Beautiful Pictures
We buy a camera to take pictures and we want sharp crisp photos. This Lumix produces top quality photos. It's so easy to use, even a cave-woman can do it. The zoom in and out feature is right at your fingertips just before you're ready to shoot. I opted for the whole HDMI bundle, it was the best value for the money. It even came with a tripod. Leica makes top quality lenses and this Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS7 12.1 MP takes the sharpest pictures I ever took on a digital camera. My bundle came with this jump drive looking gadget that is actually a card reader. So you simply take the SD card out of the camera, insert it into the gadget and insert into the computer just like you would insert a jump drive. Upload the photos and then just delete which ever photos you want to off of the SD card. My bundle came with 8GB SD card and a nice carry-bag (and so much more). I haven't tried the video yet. The GPS is a cool feature for travelers. I think I would invest in a reserve battery. I simply love this digital camera!

nice kit and camera so far
Until this purchase I have had only Sony Point and Shoot camera's, which for the most part I have been happy with, but it was getting time to replace the old Sony and had been considering the DMC-ZS3 for some time. As I was researching that model, the DMC-ZS7 had come out to good reviews and had addressed a few problems with the ZS3. So far the camera seems nice, has worked well and performs equally well to other P&S camera's I have owned. Probably the best attribute I have seen on the camera is the zoom, it really zooms well and the pictures come out clear and focused. The biggest downside (if you want to call it a downside) is that this camera is complex with a lot of functions and very little instruction. Most things I have learned just through trail and error. I have seen other reviews about the mode dial moving easily and unexpectedly and that has happened to me, now I just remember to check it. Overall I like the feel of the camera, the weight, construction etc...I like the 3in LCD screen (although hard to see in bright light like all P&S camera's). The kit was nice with the accessories; as it was not a whole lot more expensive than just the camera.

Not impressed!
I have never liked this camera much at all. It takes sooo long to take one picture after another. I've had it repaired once because half of a picture will be dark and the other half will be light. Now I'm having the same problem again.
Rating :
Good price performance ratio
Build quality is good enough. In video it sometimes make bright vertical lines artifact when direcly exposed by high contrast and bright light areas. Wide angle is good.
For this price , this camera rocks.

a top ultra-compact camera
First of all, a lot of people complain about the noise with this camera in low-light conditions. Well, people, it's time to realize two things: - given the ultra compact size, the sensor will obviously we much smaller than a slightly bigger camera. This comes with drawbacks, and one should not expect a high-end SLR high-iso capability on such a small camera. - Panasonic is notorious for its noise issues. It started a while ago when they entered this segment, and it has not really been taken care of... You can prevent that noise problem, to some extent, by limiting the highest iso setting on the camera (feature called intelligent iso)
However, this is a very very fun camera to use for outdoors hence 4 stars. The ultra wide angle makes it fantastic for landscapes, and it comes with nice and nifty presets, easily accessible, unlike on a Canon that has very unfriendly menus.. At wide angle, outdoors, the pictures are VERY crisp, thanks to the Leica Lens (keep in mind that Leica has the exact same lineup as panasonic - but much more expensive...) Ultra compact means that you can just take it anytime, forget it in your pocket (check before you do the laundry...) and take it out very quickly to shoot a great scene. It is light, has a good autonomy and allows you to shoot HD movies. Beware: the zoom mechanism is actually really close to the microphone, therefore there is no zoom capability when you take movies. It is SDHC compatible: couple the camera with a fast (at least 133x) SD card, with, say 8gb or 16gb, and you're good to go for ever! I'd recommend Transcend. Last but not least, this one has been replaced by the newer FX37, much more expensive; at ~$170 this one is a steal! The newer version does not really bring much more and I read some reviews complaining about worse noise issues. Overall, an EXCELLENT ultra compact camera.

