Good quality
Very good quality item. Pictures are generally good except on low light conditions (of course). Long lasting battery and very easy to use. Reload time is acceptable but a bit faster would be excellent. Small enough to be carried in a pouch but not small enough for a shirt's pocket. Video is very good. Overall very good product.

Novist Review
This is my first camera ever. I am a novist who learned all this stuff in my research. I spent 2-3 weeks researching cameras. Everyone (my father, friends, co-workers **one girls father is a professional photographer**) told me a Canon was the way to go for its "HIGH" quality and durability. But all my research came back with poor to questionable customer reviews, both on and off Amazon. I also looked at the Fuji, Olympus, Panasonic, Sony, and a few more. Except for ONE Fuji camera (might have been the Fujifilm FinePix J150 or Fujifilm FinePix Z200fd **I forget**), they all had problems. After teaching myself about cameras, I learned that for a point and shoot camera there are 5 things I wanted: Small (so it can fit into my pocket and not be bulky), great to excellent picture quality/clarity, a decent zoom (3x-5x, but preferably nothing less than 4x), quick shots (so that if I am shooting something that moves, its not gone by the time the picture is taken), and very small delays between the ability to take the next picture. Sounds simple enough, right? WRONG! All the camera's in the $100-$300 range (especially the 12MP ones) had problems in many of these categories. Even some of the newest and highly boasted Canon cameras had especially poor picture quality and took up to 7 seconds to snap a photo! I read about frequent camera users who were so disappointed with their Canon PowerShot SD1300IS or Canon PowerShot SD780IS that they reverted back to their older, out dated Canon!
Now, all hail the Samsung SL420!!! I can fit it in the same pocket as my cell phone which is about the same size but a little thinner. If I wanted to, I could even stuff in my iPod Touch and keys. The picture clarity is wonderful. I can see ALL the details. It has a 5x zoom (at very good quality), which beats out the best Canon's below $200 (they are usually 3x or 4x zoom). It takes quick shots so I can catch things that move (yesterday I caught a robin walking in central park). And the delays between shots is 2-3 seconds AT MOST.
Added BONUSES: The camera is well constructed and I don't expect it to break on impact (sorry, but I wont be testing this out for you). Samsung (although not known for cameras) is still a quality name in electronics. Considering that this is a camera and not a video recorder, you can still shoot video with fantastic quality, and yes you can zoom in and out while using the video function. The camera is so easy to use. I read about people giving this camera to their elderly, technologically deficient parents, and it really is as simple to use as they say. I haven't changed a single setting. The camera's Smart photo technology automatically selects the best settings for the environment your in. I can even get great pictures in the pitch black dark (excellent flash). The charger cord is short (about 1.5ft), but you can leave the rechargeable battery in the camera. You just attach one end of the cord into the available slot in the camera and the other end of the cord into your computer (USB port) OR the convertible wall charger that comes with the camera. However, you cant download pictures using this cord. All of this by the way for the low, low price of $120, far cheaper than the `finest' Canon camera's. I will note right now that the reason why I didn't go for the previously mentioned Fuji camera is because it was about $30 more expensive, had fewer customer reviews (so it was more difficult to verify its quality), and I liked the Samsung brand better. On the downside, the camera does not come with its own memory card (you will have to buy this separately), but I read it can take exactly 2 photo's without one.
Two more things to note for novists: First, a camera's megapixel (MP) capacity determines how high the quality for the photo will be. Also, the more MP, the larger your photo's can be when developed. Think of your flat screen TV. Those are usually rated these days using 720MP or 1080MP. Many people out there are all about the 12MP camera technology, which is why they wouldn't even look at this 10MP Samsung camera. I say, get over yourself. For the most part, the ONLY benefit of 12MP technology is turning a photo into a giant poster. Otherwise (and I spoke to a few people at Target, Best Buy, Radio Shack, and Kmart about this), if you have no intentions of hanging posters of yourself on your wall, then any camera that does 8MP or greater is MORE THAN suitable for taking high quality photos that can fit large picture frames. Remember, people have been taking wonderful pictures without 12MP technology for decades. You don't need it. Second, for my memory card I got the SanDisk Extreme III 4 GB Class 6 SDHC Flash Memory Card SDSDRX3-4096-A21. My research indicated that fast memory cards are important to decrease the shot time between photos because of the time (transfer rate) it takes for the camera to save the picture onto the memory card. I also read that it decreases the download time of photos onto your computer, but this wasn't important to me. Regardless, I decided that I would not want to ruin this fast shot camera by giving it a poor, slow memory card. A Class 6 (that's suppose to indicate its speed) memory card is the best you can get right now. I also read that with 4GB (there is an equivalent 8GB and maybe 16GB) you can shoot around 800-1000+ photos or about 10-12+ minutes of video (you should do more research on its video capacity if this is important to you). This is more than enough space for my purposes and the Amazon price of $24 is a better price than other web site or store offers (I have no affiliation with Amazon. I'm just telling you how it is to help you out.). As expected, the memory card has worked wonderfully.

