Good camera
Good inexpensive camera. I wanted one with an eye view finder as they are difficult to find now days. With most of my photos being taken outdoors, it is difficult to see the videos and photos on a sunny day without an eye piece to view through. Family members have owned several Sony cybershots and have been pleased.

OPTICAL VIEWFINDER 9.5OZ MS MEDIA
Customer Review :
Easy to use!!!
We've had our Cyber-shot for several years now. We originally got it because it used the same Sony memory sticks as our camcorder did.
What I like about it: Easy to use Easy to download photos Durable, have dropped it a few times with no ill effects Like the timer delay feature Like the ability to take short movies
What I don't like about it: takes a long time for it to take the picture when flash in use (but this may be a factor in other cameras - not sure)
All in all a great little camera.

im impressed
my dad got this as a family camera, but i think i use it the mose. i've never used a digital camera before and i learned how to use it really fast. its idiot proof! not only is it idiot proof, it has great resolution like u can zoom in the picture and practically see someones eyes from like 30 ft away. you can also do little video clips which i thought was cool. but the only bad thing is it doesnt zoom in and out very much, but the zooming in of the photo pretty much solves that problem.

Fantastic Camera, shame about the service!
We purchased our DSC-P8 on holiday in Malaysia last year and have been extremely happy with it. I read a lot of reviews on the net and in magazines and decided this would suit us best. It has taken some fantastic shots, and the battery life, and ease of media (memory sticks) is very practical, although the memory sticks are a bit expensive.
Unfortunately I broke the LCD display last month when I fell on the camera whilst snowboarding. The camera still works fine but the LCD is useless. I telephoned Sony UK to see if it could be repaired but the quote they gave me was more than the camera would cost to replace. This seems like such a waste, as essentially the camera still does what it should do, but with out the screen navigating the menu's is impossible. I'm desperately trying to track down a new LCD screen for the camera, as it is very easy to remove and will try to fix it at my own expense and calling our insurance company if it still doesn't work. I find it so frustrating that companies would rather throw things away than try to repair them at a reasonable cost. Even with the engineers time there is know way it would cost the figures they quoted me. After all I managed to remove the screen (6 screws and two cable sockets) in less than 5 minutes! Add another 5 minutes for installing the new screen, if I ever get one, and you'd need to be on a very high hourly rate to warrant the money they're quoting. My advice, look after your stuff, don't snowboard with a camera (in a case) on your belt, take out good insurance, and put pressure on companies that would rather replace than repair.

Another Quality Product from Sony
Before buying this camera I tried digital cameras from other brands but could not get satisfactory result. Finally I chose DSCP8 and so far it has given me the performace I expected. It has an excellant result in its category and it's easy to use switches let my 9 years old son use this camera comfortably. He also used this during his recent field trip and results are just excellant. I recommend this camera to everyone who trust this brand. It won't let you down

Shockingly disappointed
My wife and I usually stick w/ Sony products and thought this was going to be a good purchase like the other Sony products we own.
We owned this camera a year and a half. Every time we took the camera out it was in a carrying case. We are super careful with all our electronics, so it's a surprise that this went bonk.
First the picture quality is awful indoors...no matter what setting it's on. I think another reviewer mentioned the same thing.
Then, about 5 month months ago the settings dial became really fidgety. When rotated to the 'movie' setting, it would act like it was stuck b/w the 'movie' and 'auto adjustment' setting. I would have to tap the setting dial and sometimes it would 'stick' to the correct setting I selected. Also the preview screen would be 'booted off' and back to camera mode. In other words, I would click the preview button, then click through the photos and suddenly I would be back on to camera mode.
Now the lens is stuck and won't come out. The message on the blank display now reads, "Turn the power off and on again". I guess it's thinking that it'll become unstuck when the power is restarted. Unfortunately it doesn't work anymore because of this.

Breaks
Had camera for a brief time, lcd broke while in the carrying case without any kinda of dropping or stress, then even though we had bought the "Full Coverage" insurance, they would not fix or have anything to do with it.

CybershotDSCW70
I bought a Sony Cybershot DSCW70 in 2006, new. Since then, I have shot over 7,000 fotos with it, in all kinds of conditions, all kinds of subjects. I have rarely been disappointed with its performance. In a bright outdoors, it sometimes is a bit difficult to see the screen. But I do know its limitations. The macro is wonderful..my Flickr stream ( I am sagehopper, if you want to see what it does ) is full of macro shots. It is a marvelous little camera, and just slips into a pocket, smaller than a pack of cigarettes. The battery life is good, if I do not use the flash heavily. I have taken 30, 40 shots with flash on the same setting..But if no flash, I have shot as many as 200 shots before needing to recharge..I have a big Canon DSLR that can do little more than the little Cybershot can do, with more complex handling. The digital zoom does very well, but in the extreme end, the resolution suffers. However, I rarely shoot over 2 or 3 megs. I have had perhaps 30 of my fotos taken with this camera published in newspapers, and travel brochures. I heartily recommend this little (but mighty) camera to a digital beginner, as I was when I bought it. The manual that came with the camera was very well written and easy to understand,,even for a rank beginner as I was. The online problem solving is very helpful..I asked them a couple technical questions (not a problem or troubleshooting deal) and was satisfied. Get one of these little guys, if you want troublefree, easy and very reliable use. I have 7.2 megs on it, but have never used it to its capability And the Memory Stick Pro Duo memory card holds a lot more fotos than i would shoot in a year..thousands. Mine is 4gigs. So, all in all, i simply say that if you consider this little guy as a primary or backup camera, you won't be disappointed..Go for it !

