| Editorial Review :
Panasonic’s LUMIX DMC-GF3 realizes all the features you want from a bulky DSLR interchangeable lens camera, only it accomplishes this in an ultra compact point-and-shoot camera body about as wide and tall as a typical smart phone yet is lightweight and simple to master. This remarkable reduction in size and weight is thanks to advancements in new mirror-free camera technology, and large DSLR format sensors that are more compatible with a new class of compact Micro Four Thirds (MFT) System lenses. This new class of Compact System Cameras (CSC) offers a weight and compactness not seen in traditional DSLRs, yielding greater portability and creative control. The DMC-GF3’s image quality comes from a large DSLR-sized 12.1-megapixel sensor and newly advanced image processing technologies. The DMC-GF3 provides a traditional DSLR-like experience without the need for complicated external mode dials, yet provides intuitive and quick access to common modes like Program, Shutter and Aperture Priority, Manual via a touch-enabled LCD that operates much like a smart phone. The DMC-GF3 provides a dedicated video button that can be used to switch to video capture quickly without changing modes. At the heart of the DMC-GF3’s simplified functionality is a large 3.0-inch LCD (460k- dot) that allows for intuitive touch control of menus and most shooting, focusing, playback and effects controls. Menus can be customized using simple drag-and-drop actions like those on most touch-enabled smartphones. This allows for a custom user interface, giving Quick Menu access to functions that can be tailored to any user’s expertise level. Using the touch-screen operation, a user can lock onto a subject, enabling AF Tracking in both still and video modes. When you’re ready to shoot, the subject will be in focus and ready to capture.

Question : When taking a video clip using zoom with my Panasonic FZ30 digital camera, the focus drifts in and out.?
When taking a video clip using zoom with my Panasonic FZ30 digital camera, the focus drifts in and out. What might cause this and what can be done to correct it? Thanks.
Answer:
You can't correct it because the camera is trying to focus on what ever it can find in the frame. It's an automatic function programmed into the system. So if you move the camera while it's recording or if you're trying to record moving objects, this will always happen. I know because I own a Fuji 9000 that is video capable and it does exactly the same thing. The only cameras I know of that don't do this are SLR's that are video capable. They don't because you can set the lens to manual focus and then twist the focus ring yourself. Automatic cameras don't have this function.

Question : Is our Panasonic digital camera ruined?
We have a Panasonic digital camera, 7megapixel, and have had it about 2 years now. The past couple months we noticed all pictures we take, that once we load them on a computer or print them there is a horizontal line through it. Every picture has this line through them and it's annoying. Can it be fixed or just get a new camera?
Answer:
My guess is that this is a fault in the CCD sensor (the "film" in a digital camera). There were a rash of these problems in sensors produced by Sony in 2005 (see link below) with the common symptom of a horizontal line appearing on the image. Many companies were will to fix this fault for free. You have (possibly) two options. 1. If you can gain access to the sensor (depending on the camera, you might be able to take off the lens to get access), you might use a lens blower to try to knock off any dust, etc that fell onto the sensor. It's possible (though unlikely) that this is your problem. 2. You can call Panasonic and tell them about the problem, highlighting that this is a sensor fault, and try to get them to spring for the repair. If they won't the cost of the repair is probably prohibitive (around $200 for Canon), so you'll end up tossing the camera.

Question : Lens rattle with new panasonic digital camera?
Hi, I just got a new Panasonic FZ18. I noticed that there is a rattle coming from the lens when I tip or handle the camera. Just wondered if this is common in this model??
Answer:
This may be normal. There is a loose element in the lens that, when in use, compensates for hand movement when using the optical image stabilization.Try turning the stabilizer on using Mode 2 and see if you hear the rattling under the same conditions. Mode 2 is continuous stabilization whereas Mode 1 is on-shot, I believe. Try Mode 1 also if you still hear rattling just in case.

Question : How do I transfer pictures from my Panasonic digital camera to my PC?
How do I transfer pictures from my Panasonic digital camera to my PC?
Answer:
There are 2 ways, 1. you take the cable that was provided with the camera and plug it into the camera and computer, then you access your "my computer" in your computer and select the camera, this way you can access the photos. 2. You take the SD card out of the camera and insert it into an SD card reader, some computers have one built in, others you need to buy one (they can be really cheap though), and then access the photos the same way as above.

Question : Whats better a Nikon or Panasonic digital camera?
Trying to buy a new camera, im looking at a Nikon and a Panasonic, which one should i get?
Answer:
Look at Nikon, or CanonMy preference in the larger DSLR's are the Nikon's (of course!)Canon makes good stuff too, but I prefer the "ergonomics" or layout on the Nikon. In the smaller Point n shooters, Canon may have the slight edge. Both cameras are good, but Canon gives a larger selection of cameras with an "optical viewfinder" which I prefer in the bright sunlight. Those LCD viewfinders can be hard to see in bright sunlight.Make sure you get one with the VR (Vibration Reduction, Nikon)or the IS (Image Stabilization, Canon) to help you get good shots in the low light tough shooting conditions.