Fits the purpose
My wife wanted a camera to take on her trips. It had to be small, light, not overly expensive, take good pictures, battery last for the trip and be simple to use. She took it on a trip and came back with good pictures. It fit the purpose just fine.

DO NOT GET IF YOU WANT QUALITY VIDEO!
When i got this camera, it was really easy to set up and use. The pictures are great but there is one MAJOR flaw with it that there is no info on anywhere i looked; When recording video, when you're zooming in and out, the audio (all sound) will be cut. It WILL NOT record any audio durring zooming on a video. I was very disapointed in this because when taping a performance or anything, its next to impossible to take quality video (zooming in on faces and such) while also being able to get all the audio. If you want to just take pictures its great but as for video... well you might as well throw it in the trash.

Nice Point and Shoot
Bought this camera for my mother for Christmas. She had an older point and shoot (Canon) that wasn't getting it done for her. She would try to take pictures of the grand-kids and they would be gone before the picture took. We got her this camera and it works flawlessly. Quick pictures, convienent settings, great quality photos, rechargeable battery and charger. Nice. Small, yet functional, easy to set up and use. With my mother, is has to be easy to use and not require many steps, she is not really electronics "savvy." This camera is exactly what she needs, great pricing and simple to use. You get a nice point and shoot camera thats functional for a good price. You want really high quality pictures with tons of options, get a SLR. You want conveinence and good price in a small yet sturdy package, get this camera.

| Editorial Review :
The Samsung TL320, with a 5x optical zoom and 24mm ultra wide lens, breaks ground by featuring the world's first 3.0-inch VGA AMOLED screen. The organic LED screen out performs conventional TFT LCD screens with better contrast and a brighter screen that really helps when shooting in both bright sunlight and dark conditions. The 960k pixel packed screen also shows fantastic detail when framing the shot and in playback. The 12 mega pixel TL320 also includes HD movie capture so you can "Pause and Re-record" high definition videos and super sharp movie-quality recordings in one movie clip - a Samsung patented function. The cameras also include "Smart Auto" (Scene Recognition) technology: 11 optimized picture pre-settings such as Portrait, Night portrait, Macro and Macro Color, to help take the perfect shot regardless of the conditions.

great pictures horrible quality camera
I got this camera back in November. Loved it and took many photos with it. Its like my DSLR but pocket sized. The reason i rated it so low is to get your attention to warn you. After a few month of babying this camera a spot appeared on the image sensor. With an SLR you can just hit a button on the camera and it'll clean itself, but not a point and shoot. I sent it into samsung and they replaced the sensor. Worked great for a few weeks until it stopped turning on. I had to remove the battery and replace it just to get the camera to turn on. Then this wouldn't even work. I tried a different battery, but nothing would help. Also when i managed to turn it on i noticed there was another spot in almost the same location. This camera was amazing, But Samsung, i have noticed, is not the best for quality. This camera is now a 400 dollar paper weight.

Might prove to be a good product but service is questionable
I purchased this camera in part because of the use of the OLED display ( which does add to battery life significantly), I took a number of close up photos using the flash and the flash lens blacken. I called for service and was give a return ticket number, I UPS'ed the camera to the only repair shop on the west coast. They received it three weeks ago and I have yet to receive a confirmed return date. Each time I inquire I am told I will be shipped a replacement camera. I have called three times and each time the "date" for replacement approval slides to within two days of when I call. The service tracking web site looks good but no info about the repair or replacement ever seems to get onto the web site.
Update, it is now one month since the Samsung repair dept. in Cal. received my camera. Still no definite data for repair or replacement. Getting very discouraged.
Now one month and a week after Samsung repair dept. received my camera and still no definitely word about when I can expect a replacement or repair. Many calls, many promises but no action.
I guess I'll just have to write off the purchase of the camera to poor judgement on my part. Buyer beware still holds.....................
Surprise, Samsung clams to have ordered a replacement, only after 3 months of back and forth calls, e mails, etc. So I guess patience pays off? I still would be wary of Samsung service responsiveness.

