Decent photos in daylight, but...
This camera takes excellent, high-resolution pictures outside. I found that it even worked quite well for action shots when there is plenty of sunlight. However, taking pictures indoors was another story. If there is any motion, indoor pictures come out blurry and grainy. I had tried taking pictures of hockey, in a very well-lit ice rink, and the pictures always come out brown and grainy. I have adjusted the settings as well as I could, but the amount you can change the aperture and speed of the exposure is very limited, even in the "Manual" mode. I even used a tripod, and the improvement was only marginal. Now, after 1 year of working normally (and the warranty expiring), it has developed a severe problem. It shuts down unexpectedly, regardless of the charge in the batteries. It does with with new, alkaline batteries as well as fully charged NiMH batteries. It takes pictures for a minute or two, then just shuts down. It does not even retract the lens. It just goes black. Obviously, there is some kind of short or poor connection in it, but it does not appear to be related to the battery door (a common problem area on many digital cameras). Thankfully, the credit card I used to purchase this extends the warranty, so I should be able to get my money back.

So, so disappointed.
I was thrilled to find a reasonably priced camera from a company I used to trust - what a disappointment. After only a couple months of light duty taking pictures of my kids and dogs, it now randomly shuts down regardless of how fresh the batteries are or what I do to try to solve the problems. When it shuts down, sometimes the lens stays open. Right now, I have this camera on my desk, stuck open, dead as a doornail. We tried cleaning the battery contacts but no dice. Google "s85 shuts down" and see that other people have had this problem.

What a battery PIG
First let me say that I love Samsung products. However, this camera is a battery PIG. I can only take up to 15 pictures before the camera starts beeping at me that the batteries are low. The video recording feature is very useful until you get 30 seconds into your video and the batteries are dead. I have tried 6 different kinds of batteries and the best have been the Duracell for electronic devices, which got me 23 pictures before being dead!! Great camera poorly executed. Come on Samsung, get it together.

Your getting a great camera for the price. Bargain
I am not sure why this camera got such a bad review from the below gentleman. This is a wonderful camera for the price and for your first or second camera. Also, gerat camera for students or those interested in digital photography. The camera has 4 mega pixels, which is actually really good. You can expect to pay around $149 for a camera like this at 4 Mega Pixels with a 4X Digital Zoom.
Please keep in mind that this is a Samsung product, which is known for it's wide success within the electronic industry. Your receiving a wonderfully built stage camera. It has a flash as well. Plus, a view screen.
I'm really happy with it. Simple to use. Takes great pictures.

A decent starter
When we bought this a few years ago 4.0 mega pixel was much better than the 1.3 my phone had. Heck my current phone is only 3.2....well...it's a PHONE. Anyway, I have taken thousands of pictures with this little unit and any bad ones were my fault, not the camera. I had to remind myself that this was not the professional set up I had shooting weddings back in the late 70's. The point is not to try and make this camera into something it is not. The flash is good but doesn't have alot of depth so don't be surprised when that shot in a dark restaurant has bright foregrounds and dark backgrounds. It's got a macro setting for close ups, a small zoom, a place to attach a tri-pod, SD card slot, and different selections for night shots and video. All in all it's got alot of great features for the price.
There are though, a couple of things one should consider. It does take 8-10 seconds between shots as it processes and readies for the next one, so stop action will not be this cameras claim to fame. Personally I take at least 15 seconds to look, and frame up a good picture. The other item is that the LCD screen is small. I use the viewfinder to shoot as you can frame your pictures better and the screen for a general look or to show someone. I do more critical viewing when I download to my home computer via the USB to camera cable.
All in all this was a fine first digital for us, and is what I carry on my motorcycle as the phone can only handle so many pictures.

cheap
the worst camera I've ever had.....tried to educate myself & read the manual to figure out if I'm missing something ...no use..!! takes too long between shots....so forget it with kids.....LCD screen very bad if it's not bright sunny day forget about image quality....indoor pics very bad...don't waste a penny on this camera...after a year of struggle..I'm looking for another one now.

Terrible Inconsistent Photos
Got this camera a couple of years ago. It has been bad from the start. A lot of photos turns the subject (person) into a ghost. Their faces turn bright white rendering the photo itself useless. I have tried every concveivable setting and even if I am in the same light with the same setting, same distance, etc. The photos will be completely different. One decent and the other turning the person into a glowing white ghost. Shutter time is eternal ruining any GOOD candid shots you might have gotten. Kids get impatient waiting for it to take the photo. Both of these problems render it useless in it's purpose. Taking pictures and capturing memories.

