Didn't even last 6 months
This camera was worthless. It cost me a lot of money, and the quality was horrible. It took a long time for the pictures load and it had a slow shutter speed. This camera didnt even last for 6 months. and even before that a lot of times it wouldn't turn on right away and I would have to turn it on and off several times before it would start up. It was a very poor quality camera, for a lot of money. I dont recemmend this camera to anyone.
Rating :
Yeah, Junk!
2 good things about it (when it worked) was the Wide Angle Lens, and the LCD is large.
Eventually, the lens stopped focusing upon start up, I would have to restart it multiple times for it to finally work. Then, the telescopic lens just decided to stop moving and not retract, rendering it useless.
I got little use out of this camera. Samsung makes good cameras, just stay away from this one.

Junk
This is one of the worst electronics purchases I have ever made. Frankly, when it did work, it did not work correctly. I got virtually use out of it before it died. I must say I am glad that it died early, because I can get reimbursed for this piece of junk by the Mastercard extended warranty program.

Great camera - when it works
Camera worked great right after we bought it in June 2006. By January 2007, it was slow to open, and I'd have to bang it with my hand or tilt it a certain way to get it to open and turn on. I'm going to see about the warranty to get it fixed.
Oh, it does eat batteries. But we started using rechargeables shortly after purchase, and it takes a lot longer for the camera to eat those... I can get triple the pics off rechargeable batteries.
I have no issues with downloading photos.
That is, when it works.
Edited to add: The camera is pretty much dead now. Granted, I gave it a hell of a workout when I first got it (5200 pictures in the first month), but I haven't used it more than might be typical usage since. It won't even turn on anymore, and I have pictures I need to offload.
Rating :
worst camera
The features are neato, but the designers forgot one of the basic issues of electrical engineering: POWER CONSUMPTION. This thing lasts about 5 minutes on normal batteries. Therefore almost totally unusable. Very disappointed.

GREAT BUY! UPDATE!! GO TO SEARS.COM TO GET FOR $129 DEAL!!!
I got this camera (red) as a black friday/cyber monday deal [...] and I am completely impressed about the quality of pictures. I have a [...] kodak and I have been looking for a good point and shoot to replace/supplement it. The screen is big, the lcd screen shows a crisp view of the pic with very clear and deep colors. The extra features are really nice too. I'm still exploring them, but, I heard a song on the mp3 mode, the world map/tour thing is really interesting; gives you attraction sites in multiple places around the world, and the video/movie mode looks really really good too. My requirements for a new camera were, at least a 3" lcd, compact size, and good pics. I also tested a Nikon (s52)which was more expensive, had less features and more importantly the pictures were so grainy compared to this one; it was a huge difference. So huge that I realized what a good deal I had gotten and quickly got back online and ordered another one of these for a gift. I'll update after more experience but, just wanted to let people know this is a very good option.

No more Samsung anything!
My husband bought the camera from Sear's on 12/1/08 as a Christmas gift to me. I was pleased with it until 12/4/09 when it would not come on. (It has a 1 year warranty) I took it to Sear's on 12/5/09 and the guys in electronics tried to figure out the problem but couldn't. Just got off the phone with Samsung Customer Service and was informed my warranty expired in April 09 even though I had a receipt for 12/1/08. Also it was going to cost a minimum of $50.00 to fix the camera. We will never purchase another Samsung product again.

DO NOT BUY THIS CAMERA YOU WILL REGRET IT FOR YEARS!!!!!!!
This is the WORST PRODUCT with the WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!! I only gave it one star because I had to, but it does not deserve ANY!!!!! I bought this camera last November and have yet to have a camera that works. I have sent it in FOUR times to be fixed and the last time I sent it in (a month ago) I have STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED IT BACK!!!!! When I asked for a refund, I was refused and they said that they could only send me a black camera (which after a month of waiting they have not sent me). Each time I sent it in to be fixed it was because it stopped taking pictures after recharging the battery. I cannot believe that Samsung has not refunded my money after they convinced me to buy their piece of GARBAGE!!!!!!! How is it that a company can sell a product that doesn't work and not refund your money after a year of CRAPY SERVICE and HEADACHE? I will NEVER buy a Samsung product again!!!!!

