Very Disappointed
I purchased this camera in January, and have regretted it ever since. Everything is worked via touchscreen, which is great for my iPhone, but with this camera, it means that real time and effort is required to change picture settings. This is worst when it comes to video. With my old T-100 (which I loved) you could flip a switch and be instantly in video mode. With the T-700, you need to turn the camera on, then start working the touch screen to get there. What this means is that you can no longer start recording with just a moments notice, it's now a process. The video quality also seems much worse than my old T-100. The same is true with picture settings; both hands are required to change them, so there is no longer that freedom to just flip the front down and start shooting. Perhaps most frustrating of all is that you can no longer opt to turn the flash on (although you can turn it off). The flash is only available if the camera detects that a flash is needed. This means that when there is a backlight that you'd like the flash to offset, you need to change the photo type to "low light" so that the flash will kick in. How lame. I would've given this camera two stars, but for the worst feature. When you try to review your photos, you (well, I) get a message that says "processing images". It takes about 10-12 seconds to get to the photos (it should take 1). This used to happen occasionally but now happens to me almost every time.
It does take pictures, so it's not completly worthless, but I won't be buying a Sony Cybershot next time around. - Ryan

does what it is supposed to
I bought this camera for my girlfriend (thus the pink version). I chose this one so that it can fit in her purse and can be powered on and take pics in less than 2 seconds. The 10 mb pics look great, the detail is amazing. She is really happy with the purchase. Unfortunately this did not come with a mem stick, but the 4 gb of internal memory are quite sufficient. I'd recomend purchasing some screen protectors and a case.

TERRIBLE PICTURE QUALITY - SONY NEVER AGAIN!!!
I bought this camera in 2007 for the reviews, ratings, portability, brand, looks and the Zeiss lens. Sony just lost another customer. I agree with everyone who is claiming their camera vibrates, produces blurry photos and only worked well for a while. Today I had enough - trying to take photos to sell something online and each successive shot is worse than the last no matter what the setting is. I carry this in a padded case only, since the day I purchased and no one else uses this, I won't let them. I have had cameras dropped in the past by people who just look at me and say, "Whoops" so since it's care is important to me no one else uses. I have NEVER dropped this camera or done anything to contribute to these problems. It is the camera and sadly, it is Sony. Not sure what to do but go back to the photo mags, reviews, ratings and try to pinpoint the best camera on the market. But if it's a Sony, forget it.

Has worked great for us.
I got this camera when they first came out, and have used it fairly heavily over the last few years.
Unlike other recent reviewers I have not had any problems with the camera (so far, knock wood) and will strongly consider a similar model from Sony when this one does finally bite the dust.
The Sony "T" series are a bit more expensive than the "W" and similar versions, but the extra compactness and pocketability is worth it in my opinion.
It's been a great camera here.

