Measuring 3 3/4" x 1 3/4" x 1 Cyber-shot DSC-L1 camera is powered by Sony's Real Imaging Processor circuitry, delivering outstanding shot-to-shot speed, stamina and quick start-up time for catching the action as soon as it happens. For the first time in the ultra-compact class of digital cameras, the Cyber-shot L1 model delivers a 1.5-inch transflective LCD, making it easier to see what's on the LCD even in bright sunlight. It also has a new Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar 3X optical zoom lens, setting the stage for picture quality typically delivered by larger, more expensive digital cameras.Like all Cyber-shot cameras, the DSC-L1 model has speedy auto-focus and auto-exposure options to snap the best picture the first time. You can quickly select the best setting based on the shooting conditions by choosing from one of seven preset modes, including twilight, snow, beach and fireworks.Four newly developed technologies - including a linear focus drive and a compact high-resolution optical system - combine to produce the ultra-small lens. This lets you zoom in for crisp images of a flower or zoom out for a far-away shot of the game-winning goal, all the while staying in sharp focus. When used with Memory Stick PRO Duo media, the L1 camera's high-quality MPEG Movie VX Fine mode captures and plays back high-resolution moving images with 640x480 pixel resolution at 30 frames per second, up to the capacity of the memory media card. The L1 camera provides approximately 240 shots per charge of the InfoLithium battery, with a to-the-minute, on-screen display of remaining battery life.

Sony 5.1 MP Camera

This camera would warrant 5 stars if not for the flash and the delay in shutter response with the flash.

The flash consistantly over performs resulting in slightly over exposed photos. If your subject is at a further distance the flash issue won't be so noticable, but it is a definate issue on closer images.

When using the flash there is a significant delay in shutter response. It is quite annoying and the result is that you'll lose some pictures. By the time the camera responds when the flash is in use the subject has moved, unless of couse the subject is inanimate.

If you are particular about your photos then this will be important to you, but if you are more casual user then the flash issue may not concern you as much.

Beyond these two annoyances I have been quite happy with my camera. The macro capability is very good, versatility with lenses is handy, menus are user friendly, the large LCD is a winner. Photos come out quite nicely, and with a good printer you'll be very pleased with the results.

Customer Review :

Two years of joy, then TOTAL DISASTER

Even though I'd like to give this camera a 1 star right now, I have to base the review on the entire time I've had it.

Got it in June of 2007 for a few weddings. Had a large Canon digital SLR, but wanted something sleek to put in purse. Was VERY HAPPY with this Sony Cybershot. Received multiple comments on how great my photos were coming out. Even recommended to a friend to purchase one for herself. Small, nice battery life, great photos. Loved it. Would give it a 5 star for the first 2 years.

Then in June 2009, the camera started to vibrate when turned on and the lens wouldn't focus properly. Went to Sony website, and they charge $141 plus tax to repair this. While digging on there, I found that they recognized this manufacturing issue on the DSC-T20 and are replacing T20s with the problem, but no other models. That doesn't help me. I now have a vibrating camera that won't focus and no way of fixing it that won't cost almost as much as purchasing a whole new one. Sony has lost me as a customer due to this.

Caveat Emptor!

TERRIBLE PICTURE QUALITY - SONY NEVER AGAIN!!!

I bought this camera in 2007 for the reviews, ratings, portability, brand, looks and the Zeiss lens. Sony just lost another customer. I agree with everyone who is claiming their camera vibrates, produces blurry photos and only worked well for a while. Today I had enough - trying to take photos to sell something online and each successive shot is worse than the last no matter what the setting is. I carry this in a padded case only, since the day I purchased and no one else uses this, I won't let them. I have had cameras dropped in the past by people who just look at me and say, "Whoops" so since it's care is important to me no one else uses. I have NEVER dropped this camera or done anything to contribute to these problems. It is the camera and sadly, it is Sony. Not sure what to do but go back to the photo mags, reviews, ratings and try to pinpoint the best camera on the market. But if it's a Sony, forget it.

Not bad if it works.

This is my second sony camera. My last one just died and would not power up. Now I've had this T100 for a couple of years and it is a nice camera with histogram... if you get one that will last more than a few years that is. My pics now have a green tint and I've changed/reset all settings. I think the camera is dying. It isn't worth the money Sony wants to send these type of cameras in to get fixed .. So it's basically a dead camera. I won't buy another Sony.

Has worked great for us.

I got this camera when they first came out, and have used it fairly heavily over the last few years.

Unlike other recent reviewers I have not had any problems with the camera (so far, knock wood) and will strongly consider a similar model from Sony when this one does finally bite the dust.

The Sony "T" series are a bit more expensive than the "W" and similar versions, but the extra compactness and pocketability is worth it in my opinion.

