With the T90 taking great pictures is now easier than ever. No quite Satisfied with this SONY CyberSHOT
Thought that it would be a good buy but not good as i expected. The quality degrades while taking pics in the night usually the dark objects. You'll see lot of NOISE! Wont recommend this cam.

Fun camera
I use this for still and video. Wish I could zoom while recording video, but not that big a deal. I bought a refurbished. Seems to work very well. Read the manual thoroughly to understand this camera, it has a lot of features.

Throw your old staff (camera & video) away
Well built, compact size, fits in your shirt pocket picture quality is excellent and the 720p HD video quality is absolutely great for this small gadget. I am selling my previous video camcorder 'cause this one does it all. Battery life - even with no brand name product - gives you 150 pics and/or 30-40 min video.

I must preface by declaring "I own the big brother DSC-HX1 too" and so I'm very familiar with Sony's camera systems. I don't have any of the end-user problems navigating the complicated menus/options since I am acutely aware of the Sony camera way. I bought this smaller/lighter P&S for carrying around in my pocket everyday!
In fact, this ultra-slim "point-and-shoot" is nearly identical to the DSC-HX1 except for the lens zoom range. This slim wonder has the panorama sweep mode as well as the twilight handheld modes too. The huge LCD screen allows fingertip navigating even though a stylus is included (not necessary). The proprietary Sony MS Pro Duo memory card inserts into a hidden compartment underneath with the Li-ion battery. The beautiful brushed metal casing and matching lens cover are as pretty to look at as they are functional. Sliding the lens cover door downward is just one way to power up the camera, very nice feature for quick shooting situations when you don't want to fumble around looking for the on/off switch.
One final thought before closing: be sure to buy a real SONY brand MS-Pro Duo memory stick, personally I recommend the SONY Memory STick Pro-HG Duo at 16gb or 32gb. This particular card is expensive but worth it, the faster read/write speeds eliminates the shutter "lag time" that's so prevalent in lower quality cards.

Cool Camera
I've owned Sony cameras for years and would never look at another brand of camera, until now. It seems like something has changed in the recent years. My older Sony Digital Cameras worked great in all conditions - low light, outside, indoors. I never had a problem with blurriness or noise in my pictures. But my camera broke down last summer after years of use on vacations (at beaches and on the run), and I was forced to get a new camera. At first I looked at the Sony W290. I looked at the reviews and they were mixed, but I gave it a shot. Not happy. All I got were very blurry pictures which was a huge disappointment after never having this problem in the past. So I moved on to the Sony TX1, which was a GRATE improvement. I love the design and the style of the camera. It's a great pocket camera and it seems to have conquered the low light issues, to a point at least. I love the features of this camera, but I'm still tossed about it, which is why I'm only giving it 4 stars. I have a couple concern.
First, some Pros:
- Very stylish camera. - Love the touch screen. Very easy to use once you get into it. - The indoor shots seem pretty good (I'm still working on this. It still doesn't seem to be as good as my "old" cameras). - Love the neat features, like the screen shows with music, panaromic shots, HD video, face detection. All of these things make this camera very "hip" and up to the times.
My concerns: - Small zoom. For a camera of this price, I feel it needs a much better zoom. 7x would give more flexibility when taking pictures. It seems like most the Sony models lack on the zoom capability. - Taking HD Video takes up so much space on the memory card. Be prepared to download to the computer, or a portable computer drive that stores a lot of gigs. I still struggle with how to edit these HD files and put them together to form a movie and burn to a DVD. The documents say you can take video in lower version, but I haven't figured that out either. It seems all my video files are HUGE. This could be my user error, so I take some responsibility, it just seems like this should be easy to accomplish.
Overall it's a great point and shoot camera. Some people might not like the touch screen, but it's actually quite easy to manipulate. In the end the video capability might be too advanced for me and I had to return it in lieu of basic video functions. I need to educate myself on this...being able to edit and play with the HD video files.

I love the camera, unfortunately I returned it, because it had a lot of scratches, next time I'll buy a new one.

Great Little Camera
This is my first touch screen camera and I was hesitant. However, it is very easy to use and the instruction booklet is great. Takes good pictures inside or out. Easy to carry and handle. Easy to download pictures and clear the photos from the camera. I bought extra memory and will purchase an extra battery for my cruise trip. The only cons I have noticed so far : Wish it had a more powerful zoom. Have to clean touch screen alot due to my own fingerprints.