One of three
I am a semi-retired Professional Photographer that uses digital for most small jobs. Team sports pictures, small parties, both indoor & and outdoor (with an aux slave flash or forced flash on for close-up outdoor shots), advertising & most commercial photographs can all be handled with my 3 compact Panasonic cameras.
Since around 1976 I've been shooting with a Leica M5 & M4 camera with 5 lenses. The DMC LX-3, TZ-5 & FX-35 do more than my old Leicas ever thought of. They also have a Leica lens and a good strong feel to the cameras.
I keep the FX-35 in my front left pocket at all times. Several times I had lay down my camera to eat, use the rest room, etc., when a photo opp. appeared. That little FX-35 was there & up to the task! I could tell no difference in it's pictures & the others when all shown together. When I needed an 11x14, it delivered like a champ.
The silver case is so well made, that after well over a year of pocket carry, it shows almost no wear. Remember, it is a pocket camera, but a very good one!

Love it
This is exactly what I was looking for. I had a good idea that this would be the case after reading reviews. I had another Panasonic camera from 3 years ago that I was extremely satisfied with however I stupidly brought it to the beach and got sand in it.

With both a 32mm wide-angle Leica DC Vario-Elmar lens and a 5x zoom, this is one camera that does it all. You can fit more in the photo than you can with a 35mm lens, so you can get more of a sweeping landscape in a single shot. The 5x zoom is great for capturing dramatic shots of small or distant subjects. There's also an Extra Optical Zoom function that boosts zoom power to 8.9x in 3-megapixel resolution mode. Simply set the Lz8 to iA mode and let the camera do the rest. Intelligent Scene Selector chooses the mode that best fits the situation; MEGA Optical Image Stabilization (O.I.S.) helps prevent blurring from hand-shake; Intelligent ISO Control helps prevent motion blur; and Face Detection helps produce clear portraits by optimizing the focus and exposure settings. The brightness and contrast of the large 2.5" diagonal LCD adjust automatically in 10 steps as ambient light conditions change, so images are clear, bright and easy to see day or night, indoors or outdoors. f=5.2-26mm (35mm Equiv. - 32-160mm) Focal Length 2.5 Diagonal Polycrystalline TFT LCD Display (230K dots) Focusing Area Normal - Wide 50cm/ Tele 100cm - infinity, Macro / Intelligent AUTO - Wide 5cm / Tele 100cm - infinity 8 - 1/2,000 sec. A toy camera
Bought this camera for christmas and it worked reasonably well. But it takes a long time between shots, the picture quality is not a good as my older 3mp panasonic, and this camera feels cheaply built. It is way too light. After 5 months an error message message appeared when you turned it on, I figured out is was because the lens was not extending fully. With some pulling and wiggling I got it to work again. Now it won't work at all. Seems to be mfg'ed completely of plastic...a toy.

A great little camera
Although this camera is somewhat dated, I decided to get it on the strength of previous reviews. It takes great pictures and a plus for me is the ergodynamics which allow me to hold it firmly in spite of having rather large hands. It fires up pretty quickly and the LCD is clear, even on a bright day. It has a nice range of options and the different settings are quickly adjusted. The macro setting is very sharp I am very happy with it and have already published several pictures.

bad choice
This is honestly the worst camera I have ever owned, which is surprising since the higher-end Lumix cameras are really nice. It cannot focus. It takes up to 10 seconds to recycle to shoot another image--even on full battery life. Spend the money to get a better version (the DMC-TZ25 is great, but I dropped mine on concrete and tried to replace it with this inferior camera when I should've spent the money to have the other one repaired.)

PANASONIC DMC-FZ18K BLACK
Customer Review :
Couldn't be happier
I have had this camera for nearly 2 years and I am still awed by the 18X Leica lens and the quality of images even when zoomed to the maximum optical zoom. I have been a photographer for a long time and still remember that with my old 35mm Nikon the 300 mm lens (not a Nikon because of the cost) was heavy, long and required so much light to be able to shoot at a reasonable shutter speed, it was often unusable. Those days are gone and this entire camera weighs only a fraction of what my old 300 mm lens weighed by itself. The lens is so fast that it can be used under otherwise questionable light, especially with the optical stabilization. It's true that the battery life is a small issue but everything else more than makes up for it.