Amazing how picture quality has decreased over time --
I will start by saying that this camera looks great. My mom bought it in a red and is good at deceiving people into thinking that it is a good camera. The 3" LCD, all metal frame and sliding lens cover help with this too. But frankly, I cannot stand this camera because it won't do what I want it to do, and that is to just take some decent pictures. I would like to say that this is from my own experience, and that it's possible that I just got a lemon, but seeing as how there are definitely some other negative reviews regarding the camera's picture quality, I write this as a fair warning to those planning on buying this.
To start, one of the first things I noticed was the awkwardness of the menu system. There's a menu button, and then there's a home button, both of which open some sort of menu. My mom let me borrow this for a half year trip to China because the old Sony P10 broke on me, and I was a bit shocked at the difficulty I had in trying to find where I had to go to change settings or even shooting modes. Add to that the fact that there is a noticeable latency when navigating the menu, ie. a lag time between pressing buttons and having the actual menu respond to it. It's not a full second or anything crippling, but it's slow enough to be annoying. What IS crippling, however, is the fact that my camera takes grainy pictures basically 100% of the time. Even well-lit outdoor photos end up looking very soft with poorly defined lines; and that's as best as it gets. When you move indoor or into a low light environment you will have an amazingly hard time taking a normal picture. If you want to drop the ISO to increase light exposure, the camera takes forever to capture the image. Even at ISO200, I notice that the camera may sit on the "capturing..." screen for a second or more. This causes over-exposure and the image becomes very blurry. If you increase the ISO past 800, you will get so much noise that you will just never get straight lines. As for the anti-blur stabilizer function...I'm not sure it actually works for me. While I don't claim to have surgeons' hands, I'm also not super shaky. Whether I run the camera on auto mode or play with the camera settings, I find it very hard to get a decent shot outdoors and near impossible to get what I would consider a "good" shot indoors. Here is the bottomline: The camera combines soft lines with blurriness to capture pictures that I am ashamed of. I feel that I need to apologize every single time I send any pictures to my friends. The amazing thing is that the Sony P10 which is at least 5 years old and could take pictures up to 3.2 megapixels in resolution consistently shot sharper images than this one (though it goes up to 8 megapixels...guess it doesn't mean anything in the end). I was actually satisfied with many many of the pictures I had taken with the old camera, but cannot stop complaining about this one. Sure the P10 was ugly and had a tiny screen, but I was sad to see it go and even more disheartened that my temporary replacement was this piece of garbage.
Would love to hear from people who actually have good results with this camera though. Feel free to refute my points in the comments section!

Not bad if it works.
This is my second sony camera. My last one just died and would not power up. Now I've had this T100 for a couple of years and it is a nice camera with histogram... if you get one that will last more than a few years that is. My pics now have a green tint and I've changed/reset all settings. I think the camera is dying. It isn't worth the money Sony wants to send these type of cameras in to get fixed .. So it's basically a dead camera. I won't buy another Sony.

Two years of joy, then TOTAL DISASTER
Even though I'd like to give this camera a 1 star right now, I have to base the review on the entire time I've had it.
Got it in June of 2007 for a few weddings. Had a large Canon digital SLR, but wanted something sleek to put in purse. Was VERY HAPPY with this Sony Cybershot. Received multiple comments on how great my photos were coming out. Even recommended to a friend to purchase one for herself. Small, nice battery life, great photos. Loved it. Would give it a 5 star for the first 2 years.
Then in June 2009, the camera started to vibrate when turned on and the lens wouldn't focus properly. Went to Sony website, and they charge $141 plus tax to repair this. While digging on there, I found that they recognized this manufacturing issue on the DSC-T20 and are replacing T20s with the problem, but no other models. That doesn't help me. I now have a vibrating camera that won't focus and no way of fixing it that won't cost almost as much as purchasing a whole new one. Sony has lost me as a customer due to this.
Caveat Emptor!

June 2007... 2 years later SAME great camera :)
As mentioned in my title.. I've had this product since June 2007 and rave about it to this day. I have almost 100 albums on facebook all with 60+ from my time in college and travels while studying abroad these past 2 years (and I don't post even half the pictures). My cousin asked me if the button is broken yet.
To give you a glimpse into this cameras durability and reliability... my camera has survived plane trips, bike tours, gondola rides, city strolls, Chianti wine cellars, snow blizzards in the Alps, the rainy days touring Prague, crazy college student nights out, bungalows and camping in the Amazonian rainforest, hiking the Andes, college football games, family parties, and the two greatest feats it has survived... my 1 yr old niece and my purse!
Point is, I love the features. It's easy to use. It takes excellent photos. It's PINK.. it's been a great buy :)

Sony Cybershot DSC-W80
This is my first digital camera. I'm not an expert on cameras, so I've only used the basics. This camera takes very good pics and video! When I bought my camera, it was only around $250 (about 2 years ago). Obviously, this camera is in high-demand since the price has gone up rather than down. I have been very happy with the DSC-W80 and wouldn't trade it for anything. Currently, my boyfriend is using it out of town, but I've decided to buy him one of his own so I can have my camera back!
The only con I have with this camera is the poor quality of taking video at night. The pics come out good with the flash, but video is horrible. But I would expect that from a point and shoot camera. But I don't usually take pics or video at nighttime, which is why I gave this camera such a high rating.