Samsung has hit it Big with this one!
I've been a Samsung Camera lover for a long time. I began with the Digimax S500, then upgraded to Samsung NV3, and now I recently purchased the Samsung i85. I've tried other cameras like the Sony Cybershot DSC S730, but returned it instantly at poor picture quality and lack of image stabilization (Don't be fooled by the SONY brand name, this camera is not good!). Then I bought an Olympus FE-230, and although the picture quality was great and the camera was slim and lightweight, it was too slow at taking pictures for my taste.
After my failed attempts, I bought the Samsung NV3, which is a perfect camera. It takes great pictures, amazing videos with great sound, and you can even hear MP3s on it. After having a successful buy with the Samsun NV3, I decided to upgrade and immediately fell in love with the Samsung i85. This camera has it all. It takes beautiful pictures both inside and outside. It has many features in which you can tweek your camera into taking great pictures despite the horrid conditions outside.
The face recognition function, image stabilization, and ASR function make this camera perfect for portraits and up close and personal pictures. The pictures are so crisp and clear that it makes the worst looking image look beautiful. Videos turn out nice, with great sound quality; however, it is better to take videos in well lit areas. The World Tour guide function seems to be really cool and educational, but I haven't really messed around with that yet.
Moving on, Samsung's i85 is a great camera for those who want great pictures, and don't want to spend too much on a digital camera. Samsung cameras are also very durable and with the internal zoom, you won't have to worry about messing up the lense. Battery life is very good, but I feel that the NV3 has a longer battery life span. The LCD display screen is huge and great for previewing pictures. I do recommend for those who are purchasing this camera to buy it either in silver or black, as they look nicer with time.
Overall, this is a great camera and you'll definitely be content with your purchase!

battery life unacceptable
We bought this camera for my daughter for Christmas after doing much research. I have been terribly disappointed in the battery life. She has to charge it before every use. I have a Fuji Finepix that I can keep in my purse for months and use it periodically and it holds a charge for months at a time. I called Samsung and asked why the camera would not hold a charge for more than a day at a time and they told me that is normal for this camera and there is no fix for it. Very disappointing. If you buy this camera, plan to charge it daily. What a pain!!

Worst Camera I've Ever Owned!
I bought this camera because at the time, I liked the specs on it & it was a reasonable price. But I guess this camera goes to show you that you get what you pay for! This camera is a notch below okay. It isn't something I'd recommend to anyone, not even my worst enemy. You can put brand new batteries in it & you have about 5, 10 minutes before they're dead & you have to replace them. It doesn't even go easy on rechargeable batteries, no matter what brand. This camera is also not good for events like concerts or anywhere you think you'll be taking a lot of pictures (believe me, I've learned from personal experience). It was annoying taking a couple of pictures, then immediately turning it off to save battery life so I could take a couple more pictures, only to turn it back off to continue saving battery life so I can have enough to take pictures of the other bands that were playing. If you're trying to record a video, forget it, brand new batteries or not. If you have a 15 minute video you're wanting to record, you better cut that sucker down to 5 minutes because that's about how long it will take before your batteries are dead.
My advice is - don't waste your money on this camera! Spare an extra few dollars for a better one that comes with its own battery that you can charge & will last you a good 13 - 15 hrs! The battery life was my main peeve about this camera.

RE: Short Battery Life Samsung S630
If you have a problem with short battery life AND assuming you are using High Output NiMH Rechargeable Batteries (if not go get a set first) then follow these steps 1) Camera ON 2)Press "Menu OK" 3)Go to "Setup 2" 4) Scroll down to "Battery Type" 5)Change this to "NiMH" 6)Press "Menu OK" to save. Assuming good battery quality and full charge you should now be able to take A LOT more pictures. Many thanks to my mom whose camera was taking only 5-15 pics on a charge. CHEERS!

It was good for a little while
I got this camera last year it worked great for awhile. I have to agree with most of the customers the battery life stopped working. I turned the camera on last week it beeped three times and when off that was it. I replaced the battery but it still beeping and shut off. I have a new camera now but another brand.

Not Worth Buying
I bought this camera new from J&R in New York and it lasted less than a year (or about 3, 2-week trips). I paid $89.99 plus tax and when I went to have it repaired I was quoted $80.00 and told by a third-party repair service that the problem with the lens was very common with this camera and brand. The picture quality and other features are no better or worse than you might expect but there is no durability. It breaks down at the one-year mark (end of warranty). In short, it is a piece of Chinese-made JUNK.

Customer Review :
Amazing camera, I have ever seen among the compacter once!!
Well, I took this camera, as my older one was giving troubles. And I can clearly make out its superior features on the very first day, and sitting down typing this today itself, as I want the future customers - YOU to benefit out of my feelings on the very first day..
I have been photographing since my early teens and am an avid photographer, having operated upon a range of old-model manual cameras in mid 80's, until recently when I came accross a digital camera which I bought last year. However, having felt the necessity to procure a better quality, I bought this one this year, and I am highly satisfied with its performance, given the size and price-line.
I tried shooting in all sorts of conditions on my very first day with it: daylight, cloud, indoors, night-time, closepus, macro-mode..and I find the quality very superior to my earlier camera (s), of comparable specifications..
Images are crisp clear; I even captured the US flag on the empire state building using the zoom feature, and the output is as lively and clear , I didnt even imagine!! The manual mode along with the auto mode gives amateur as well as experienced one's equal ease and freedom to handle and operate his one!!
Though the dimensions and weight are bit more, but its worth for the quality of foto it produces..
I would highly recommend you to go for this, if you are planning to shop for a mid-range camera in terms of price, and expect an outcome of a higher-end camera !!
Go ahead, get it.. and enjoy photographing, falling in love with it on the very first day !!