Would be a great camera but it's a dust magnet
This camera was great in most of the ways the 5-star reviews here say it is. I don't know if maybe mine was just a lemon but it had dust on the CCD right out of the box which ruined my pics of an air show I attended. I sent it to Vann's for service and they sent it back to me about a month later without even fixing it. I'll never again do business with a dishonest outfit like Vann's. Anyway, I sent the camera to Panasonic to get fixed under the warranty and they sent it back in 3 days, perfectly clean. I kept it in a clean camera bag, lens down for a few months until the next summer and, sure enough, I had more dust on the CCD which ruined my vacation photos. Took it to a local camera shop which charged $60 to take it apart and clean the CCD. Two weeks later, more CCD dust, more ruined photos. This camera brought me a years worth of grief, frustration and ruined photos of once-in-a-lifetime experiences. I won't buy a Panasonic camera again and I hope Vann's goes out of business.

So I'm kinda scared on buying anything else, because I could be wasting my money... Any-one out there experienced the same problem???plz write bak, if you have any ideas, Thanx

Question : I want to buy a Panasonic digital camera but wondered which model in the TZ range has better images?
I can see that different models have come out but on Flikr I saw images taken by the TZ 5 were really impressive on portraits and holiday pictures, but I wondered if anyone could say which TZ models are equally good.I do not mind if it is older versians, basically I am seeking a good holiday camera in this range, specifically Egypt
Answer:
Well the TZ6 and TZ7 were released the same time I think? and the TZ7 just has a bit bigger screen but costs more. The TZ8 and TZ10 were released at the same time, the newer range and the TZ10 just has GPS, has slightly better megapixel and a slightly bigger screen but costs more. I also heard that the GPS takes up battery life but you can turn it off.

The Panasonic line is a sleeper.Panasonic is the provider for the Leica companies digital cameras. In fact a lot of the point and shoot cameras made by Panasonic sport Leica lenses. Other than the Leica logo on their cameras, Leitz has added their electronic processing to their version of the cameras

Question : How to set auto timer for digital camera, panasonic dmc-ft1?
How to set it & can I capture continuous images somthing like handphone sequence mode with this camera? Thanks.

From page 54 of the user manual that I found here:http://www.panasonic.com.au/support/downloads/more_info.cfm?objectID=2409&fileTypeID=2&productC ategoryID=16&productID=0&listQueryString=fileTypeID%3D2%26productCategoryID%3D16%26productID%3D0It explains how you use the self-timer and the "burst" option which I think is what you mean by "continuous images".Have fun!

Question : When taking a video clip using zoom with my Panasonic FZ30 digital camera, the focus drifts in and out.?
When taking a video clip using zoom with my Panasonic FZ30 digital camera, the focus drifts in and out. What might cause this and what can be done to correct it? Thanks.
Answer:
You can't correct it because the camera is trying to focus on what ever it can find in the frame. It's an automatic function programmed into the system. So if you move the camera while it's recording or if you're trying to record moving objects, this will always happen. I know because I own a Fuji 9000 that is video capable and it does exactly the same thing. The only cameras I know of that don't do this are SLR's that are video capable. They don't because you can set the lens to manual focus and then twist the focus ring yourself. Automatic cameras don't have this function.

Answer:

Question : Whats better a Nikon or Panasonic digital camera?
Trying to buy a new camera, im looking at a Nikon and a Panasonic, which one should i get?
Answer:
Look at Nikon, or CanonMy preference in the larger DSLR's are the Nikon's (of course!)Canon makes good stuff too, but I prefer the "ergonomics" or layout on the Nikon. In the smaller Point n shooters, Canon may have the slight edge. Both cameras are good, but Canon gives a larger selection of cameras with an "optical viewfinder" which I prefer in the bright sunlight. Those LCD viewfinders can be hard to see in bright sunlight.Make sure you get one with the VR (Vibration Reduction, Nikon)or the IS (Image Stabilization, Canon) to help you get good shots in the low light tough shooting conditions.