| Editorial Review :
Sony's ? (Alpha) NEX-3 takes mirror-less/finder-less, interchangeable-lens camera technology to the next level by integrating the resolving power of an APS-format imaging sensor in a camera body that's 48% smaller and 49% lighter than traditional compact DSLRs. While the camera is physically smaller than a compact DSLR, it retains the imaging qualities of an APS imaging sensor, which contains 58% more surface area than a Four Thirds imaging sensor, and about 13 times the surface area of point-and-shoot imaging sensors. The end result is true pro-quality resolving power in a far smaller package. For still imaging, the NEX-3 captures JPEGs (Fine or Standard), RAW, or JPEG+RAW in a choice of sRGB or Adobe RGB color spaces. In addition to stills, the NEX-3 also captures extremely vivid 720p video @ 30 fps as well as standard-definition video recording. For more precise audio there is an optional shoe-mounted shotgun mic that features 90°/120° tilt movement. The NEX-3 is designed to use Sony E-series lenses, a compact line of optics designed to work with the reduced flange distance that resulted from the removal of the reflex viewing system. The new E-series optics are smaller than Sony's traditional DSLR optics while retaining the imaging qualities Sony is recognized for. In addition to Sony E-series optics, you can also use any of Sony's traditional DSLR lenses (as well as all Minolta AF-mount optics) on the NEX-3 by using the optional LA-EA1 lens adapter. (Note - Manual focus and full-open aperture metering only when using LA-EA1 lens adapter).
Customer Review :
Solid performer but short battery life
I have been playing with the camera since June 25. The camera has excellent low light performance. Very low noise in general. I compared it side by side with my Canon T1i and found that in may cases, Nex-3 produces better quality of pictures. Auto focus in video mode is quick. The video quality in 720p mode is generally very good, but not as good as the Tx7 which is a Sony point and shoot supporting 1080p. Like the other reviewer has shared, the battery seems to use significant amount of power even when the camera is off. Overall a solid performer. I just wish Sony get the battery life issue fixed as soon as possible.

good for what it is, but pickier buyers may not be satisfied
The reviews of this camera are pretty correct - if you are a compact point and shoot person that wants to move up to greater picture quality but not necessarily wanting to put up with the bulk of a SLR or the complications of different aspects of photography, then this camera should do nicely for you.
Pros: 1) cost - for what it is, it could have been more expensive, though the additional lenses will cost you. 2) size - it really is a small body, comparable to some of the larger point and shoots. It's also a nice looking camera, if you care about those kinds of things (I have the red model, which is particularly cute). 3) picture quality - out of the box has been better than my previous point and shooters with the ability to do background defocus and panoramic shots. 4) shutter speed - camera really is fast and you'll see a big decrease in blurry pictures, even with action shots 5) low light shooting - camera comes with a flash but the camera's able to take decent pictures in low light settings without the flash. 6) flip screen - pretty handy for shooting different angles. 7) video quality is good and has all the pluses of being able to shoot video with an SLR type camera - changeable lenses/settings, high quality.
Cons: 1) battery life could be better - I shot about 100 photos and the battery drained down to about 33% after about 2 hours of shooting 2) navigation speed - the camera is slow when jumping between shoot mode and playback mode. 3) navigation - it did seem to be a bit cumbersome that there isn't a back button to go back to where you navigated from 4) picture quality - I know I listed this as a pro, one bit of downside on the automatic settings is that sometimes the color is not as vibrant as probably the SLRs are capable of - you might need to futz with the manual settings to capture the best color. In some settings, particularly low light, some of the colors seem a bit washed out. 5) LCD screen is not the most visible in sunlight and gets smudgy at times. 6) would have been nice if it came with body cap and lens back cap, so that you could store the lens and body separately. 7) movie artifacts - sometimes, at the end of a clip, there may be some jagged artifacts. These can probably be snipped off by video editing software.
I'm pretty happy with this camera, though I imagine that an SLR can probably take better pictures - though you'd have to learn how to do so.

Great camera with poor battery life
The reviewer above did an excellent review, so mine will pale in comparison. I bought this camera the very first day it was available (June 29) and have been playing around with it since. It takes beautiful low light photos, even without a tripod, which I'm very pleased with. I have yet to use the flash that came with it.
Anyway, great camera, don't regret my purchase... The only downside that I want to point out is the battery life. I realize the big screen and the continuous autofocus uses up a lot of power, but this camera REALLY sucks up battery power. If you went out for a day of shooting on a fully charged battery, you will need an extra. The camera seems to even suck up a lot of power when it's not even on. There is new firmware that claims to reduce battery consumption when off, so hopefully that will be an improvement. Which leads to another downside, which is that firmware is only available for Windows and not Mac.
Other than that, beautiful beautiful camera.
*** Just a note that the battery life has improved greatly after the firmware update. Much happier with the camera now!

