Sanyo Vpc s1070 - run

bought this camera from walmart and the LCD crapped out on day 38. Walmart would not take it back, and indeed had no more of them in stock...Sanyo said it was warrentied for 30 days and it would be cheaper to buy another one. Tried contacting a live someone/anyone at Sanyo to no avail. Automatted Q&A only. I knew there was a reason I didnt like Sanyo.

I'm not the kind of person who wants the thousand dollar camera, so when I received this for xmas last year I used it everyday. Seemed like a normal camera, until a few months later I was messing with the settings and noticed it had a Professional setting right next to Auto. Since then this camera has gone everywhere with me and has not left Professional mode, unless I need to take a video here and there. Either way this camera is amazing on pro-mode even my mom who has a $3,500 Olympus with telescope lenses wants to borrow it because of how crystal clear the photos turn up. Sure it may take some time for the sensor to lock onto what you want but it's worth it for the quality this camera has.

It's nice.

It's a good camera. After reading the other reviews, I had to throw in my experience with it. I bought mine during a black Friday sale in 2008. It's been a year now, and it's still in excellent condition. I wouldn't give it 5 stars, but it's a good camera. The biggest problem i have? You have to hold your hand verrrry still to take good pics, especially if the flash is off. If you get one though, the pictures are crisp and look nice. It's good for recording videos as well. Overall- 4 stars.

Buyer beware regarding this and other Sanyo products

I purchased this digital camera in November 2008 as Christmas 2008 gift for my daughter. She was responsible and careful, but by April 2009, the bottom had fallen off the camera. She gerry-rigged it with masking tape and a piece of Lego, to keep battery from falling out. I just found out about the situation and phoned Sanyo about getting the camera replaced or repaired.

Did you know this camera comes with only 90-day warranty for labor and parts?

Here's what Sanyo graciously offered via their 1-800 number: Sanyo will fix it IF I agree to pay $25 over the purchase price for servicing a defective camera less than one year old. Buyer Beware!

Works for me!

I have had this camera for over a year now and was surprised to see negative reviews. I was actually looking it up because I have to purchase a camera for work and was going to get this one.

One of the best things about it is that despite the fact that I take a lot of pictures of my two little ones I do not have to charge the camera very often. Maybe once a month.

My only complaint is that the video quality is low when the lighting is not good.

I would recommend the camera, and despite the other reviews I am going to buy one for work.

Don't know about the camera but don't buy Sanyo

I shop early for Christmas and got this camera in September. When my daughter opened it in December, it was missing a charger. We emailed Sanyo and got no response so called them. They said since it was passed the 90 day warranty, they could not help us. We were completely ripped off. We looked in the box when it arrived and it looked like everything was there- turns out we got two of another cord instead. I didn't know we had to go through everything piece by piece because I assumed Sanyo was a responsible company.
My daughter is waiting to use her dead camera while we find a replacement charger.

Good camera, bad battery

I think the overall quality of the pictures is good, but like any digital camera, in dark lighting situations, the pictures become blurry. What I don't like is that after fully charging the battery, I left the camera on to see how long the battery would last. It shut itself off after only 70 minutes!!! I couldn't believe a camera with such a short battery life would be sold.
