Love this camera

I got this camera for Mother's Day and what a suprise! I have a two-year-old and my old camera never took the picture fast enough. But this Camera keeps up with my busy daughter no problem! The picture quality is great and there are many extra features that make this camera well worth it. There is a setting that puts a year stamp on my daughter's pictures, the picture will say two-years and one-month ect. In years to come when I look back on my pictures I wont have to guess how old she was or do the never ending task of handwriting the age on the back of each photo. I love it, it fits nicely in my purse and I take it every where. I no longer miss out on those cute photo moments!

Junk cameras, and you can forget the warrantee!

I bought this camera as a gift and it failed in a matter of months. I sent it back and after hearing nothing at all from customer service for months, the camera was sent back unrepaired. They claimed they had tried to contact me several times (nonsense, I gave them my cell number AND email address) and that the camera was "unrepairable" due to "moisture damage". When I asked if this could be caused by airborne moisture, they said yes. I live in Oregon, and none of my other digital cameras ever had any problems with this. They stonewalled me on fixing the camera. You have been warned: NEVER buy Panasonic junk!

2 months of gentle use and now it has a snag

I bought a new piece on amazon and used it for not more than 2 months and it doesn't work anymore. I haven't droped it or mis used it or anything. One day I was clicking as usual and instead of taking the picture, when i click it zooms in and stays like that. I called up Panasonic, and they had me send the camera at my own shipping expense and re-soldered the parts (thats what they told me they did) and sent it back after 20 days or so. Please make a better choice.. Don't buy this camera.

Great for copying text

This compact camera is a great asset which I use at the National Archives to photograph textual documents. It has a great micro-mode and uses available light. When researching at the Archives, the cost of copying has gone up to $.25 per page but this nifty camera with its anti-shake takes wonderful clear images of the documents, drawings, and/or photos. Images are recorded on an SD card and then can be uploaded to my lap top and my image files. I can then record the images to CD and send the material on to clients for $1.77 as opposed to what the paper costs used to be to ship. I also use this little gem when touring museums. It easily records images of the text describing various objects as well as the objects. This dandy camera easily fits into my pants pocket. I have carried it all over England, SCotland and Ireland and have taken about 10,000 images with this camera. I have had it about three years and it has been great.

Awesome Camera

I bought this camera because I got tired of buying disposable cameras and paying to have the pictures printed. Once I used it, I fell in love with it instantly. I dropped it several times, and it didn't break or malfunction. What a wonderful product and I recommend this camera for everyone.

Great, cute, stealable.

This camera was so awesome, it was stolen from me. I'm not rich, so I'll wait to write another review until I know more, but for the week or so we were together, it took perfect pictures, had some cool settings, took a decent video(even in the dark ;)

Pretty good camera

The camera works very well. Setting up the computer connection is easy. Uploading is easy as well. I carried this camera around in my purse for days and did not have a problem with it. I would suggest getting a Memory Card to record pictures on if you want to take a lot of pictures. Between the memory on the camera and a 64mg I was able to take about 55 pictures in high resolution.

Fast, simple and automatic.

I bought this camera in April 2007 and have taken just about 12,000 pictures with it to date. It has nice, easy features and settings that correspond to common activities, like pictures of landscapes, portraits, babies, fireworks, etc. but you really need to know what you're doing in order for these settings to make nice pictures.

I've had some issues with settings being set to one of the options and then realizing my pictures were coming out blurry or really grainy because of what I was taking a picture of with the wrong setting. It was entirely my fault but something to be on the lookout for if your pictures aren't coming out right. This camera doesn't work in the dark without the flash. However, if you have sufficient light, it can take WONDERFUL pictures without the flash.

With regard to the video portion, I'm bummed you can't zoom in our out while recording. The zoom has to be set pre-record but it takes nice video. Good for an average user. I've never had a problem with the image stabilizer and am impressed with the amount of video/pictures I've been able to capture with just a 2GB SD card.

I've also dropped it a few times and everything still works good, so the construction quality is good in my book. The functions are really easy to get to too.

With all that being said, this camera has everything I need for a simple point and shoot camera. You can only get expensive professional cameras as the next step up.

Flawed image stabilizer, otherwise a great camera

I have used this camera for more than a year. I have owned Canon and Fuji (all point-and-shoot class). The indoor picture quality of this camera is very poor compared to Canon. The color is washed out and image is not as sharp. Occasionally I would get blurred pictures for no good reason, I am guessing that my hand wasn't still and it's hard to keep your hand still for such a small camera. The optical image stabilizer is a joke. I tested several shots at various shutter speeds and no flash to measure its performance and didn't find that it helps making the image shaper at all. I actually sent it back to Panasonic to see if the OIS was defective. They said they tuned up something. I re-tested and the results were the same.

Everything else about this camera is great. Very compact and sturdy. Battery lasted forever. Very quick on everything i.e. startup, viewing, auto focus, shot-to-shot, and flash recharge. The customer service was excellent. Video quality is very good, with pretty low noise on the low-light condition, much better than canon and others I have used.

I bought this camera over a year ago and its still going strong! I love it so much and its gotten me through prom, graduation, and many football games at college! Hotty Toddy! The picture quality is great and the printed prints afterward are great too! I have no complaints about this camera!