Finally, the perfect camera!
I have been waiting a lifetime for this camera and it was worth the wait! It provides excellent quality shots in the smallest possible sized body. I am a point-and-shoot user who has been disappointed with the photo quality that comes from even expensive point-and-shoot cameras but who has never bought a DSLR because I knew I would never want to lug one around. If this describes you, then this is your perfect camera. Or, if you own a DSLR and use 5% or less of the features on your camera, this is also the camera for you. On the other hand, if you're a skilled DSLR user, skip this camera because you'll be frustrated the compromises that make this camera a smart choice for the average consumer.
Why is this camera "perfect" if you're a typical or even advanced point-and-shoot user?
COMPARED WITH POINT-AND-SHOOTS, you'll immediately see the following improvements: - Low light/indoor shots are dramatically better - Quicker shutter response time - Ability to do continuous shooting at 7 frames per second and other DSLR-like features - Great HD video
COMPARED WITH DSLRs, you get: - A much smaller camera than a DSLR that you can actually carry around on a regular basis - As good or better HD video because of the advanced auto-focus technology in the Sony Alpha Nex which does a better job of continuous auto-focus than the average DSLR - Photo quality that is comparable to a DSLR for the average user (again, if you're an advanced DSLR user, skip this camera) - An easier-to-use camera that was designed to make the most important features very accessible with the advanced features tucked away in the menus. The advanced features are there if you need them but if you're more likely to set the camera on the auto setting, you won't need the advanced stuff much and will appreciate how straight-forward the camera is to use.
COMPARED WITH OTHER WANNABE PERFECT CAMERAS, you'll be glad you waited for the Sony Alpha Nex because it's: - Smaller in size than the other options - Has better photo performance due to the larger APS-C sensor (12X the size of a typical point-and-shoot and also significantly larger than the competitive Micro Four Thirds sensor) - Has better video performance - Is similar or cheaper in price
Other wannabe "perfect cameras" I've considered and almost purchased have all been "Micro Four-Thirds" cameras, which owned this category of cameras before the arrival of the Sony Alpha Nex.
Panasonic Lumix GF1: Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF1 12.1MP Micro Four-Thirds Interchangeable Lens Digital Camera with 14-45mm Lens
Olympus PEN E-PL1: Olympus PEN E-PL1 12.3MP Live MOS Micro Four Thirds Interchangeable Lens Digital Camera with 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 Zuiko Digital Zoom Lens (Black)
And I am glad I waited. The Sony Alpha Nex has better photo and video performance than both, a smaller form factor than both and is cheaper than the Panasonic (though slightly more expensive than the Olympus which cut its price when the Sony was announced).
As for the Nex-3 vs Nex-5, if you care about the dollars involved in the price difference, then you should get the Nex-3. Three key differences are not really worth the added cost if you're looking to maximize value: (1) the typical user will not see a noticeable difference between the higher 1080i video resolution in the Nex-5 vs the 720p resolution in the Nex-3 (and I have a hard time believing that home movies can even benefit from the higher resolution). (2) The Nex-5 has a metal body vs plastic for the Nex-3 which is an aesthetic nice-to-have but not a need-to-have. (3) The Nex-5 is marginally smaller in two of the three dimensions (0.2 inch and 0.1 inch). Because of the overall size of the camera with its lens, shaving a little off of the height and width just won't make a practical difference. Spend your savings on stuff that will actually impact how you use the camera like a spare battery or a larger memory card.
Other things to note:
- The flash is small and detachable, and it's different than almost any other camera you're considering. PRO: you don't need it often because of the great low-light performance and you get a more compact camera as a result. CON: there's a part you can lose or forget to bring with you if you really need it. - If you're looking to own multiple lenses, there aren't many available lenses directly compatible with the camera and they're expensive compared to competing lines. But for the advanced point-and-shoot user, you don't need multiple lenses; just the 18-55mm or if you splurge, the 18-200mm when it comes out (expected fall 2010). But if you have the 18-200mm, the even larger lens starts to erode the benefit of the small body. - While this is very compact compared to a DSLR, it's not really going to fit in a pocket (though it will fit into a purse). The lens still juts out like on a DSLR so it won't be portable like an ultra-compact point-and-shoot. But for high quality shots, there isn't a smaller camera than this one.

Great Camera!!!
This camera is one of the best cameras I have ever owned. The picture quality is uncomparable. My family and friends ask all the time what photographer took the pictures that I have, and they are surprised when they find out that it was just me using my Sony w-190. I have had this camera for almost a year and it has worked great. The only drawback I have is no zoom when you are recording, but I can live with that. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants an on-the-go camera, that takes exceptional pictures.

Question : How do I get a deleted Sony digital camera picture back?
I just deleted a picture that I really liked from my Sony digital camera, is there anyway I can get it back!! Thanks for the help! :)
Answer:
No, you can't get it back. In the future, upload your pictures to Adobe Album Starter Free Edition after you take them so you don't lose them.

