. As I expected, the viewfinder comes in handy for some shots. The camera is light and easy to carry around all day even hanging around my neck. I have an impressive zoom lens.
I've gone through a slew of large and small cameras looking for one that produced sharp photos and that didn't require that I take extra lens with me. I finally found what I was looking for in this camera and would recommend its purchase to anyone. I'd put my photos up against those from a dSLR anytime.

Great camera at a resonable price
I lost the previous model of this Panasonic camera on a trip to California several years ago. As a replacement I got a Nikon P90. That's a nice camera, but never came near the features and picture quality of this Panasoic DMC-FZ35. Great pictures, easy to follow menus and just very simply a fine camera for an amateur like myself. Recommend it strongly for anyone who wants great pictures without a lot of fuss, but something more than just point and shoot.

LOVE IT!
I am close to a total amateur but have been trying out cameras over the last several months. I returned them all until this one. This camera has everything I have been looking for short of a DSL. My kids play sports and the burst mode is amazingly fast. I am able to capture everything so quickly it's almost like watching a movie in playback. I was even able to get individual shots of my kids on a roller coaster as it sped by. I recently took it on a whale watch and got wonderful movie footage and if I wasn't directly in the wind it picked up sound very well also. The 18x optical zoom has also made it possible to catch wildlife in my back yard I couldn't before. Powers on fast. Tons of easy settings to use. I even got a clear shot of the Big Dipper using the shutter speed selections. It has all the priority settings for people who have a real working knowledge of cameras (not me). And the battery lasts forever. It went everywhere with us on our week long vacation, including almost two hours of whale watch footage/stills and I only had to recharge it once and even then it was still 1/2 charged. It's bulkier than your standard point and shoot but if you want the shots and have a little time to learn the easy settings, it's a wonderful do everything family camera.

Bang for your buck!
I love photography but the camera I use for professional quality photos is way too bulky to be carrying around everywhere. I got this camera for convenience (for times that I don't want to carry around my larger camera). I had checked multiple places/sites and this one has the overall best reviews. I am not disappointed. It's extremely convenient and light and the photo qualities are great considering the price of the camera (obviously not professional pictures, but still higher quality).
My mom and I both bought this camera and we are very satisfied. I would recommend it to anyone as long as they're not trying to take photos of high high high quality (the zoom is good for everyday use and the shutter isn't exceptionally fast) but overall, great camera!

Image stablizer is not working
I purposely bought the DMC-FH20 for taking pictures in museums but found the indoor picture were not clear and the color of most pictures are yellowish. Pictures taken in dark with flash are muddy, the image stabilizer makes no different. Forget about the zoom, 8x zoom is only a good number but in reality it doesn't take clear pictures. Something is wrong with this camera.
Very disappointed with this camera so I am returning it to Amazon.com. The Fuji Finepix S5100 I owned for 6 years takes better pictures than it. The Canon Powershot SD770 I bought for my daughter also takes better pictures than the Panasonic DMC-FH20 but has only 3 x zoom & doesn't take good indoor pictures 'cos the flash is weak.
So is the battery that comes with the DMC-FH20 can only support 180 pictures which is definitely not enough for touring a museum.
After all I rated it 2 stars. It is the same price as the big Fuji power zoom S1800 so I will try the Fuji now.

So far, fantastic
Did about a month's worth of research for a DigiCam around the $150-$200 price point. Was replacing an old Cannon 3MP Elph (great product).
The Panasonic has two features that stand out to me - 8x optical zoom and lightning fast shutter. Nothing was worse with the old camera, or with a cell phone camera, than waiting for the image to store. You hear a click, count to 2 mississippi and then your image is saved. NOT WITH THIS CAMERA! If you're using the auto focus, it snaps almost instantaneously. I can't overstate how wonderfully responsive this camera is.
The zoom is great as well. Not a lot of cameras in my price bracket have more than a 4x optical zoom. Added to the shutter speed, and I can get great shots of my little one from across the room before a distraction ruins my shot.
Other features: -Solid pictuee quality - very happy with this, especially since that's the point of a "point-and-shoot"! -intelligentAuto setting is solid, very happy with its selections so far -ability to tinker with settings if I want, though no need to thanks to iA -burst feature for taking multiple pictures (though to take continuous shots, you lose MP depth) -standard size 2.7" screen -surprisingly easy controls and menus -solid feature set for the price -HD video capability (720) - but the zoom feature is deactivated while shooting. -14 MP
All in all, I highly recommend this camera. Friends have the Casios, I've had good experiences with Cannon, but this is, so far, my favorite.
I'd give it 5 stars, but have only had it a month. I'd prefer having it longer before going all the way.