It's been a great camera here.

Amazing how picture quality has decreased over time --

I will start by saying that this camera looks great. My mom bought it in a red and is good at deceiving people into thinking that it is a good camera. The 3" LCD, all metal frame and sliding lens cover help with this too. But frankly, I cannot stand this camera because it won't do what I want it to do, and that is to just take some decent pictures.
I would like to say that this is from my own experience, and that it's possible that I just got a lemon, but seeing as how there are definitely some other negative reviews regarding the camera's picture quality, I write this as a fair warning to those planning on buying this.

To start, one of the first things I noticed was the awkwardness of the menu system. There's a menu button, and then there's a home button, both of which open some sort of menu. My mom let me borrow this for a half year trip to China because the old Sony P10 broke on me, and I was a bit shocked at the difficulty I had in trying to find where I had to go to change settings or even shooting modes. Add to that the fact that there is a noticeable latency when navigating the menu, ie. a lag time between pressing buttons and having the actual menu respond to it. It's not a full second or anything crippling, but it's slow enough to be annoying.
What IS crippling, however, is the fact that my camera takes grainy pictures basically 100% of the time. Even well-lit outdoor photos end up looking very soft with poorly defined lines; and that's as best as it gets. When you move indoor or into a low light environment you will have an amazingly hard time taking a normal picture. If you want to drop the ISO to increase light exposure, the camera takes forever to capture the image. Even at ISO200, I notice that the camera may sit on the "capturing..." screen for a second or more. This causes over-exposure and the image becomes very blurry. If you increase the ISO past 800, you will get so much noise that you will just never get straight lines. As for the anti-blur stabilizer function...I'm not sure it actually works for me. While I don't claim to have surgeons' hands, I'm also not super shaky. Whether I run the camera on auto mode or play with the camera settings, I find it very hard to get a decent shot outdoors and near impossible to get what I would consider a "good" shot indoors.
Here is the bottomline: The camera combines soft lines with blurriness to capture pictures that I am ashamed of. I feel that I need to apologize every single time I send any pictures to my friends. The amazing thing is that the Sony P10 which is at least 5 years old and could take pictures up to 3.2 megapixels in resolution consistently shot sharper images than this one (though it goes up to 8 megapixels...guess it doesn't mean anything in the end). I was actually satisfied with many many of the pictures I had taken with the old camera, but cannot stop complaining about this one. Sure the P10 was ugly and had a tiny screen, but I was sad to see it go and even more disheartened that my temporary replacement was this piece of garbage.

Would love to hear from people who actually have good results with this camera though. Feel free to refute my points in the comments section!

Question : Which is better a Sony or a Canon digital camera ?
I'm panning to buy a good digital camera and i'm wondering which is better a sony digital camera or a canon. Do you know any good model to suggest ?

Answer:
Sony tends to be lower end. They're limited on lenses and feel cheap. Sony has been making SLRs since 2006 and Canon since the early 1900s. Who do you think would be better?

Question : i broke my sony camera, should i invest in a new sony digital camera or buy a canon?
i've heard canon brand is better than sony, but since i already have the battery, charger and memory card i was thinking about getting another sony.. so do i buy a Sony camera or go for a Canon?????what's your advice?