Question : Which is better a Sony or a Canon digital camera ?
I'm panning to buy a good digital camera and i'm wondering which is better a sony digital camera or a canon. Do you know any good model to suggest ?
Answer:
Sony tends to be lower end. They're limited on lenses and feel cheap. Sony has been making SLRs since 2006 and Canon since the early 1900s. Who do you think would be better?
|
Question : i broke my sony camera, should i invest in a new sony digital camera or buy a canon?
i've heard canon brand is better than sony, but since i already have the battery, charger and memory card i was thinking about getting another sony.. so do i buy a Sony camera or go for a Canon?????what's your advice?
Answer:
Tough choice, but think the Canon below would really be the best.Just saw this camera at Best Buy and think it is a great camera and a best buy. It has an optical viewfinder and uses NiMH rechargeable batteries. Please read as much of the following as you can for other information and help with choosing a camera.Canon A590IS $134.99 at Best Buy or $116.30 at Amazon.comhttp://bountii.com/deal-1523871-canon-powershot-8-0-megapixel.html ...Camera reports batteries low, but is it low charge or bad electrical contacts? Overcharging can ruin good batteries! The secret to making digital cameras work better is having good electrical contacts between batteries and camera. Digital cameras require lots of power. Bad electrical contacts can cause lots of problems so battery and camera contacts must be cleaned properly. Batteries may be fully charged, but will be viewed as low if contacts are not really good. The LCD screen is a low steady load, but when lens extension, optical zoom, focus, and flash charging are added in the capture mode; the load is very heavy. Bad contacts make cameras do strange things like making bad pictures or shutting off with the lens out.CAUTION Do not overcharge! Batteries can be severely damaged. Use an automatic two or more hour Energizer Compact smart charger with safety timer, temperature monitor, and trickle charge technology ($9.76) at Walmart. For longer life, use Duracell 2000mAh batteries and a full cycle charge monthly. To preserve battery charge, use the view finder and not the LCD screen when possible. There are so many cameras out there it is difficult to say which is best, but digital is definitely the way to go. The second source link will be very helpful as it list most of the cameras out there with prices. What gives a camera its picture quality? The following information should help you know what to look for in a camera. The short answer is that it is mostly the skill of the photographer that produces high quality pictures. The lens and camera are very important, but the ability to set the scene, adjust the cameras settings, and hold the camera very still or use a tripod with auto or remote shutter actuation when required is what gets the great pictures. Many of the new cameras come with only an LCD screen. Would suggest that you find one that also has an optical view finder because the LCD screen is almost impossible to see in bright sun.Higher mega pixels may not really be the best thing to look for. It is more expensive, takes longer to process, and may not be needed unless you are making a really large picture or blowing up a small part of a picture. Maximum print size for a 3 mega pixel setting is 8 x 10 inches.http://www.kodak.com/eknec/PageQuerier.jhtml?pq-path=398&pq-locale=en_US&_requestid=2039 ...http://www.kenrockwell.com/tech/mpmyth.htm ...Lots of great camera tips in these two links. http://www.danscamera.com/Learning/going_digital/#resolution ...http://www.kodak.com/eknec/PageQuerier.jhtml?pq-path=38/10468/6368/333&pq-locale=en_US ...Check this more for the money camera. i need help... if anybody has any info i would appreciate the help. Its a sony digital camera model dsc h20 and i want to offload my pictures onto my mac. thanks in advance for your help!
Answer:
Well, the camera surely came with a USB cable for that very purpose, so find it, and plug one end into the camera and then plug the other end into the back of your Mac and iPhoto will open and download the photos for you.If you don't have the cable, you'll have to get one, probably on eBay or somewhere like that. Just do an online search for "USB cable sony dsc h20" and you'll surely find one.Good luck!... ☺

Answer:
Sorry to say, your Sony is not digital. It is a Hi-8 analog vcam. But you can convert your analog to digital files w/c can then be imported to a pc. There are devices meant for this process:http://www.altoedge.com/usbcapture/index.htmlhttp://pinnaclesys.com/PublicSite/us/Products/C onsumer+Products/Dazzle/Family.htmhttp://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.a sp?EdpNo=612720&CatId=1428

Question : How do you go to the trash bin in a Sony digital camera?
It's a sony Cyber-shot DSC-W120 digital camera. I Deleted the pictures by accident andI really want to get them back. Thanks
Answer:
You are thinking that your camera works like your computer, sorry but it does not, once you have deleted them then under all normal circumstances you have lost them. If you have not taken other photographs since you deleted them so that they have not been overwritten you can contact a specialist company who deal in data recovery. There may be software you can purchase that will do the same job, how effective it is I have no idea. You will have to do a search of the internet to locate it. Whichever way it will probably cost you, so it depends how important these photos are.Regards.