great
This was my first point and shoot camera to buy in about 8 years, so it was DEFINITELY going to be better, but this thing is phenominal! I love the zoom, and the pictures are CRYSTAL CLEAR!

A return to the essence of photography - the Lumix DMC-LX5 from Panasonic. Look to a LEICA DC VARIO-SUMMICRON lens with 24mm wide-angle capability and f/2.0 aperture to bring you optical performance with exceptional precision and clarity. Then, rely on a 1/1.63" CCD image sensor for 10.1-megapixel still photos that exceed higher-resolution images in purity and detail. Next, adding multimedia to your outing, the DMC-LX5 lets you shoot HD 720p video with expanded manual controls. Further, while Power optical image stabilization ensures blur-free shots, a Lithium-ion battery lets you shoot up to 400 photos on a single charge. Finally, Panasonic's Intelligent Auto mode steps in and handles camera functions flawlessly when you want to focus on the fun and not on settings.
Customer Review :
Love this camera
I'm not a professional photographer and I don't know a lot about the intricate details of cameras. I had a Lumix point and shoot that I got proficient with (or as proficient as one can be with a point and shoot camera) and I had limited experience with my husband's Nikon D300. I wanted to slowly step my way from point and shoot to dSLR and thought this would be a good middle ground.
The LX5is great! It is smaller than I thought it would be and light as well. The controls are easy to use and easy to access. The photos are crisp and clear and I really enjoy that I am able to have more control over my photos than I would have had with just a point and shoot. I have been able to get some great narrow depth of field and have played around with the manual modes a bit.
I am definitely impressed with the quality of pictures I have gotten so far, which have blown away my last camera's pictures (and I thought those were good!). And I really appreciate how intuitive everything is, especially for someone like me that doesn't really know anything about photography and is just learning.

Love My LX5
Sorry, don't have the patience to do one of those long reviews, there are plenty of those elsewhere.
I've had my LX5 for about five days now. I'll just say that its out-of-camera photos certainly look as good as my LX3. The photos have that unusual tack sharp realistic look & colors that I was used to with the LX3. The ability to zoom and focus track during video is a nice plus over the LX3.
The LX5 certainly created a lot of buzz on dpreview forums (now owned by Amazon). Seems that Canada got the LX5 almost two weeks before retailers in the US. People in the US ordered the LX5 from Canada and paid good money for expedited shipping. That shows you how much expectation/trust people had for the LX5.
You can't go wrong with this camera. The LX3 was one of the most highly rated point-and-shoots in the last ten years.

The NEW Benchmark in Premium P&S Cameras
Overall, Panasonic took the LX3 and made it even better...something I didn't think was possible.
The LX5 will easily have the same problem as the LX3, demand will exceed supply.
This is an excellent camera and I HIGHLY recommend it given the wide angle/fast lens.
Don't take my word for it, look at the Amazon.com Top 100 P&S Cameras and the LX5 is already #2 after only being available for 3 days.

Question : does digital camera Panasonic Lumix DMC-FS3 have the function zoom while recording ?
my digital camera, Panasonic Lumix DMC-FS3, does it have the function zoom while recording ? if yes, how do i turn that function on ?
Answer:
No, unfortunately, it doesn't. Very few compact cameras allow you to zoom while recording video. Unlike camcorders, the zoom mechanism for a compact camera is motor driven, and the camera will pick up the noise of the motor if you zoom while you're recording. For this reason, the feature is almost always disabled by the manufacturer.