Horrible Camera After Only A Couple Months
I bought this camera right after it came out for almost $300. It was a great camera when I first bought it but after about 4 months of having it every picture no matter what setting the camera was on or what environment the photo was being taken came out really dark and extremely blurry. The camera has never been dropped nor has it had any damage done to it but it still refuses to take any decent or useable pictures. The other problem I have with this camera is the battery. The battery is not one that can just be replaced when it dies it is a rechargable. The first battery I had only lasted a good 6 months and then finally wouldn't hold a charge no matter how long I left it plugged in for so I resorted to buying another one which cost $53.00 at the local battery store (the only place in town that carried this spec. battery) and that battery only worked for less than a month. Now the camera is not useable because I refuse to spend another $53 on a battery that will probably die after a few months and for a camera that won't take worthy pictures in the first place. Save yourself the $200 and go with a different camera!

Customer Review :
Good camera for a point and shoot except...
I'm a creative photographer and like experimenting with photos manually (light, shutter speed, aperture settings etc...) and already have a great DSLR camera. But sometimes it's a little big to carry places where I'd like to be discrete taking pictures. I was looking for something small and simple to shoot but would also have advantages over my DSLR.
After researching point and shoots I narrowed my choices down to the Sony Cybershot DSC-WX1 and Canon S90. I liked the low-light capability of both cameras since many of the places I would need a small point and shoot would be indoors and in low light. I decided to try the Sony Cybershot first because it has a "panoramic sweep" feature since I shoot a lot of landscape photos and create panoramics in Photoshop. I wasn't happy about having to buy a memory stick since I already have a lot of SD cards. Delivery of the Sony Cybershot and the memory stick was fast and I received it before the scheduled delivery date.
Having read other reviews of the Sony Cybershot I followed their tips for getting better shots and was able to shoot some impressive pictures, comparing them to identical pictures shot with the DSLR in raw. The Sony Cybershot pictures were almost as detailed and sharp and the DSLR's smaller in print sizes (ie 4"x6" and 5"x7"). Major differences in quality showed up when the pictures were enlarged.
When I used the "panoramic sweep" feature I was very disappointed which is why I give the camera 3 stars. You can't use other exposure settings or the telephoto while in the "panoramic sweep" setting, and if you waver the camera slightly while "sweeping" the camera won't make the shot. I had to try many times to "sweep" the SF Bay before the camera decided the "sweep" was steady enough to shoot (my arms got tired) and even after all that, the lines in the picture (horizon line, Golden Gate bridge) were crooked where the pictures were "stitched" or I wavered. You NEED a tripod when using this feature. I took several shots at the same location with the DSLR and "stiched" them together in Photoshop that turned out WAY better.
Since the "panoramic sweep" was one of the reasons I bought this camera, I returned it and ordered the Canon S90 which I am extremely happy with. The Canon S90 has manual controls, RAW, and the while using the "stitch" feature you can use other settings, like telephoto and white balance.
For a point and shoot camera overall (except for the "panoramic sweep"), the Sony Cybershot DSC-WX1 seemed to be a great camera and was very easy to use.

Question : Video from Sony digital camera has watermark on it?
I have a Sony DSC-w290 digital camera. I filmed a short video clip and, when I put the file on my computer, it has a huge watermark right in the middle saying "evaluation copy." It doesn't show up when I view the video on the camera, just on the computer. I ran it thorugh a couple different converters and video players, but it was still there. How do I get rid of it?
Answer:
You pay for the software and the watermark is removed.

Question : How do you go to the trash bin in a Sony digital camera?
It's a sony Cyber-shot DSC-W120 digital camera. I Deleted the pictures by accident andI really want to get them back. Thanks
Answer:
You are thinking that your camera works like your computer, sorry but it does not, once you have deleted them then under all normal circumstances you have lost them. If you have not taken other photographs since you deleted them so that they have not been overwritten you can contact a specialist company who deal in data recovery. There may be software you can purchase that will do the same job, how effective it is I have no idea. You will have to do a search of the internet to locate it. Whichever way it will probably cost you, so it depends how important these photos are.Regards.