Great Casual Camera
First off, this camera is gorgeous. People compliment me on how good this camera looks. Brushed steel look on the front is fantastic, same for the blue outline of lens. The screen is large and crisp, great for seeing detail in your images. The image quality (depends on scenario) is very clear, catches nice detail and noise/grain is very low compared to my Sony DSC W290, and comparable to my Nikon D50 DSLR camera. The camera is small and lightweight, will fit in your pocket and holds a battery charge for a day of several pictures w/o flash. The 720p video quality is lacking, very grainy. Sound is okay/average too, so don't use this camera if you want clear HD video with great sound. The features on this camera are nice, such as the smile detection and blink detection. Using the manual mode I am able to get beautiful night time shots (not of moving people, but of landscapes).
Overall this is a great point & shoot for if you want to get familiar with a camera, don't want to carry a DSLR camera around, or if you just want a camera that looks flashy, is reliable, and works well.

SAMSUNG S860 BLACK DIGITAL CAMERA
Customer Review :
Great for the Price
I realy like this camera! It is easy to use and takes good quality pictures for the price. I have issues with the macro option; can't often get a clear picture.

Samsung cust. service is horrible!
I bought this little camera approx. a year ago. Takes great pictures and is really easy to use. The Shutter started not closing approx. 8 months ago, so I assumed it was a battery problem. Over time, it started not closing and now it won't open, nor will it close. I emailed Tech support at Samsung, and they basically gave me the run around. I love this little camera and I do recommend purchasing it at such a low price, but I just hope it holds up better for someone else. I have since bought a new Canon camera. It is great, but I miss some of the features that this little jewel has.
Rating :
sweet litte camera!
Super easy to use if you don't have the time or inclination to get familiar with all the features. But the various features do allow some creativity with a little study time in the manual. Fits nicely in a pocket, durable, quick on and off, nice clear pictures. Perfect for the price!
Rating :
OK Camera for the Price
The Samsung S860 is most suitable for those who need a fairly inexpensive compact camera that takes acceptable quality pictures most settings. This is not a camera for the serious photographer, but is good enough as a backup or for teens. Here are my observations:
Pros - + Inexpensive; good features for the price + Small Size; fits easily in a pocket or purse + Good Movie Mode; not HD, but usable for school projects + Good Face Detection; ensures people stay in focus + Artistic Mode; including Black & White, Sepia, Red, Blue, Green, and Negative + 3x Optical Zoom; while I don't like the button placement, the zoom is responsive + Good Picture Quality; when the flash is used or in bright lighting, the picture quality is good
Cons - - Poor Low Light Quality; this camera needs light! - Poor "Recycle Time"; time between pictures can be several seconds - Poor Battery Life; really should use rechargeables (takes 2x AA) as regular batteries die fast when using the flash
My daughter was given this camera as gift by a friend and she is happy enough with it, but I wouldn't trust it capture important family memories.

Questions & Answers
Question : Help! My Samsung digital camera won't open its shutter or turn on. I tried to recharge battery but not work!?
I have a Samsung SL202 intelligent LCD digital camera which I love. Few days back I got a low battery message then it shut down. I used my USB cable to recharge the Li-ion battery, but it is not recharging. I have taken the battery out and put it back in, jiggled the chords, etc. What am I missing???? I am quite frustrated. Any help or thoughts greatly appreciated.
Answer:
Maybe the battery is done for. Batteries don't have eternal life nor can sleep for eaons. No they are chemical little storage cans that will lose their ability to hold energy slowly. After harsh use or a certain time, a few years that is, the rechargable battery is unable to hold charge. So what to do? Buy a new battery, available on your online and local photo stores :)Remember batteries are chemical waste!