A good all-round camera!
This camera has a metal body and is well-constructed and solid. It is very easy to use and it can be used in all lighting conditions even if some of the stills in low light are blurry - that's to be expected. The video quality is not the best, but the sound with the video is very good, so it does well for simple video capture. The battery does drain quickly with video use, however that may be typical of all cameras. The video works well enough to capture performances on stage in low lights with stage lighting and the sound quality is more than acceptable. You can probably get about 1 hour or a little longer on a full battery charge. Having used Sony lithium batteries for a few years now and sampled AA battery cameras, I could NEVER use any other type of battery system. I LOVE the long length of battery use. This camera captures images quickly, but I do see some recovery time is needed - so there is some lag time. The facial recognition technology works well. I will add more to this review, but overall this camera has been a very good buy, and after repeated use, still works flawlessly. This camera and the wonderful free program Picasa 3 from Google are all you need to get started. Next on my list is a longer zoom camera, but this will do for now. We also have the Sony DSC-W120 with 4x optical zoom and Smile Detection Technology. Both cameras are fairly comparable with the exception of the zoom length and smile detection.

great camera
This is a great camera. Been using this for 2 and half years and it takes good photos. Never had a problem with it. My friends thought I was using SLR and when they saw my camera they couldn't believe it. Just wonder why its more expensive now. Was trying to buy again for mom but can't get the same price when I got this.

Take stunning shots in a variety of conditions. This 8.1 megapixel Cyber-shot digital camera features an Intelligent Scene mode which automatically selects the right settings for your environment. Smile Shutter technology is also included, letting you instantly capture smiles the moment they happen. A 2.7 LCD, Carl Zeiss 5x optical zoom lens and Sony's Double Anti-Blur solution are also there for crisp, clear images and tight zooms. All this combined with an attractive body make the W150 an excellent choice for capturing the moment no matter where you are.
Customer Review :
Decent Camera but too Fragile
The Sony DSC-W150 is a point and shoot digital camera with a lot of features and mostly takes good pictures. It has a great zoom function and it is easy to get mostly good shots, especially in good lighting. There are times, however, that it takes grainy shots and I find it very hit or miss at night. Sometimes the flash works well and other times you get dark or grainy pictures.
The main problem with this camera, however, is it is way too fragile. Even a light bump has made the shutter get stuck several times. And it fell once and broke. It didn't fall hard mind you, and shoot and click cameras are going to get some wear and tear.
For the price and drawbacks, I would not recommend this camera.

Sony Cybershot DSCW150
I purchased this camera to replace an identical one that I broke while on a trip. This is the last ultra compact camera made with an optical viewfinder and that is why I purchased it. In addition to the optical viewfinder it has a 5X optical telephoto lens and all the other bells and whistles needed to take pictures in varying light, etc. I had the same camera for 3 years before breaking it and found it an outstanding value. Most important, however, is the optical view finder which is much easier and more satsifying to use than the screen viewfinders. The only downside of this camera is that the image stabilization is not quite as good as the newer units; however, that is not a major drawback in taking still pictures. Battery life is fairly good and the provided battery charger is small enough that it is not a burden to take on a trip.
All-in-all, a thouroughly worthwhile camera at an excellent price.