Question : When taking a video clip using zoom with my Panasonic FZ30 digital camera, the focus drifts in and out.?
When taking a video clip using zoom with my Panasonic FZ30 digital camera, the focus drifts in and out. What might cause this and what can be done to correct it? Thanks.
Answer:
You can't correct it because the camera is trying to focus on what ever it can find in the frame. It's an automatic function programmed into the system. So if you move the camera while it's recording or if you're trying to record moving objects, this will always happen. I know because I own a Fuji 9000 that is video capable and it does exactly the same thing. The only cameras I know of that don't do this are SLR's that are video capable. They don't because you can set the lens to manual focus and then twist the focus ring yourself. Automatic cameras don't have this function.

Question : I want to buy a Panasonic digital camera but wondered which model in the TZ range has better images?
I can see that different models have come out but on Flikr I saw images taken by the TZ 5 were really impressive on portraits and holiday pictures, but I wondered if anyone could say which TZ models are equally good.I do not mind if it is older versians, basically I am seeking a good holiday camera in this range, specifically Egypt
Answer:
Well the TZ6 and TZ7 were released the same time I think? and the TZ7 just has a bit bigger screen but costs more. The TZ8 and TZ10 were released at the same time, the newer range and the TZ10 just has GPS, has slightly better megapixel and a slightly bigger screen but costs more. I also heard that the GPS takes up battery life but you can turn it off.

Question : Is our Panasonic digital camera ruined?
We have a Panasonic digital camera, 7megapixel, and have had it about 2 years now. The past couple months we noticed all pictures we take, that once we load them on a computer or print them there is a horizontal line through it. Every picture has this line through them and it's annoying. Can it be fixed or just get a new camera?
Answer:
My guess is that this is a fault in the CCD sensor (the "film" in a digital camera). There were a rash of these problems in sensors produced by Sony in 2005 (see link below) with the common symptom of a horizontal line appearing on the image. Many companies were will to fix this fault for free. You have (possibly) two options. 1. If you can gain access to the sensor (depending on the camera, you might be able to take off the lens to get access), you might use a lens blower to try to knock off any dust, etc that fell onto the sensor. It's possible (though unlikely) that this is your problem. 2. You can call Panasonic and tell them about the problem, highlighting that this is a sensor fault, and try to get them to spring for the repair. If they won't the cost of the repair is probably prohibitive (around $200 for Canon), so you'll end up tossing the camera.

Question : CAMERA EXPERTS! I am trying to buy a replacement battery for my Panasonic digital camera Panasonic Lumix DMC-?
what are the pro's and con's of the 950 mAh and the 1400 mAh?
Answer:
Are you comparing batteries from the same manufacturer? That makes a difference. If manufacturer is the same the 1400mah battery will allow you to take more photos per charge. Theoretically about 50% more. For example if the 950mah gets 300 shots per charge the 1400mah battery would get 450 shots per charge. If the 950mah battery is a respected name brand and the 1400mah battery is one of the cheap imports from Ebay you may not see such an improvement.

Question : Lens rattle with new panasonic digital camera?
Hi, I just got a new Panasonic FZ18. I noticed that there is a rattle coming from the lens when I tip or handle the camera. Just wondered if this is common in this model??
Answer:
This may be normal. There is a loose element in the lens that, when in use, compensates for hand movement when using the optical image stabilization.Try turning the stabilizer on using Mode 2 and see if you hear the rattling under the same conditions. Mode 2 is continuous stabilization whereas Mode 1 is on-shot, I believe. Try Mode 1 also if you still hear rattling just in case.

Question : How to set auto timer for digital camera, panasonic dmc-ft1?
How to set it & can I capture continuous images somthing like handphone sequence mode with this camera? Thanks.
Answer:
From page 54 of the user manual that I found here:http://www.panasonic.com.au/support/downloads/more_info.cfm?objectID=2409&fileTypeID=2&productC ategoryID=16&productID=0&listQueryString=fileTypeID%3D2%26productCategoryID%3D16%26productID%3D0It explains how you use the self-timer and the "burst" option which I think is what you mean by "continuous images".Have fun!