Samsung cust. service is horrible!
I bought this little camera approx. a year ago. Takes great pictures and is really easy to use. The Shutter started not closing approx. 8 months ago, so I assumed it was a battery problem. Over time, it started not closing and now it won't open, nor will it close. I emailed Tech support at Samsung, and they basically gave me the run around. I love this little camera and I do recommend purchasing it at such a low price, but I just hope it holds up better for someone else. I have since bought a new Canon camera. It is great, but I miss some of the features that this little jewel has.

sweet litte camera!
Super easy to use if you don't have the time or inclination to get familiar with all the features. But the various features do allow some creativity with a little study time in the manual. Fits nicely in a pocket, durable, quick on and off, nice clear pictures. Perfect for the price!

OK Camera for the Price
The Samsung S860 is most suitable for those who need a fairly inexpensive compact camera that takes acceptable quality pictures most settings. This is not a camera for the serious photographer, but is good enough as a backup or for teens. Here are my observations:
Pros - + Inexpensive; good features for the price + Small Size; fits easily in a pocket or purse + Good Movie Mode; not HD, but usable for school projects + Good Face Detection; ensures people stay in focus + Artistic Mode; including Black & White, Sepia, Red, Blue, Green, and Negative + 3x Optical Zoom; while I don't like the button placement, the zoom is responsive + Good Picture Quality; when the flash is used or in bright lighting, the picture quality is good
Cons - - Poor Low Light Quality; this camera needs light! - Poor "Recycle Time"; time between pictures can be several seconds - Poor Battery Life; really should use rechargeables (takes 2x AA) as regular batteries die fast when using the flash
My daughter was given this camera as gift by a friend and she is happy enough with it, but I wouldn't trust it capture important family memories.

PS1) SAMSUNG NV3 DIGITAL CAMERA
Customer Review :
Best Digital Camera for this price range by FAR
I've tried all those cheap Canon and Casion cameras you can buy at Costco, and the quality of the photos were pixelized and blurry. With this camera, you will get clear pictures almost all the time and the quality is amazing. Samsung is a high quality company and it shows with this camera. We have a Samsung 42" HDTV and it is great so I bought this camera as well. It has great flash and great scenario options. If your looking for a good stable with great quality photos for this price range, look no further because you won't find a better quality camera. I knew it was good when I first got it because it is durable and heavier than those cheap cameras.

sucky service
The seller never got back to be, I waited almost 2 months before I had to file a A-Z garentee to get my money back. They never sent me the product or respond back to my emails.

CAN'T BEAT THIS CAMERA.
I purchased this about 8 months ago. I have found little to complain about. It does all I want and then some. I have worked with a lot of cameras and this is by far the easiest to work. I carry it everywhere. I have 5 grandchildren and I need speed. One grandson (age 3) has taken to photography and loves this camera. His pictures are really pretty good. When I walk into his house it's nana cheese. Truly a camera for young and old. Samsung - keep up the quality.

Great camera clear photos good settings
I got this camera elsewhere online but I figured I'd write a review here for it. It is made by Samsung so you know the durability is good. It is a bit on the heavier side, but it isn't terrible. I kind of like it a bit heavier considering I held those Polaroid and other digital cameras they sell for the same price and I felt like I was going to break it. Also when electronics are heavy that pretty much means they are good, but not in all cases. I had the camera for over a year now I think and putting it on the P setting which I guess is picture, is amazing. It detects whether it needs flash or not and takes the picture instantly so there is no hand motion shaking to make it blurry. It has worked wonders and the only time I take it off that setting now is to take video which is what I am going to review next. The video settings are awesome, it has Widescreen and Full Screen options and adds the black top and bottom bars for Widescreen. You can also do it in pretty high resolutions like 640x480 which is pretty good. Pictures can be taken way high up to 7MB a file which is huge. I leave it on 500k a file for eBay and craigslist photos and with my 2gb flash memory card, I can take over 12,000 of those size photos which is astounding. Also the last thing is that this camera can also be used as an Mp3 player. The sound from it is just as good as a regular mp3 player if not better. So all in all, this camera gets a 5 out of 5 star rating. The only bad thing that isn't worth a star is that the battery life has begun to decrease after a year but I believe that is normal.