Can get better for the money
I got this as a gift, and although I've been using it for more than a year, I still don't like it. The delay on it is horrendous -- I know that for a point-and-shoot camera there will always be a delay, but this is the longest one I've ever encountered. And it doesn't matter how the settings are adusted -- it's always a few seconds delay, which means 75% of the time I miss whatever it was I was trying to capture in a picture. Also, this camera has no option at all for a time/date stamp. When I called Sony and asked about this, the gentleman I spoke with said they took it away because their customers don't like that feature. Well, I do. I don't think it would have been at all difficult for them to add that function with the option to hide it if it's not wanted, like most cameras, even cheap ones, do. Finally, picture quality. Almost half the time the pictures are just slightly blurry. Not too noticeable at a quick glance, but if you are looking longer or trying to edit the pictures for any reason, it becomes evident. Although Sony usually has good products, I would not recommend this one. I keep hoping it will break so I have an excuse to get a new one that I like better!

Possible fix for the black screen after the lens quits...
I loved my Sony until just over a year into it when the thing kicked it. My sister in law had the same problem with hers and it seems many others have had this problem. The lens goes in and out and in and out and then you get a black screen on the lcd that says "turn power off" or some such thing....and you're done. You can call customer support who will give you stupid solutions and then refer you to customer service who might blow you off...like they did me...or you can do what my dad did. He blew 90lbs of air pressure from the air compressor at the lens while he repeatedly turned it on and off....after several runs it finally started working again. I figured I'd throw this out there..if you are desperate like I was (wasn't sending in the thing for $130 to have it looked at) then it's worth a shot. Good luck!

Questions & Answers
Question : How do you go to the trash bin in a Sony digital camera?
It's a sony Cyber-shot DSC-W120 digital camera. I Deleted the pictures by accident andI really want to get them back. Thanks
Answer:
You are thinking that your camera works like your computer, sorry but it does not, once you have deleted them then under all normal circumstances you have lost them. If you have not taken other photographs since you deleted them so that they have not been overwritten you can contact a specialist company who deal in data recovery. There may be software you can purchase that will do the same job, how effective it is I have no idea. You will have to do a search of the internet to locate it. Whichever way it will probably cost you, so it depends how important these photos are.Regards.

Question : Will any Sony digital camera body work with the older Minolta Rokkor lenses?
I have many good Minolta Rokkor lenses I've used on several Minolta SRT camera bodies. I understand that Sony bought Minolta so will any of the Sony digital bodies fit the Rokkors (like the older Pentax lenses do with current Pentax digitals)?
Answer:
There is an adapter but its hard to find although a visit to the Sony web site might be helpful. Other than that just keep checking on eBay. Unfortunately, when Minolta introduced the Maxxum 7000 AF camera in 1985 they changed their lens mount. Sony now uses the A-mount so any Maxxum AF lens will work just fine on a Sony DSLR.

Question : Looking for a good sony digital camera?
I'm wanting a good digital camera, but not something that would cost a million dollars. It can be other brands but I would prefer sony... So I'm looking for a camera that isn't bulky... but I guess most digital camera's aren't. I'd like a good picture quality as in... no random white dots if the lighting source isn't good, or anything like that. Fairly quick picture taking would be lovely... and if the camera's limit is only limited to the memory cards' limit. Also being able to record clips... if there could be some sound. I was looking at some of the lower grades of sony camera and I noticed recording doesn't have sound. And again, I'd prefer sony, but I guess it doesn't really matter.
Answer:
Since you prefer Sony, here are two pretty well reviewed models of Sony that meet up to your requirements. Both have fast response times and they both take video with audio. One is the Sony N2 Here is a link with info and review :http://www.steves-digicams.com/2007_reviews/n2.htmlSecond is the Sony T100Here is a link with info and review :http://www.steves-digicams.com/2007_reviews/sony_t100.htmlPersonally I would go for the N2 because of its larger sensor but then thats a personal preference because on the other hand, the T100 is VERY compact. Here is a link to a site where you can compare image and video quality :http://www.digitalversus.com/duels.php?ty=1&ma1=32&mo1=&p1=2049&ma2=31&mo2=&p2=1450&ph=5Good luck!