Answer:
Tough choice, but think the Canon below would really be the best.Just saw this camera at Best Buy and think it is a great camera and a best buy. It has an optical viewfinder and uses NiMH rechargeable batteries. Please read as much of the following as you can for other information and help with choosing a camera.Canon A590IS $134.99 at Best Buy or $116.30 at Amazon.comhttp://bountii.com/deal-1523871-canon-powershot-8-0-megapixel.html ...Camera reports batteries low, but is it low charge or bad electrical contacts? Overcharging can ruin good batteries! The secret to making digital cameras work better is having good electrical contacts between batteries and camera. Digital cameras require lots of power. Bad electrical contacts can cause lots of problems so battery and camera contacts must be cleaned properly. Batteries may be fully charged, but will be viewed as low if contacts are not really good. The LCD screen is a low steady load, but when lens extension, optical zoom, focus, and flash charging are added in the capture mode; the load is very heavy. Bad contacts make cameras do strange things like making bad pictures or shutting off with the lens out.CAUTION Do not overcharge! Batteries can be severely damaged. Use an automatic two or more hour Energizer Compact smart charger with safety timer, temperature monitor, and trickle charge technology ($9.76) at Walmart. For longer life, use Duracell 2000mAh batteries and a full cycle charge monthly. To preserve battery charge, use the view finder and not the LCD screen when possible. There are so many cameras out there it is difficult to say which is best, but digital is definitely the way to go. The second source link will be very helpful as it list most of the cameras out there with prices. What gives a camera its picture quality? The following information should help you know what to look for in a camera. The short answer is that it is mostly the skill of the photographer that produces high quality pictures. The lens and camera are very important, but the ability to set the scene, adjust the cameras settings, and hold the camera very still or use a tripod with auto or remote shutter actuation when required is what gets the great pictures. Many of the new cameras come with only an LCD screen. Would suggest that you find one that also has an optical view finder because the LCD screen is almost impossible to see in bright sun.Higher mega pixels may not really be the best thing to look for. It is more expensive, takes longer to process, and may not be needed unless you are making a really large picture or blowing up a small part of a picture. Maximum print size for a 3 mega pixel setting is 8 x 10 inches.http://www.kodak.com/eknec/PageQuerier.jhtml?pq-path=398&pq-locale=en_US&_requestid=2039 ...http://www.kenrockwell.com/tech/mpmyth.htm ...Lots of great camera tips in these two links. http://www.danscamera.com/Learning/going_digital/#resolution ...http://www.kodak.com/eknec/PageQuerier.jhtml?pq-path=38/10468/6368/333&pq-locale=en_US ...Check this more for the money camera. Also, it only has a 3 x optical zoom and 7x digital zoom. I never use the digital zoom because making pictures larger works better on the computer. Question : Looking for a good sony digital camera?
I'm wanting a good digital camera, but not something that would cost a million dollars. It can be other brands but I would prefer sony... So I'm looking for a camera that isn't bulky... but I guess most digital camera's aren't. I'd like a good picture quality as in... no random white dots if the lighting source isn't good, or anything like that. Fairly quick picture taking would be lovely... and if the camera's limit is only limited to the memory cards' limit. Also being able to record clips... if there could be some sound. I was looking at some of the lower grades of sony camera and I noticed recording doesn't have sound. And again, I'd prefer sony, but I guess it doesn't really matter.

Answer:
Since you prefer Sony, here are two pretty well reviewed models of Sony that meet up to your requirements. Both have fast response times and they both take video with audio. One is the Sony N2 Here is a link with info and review :http://www.steves-digicams.com/2007_reviews/n2.htmlSecond is the Sony T100Here is a link with info and review :http://www.steves-digicams.com/2007_reviews/sony_t100.htmlPersonally I would go for the N2 because of its larger sensor but then thats a personal preference because on the other hand, the T100 is VERY compact. Here is a link to a site where you can compare image and video quality :http://www.digitalversus.com/duels.php?ty=1&ma1=32&mo1=&p1=2049&ma2=31&mo2=&p2=1450&ph=5Good luck!

Question : How do I get a deleted Sony digital camera picture back?
I just deleted a picture that I really liked from my Sony digital camera, is there anyway I can get it back!! Thanks for the help! :)

Answer:
No, you can't get it back. In the future, upload your pictures to Adobe Album Starter Free Edition after you take them so you don't lose them.

Question : Will any Sony digital camera body work with the older Minolta Rokkor lenses?
I have many good Minolta Rokkor lenses I've used on several Minolta SRT camera bodies. I understand that Sony bought Minolta so will any of the Sony digital bodies fit the Rokkors (like the older Pentax lenses do with current Pentax digitals)?

Answer:
There is an adapter but its hard to find although a visit to the Sony web site might be helpful. Other than that just keep checking on eBay. Unfortunately, when Minolta introduced the Maxxum 7000 AF camera in 1985 they changed their lens mount. Sony now uses the A-mount so any Maxxum AF lens will work just fine on a Sony DSLR.

Question : pls help me with my sony cybershot digital camera?

Answer:

Question : How can I find the manual to download for my Sony digital camera DSCP72?
I have a Sony digital camera DSCP72 and I do not have the manual for it. I want to download it from the internet. How do I do that. What is the link to key in so that I can download the manual?

Answer:

Question : How do you go to the trash bin in a Sony digital camera?
It's a sony Cyber-shot DSC-W120 digital camera. I Deleted the pictures by accident andI really want to get them back. Thanks

Answer:
You are thinking that your camera works like your computer, sorry but it does not, once you have deleted them then under all normal circumstances you have lost them. If you have not taken other photographs since you deleted them so that they have not been overwritten you can contact a specialist company who deal in data recovery. There may be software you can purchase that will do the same job, how effective it is I have no idea. You will have to do a search of the internet to locate it. Whichever way it will probably cost you, so it depends how important these photos are.Regards.

Question : Video from Sony digital camera has watermark on it?
I have a Sony DSC-w290 digital camera. I filmed a short video clip and, when I put the file on my computer, it has a huge watermark right in the middle saying "evaluation copy." It doesn't show up when I view the video on the camera, just on the computer. I ran it thorugh a couple different converters and video players, but it was still there. How do I get rid of it?

Answer:
You pay for the software and the watermark is removed.
