Wrong sd card in this kit screws up the camera

I bought this camera and kit for my daughter and it worked fine until today. The camera is not recognizing the card. I called Samsung support and was told that this is not the correct card for this camera. I told him I bought it as a package deal and he said that he did not care, it was the wrong card. Randy, the samsung support person says this camera needs a Micro SD memory card - 4 GB. The "kit" cost me almost a $100 extra so now it is trash and I need to go and buy the correct card. I have not yet determined if the wrong card has burned up my daughter's camera. That is tomorrow's adventure. But for today, I AM NOT HAPPY and neither is my daughter.

awesome camera and great package!

i got everything that the seller said they would give. including the 8 gig micro sd card. as for the lady saying that she got the wrong sd card, there's no such thing as "the wrong card burning up a camera." that's comletely ridiculous. if its the wrong card then its the wrong card it can't "burn up a camera". doesn't even matter because this samsung camera ONLY takes micro sd cards and you can't physically fit anything else in it seeing as how it is the smallest sd card. this kit that i got came with the sd card and the sd card adapter. maybe she didn't see that when she opened the camera, i don't know. but this was a great deal and it came with a lot of items for a cheap price. some of the items are a little needless but nonetheless this is an awesome deal. some of the items are also cheap but all you need is the micro sd and the camera and you're set. the screen protector is awesome and the camera case doesnt' fit perfectly but everything is still awesome!!

Great pics..

I have had this camera for about 3 months. I absolutely love it! I have 8month so you can imagine how many pics I take daily! I haven't had a problem with the lens getting stuck like a few others have commented. I am happy with my purchase! It takes absolutely amazing photos for a such a simple camera. My favorite feature is the "beauty shot" it hides blemishes :)

Great camera - no problems

Maybe it's just the grey ones that have a problem. Or just one bad lot. I bought the SL202 this summer and have not had any problems with it at all. It has a lot of terrific features and takes crisp pictures. You can set everything to 'auto' and let the camera do the work, or use the manual settings. The manual was readable enough to walk a first-time digital camera user like me through all of the different features.

I got this camera for Christmas and i love it. It's totally easy to use and the picture quality is great. My daughter loves to use it as well and so im looking on here to buy her the same one. I love the fact that it does video with sound and it's small enough to put in my purse or pocket.. You would be making a great purches!

Same issue as everyone else apparently

I was thinking of buying this camera then I read all of the reviews about the lens freezing up. I went to a Walmart by my house to actually test some cameras out and they had two different colors of this model on display. Both of their displays had the lens stuck halfway out and would only turn on for a second before shutting back down. This is apparently quite a widespread problem.

best camera I have ever owned

This is by far the best camera I have ever owned. Images are crisp and clear in light or dark. I havent messed around with editing the videos, however they do turn out nice. The only thing I do not like about this camera is that the lens gets stuck open on mine, a lot. To the point where it is almost always open. I keep it in a case so no big deal.

You Get What You Pay For

It's an OK camera, but it reminds me that sometimes you do get what you pay for. I was looking for a megapixel camera that does 1080p recording. While the camera is sturdy, portable, and relatively easy to use, the image quality isn't the best, or at least compared to using my DSLR. It's a nice camera to keep in my pocket when I'm out with friends, but does come with compromises. The picture quality is either really good or fuzzy, even with autofocus on. Overall, it's an OK camera. I prefer my DSLR but when trying to be a little more discreet, it's an OK camera to keep in your pocket.

I love this camera!! its so much more then i thought, and its so under priced for what its worth. the only thing is it doesn't have sound when you zoom in or out when your taking a video. other then that the pictures are crisp and clean. and its well build, a bit on the bulky side. but that makes me feel like im less liking to break it if i drop it. im very pleased with it =]

4 Bangs for your Buck

I bought this camera because I had lost my old Samsung NV camera. I love Samsung cameras, they have crisp color and image quality is amazing. Plus the look really hot. My girlfriend has a Nikon, and my parents have a Canon and I'd have to say this Samsung's pictures put them both to shame. My only real complaint about this camera is that the DIS (Dual Image Stabilization) is not that great. It comes standard in almost all their cameras, so I know it's not something I spent an extra penny on, but still. Besides that the screen on the back is gorgeous, it's easy to use. Picture quality is great and the video quality is amazing. But its not just the video, it's also the audio in the videos. It's awesome, especially for a digi still cam. It's a LITTLE on the thicker side (only a little though), it'll easily fit in a guys pocket. But ladies, you might need to carry one of those huge totes for this. It lags a little sometimes between pictures which is expected really and when you zoom during videos it cuts of audio while you're zooming (I guess to cut out motor noise?). All in all, this camera quality is amongst the best and it's priced very well in comparison. I haven't tested all the modes yet, but the Auto and Smart both work very well. The video, as I said, is amazing. Portrait is pretty good, though I sort of need to take it out on a real test run. But when all is said and done, go get it!

Disappointed with this camera

I've purchased this camera nearly a year ago and have been pleased with the pictures and the small form factor. I'm not thrilled with the proprietary USB cable but very much like the LED battery charge indicator on the plug which saves me from having to turn the camera on and look at the battery indicator.

Now to the bad: I started having problems with the lens mechanism where it would get stuck in the fully extended position with an annoying beep and the camera basically locks up. I found that I could "walk" the lens back down and in the closed position by manually twisting/turning the mechanism until it collapses into the camera housing. Finally it broke, on vacation of course, and would extend partially and stop locking the camera up in the process. Contacting Samsung support stinks and I have to fax proof that it's still under warranty before I can send it in. Wish I would have picked a different camera.