A Great camera , a great MPV, a great mp3 player, a great keeper.
Although I paid $480 when I bought it in a trip to Korea 4 years ago, I still feel it's worth the money. The picture quality is great. I think point and shot cameras are built on rangefinder architect. Rangefinder camera always gets better pictures than SLR. I bought a canon dslr before it doesn't power up so I return it. Last year I bought another canon dslr before a trip to Paris. When I came back from the trip and compair the pictures on my computer, I found the samsung point and shot camera's pictures are much better than the canon. Guess what, I returned the canon again. It's also a nice MPV and mp3 player. I converted lots of movies into the SD cards and had a lots of fun on the flights. The batter last very long. I also bought two more batteries from ebay for $8. This Samsung camera is a great keeper.

new samsung camera user
Just received the Samsung TL 90 camera and it seems to work very well. It's pretty intuitive and very close in operation to the Nikon camera I used to have. The pictures all seem to come out well and I really like the 2.7" screen. Tried to install the software and ALAS no can do. It only works on PC's ....basically Windows software. I've got a MAC so there is no support. It works ok since I have a printer that allows me to pull the SD card and download the photos thru that but it would be nice to be able use the editing software that is available on the CD. Maybe sometime soon Samsung will see fit to provide software for the MAC, so in the meantime unless you have a PC I'd buy another camera.

Question : Where can I find a good repair shop for my new Samsung digital camera in Morocco?
On extended vacation in Casablanca, Morocco. My new Samsung digitial camera I bought in the States has quite working and keeps saying low battery even when new batteries are put in. Also the focus has turned blurry. Cant seem to find anyone to repair or even understand the problem. It cost §80 new US cash to buy a new one here would be close to §200 for the same model, not an option. Any help would be greatly appreciated, a trip with no pictures would be really sad!
Answer:
Forget it, just buy a new camera! That is what being a good little consumer is all about!Buy a$200 camera, In your case get it for $80 in another country and when it breaks its cost $200 to send it to be fixed (not to mention the BS and run around). You see finding a shop that fixes small electronics is impossible, there just is not enough pay on the investment for people to that anymore, you will just have to send it in and deal the inconvenience!Or Buy a new Camera!Things today are designed not to last and be very expensive, sorry!

Question : Can anyone tell me about the Samsung L200 digital camera?
It looks like a great camera for the price ($150). 10.2 MP, 2.5 inch LCD, but only 3x optical zoom. Anyone have one? Are you happy with it? And what is the reputation of Samsung cameras in general? Thanks.
Answer:
It uses a lithium ion battery, which is good. It's got optical image stabilization, which is good. It looks good for the price.

Question : Help! My Samsung digital camera won't open its shutter or turn on. I tried to recharge battery but not work!?
I have a Samsung SL202 intelligent LCD digital camera which I love. Few days back I got a low battery message then it shut down. I used my USB cable to recharge the Li-ion battery, but it is not recharging. I have taken the battery out and put it back in, jiggled the chords, etc. What am I missing???? I am quite frustrated. Any help or thoughts greatly appreciated.
Answer:
Maybe the battery is done for. Batteries don't have eternal life nor can sleep for eaons. No they are chemical little storage cans that will lose their ability to hold energy slowly. After harsh use or a certain time, a few years that is, the rechargable battery is unable to hold charge. So what to do? Buy a new battery, available on your online and local photo stores :)Remember batteries are chemical waste!

Question : Did anyone else buy the Samsung D53 digital camera at Walmart? How does Samsung compare with Polaroid?
This must have been a Walmart exclusive because it's not listed on the Samsung web site as a model. Does anyone know how this camera would compare with the Polaroid A700 which was on sale at Kmart? Any opinions on who might make the best inexpense digital camera--Samsung or Polaroid? I do know that the Samsung is very confusing to use out of the box. There are many features but a steep learning curve on figuring out how to use them.
Answer:
Neither.I don't know how much retailers are advertising these for, but if Canon, Olympus, Fuji or Kodak had one within $100, I would opt for one of those and consider it money well spent.I use a Samsung digicam at work for taking passport photos and it is completely unimpressive. Polaroid spent a lot of time in bankruptcy, and is behind on the digital curve.Good luck in finding the right camera.BTW, if you are switching from a film camera, ALL digicams have a steep learning curve!

Question : What is the indication that my samsung digital camera is charged ?
what is the indication that my samsung digital camera is charged ?
Answer:
It depends on your camera. But usually there's a bar - similar to those on cell phones - that show how full the battery is. That bar gets shorter as the battery drains. Always good to keep the battery charged by the time it gets to the 1/2-1/3 mark in case a great shooting oppty comes up and you don't have a couple hours to charge.I always carry a spare charged battery (and extra memory cd) with me too...