Amazing Camera...nothing bad to report!
My wife and I got this camera for Christmas in 2004, and it has become the favorite of our camera menagerie. The small size makes it way easier to take on trips than our SLR cameras. It's also very durable - I dropped it in the airport whole trying to take a picture and everything stayed intact! We took this camera to Cozumel with us and captured some incredible images with it. There are so many features on this camera, more than a novice photographer will ever get around to using, let alone perfecting - which is nice because it gives way more options for taking great, creative photos than other cameras! We have had this camera for coming up on a year now, and i am still learning new things about it! Bottom line, I love this camera. I am an avid photographer and my wife often has to wrestle this one away from me to get her turn behind the lens! A truly amazing camera for novice or experienced photogrpahers!

Great camera with excellent quality
I bought this camera more than a month ago and have been surprised by versatility of the camera and quality of the images. It makes great shots in almost any lighting conditions - I tried at night, indoors, sunsets, and snow. Colors are natural. Its macro mode works great. It has A/S/M manual controls which is very useful for experienced photographers. It has exposure compensation of +-2EV with steps of 0.5 EV and manual ISO selection. It has spot metering as well as multi-zone metering.
It's not large and very easy to carry.
To tell you the truth once I bought this camera I started to have doubts whether I need my Nikon N75 SLR since this small Samsung camera almost matches features and quality of a higher end SLR cameras.
Minor downsides include occasional difficulty focusing in low light which can be overcome by using fixed distance settings (1M, 2M and infinity). It also lacks manual focus found in V50 model.
Depth of field is very good (sometimes too good for close-up shots making it difficult to blur the background) but this is common to most of compact digital cameras.
Bottom line I highly recommend this camera and think that it could suit beginners as well as more advanced photographers.

Great Find
Little camera....lotta fun!!! I bought this camera a few years ago and have loved it ever since. The pictures come out very clear. I choose to have mine printed at the local CVS and I edit them ahead of time. Though it takes an extra second for the zoom to frame the shot it's worth it. Having two toddler nieces I've been able to document many special moments, giggles, and smiles!!! I hope you enjoy this camera as much as I did. This is an easy to use point and shoot!!! Enjoy!!

Question : Did anyone else buy the Samsung D53 digital camera at Walmart? How does Samsung compare with Polaroid?
This must have been a Walmart exclusive because it's not listed on the Samsung web site as a model. Does anyone know how this camera would compare with the Polaroid A700 which was on sale at Kmart? Any opinions on who might make the best inexpense digital camera--Samsung or Polaroid? I do know that the Samsung is very confusing to use out of the box. There are many features but a steep learning curve on figuring out how to use them.
Answer:
Neither.I don't know how much retailers are advertising these for, but if Canon, Olympus, Fuji or Kodak had one within $100, I would opt for one of those and consider it money well spent.I use a Samsung digicam at work for taking passport photos and it is completely unimpressive. Polaroid spent a lot of time in bankruptcy, and is behind on the digital curve.Good luck in finding the right camera.BTW, if you are switching from a film camera, ALL digicams have a steep learning curve!

Question : What memory card is needed for a Samsung L200 digital camera?
I have a san disk 256 mg, would that work with a samsung camera?
Answer:
This camera uses an SD memory card, you don't say what type of memory card your San Disk card is so I can't tell you if it will work or not.If it's a small, thin rectangle and says 'SD' on the bottom left then it will work with your camera. If its a square and says 'CF' then it will not work.Hope this helps.Thomas

Question : Where can I find a good repair shop for my new Samsung digital camera in Morocco?
On extended vacation in Casablanca, Morocco. My new Samsung digitial camera I bought in the States has quite working and keeps saying low battery even when new batteries are put in. Also the focus has turned blurry. Cant seem to find anyone to repair or even understand the problem. It cost §80 new US cash to buy a new one here would be close to §200 for the same model, not an option. Any help would be greatly appreciated, a trip with no pictures would be really sad!
Answer:
Forget it, just buy a new camera! That is what being a good little consumer is all about!Buy a$200 camera, In your case get it for $80 in another country and when it breaks its cost $200 to send it to be fixed (not to mention the BS and run around). You see finding a shop that fixes small electronics is impossible, there just is not enough pay on the investment for people to that anymore, you will just have to send it in and deal the inconvenience!Or Buy a new Camera!Things today are designed not to last and be very expensive, sorry!

Sometime later I put new batteries in to close the lens but the lens wouldn't come back in. I looked and found out the outer tube is sorta crooked. Is there anything i can do to fix it without bringing it to a samsung center?
Answer:
have it repaired

Question : Samsung digital camera, what am I doing wrong?
I just bought a samsung ES55 digital camera and I can only seem to store 19 pictures on the actual camera. I don't have a memory card in it but can buy and put one in if needs be. I have reduced the quality of the pics I am taking and put everything that could take up memory to the lowest possible setting. Is this normal because I can't believe for an £80 camera you would only store 19 pics???? Does this mean a memory card is essential for use?
Answer:
You're not doing anything wrong. The internal memory is very small.Yes you'll want / need a memory card. It will store far more than the internal.By the way, read your owner's manual to learn what size and style of card you need and your camera will support before you go buy.