Question : how long do samsung digital camera batteries last?
i just bought a samsung digital camera today at circuit city, and just after a while its battery power became very low. i tried to change batteries, but the other ones don't work. i keep trying to figure out how the battery became so low when i just bought it today! and sometimes when i was taking pictures to test it out, it would just shut off or turn on itself. does anyone know why?
Answer:
When you buy a new camera, mobile phone or something like that, you have to charge it for 4-5 hours. Then you must use it.There are different batteries. "AAA" or "AA" and so on. The little one is "AAA". pay attention to it.And try to use rechargebale batteries. Yeah, they are more expensive than others, but it will last nearly 2-3 year. (you have to give it energy day-by-day)And dont forget, if there appears any problem, You may contact to "shop sale or technic manager".

Question : Can anyone tell me about the Samsung L200 digital camera?
It looks like a great camera for the price ($150). 10.2 MP, 2.5 inch LCD, but only 3x optical zoom. Anyone have one? Are you happy with it? And what is the reputation of Samsung cameras in general? Thanks.
Answer:
It uses a lithium ion battery, which is good. It's got optical image stabilization, which is good. It looks good for the price.

Question : Did anyone else buy the Samsung D53 digital camera at Walmart? How does Samsung compare with Polaroid?
This must have been a Walmart exclusive because it's not listed on the Samsung web site as a model. Does anyone know how this camera would compare with the Polaroid A700 which was on sale at Kmart? Any opinions on who might make the best inexpense digital camera--Samsung or Polaroid? I do know that the Samsung is very confusing to use out of the box. There are many features but a steep learning curve on figuring out how to use them.
Answer:
Neither.I don't know how much retailers are advertising these for, but if Canon, Olympus, Fuji or Kodak had one within $100, I would opt for one of those and consider it money well spent.I use a Samsung digicam at work for taking passport photos and it is completely unimpressive. Polaroid spent a lot of time in bankruptcy, and is behind on the digital curve.Good luck in finding the right camera.BTW, if you are switching from a film camera, ALL digicams have a steep learning curve!

Question : Samsung digital camera, what am I doing wrong?
I just bought a samsung ES55 digital camera and I can only seem to store 19 pictures on the actual camera. I don't have a memory card in it but can buy and put one in if needs be. I have reduced the quality of the pics I am taking and put everything that could take up memory to the lowest possible setting. Is this normal because I can't believe for an £80 camera you would only store 19 pics???? Does this mean a memory card is essential for use?
Answer:
You're not doing anything wrong. The internal memory is very small.Yes you'll want / need a memory card. It will store far more than the internal.By the way, read your owner's manual to learn what size and style of card you need and your camera will support before you go buy.

Question : What is the indication that my samsung digital camera is charged ?
what is the indication that my samsung digital camera is charged ?
Answer:
It depends on your camera. But usually there's a bar - similar to those on cell phones - that show how full the battery is. That bar gets shorter as the battery drains. Always good to keep the battery charged by the time it gets to the 1/2-1/3 mark in case a great shooting oppty comes up and you don't have a couple hours to charge.I always carry a spare charged battery (and extra memory cd) with me too...

Question : I have a samsung digital camera and the lcd screen is cracked where can i get it fixed and for how much?
the camera is only 2 weeks old and the make of it is samsung digimax A503 with a 2" lcd screen.

fly to japan, have a great time, take an ordinary camera you are sure of. good luck. I hate didgital cameras, they do not photo correctly. If you look close, you will see. Cannot beat an ordinary point and shoot, mind you, you have to have a mind behind the eye.

Question : Can i use a 2gb or 4gb memory for the Samsung NV3 digital camera?
The instruction manual says the Samsung camera holds an external memory up to 1GB, what is the maximum it can support.
Answer:
It takes SD cards but not SDHD cards. So a 2GB SD card will work, but not a 2GB or 4GB SDHD card (all bigger capacity cards are SDHD)
|
Question : Change image size on samsung bl103 digital camera?
I just got a samsung camera and when taking pictures they come out HUGE...How do I change the setting so the pictures take a little smaller?
Answer:
NO, no, no, no, no - don't EVER do that!!!You should never EVER set your camera to anything less than best quality (i.e. lowest compression rate) and biggest size (highest resolution). The reasons for that include:1) If you have a good, large photo, you can crop it more later on without losing too much detail if you really have to.2) If you happen to take the best photo you ever took, you'll be able to print it at a large size. If you lowered size and quality, you'd be kicking yourself.3) If you decide later you really don't want to keep a big file, it is very easy to down-size it in post processing - but you can't go the other way, you can't invent pixels that weren't there in the first place.4) Memory cards are cheap, so are bigger hard drives. There is NO reason to do anything less than the best.
